Texas Tech at Oklahoma State: Three things to know

  1. Texas Tech had a bye last week following a 24-23 home win vs. Baylor Nov. 14 as a 1-point underdog.
  2. Oklahoma State got trounced in the Bedlam game against Oklahoma 41-13 last week. The Cowboys were outgained by 246 total yards, started the game down 21-0 and never really had a chance to win.
  3. The Red Raiders have beaten the Cowboys in back-to-back games and have covered five of six meetings, including four straight ATS wins.

Texas Tech at Oklahoma State: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Oklahoma State 28, Texas Tech 24

Money line (ML)

It’s difficult backing a double-digit favorite that consistently hurts its own chances as much as Oklahoma State. The Cowboys are minus-4 in turnover differential, 102nd in penalties committed per game and are ranked 115th in havoc allowed. Also, this is an awesome spot for Texas Tech.

First of all, I wonder if there is a hangover effect for Oklahoma State after getting punched in the mouth on national TV against in-state rival Oklahoma? Oklahoma State has dropped both its games to Big 12 powerhouses—Texas and Oklahoma—and will need some help to get into the conference title game.

Second, Texas Tech has played really well vs. Oklahoma State recently (see above) and head coach Matt Wells is 9-2 over his career in games immediately following a bye week, which includes his six years at Utah State.

There’s a legitimate shot Texas Tech pulls off an outright upset, but it is getting too many points and I am hitting the Red Raiders plus points harder. I lean TEXAS TECH (+300) for a quarter-unit.

Against the spread (ATS)

Most of the ATS handicap is in the money line section, but obviously, we are betting TEXAS TECH +11 (-121). However, I’d wait until the vig was reduced regardless of which way this number goes. Obviously, getting 11.5 points is preferable, but as long as we don’t procrastinate too long and this number drops to an even 10, it would be the worth the wait.

Additionally, the line movement gives me more confidence in Texas Tech. Oklahoma State opened up as a 12.5-point favorite, but the line has dropped despite 97% of the money and 89% of the bets placed are on the Cowboys, according to Pregame.com.

The Underdog is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings (all Texas Tech covers) and the road team is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings. I am not really a trends bettor, but that intel makes me feel better about backing the underdog. GIMME TEXAS TECH +11 (-121) for 1.5 units.

Over/Under (O/U)

Oklahoma State’s defense has been one of the better units in the country aside from its games against Texas and Oklahoma.

Also, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech’s combined Over/Under record is 5-10 O/U this season. However, the Over is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings and I don’t have a great feel for this total. PASS.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys (5-1) head into Norman to play the Oklahoma Sooners (5-2) Saturday. The kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Oklahoma State-Oklahoma college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Cowboys are ranked 14th in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports and the Sooners are No. 17.

  • Money line: Oklahoma State +200 (bet $100 to win $200) | Oklahoma -250 (bet $250 to win $100)

Oklahoma State at Oklahoma: Three things to know

  1. Oklahoma State’s injury report includes its two leading rushers—RBs Chuba Hubbard, who led the nation in rushing yards last season, and L.D. Brown—and their leader in interceptions S Kolby Harvell-Peel.
  2. Following a slow start, Oklahoma’s run game has really hit its stride over recent weeks. The Sooners gained 200-plus yards on the ground in back-to-back weeks and had six rushing touchdowns in each of their previous two games against Texas Tech and Kansas.
  3. Oklahoma State has lost five consecutive games to Oklahoma, including a 34-16 loss last season in Stillwater, and is just 2-13 against the Sooners under head coach Mike Gundy.

Oklahoma State at Oklahoma: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Oklahoma 33, Oklahoma State 24

Money line (ML)

Oklahoma (-250) is the right side but the only way this money line should be played (in my opinion) is in a parlay. That’s more of a personal preference; however, the Sooners’ implied win probability is 71.4% and they definitely beat Oklahoma State more than 70% of the time in this spot.

PASS for a cheaper price on the spread.

Against the spread (ATS)

The two factors I’m seeing that make me like OKLAHOMA -7 (-110) over Oklahoma State are the injury report and the Sooners’ edge in the battle of the trenches.

The Cowboys’ defense is considered one of the best in the nation but Oklahoma’s defensive line has been better and could exploit weaknesses in the Cowboys’ offensive line.

Oklahoma State averages just 3.9 yards per carry, the offensive line ranks 104th in line yards per carry and 111th in sack rate. The Cowboys are going against an Oklahoma rush defense allowing 3.5 yards per carry, a defensive line that is 12th in opponent’s line yards per carrying and ninth in stuff rate.

Second, if the Cowboys aren’t gaining yards on the ground they could be forced into obvious passing situations and Oklahoma has the nation’s second-highest sack rate on passing downs. Oklahoma State’s offensive line is ranked 117th in passing down sack rate.

GIMME OKLAHOMA -7 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

“LIKE” UNDER 58.5 (-106) for 1.5 units. Oklahoma State could be without a couple of key contributors on offense and should have trouble sustaining drives. The Cowboys are 71st in 3rd down conversion percentage and the Sooners are 19th in opponent’s 3rd down conversion percentage.

Oklahoma’s defense is trending up and both teams have struggled with turnovers at times this season. Oklahoma State is minus-four in the turnover differential this year and Oklahoma is minus-one.

Also, the Sooners’ rushing attack just started to come along but could definitely regress back to their earlier season production going against this top-10 Oklahoma State defense.

Oklahoma State at Kansas State odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Oklahoma State Cowboys at Kansas State Wildcats sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys (4-1, 3-1 Big 12) and Kansas State Wildcats (4-2, 4-1) meet in Manhattan, Kan., for a 4 p.m. ET kickoff Saturday. Below, we analyze the Oklahoma State-Kansas State college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Cowboys are No. 12 in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. The Wildcats received 64 points, five spots outside of the Top 25.

Oklahoma State at Kansas State: Betting odds and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 8:13 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Oklahoma State -455 (bet $455 to win $100) | Kansas State +350 (bet $100 to win $350)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Oklahoma State -12.5 (-106) | Kansas State +12.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under: 45.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Oklahoma State at Kansas State: Three things to know

  1. OK State was bumped from the ranks of the unbeaten, the last team to suffer a defeat in the Big 12, when it lost 41-34 in overtime to Texas last week in Stillwater. It was also the first non-cover for the Cowboys since Sept. 19 against Tulsa in the regular-season opener.
  2. K-State is also coming off a loss, as it was humbled at West Virginia 37-10 as a 5-point underdog. That snapped a 4-0 ATS run for the Wildcats, and the 10 points scored marked a season low. Their previous worst was 21 points in a seven-point victory at TCU on Oct. 10. This loss was their first since falling to Arkansas State in the Sept. 12 opener.
  3. The Wildcats are averaging 39.0 PPG in three games in the friendly confines of Bill Snyder Family Stadium, and 23.0 PPG in three road contests so far this season.

Oklahoma State at Kansas State: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

Oklahoma State 27, Kansas State 16

Money line (ML)

Oklahoma State (-455) was in the top 10 and sailing along until last week’s hiccup against the ‘Horns. Don’t expect a two-game losing streak, although risking more than four and a half times your potential return isn’t good gambling. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

KANSAS STATE +12.5 (-115) usually plays Oklahoma State tough, regardless of the records. The Cowboys are just 2-7 ATS in the previous nine meetings in this series, and 2-5 ATS in their past seven trips to Manhattan, too. In addition, K-State has covered six of its past seven conference tilts, and is 11-5 ATS in the past 16 at home.

Over/Under (O/U)

If you’re a frequent reader of my previews, you’ll know I’m not a fan of playing college football Unders in the 40’s. However, sometimes there are exceptions to be made. Play the UNDER 45.5 (-110) in this Big 12 matchup. The Under is 15-5 in K-State’s past 20 at home, and 17-5 in its past 22 as a home dog. The Under is also 5-2 in OK State’s past seven road trips, and 5-2 in the past seven inside the league. More important than trends, however, OK State is run-first. Running rags the clock, and is a friend to Under bettors. This won’t be your typical Big 12 shootout, as the Cowboys control the time of possession.
