Georgia football: Two targets to watch on NSD

Two targets Georgia football fans should watch as we approach National Signing Day.

In addition to Georgia signing all of its remaining commitments during tomorrow’s National Signing Day, the Bulldogs could also look to bring in a few more players to a class that already ranks No. 1 in the nation.

For Kirby Smart, the signing of these final remaining commits would be a win on its own, and you can view tomorrow’s schedule here — but being able to add one or two more players would add some excitement to a day that’s lost some luster since the addition of December’s Early Signing Day.

The two players for Georgia fans to keep an eye on tomorrow are 3-stars Daran Branch and Cameron Kinnie.

Branch is a 3-star cornerback out of Amite, Louisiana who ranks as the nation’s No. 672 overall player and is currently committed to play at Ole Miss.

Georgia is coming for Branch, though. He took an official visit to Georgia on January 24th and then visited Ole Miss last weekend.

Georgia offered the 6-2, 180 pound cornerback at the end of December and have been gunning for the Rebel commit hard, Branch told 247.

“I feel like I bring everything the coaches need to the table,” said Branch. “I can play any position. I’m very versatile. I’m a hybrid DB. I’m not just a corner. I’m not just a safety. I can go and play anything. I can play linebacker at the end if they want me to.”

Kinnie is a 3-star defensive tackle who comes from Suwanee, Georgia. He can play both offensive and defensive line.

Kinnie is a player who excels in the classroom and on the football field for his Collins Hill High School team.

“I am a hard-working, high-motor, cerebral guy who can see a lot so that is why I play center,” Kinnie told 247. “I am the guy you can trust with the ball in your hands on every play. I can read defenses, in after playing center for only one year. I am getting better, I am hungry, and I am humble.”

Georgia football: National Signing Day schedule

A look at Georgia football’s schedule for National Signing Day.

Georgia enters Wednesday’s National Signing Day with the nation’s No. 1 ranked recruiting class and will look to hold on to that top spot throughout the day.

With the Dawgs making a big splash during December’s Early Signing Day, there should not be a terrible amount of excitement taking place tomorrow in Athens, but the signing of a few commitments will be something to keep an eye on.

The biggest storyline of tomorrow for Georgia will be what 5-star offensive tackle Broderick Jones does. Jones has been committed to Georgia for a long time and Auburn was considered the Bulldogs’ top threat to flip him. However, Jones passed on a chance to visit Auburn last weekend, so things are looking good for Georgia in that regard.

Here is tomorrow’s schedule for National Signing Day:

Georgia commitments who will be signing:

5-star OT Broderick Jones: 10am

4-star OC Sedrick Van Pran: 11am

3-star WR Ladd McConkey: 11am

4-star RB Daijun Edwards: 1pm

Georgia football picks up commitment from in-state WR

The Georgia Bulldogs’ reloading offense has secured the commitment of a new weapon.

Following a small regime change, the Georgia Bulldogs’ reloading offense has secured the commitment of a new weapon.

Three-star wide receiver Ladd McConkey announced his pledge to suit up in red and black three days in advance of Wednesday’s National Signing Day.

The speedster out of Chatsworth’s North Murray High School projects as a potential return specialist in addition to being a sure-handed slot receiver. He runs a forty-yard dash in 4.56 seconds and exhibits footwork so impressive that he breaks opposing defenders’ ankles using his own.

Despite offers from Army, Vanderbilt, and multiple in-state programs playing outside Power Five conferences, McConkey pledged to become a Georgia Bulldog after an official visit to Athens this weekend.
