Nashville Predators at Dallas Stars odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Nashville Predators at Dallas Stars odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nashville Predators (6-5-1) travel to meet the Dallas Stars (4-5-2) Wednesday at American Airlines Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Predators vs. Stars odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Predators are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss against the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center Sunday. That sums up their play lately, as four of their last five outings have been one-goal games and three of them weren’t decided in regulation.

The Stars have also needed overtime or a shootout in three of their last five games, so look for a rather close game. Dallas has won just once in its last six games and has yet to win in regulation this season.

Predators at Stars projected goalies

Juuse Saros (5-4-1, 2.31 GAA, .925 SV%) vs. Braden Holtby (2-3-1, 2.46 GAA, .924 SV%)

Saros has allowed 2 or fewer goals in each of his past five starts and most recently yielded 2 goals on 32 shots in a 2-1 loss at Chicago Sunday. He hasn’t lost in regulation since Oct. 23 on the road against the Winnipeg Jets.

Holtby has coughed up 3 or more goals in each of his past three starts, going 0-2-1. He hasn’t won in regulation in his seven appearances, and he hasn’t won at all since Oct. 22 against the Los Angeles Kings.

Predators at Stars odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Predators 3, Stars 2

Money line

The PREDATORS (+122) are a strong play on the road. Nashville has just been playing much better than the Stars this season and it has the better of the backstops, as Saros hasn’t been yielding much of anything in between the pipes. Holtby has been touched up for 10 goals across his last three and you just can’t trust him here.

Against the spread

The Predators +1.5 (-230) will cost you more than two times your potential return if you’d like a little insurance. While it isn’t a terrible play, since Nashville has been involved in plenty of close games lately if you like the boys from Smashville you should just play them straight up.

PASS.

Over/Under

The UNDER 5.5 (-135) is the lean. The Under has connected in five of the last six for the Predators. The Over has hit in three straight for the Stars, but the Under is 8-3 across their last 11 games overall.

Toronto Maple Leafs at Philadelphia Flyers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Toronto Maple Leafs at Philadelphia Flyers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Toronto Maple Leafs (7-5-1) travel to meet the Philadelphia Flyers (6-2-2) Wednesday at Wells Fargo Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Maple Leafs vs. Flyers odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Maple Leafs saw their five-game win streak go up in smoke in ugly fashion, falling 5-1 Monday night against the Los Angeles Kings in the final outing of a five-game homestand.

The Flyers enter well rested, last playing Saturday. In that game, Philadelphia edged Washington on the road by a 2-1 count, its fifth consecutive Under result. Philadelphia is 3-1-1 at home this season, including a 3-0 win over Arizona in its most recent contest at Wells Fargo Center last Tuesday.

  • Money line: Maple Leafs -140 (bet $140 to win $100) | Flyers +115 (bet $100 to win $115)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Maple Leafs -1.5 (+170) | Flyers +1.5 (-230)

Maple Leafs at Flyers projected goalies

Jack Campbell (6-3-1, 2.09 GAA, .929 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Carter Hart (3-2-2, 2.41 GAA, .926 SV%, 1 SO)

Campbell is 0-2 against the Flyers in his career. He has a 4.01 GAA and a .857 SV%. He stopped 48 of 56 shots in what were barrages against him.

Conversely, Hart has been great in two games against the Leafs in his career. He’s 2-0 with a 2.40 GAA and a .929 SV% as he stopped 65 of 70 shots. Hart is 1-0-1 with a 1.48 GAA and a .954 SV% in his last two starts.

Maple Leafs at Flyers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Flyers 4, Maple Leafs 2

Money line

The FLYERS (+115) are a solid value at home as short dogs. The Maple Leafs (-140) haven’t been very good on the road, winning just once in the past five away from home. In addition, Toronto has won just once in its past six trips to Philadelphia, with the home team 9-3 in the past 12 meetings in this series.

Against the spread

The Flyers +1.5 (-230) are too expensive on the puck line, costing you more than two times your potential return. If you like them, just play them straight up.

AVOID.

Over/Under

The UNDER 6.5 (-135) is a strong play here. Campbell and Hart haven’t had a lot of rough nights, and “Soup” should bounce back after getting crowned by the Kings last time out. You might have to sweat out an empty net late, but the Under is the best play on the board here.

Carolina Hurricanes at Tampa Bay Lightning odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Carolina Hurricanes at Tampa Bay Lightning odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Carolina Hurricanes (9-1-0) travel to meet the Tampa Bay Lightning (6-3-2) Tuesday at Amalie Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Hurricanes vs. Lightning odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Hurricanes are looking to rebound after suffering their first loss of the regular season at the Florida Panthers Saturday. Carolina was topped 5-2, tying a season-low for goals scored, and marking the first time it allowed more than 3 goals in a single game.

The Lightning haven’t lost in regulation across their last five games, as Tampa is rounding into form after a bit of a slow start by its standards. The Lightning won 5-3 last time out at the Ottawa Senators Saturday.

Hurricanes at Lightning odds, spread and lines

  • Money line: Hurricanes +115 (bet $100 to win $115) | Lightning -140 (bet $140 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Hurricanes +1.5 (-220) | Lightning -1.5 (+165)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 5.5 (O: -120 | U: -105)

Hurricanes at Lightning projected goalies

Frederik Andersen (8-1-0, 1.83 GAA, .939 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Andrei Vasilevskiy (5-2-2, 2.40 GAA, .919 SV%)

Andersen looks to bounce back after allowing a season-high 4 goals on 27 shots in Saturday’s loss at Florida. He allowed just 9 goals on 205 shots in seven starts in October, but he has allowed 7 goals in two November outings.

Vasilevskiy allowed 2 goals on 34 shots in a 2-1 overtime loss at the Toronto Maple Leafs Thursday. He hasn’t lost in regulation across his last five starts. Vasilevskiy was 3-3-1 with a 2.14 GAA and .933 SV% with 1 shutout in seven outings against Carolina in 2020-21.

Hurricanes at Lightning odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Lightning 4, Hurricanes 2

Money line

The LIGHTNING (-140) are moderate favorites over the Hurricanes, a team they have developed quite a rivalry thanks to several more meetings last season due to the COVID-19 adjusted schedule. The two teams then met in the postseason, with Tampa Bay winning the series.

The Hurricanes have won just 17 of their past 52 trips to Tampa. While Carolina started hot with nine wins in a row, it’ll experience something new here, a two-game losing streak.

Against the spread

The LIGHTNING -1.5 (+165) are worth playing lightly. The Hurricanes have just one loss, but it was by 3 goals last time out. Tampa Bay cashed on the puck line in three of its final five regular-season meetings with Carolina in 2020-21. Look for the proverbial Lightning to strike twice.

Over/Under

Lean to the OVER 5.5 (-120) despite the presence of Vasilevskiy. The Over is 4-1-1 in the previous six for the Lightning as favorites, while going 7-3 in the previous 10 for the Hurricanes on the road.

Despite those impressive trends, play this lightly, as it might take a late empty-net goal to get you across the finish line.

Florida Panthers at New York Rangers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Florida Panthers at New York Rangers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Florida Panthers (10-0-1) face the New York Rangers (6-3-3) Monday at Madison Square Garden. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Panthers vs. Rangers odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Panthers haven’t lost a game in regulation through 11 outings, with their only setback a 3-2 shootout loss in Boston on Oct. 30. In its most recent outing, Florida dealt Carolina its first regulation loss of the season.

The Rangers had a rough time in Western Canada, picking up just two points in the past three games in Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary. After opening the road trip with a 3-1 win in Seattle, the Blueshirts lost to the Canucks in OT Tuesday, 3-2, and to the Oilers in OT Friday, 6-5. The roadie wrapped up with a 6-0 humbling against the Flames Saturday.

Panthers at Rangers odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:40 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Panthers -120 (bet $120 to win $100) | Rangers +100 (bet $100 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Panthers -1.5 (+195) | Rangers +1.5 (-280)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 5.5 (O: -120 | U: -105)

Panthers at Rangers projected goalies

Spencer Knight (4-0-1, 2.51 GAA, .918 SV%) vs. Igor Shesterkin (5-2-2, 2.30 GAA, .930 SV%, 1 SO)

Knight turned aside 30 of the 32 shots he faced Saturday in a win over the previously unbeaten Carolina Hurricanes. He has a 1-0-1 record while allowing three goals on 64 shots in two road outings this season.

Shesterkin was on the losing end of that 6-0 loss in Calgary, but he should get a chance to start this one. That was an anomaly, as he had been tremendous before that outing.

Panthers at Rangers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Panthers 3, Rangers 2

Money line

The PANTHERS (-120) are the lean, even though they’re just plain old due for a loss, and facing the Rangers (+100) in their barn is a difficult assignment. Yes, the underdog is 9-2 in the past 11 in this series, but Florida hasn’t been red-hot like this before.

Florida has won five straight meetings against Metropolitan Division opponents, while going 8-1 in the past nine against Eastern Conference foes. New York has actually won just one of the past six games at home, while going 1-4 in the past five as a home ‘dog.

Against the spread

The Rangers +1.5 (-280) will cost you nearly three times your potential return, and that’s just too expensive for insurance.

AVOID.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (-105) is the lean in this Monday evening affair. While you’ll be playing against a bunch of head-to-head trends, those aren’t as important since the teams have a much different complexion than the past.

The Under has connected in five straight on the road for the Panthers. The Under is also 7-0-1 in the past eight against Eastern Conference foes for the Rangers, while going 8-3-1 in the previous 12 games overall.

Nashville Predators at Chicago Blackhawks odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Nashville Predators at Chicago Blackhawks odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nashville Predators (6-5-0) face the Chicago Blackhawks (1-9-2) Sunday at United Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Predators vs. Blackhawks odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Predators picked up a 3-2 win at the Vancouver Canucks Friday for a fifth win in the past six outings. Since Oct. 24, the Predators are outscoring the opposition just 19-14.

The Blackhawks came close against the then-unbeaten Carolina Hurricanes Wednesday before falling 4-3 at home. Chicago then hit the road and was waffled by the Winnipeg Jets 5-1.

Predators at Blackhawks projected goalies

Juuse Saros (5-4-0, 2.34 GAA, .923 SV%) vs. Marc-Andre Fleury (1-7-0, 4.11 GAA, .881 SV%)

Saros has won four consecutive starts, including Friday’s 3-2 win in Vancouver when he stopped 26 of 28 shots. He has allowed 2 or fewer goals in each of the four victories.

Fleury has had a disastrous start to his Chicago tenure, losing seven of his eight starts. He was pounded for 5 goals on 33 shots Friday in Winnipeg, and has allowed 4 or more goals in six of his eight starts.

Predators at Blackhawks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Predators 3, Blackhawks 2

Money line

The PREDATORS (-110) are the play in this road outing as the Blackhawks have been a disaster through the first 12 games. Nashville is playing its fourth game in the past six days, and it’s 9-2 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation. For what it’s worth, Chicago has won each of its past seven appearances on Sundays.

Against the spread

The Blackhawks +1.5 (-270) are super expensive if you’re looking for a little bit of insurance and don’t quite trust the Predators -1.5 (+190). Each of Nashville’s past three victories have been one-goal games. Expect more of the same here.

AVOID.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (-102) is the way to go in this battle between Central Division rivals. The Under has cashed in four of the past five games for the Predators, while going 2-0-2 in the past four for the Blackhawks inside the division.

Plus, the Under is 7-2 in the past nine meetings in this series, including 4-1 in the past five meetings in Chitown.

Vegas Golden Knights at Detroit Red Wings odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Detroit Red Wings odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights (6-5-0) face the Detroit Red Wings (5-5-2) Sunday at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Golden Knights vs. Red Wings odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Golden Knights pounded the Montreal Canadiens by a 5-2 count Saturday, winning for the second time in three games on this current road trip. The last time VGK played consecutive days with no rest, it won 3-2 in overtime at the Dallas Stars Oct. 27.

The Red Wings slapped the brakes on a four-game skid, picking up a 4-3 overtime win at the Buffalo Sabres Saturday. This is the third back-to-back situation for Detroit. It is 1-1-0 in the previous two games when playing on no rest.

Golden Knights at Red Wings projected goalies

Laurent Brossoit (1-0-0, 2.97 GAA, .920 SV%) vs. Thomas Greiss (3-3-0, 3.45 GAA, .897 SV%)

Brossoit’s first start resulted in the 3-2 overtime win in Dallas Oct. 27 in the second end of the team’s only previous back-to-back. He has turned aside 46 of the 50 shots he has faced in 80-plus minutes so far this season.

Greiss has dropped each of his past two appearances, allowing five goals in each of the outings. He stopped 40 of the 41 shots in a win against the Vancouver Canucks Oct. 16 in his only previous start this season against a Western Conference team.

Golden Knights at Red Wings odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 5, Red Wings 2

Money line

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-140) are a decent play in this twilight affair in the Motor City. Vegas was blanked 4-0 in its first game on the road trip at the Toronto Maple Leafs, but it is averaging 5.0 goals per game across the past two outings. It appears news of acquiring C Jack Eichel in a trade has energized the offense.

Against the spread

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS -1.5 (+165) are worth a play as Vegas has outscored the opposition 10-3 across its past two wins. VGK is playing great hockey on the road trip, and it will be facing Detroit’s backup tendy, who has allowed 5 goals in each of his past two appearances. It’s a perfect recipe for another convincing win.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-110) is the lean, but it’s only worth a small-unit play. Vegas should do most of the heavy lifting here. There is concern with both teams playing in second ends of back-to-backs that the legs could be a little heavy on both sides. But it’s still early in the season, and we have backup goalies in net for both teams. We should see plenty of offense.

Buffalo Sabres at Seattle Kraken odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Buffalo Sabres at Seattle Kraken odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Buffalo Sabres (5-3-1) face the Seattle Kraken (3-6-1) Thursday at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Sabres vs. Kraken odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

After a hot start that saw them win three straight out of the gate, the Sabres are just 2-3-1 across their last six, including losses in the first two stops on the current road trip. Buffalo was tripped up 5-3 at San Jose Tuesday.

The Kraken were beaten down 5-2 at Edmonton Monday, and after a two-game win streak, Seattle has dropped two in a row while being outscored 8-3. The Kraken have posted a 1-3-1 mark against Eastern Conference teams.

Sabres at Kraken projected goalies

Craig Anderson (4-2-0, 2.50 GAA, .921 SV%) vs. Philipp Grubauer (3-4-1, 2.82 GAA, .896 SV%)

Anderson allowed a season-high five goals in San Jose Tuesday, so he’ll be looking for the bounce back. He won two straight and yielded just four total goals on 73 shots in the two games prior.

Grubauer has kept the expansion Kraken competitive. He’s allowed 3 or fewer goals in each of the past four starts, and six of the past seven outings, despite his losing record.

Sabres at Kraken odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Kraken 3, Sabres 2

Money line

The KRAKEN (-190) are a little more expensive than I’m comfortable playing, but the Sabres are just not playing well on this road trip. Buffalo has won just two of its last seven against Pacific Division teams, and it’ll lose in its first-ever meeting with Seattle.

Against the spread

The SABRES +1.5 (-175) are worth a look. A Seattle victory likely won’t come via blowout and the Sabres are 5-2 in the past seven against teams with a losing record, and two of the past three have been 1-goal games.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (-110) is the lean, but only play this one lightly.

The Under is 3-2-1 in the previous six for the Sabres as they’ve averaged 2.7 goals per game during the span. The Under is 2-1 in the previous three for Seattle and is 2-1-1 in four home games for the Kraken. This won’t be a defensive slog, but it won’t be an Over, either.

The Lightning opened with a rather dismal 2-3-1 record, but the defending champs are starting to round into form. Tampa Bay has won three straight games, outscoring the opposition 13-4 during the run. That includes a 3-2 win over Washington last time out.

The Maple Leafs have also won three straight, including a 4-0 win over the Vegas Golden Knights Tuesday, its most complete game of the season. Toronto is outscoring the opposition 12-6 during the streak.

Vasilevskiy allowed two goals on 33 shots in a 3-2 win over Washington Monday, his season-high third consecutive victory. He has allowed just four goals over the past 87 shots.

Campbell picked up the shutout against VGK, turning aside all 26 shots he faced. It was his the fifth shutout of his NHL career, and his third since Feb. 27 of last season.

Lightning at Maple Leafs odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Lightning 4, Maple Leafs 2

Money line

The LIGHTNING (+115) are slight underdogs heading north of the border to battle the Maple Leafs (-140). The defending champs have won six of their past eight trips to Toronto, while the road team is 5-1 in the past six meetings in this series. Look for Tampa Bay to keep up its good work against Toronto.

Against the spread

The Lightning +1.5 (-230) will cost you over two times your potential return, and that’s just too expensive. If you like them, just play the money line.

AVOID.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-140) is the lean, but it’s only worth a small-unit play.

The Over is 3-1-1 in the past five games overall for Tampa Bay. However, the Under has dominated for Toronto lately, going 5-2 in the past seven at home dating back to last season. The Lightning’s high-octane offense will get to Campbell, who is due for a poor outing.

Nashville Predators at Edmonton Oilers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Nashville Predators at Edmonton Oilers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nashville Predators (5-4-0) face the Edmonton Oilers (7-1-0) Wednesday at Rogers Place in Edmonton. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Predators vs. Oilers odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Predators have won four games in a row, including a 3-2 overtime victory in Calgary Tuesday in the first stop of its six-game road trip. Nashville has outscored the opposition 14-7 during the four-game win streak.

The Oilers pounded the expansion Seattle Kraken by a 5-2 count last time out Monday. That outcome was a lot better than their previous game at home against the Philadelphia Flyers as they were dropped 5-3 Oct. 27 for their only loss.

Predators at Oilers projected goalies

Connor Ingram (1-0-0, 2.02 GAA, .943 SV%) vs. Mikko Koskinen (5-1-0, 2.21 GAA, .933 SV%)

Ingram won his NHL debut in Minnesota Oct. 24, turning aside 33 of 35 shots. Starter Juuse Saros should get a much-needed rest against the high-octane Oilers after he was the backstop Tuesday against the Flames.

Koskinen has allowed 2 or fewer goals in four of his six starts this season, including last time out against Seattle when he allowed just 2 goals on 29 shots.

Predators at Oilers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 5, Predators 2

Money line

The OILERS (-205) are a little above my normal personal money line limit, but it isn’t a terribly risky play behind Koskinen at home. Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and company should give the young Predators backstop nightmares.

Against the spread

The OILERS -1.5 (+135) cashed the puck line last time out against Seattle, and three of Edmonton’s last four victories have been by 2 or more goals. Edmonton is a good bet, as it’s 4-1 in the past five meetings with Nashville overall, with the favorite going 13-5, and it’s cashed the puck line in three of those victories.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (-112) is the lean, ever so slightly. The Over has cashed in five of the last seven on the road for Nashville dating back to last season. It’s been “all Over, all the time” for Edmonton, going 4-0 in its last four at home, and 5-1 in its last six following a victory.

St. Louis Blues at Los Angeles Kings odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s St. Louis Blues at Los Angeles Kings odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The St. Louis Blues (6-1-0) face the Los Angeles Kings (3-5-1) Wednesday at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Blues vs. Kings odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Blues picked up a 1-0 win over the skidding Chicago Blackhawks Saturday behind Jordan Binnington. St. Louis has won six of its first seven games to start the year, which includes a two-game sweep of the visiting Kings Oct. 23-25.

The Kings were outscored 10-3 in those two games in St. Louis, as neither Cal Petersen nor Jonathan Quick had any answers for the Blues in that set.

Blues at Kings projected goalies

Jordan Binnington (5-1-0, 2.52 GAA, .926 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Calvin Petersen (2-2-0, 3.28 GAA, .895 SV%)

Binnington faced the Kings Oct. 23 and allowed 3 goals on 35 shots in a 7-3 victory. He has yielded 3 or more goals in four of his six starts despite having five victories.

Petersen was tagged for seven goals against the Blues in the first meeting Oct. 23 opposite Binnington. He was much better last time out as he madae 26 saves in a 5-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens Saturday.

Blues at Kings odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Blues 5, Kings 3

Money line

The BLUES (-130) are a solid value behind Binnington, as they just seem to have the Kings’ number. St. Louis outscored Los Angeles 10-3 in the first two meetings, so there is no reason to not keep banging them, even though the venue has changed.

Against the spread

The BLUES -1.5 (+170) are worth a small-unit play on the puck line. The Blues have had a high-octane offense that averages a league-best 4.7 goals per game, including a No. 2 ranked power play. St. Louis is also second on the penalty kill, another big reason for its success.

Five of its six victories have been by 2 or more goals, so if you like St. Louis straight up, you should like them on the puck line.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-110) is the lean here. As mentioned above, St. Louis has the No. 1 scoring offense in the NHL, and L.A. has found its offense lately after a slow start as it’s scored eight goals across the past two games which include an Over result Saturday against Montreal.
