While both defenses are solid, both offenses are better.

Oklahoma State allows on average 62.1 PPG while West Virginia scores almost 81. On the other side of the ball, the Cowboys have averaged 71.3 points while the Mountaineers have allowed 67.5 points. The offenses will be able to score in this game and another Over is coming for these 2 teams.

Wisconsin limps into bowl season after dropping 2 of the final 3 games, including rivalry games for Paul Bunyan’s axe against Minnesota, and the Heartdale Trophy against Iowa. The Badgers are on an 0-3 ATS skid, too, cashing the Under in 3 of the final 4 outings.

The Badgers have performed well in bowl games of late, going 7-1 SU in 8 outings dating back to Jan. 1, 2015. That includes a 20-13 win over Arizona State in the Las Vegas Bowl last season, although it just failed to cover at most shops as a 7.5-point favorite.

This game features a lot of players who have entered the transfer portal, and 1 major star is injured, too.

Wisconsin’s list of players out for Tuesday’s game include RB Braelon Allen (1,121 rushing yards, 10 rush TD) due to injury, while those notable players hitting the transfer portal include WR Markus Allen, QB Graham Mertz (2,136 passing yards, 19 TD) and RB Isaac Guerendo (390 rushing yards, 5 rush TD) on offense. Guerendo was also the primary kick return guy, too.

On defense, Wisconsin’s NT Keeanu Benton (20 solo tackles, 4.5 sacks) and LB Nick Herbig (32 solo tackles, 11 sacks, 2 forced fumbles) declared for the NFL Draft and are out.

Oklahoma State’s leading passer QB Spencer Sanders (2,652 passing yards, 17 TD, 391 rushing yards, 8 TD) is out after entering the portal, as is leading rusher RB Dominic Richardson (543 rushing yards, 8 rush TD) and leading receiver WR Braylin Presley (61 catches, 739 receiving yards, 2 TD).

On D, Oklahoma State lost leading tackler LB Mason Cobb (96 total tackles, 2 sacks, 1 INT, 1 forced fumble) to the portal, as well as DE Tyler Lacy (27 total tackles, 3 sacks, 1 fumble recovery).

OKLAHOMA STATE (+145) is worth a roll of the dice as short ‘dogs in this bowl game. The Cowboys usually show out in bowl games, posting a 21-11 SU all-time record in bowl games, but that’s not why they’re the play.

Wisconsin (-170) suffered much heavier losses on their side due to the transfer portal, opt outs and a big injury to Braelon Allen. It’s too much to handle. QB Chase Wolf is expected to start, and he was 2-of-6 for 21 yards in his lone appearance this season.

The Cowboys likely will see a combination of veteran QB Garret Rangel and the coach’s son, QB Gunnar Gundy, under center. They have a touch more experience than Wolf, and they won’t have to deal with Benton and Herbig breathing down their necks.

Against the spread

OKLAHOMA STATE +3 (-102) would be a little more attractive at +3.5, but it’s not a bad play catching the 3 points. The better value is playing the money line straight up, however.

Over/Under

UNDER 44.5 (-109) is the lean here, as both teams will have some inexperience under center, while both sides also do not have their leading rusher, either.

It’s hard to imagine who is going to be moving the chains on either side. Of course, there are some big defensive players on both sides missing, too, which could open things up.

Go Under, but go a little lightly, mostly just due to the roster uncertainty. The guys who are playing are going to want to show out, and we could see some surprising performances.

With only 1 loss — on the road against the College of Charleston 77-75 in the finals of the Charleston Classic — Virginia Tech is on the verge of cracking the top 25 and a win over the Cowboys could be just the push to get them there.

After beating UNC 80-72 last Sunday as 1-point underdogs, Virginia Tech did not fall victim to a hangover in its next matchup and blew out Dayton 77-49 and covered the 7-point spread by 21 points.

Oklahoma State, after losing 74-64 to No. 5 UConn 74-64 on Dec. 1, returned home to beat Sam Houston State 65-51 as an 8-point favorite. It returns to the northeast for this game, and it will be another difficult challenge for the Cowboys.

Oklahoma State can win this game, but my feeling is the Hokies will win and cover which makes me not want to use the ML wager here. If you are entering a parlay though, VT moneyline is a good addition.

Against the spread

BET VIRGINIA TECH -2.5 (-110).

Neither of these teams have been scoring a lot of points this season as a rule. But the Hokies had 80 against the Tar Heels and 77 against Dayton. I trust its scoring a bit more then the Cowboys and with the Cowboys making a 2nd trip in as many weeks to the East Coast, I like the Hokies to win this game by at least 3 points. But not much more than 3. VT -2.5 (-110) is my play here.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 133.5 (-115).

As I said, neither of these teams score in buckets. The Hokies are 6 of 10 to the Under this season while the Cowboys are 5 of 9. This will be another lower-scoring game between 2 teams which want to control the clock. Under 133.5 (-115) is my favorite play here.

After beating Oregon by 24 points (83-59 as 3.5-point favorites Nov. 24), the Huskies upset then-No. 18 Alabama by 15 points (82-67 as 2-point underdogs Friday) to get to the title game. There, they topped Iowa State 71-53 Sunday, covering the spread as 5.5-point favorites.

This allowed the Huskies to make a massive leap in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll from No. 22 to No. 6.

Oklahoma State has not had a stellar start to the season, already picking up 2 losses in non-conference play. The Cowboys lost at home to Southern Illinois 61-60 Nov. 10 and to UCF 60-56 in overtime in a 1st-round game at the Bahamas Championship Nov. 18. OK State was favored in both losses, by 8 points vs. SIU and by 6 points vs. UCF.

The Cowboys have had trouble scoring with 4 of their 7 games going Under, while UConn has had 5 of its 8 games cash Over tickets.

The Huskies are on a roll. This could be another game in which a team gets no closer than 15 points at the final buzzer against them.

This will be a happy homecoming for the 6th-rankred Huskies (-475). However, the price is not the way to go here. It’s too expensive and not worth the risk.

Oklahoma State (+325) would be a nice payout, but it will not hit if UConn plays the way it has been so far from this season.

Against the spread

BET UCONN -8.5 (-110).

UConn and potential player of the year F Adama Sanogo will take control of this game early.

The Cowboys have not played a difficult schedule. Yet, they have 2 losses against the likes of Southern Illinois and UCF.

UConn is far better than either of those schools and it should win another double-digit contest in this matchup. Oklahoma State has a lot to improve and not enough time to do so before this one.

UCONN -8.5 (-110) is my FAVORITE PLAY.

Over/Under

BET OVER 135.5 (-105).

UConn has scored 80 or more points in 7 of 8 games this season. The Huskies will force the pace and the Cowboys will be forced to try and follow the leader.

With UConn likely to get to 80 again, Oklahoma State just needs to hit 56 for this to cash.

The Cowboys’ offense should see a bounce back against a Sooners defense that is allowing 432.3 total yards per game to rank 109th, especially with Sanders expected to play. The Oklahoma defense has been gouged for 200.2 rushing yards to check in 119th, too.

Against the spread

OKLAHOMA STATE +7 (-114) is a super attractive play.

The Cowboys have cashed in 10 of the past 12 games on the road while going 13-4-1 ATS in the past 18 games inside the conference. On the flip side, the Sooners are 1-6 ATS in the past 8 games overall, and 1-6-1 ATS in the past 8 Big 12 games, while going 0-5 ATS in the past 5 at home.

This is a gift, so take advantage.

Over/Under

Play OVER 67 (-110) is the lean, but go lightly.

The Oklahoma State offense is averaging 34.9 PPG to rank 25th in the country, while the Cowboys are allowing 30.0 PPG to rank 101st.

While the Oklahoma offense has been erratic, it is still good for 31.9 PPG, ranking 42nd in the nation, while allowing 29.1 PPG to check in 93rd.

What started off as a great story for Kansas has turned sour. No one thought they would get to 5 wins. The preseason total was 2.5. Saying this, once there Kansas hoped to keep things going. Unfortunately, the Jayhawks have crashed into the meat of their schedule and are on a 3-game losing streak.

The Jayhawks will need to play much better and hope for some turnover help from the Cowboys if they hope to pull off an upset on Saturday.

Oklahoma looked terrible last week. By the 2nd half, they were just playing to get out of the game healthy. They will have a different mindset this week as they need this game to remain in the Big 12 title contention.

Kansas, the loser of 3 straight games, comes into this game with a lack of motivation and a lack of matching talent. The beginning of the season for the Jayhawks was awesome. But it is now in the past. The Pokes are the better, more desperate team. The ML number moved from Oklahoma State -125 to the current number, making it my favorite play in this game.

Against the spread

PASS.

If the Pokes do win, it will be by more than 1 so the extra juice is not worth it. Might as well just take the Cowboys straight up.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 63.5 (-110)

These teams can both score. Despite the Cowboys being shut out 48-0 last week, this was just 1 week removed from them putting 41 on Texas.

Even with Kansas losing, they are still scoring. In its last game, Kansas was beaten by Baylor 35-23. With the offense of Oklahoma State set to put up points, 23 should be enough in this one to put the game over

The Cowboys rebounded nicely with a 41-34 win over Texas, making up for a 43-40 OT setback at TCU which left a bad taste in their collective mouths. This OSU offense is strong, going for 34 or more points in all 7 games, cashing the Over 6 times overall.

The Wildcats are hanging on to a top-25 spot despite losing at TCU 38-28 last time out. The loss for K-State came after a bye, so that was a difficult pill to swallow. Kansas State is 3-1 SU/ATS at home, with its lone loss to fellow top-25 team Tulane.

OKLAHOMA STATE (+105) is a value play here at plus-money, as I don’t think Kansas State (-130) is anywhere near as explosive on offense.

The Cowboys have registered 34 or more points on offense all 7 games this season, and the only concern is whether the defense can make things happen. OSU has been dinged for 31 or more points in each of the last 3 outings.

Kansas State’s offense has been inconsistent this season, and the pass game is nearly non-existent with 169.3 yards per game, ranking 118th out of 131 FBS teams. The run game is amazing, but that’s where Oklahoma State actually is decent on D.

Against the spread

OKLAHOMA STATE +1.5 (-108) doesn’t make a lot of sense to play unless you are absolutely convinced Kansas State (-112) is going to win by exactly 1 point. Just roll with the money line instead, and get plus-money.

Over/Under

OVER 55.5 (-110) is easily the best play on the board.

Oklahoma State’s offense hasn’t been slowed down much at any point this season, and Kansas State isn’t about to change that. And the Cowboys have been terrible on D, allowing 449.6 total yards per game. If the Wildcats can actually pass, this game will be easily in the 60’s or 70’s before the dust settles.
