Boston Bruins at Florida Panthers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Boston Bruins at Florida Panthers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Boston Bruins (3-1-0) face the Florida Panthers (6-0-0) Wednesday at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Fla. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Bruins vs. Panthers odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Bruins cooled off the red-hot San Jose Sharks Sunday with a 4-3 victory behind the goaltending of Linus Ullmark. The Swede has backstopped the last two games for Boston, both victories.

The Panthers are six up and six down so far as they topped the Arizona Coyotes 5-3 last time out. They’re just the 25th team in NHL history to open a perfect 6-0-0. The Over result against the Coyotes snapped a 3-0 Under run for Florida.

Bruins at Panthers projected goalies

Linus Ullmark (2-0-0, 2.00 GAA, .935 SV%) vs. Sergei Bobrovsky (4-0-0, 1.99 GAA, .942 SV%)

Ullmark has won back-to-back starts at the Buffalo Sabres Friday and against San Jose Sunday. He has allowed just 4 goals on 62 shots overall.

Bobrovsky has been stellar in his last three outings after he coughed up 4 goals to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Panthers’ season-opener. Bob has allowed just four total goals on 90 shots across the past three games, all victories.

Bruins at Panthers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Panthers 4, Bruins 3

Money line

The PANTHERS (-135) are a good play. Strike while the iron is hot, as this offense has registered 4 or more goals in each of their six victories. Florida ranks fourth in the NHL with 4.5 goals scored per outing, and it’s third with just 2.0 goals per game allowed.

The Bruins have struggled on the offensive end of the ice, and the power-play has just been so-so; the B’s are also rather marginal defensively. Look for Florida to keep up their winning ways.

Against the spread

The Bruins +1.5 (-230) are a little on the expensive side if you’re looking for insurance, and I just don’t trust them to win outright in an Ullmark vs. Bobrovsky goalie matchup. However, Boston has the offensive firepower to keep it close.

AVOID, and just play the money line.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-125) is the lean, although it’s only worth a small-unit play. The Over has hit just once in the past five for Florida. The Over is 2-1 in the past four for Boston as the Bruins are averaging 3.5 goals per game overall.

Vegas Golden Knights at Colorado Avalanche odds, picks, and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Colorado Avalanche odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights (1-4-0) and Colorado Avalanche (2-3-0) meet Tuesday night in Denver. Puck drop at Ball Arena is slated for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Golden Knights vs. Avalanche odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

Vegas has lost four of its first five games. Injuries have been a problem, and the Golden Knights have struggled offensively. F Max Pacioretty (shoulder) and F Mark Stone (lower body) are out, and that makes for 251 points from the last two seasons on the shelf. What’s left is averaging just 2.0 goals per game (28th NHL).

The Avs have been dealing with injuries and COVID-19 protocols. However, they got star F Nathan MacKinnon back from the COVID-19 list on a recent three-game road trip. McKinnon had a goal and 2 assists in a shutout win over the Tampa Bay Lightning Saturday.

Golden Knights at Avalanche odds, spread and lines

  • Money line: Golden Knights +155 (bet $100 to win $155) | Avalanche -190 (bet $190 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Golden Knights +1.5 (-170) | Avalanche -1.5 (+133)

Golden Knights at Avalanche projected goalies

Robin Lehner (1-4-0, 3.28 GAA, .908 SV%) vs. Darcy Kuemper (2-2-0, 3.51 GAA, .894 SV%)

Lehner stopped 24-of-26 in a 2-0 loss against the New York Islanders Sunday. He’s facing the Avs for the first time since Colorado got to him for 7 goals (5 even-strength, 2 power-play) in a May 30 playoff game.

Kuemper is off to a bit of a slow start. The 31-year-old clocked a .922 SV% over the last three seasons in Arizona. Kuemper has a solid history of performing well at home (.921 SV%).

Golden Knights at Avalanche odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 4, Golden Knights 2

Money line

Both teams are struggling, however, puck-possession and shot analytics indicate Colorado as at least playing a more representative brand of hockey thus far.

The Avs are returning home after a three-game road trip. Colorado was 8-0 last season in home games on the heels of multi-game trips.

BACK THE AVALANCHE (-190).

Against the spread

Consider splitting action on the Avs, going with a half-unit on the money line and a half-unit on the puck line. In those eight return-home victories last season, four wins were by margins of 3 goals or more. One of those — a 5-1 triumph — was against the Vegas Golden Knights.

TAKE COLORADO -1.5 (+133).

Over/Under

Respecting what looks to be a well-constructed number here: PASS.

Detroit Red Wings at Chicago Blackhawks odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Detroit Red Wings at Chicago Blackhawks odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Detroit Red Wings (2-2-1) and Chicago Blackhawks (0-4-1) renew their Original Six rivalry Sunday at 7 p.m. ET at United Center. Below, we look at the Red Wings vs. Blackhawks odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Red Wings are coming off back-to-back losses and are playing the back half of two games in as many days. Early-season returns have been mostly positive. Detroit ranks 13th in the league in scoring-chance percentage (50.8%)

The ‘Hawks are reeling. They’ve played over 300 minutes of hockey so far, and they’ve yet to have a lead.

To make matters worse, the Blackhawks had a COVID-19 outbreak. F Patrick Kane will miss the Red Wings game because of the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol, while F Ryan Carpenter and D Erik Gustafsson were removed from COVID-19 protocol, the ‘Hawks announced Sunday morning.

Red Wings at Blackhawks odds, spread and lines

  • Money line: Red Wings +135 (bet $100 to win $135) | Blackhawks -170 (bet $170 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Red Wings +1.5 (-200) | Blackhawks -1.5 (+150)

Red Wings at Blackhawks projected goalies

Alex Nedeljkovic (0-1-1, 3.55 GAA, .890 SV%) vs. Kevin Lankinen (0-1-1, 2.91 GAA, .884 SV%)

Nedeljkovic has stopped 32 of the last 34 shots in his last two appearances. That includes stopping all six shots he faced in a relief performance at the Montreal Canadiens Saturday.

Lankinen draws a second start in a row with No. 1 Marc-Andre Fleury struggling at the outset of the season. The second-year netminder allowed 3 goals in Thursday’s 4-1 home loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

Red Wings at Blackhawks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Red Wings 4, Blackhawks 3

Money line

Detroit outshot its opponents in both recent losses (Thursday, Saturday), and its expected-goals metrics thus far are impressive. Chicago was already dealing with blue-line injuries, and has been just out of whack all the way around. Chicago has had trouble creating quality looks from the slot.

BACK THE RED WINGS (+135).

Against the spread

PASS. Shoot for the plus payout on the money line.

Over/Under

Detroit’s early-season metrics make it an Over green light for now. Coming off one goal in its last two games helps the price here.

Both power plays have looked capable in the early going. In 5-on-5 play, both sides rank in the NHL’s bottom 10 in shooting percentage. More twine-finders are out there for both.

TAKE THE OVER 5.5 (-130).

Buffalo Sabres at New Jersey Devils odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Buffalo Sabres at New Jersey Devils odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Buffalo Sabres (3-1-0) face the New Jersey Devils (2-1-0) Saturday at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Sabres vs. Devils odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Sabres were dumped 4-1 at home Friday by the Boston Bruins, suffering their first loss of the season. Buffalo had a power outage with the one marker after averaging 4.0 goals per game in the first three outings.

The Devils are also coming off their first loss of the season, and it was by an identical 4-1 score at the hands of the Washington Capitals. And like Buffalo, New Jersey averaged 4.0 goals per game in the first two contests.

Sabres at Devils projected goalies

Dustin Tokarski (1-0-0, 0.92 GAA, .952 SV%) vs. Scott Wedgewood (0-1-0, 4.00 GAA, .852 SV%)

Tokarski picked up a win Oct. 16 against the Arizona Coyotes, allowing just one goal on 21 shots in a 2-1 shootout victory. This will be his first appearance against the Devils since allowing two goals on 18 shots in a 3-2 shootout loss on April 3, 2015, as a member of the Montreal Canadiens.

Wedgewood coughed up four goals in that loss Thursday against the Capitals. He is expected to get the nod again, as both Jonathan Bernier and Mac Blackwood are sidelined due to injuries.

Sabres at Devils odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Sabres 4, Devils 2

Money line

The SABRES (+135) are a strong value on the road, facing the third-string goaltender of the Devils (-165).

It’s a tough turnaround after playing Friday at home against the Bruins, but Buffalo has been sharp so far this season offensively. They’ll get it done on its first road outing.

Against the spread

The SABRES +1.5 (-190) isn’t a terrible play if you want a little bit of insurance and don’t trust the visitors straight up. While I like Buffalo on the money line as a much better value, playing it plus the goal and a half isn’t out of line.

Over/Under

UNDER 6.5 (-122) is the lean, even though we have a battle of backup goaltenders. These aren’t the most prolific of offenses, and we should see a fair amount of goals, but not enough to push the total Over.

Colorado Avalanche at Tampa Bay Lightning odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Colorado Avalanche at Tampa Bay Lightning odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Colorado Avalanche (1-3-0) faces the Tampa Bay Lightning (2-2-0) Saturday at Amalie Arena in Tampa Bay, Florida. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Avalanche vs. Lightning odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Avalanche dropped a third consecutive game at Florida Thursday night behind backup goaltender Jonas Johansson. Colorado has really struggled defensively, yielding 15 goals during the three-game skid.

Like Colorado, Tampa is coming off a 4-1 setback against the Panthers last time out. So far, the Lightning have a pair of overtime road wins, while going 0-2 in two outings at home. Tampa Bay is averaging just 1.5 goals per game and allowing 5.0 goals per contest at home

Avalanche at Lightning odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:10 a.m. ET.

Avalanche at Lightning projected goalies

Darcy Kuemper (1-2-0, 3.79 GAA, .890 SV%) vs. Andrei Vasilevskiy (2-2-0, 3.22 GAA, .893 SV%)

Kuemper had the night off in Sunrise against the Panthers, and Johansson really struggled in his stead. The regular starter will be back in there, and hopefully, a night of rest snaps him back on track.

Vasilevskiy has struggled in three of his four outings so far, yielding three or more goals in three games. That includes both losses at home, as he has stopped just 57 of 63 shots.

Avalanche at Lightning odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Lightning 4, Avalanche 3

Money line

The LIGHTNING (-120) and Avalanche (+100) have each struggled out of the gates. A lot of people figured this could be an early Stanley Cup Final preview based on preseason predictions, but neither side has been championship caliber to date. Tampa is going to get it done at home here, but it might require overtime or a shootout to determine a winner.

Against the spread

The Avalanche +1.5 (-280) will cost you nearly three times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk just for a little insurance.

AVOID and play the money line instead.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-130) is a little on the expensive side, but we should see plenty of goals with these two powerhouse offenses. The goaltenders will catch up eventually, but right now it’s all about the Over for both of these clubs.

Washington Capitals at New Jersey Devils odds, picks, and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Washington Capitals at New Jersey Devils odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Washington Capitals (2-0-1) and New Jersey Devils (2-0-0) meet Thursday for a 7 p.m. ET contest at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Below, we look at the Capitals vs. Devils odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

Washington is fresh off an impressive 6-3 win Tuesday over the Colorado Avalanche. The Caps played the Tampa Bay Lightning the game prior, so this contest figures as a drop in class. Washington went 8-0-0 against the Devils last season.

The Devils are playing the third of five straight home games after defeating the Chicago Blackhawks and the Seattle Kraken in their first two games. New Jersey outshot both the Blackhawks and Kraken and earned the victories despite being outscored a combined 3-0 on the power play.

Capitals at Devils projected goalies

Vitek Vanecek (last season: 21-10-4, 2.69 GAA, .908 SV%) vs. Scott Wedgewood (last season: 3-8-3 3.11 GAA, .900 SV%)

Vanecek owns a 1.44 GAA and .938 SV% through two games this season. He logged a 2.44 GAA and .902 SV% against the Devils last season.

Wedgewood stands in for the injured Jonathan Bernier and is appearing in his first game of the season. The Caps beat him up twice last season (.852 SV%, 9 GA).

Capitals at Devils odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Capitals 4, Devils 2

Money line

The Caps are 9-1-0 in their last 10 games at the Prudential Center, and they’ve been very good at both ends of the ice through the early going. So have the Devils but against foes that are a combined 1-6-2 so far.

Add in some New Jersey injuries: chief among those is F Jack Hughes (dislocated shoulder). Hughes has figured in three of the team’s eight goals this season.

BACK THE CAPITALS (-140).

Against the spread

The Caps getting a combined 73 shots against Tampa Bay and Colorado makes for enough confidence in at least a partial-unit play on the puck line.

BACK WASHINGTON -1.5 (+175).

Over/Under

PASS. The lean is on the Under, but avoid the play unless the price comes down.

Colorado Avalanche at Florida Panthers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Colorado Avalanche at Florida Panthers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Colorado Avalanche (1-2-0) face the Florida Panthers (3-0-0) Thursday at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Fla. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Avalanche vs. Panthers odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Avalanche welcomed C Nathan MacKinnon back from the COVID-19 list, and LW Gabriel Landeskog will be back after serving a two-game suspension for a boarding incident against the Chicago Blackhawks. Colorado is now whole, which is bad for everyone else.

The Panthers are coming off a 4-1 win at the Tampa Bay Lightning Tuesday. They’ve outscored the opposition 14-6. Florida has had all of this success despite ranking just 26th in power-play percentage.

Avalanche at Panthers projected goalies

Darcy Kuemper (1-2-0, 3.79 GAA, .890 SV%) vs. Sergei Bobrovsky (2-0-0, 2.47 GAA, .935 SV%)

Kuemper has started all three games, recently coughing up 5 goals on 39 shots in a 6-3 loss at the Washington Capitals Tuesday. He has been doing the heavy lifting with backup G Pavel Francouz nursing an ankle ailment.

Bobrovsky was involved in a seesaw affair in the opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins, picking up a wild 5-4 win in OT. He was much better Saturday, stuffing the New York Islanders in a 5-1 win, stopping 29 shots.

Avalanche at Panthers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 4, Panthers 3

Money line

The AVALANCHE (+100) are a great value at even-money with MacKinnon and Landeskog back in the mix. Kuemper has been a bit shaky in recent days, but he’ll get plenty of offensive support in this rematch of the 1996 Stanley Cup Final.

Against the spread

The Avalanche +1.5 (-260) will cost you over two and a half times your potential return if you want a little insurance and don’t quite trust Colorado straight up.

AVOID and play the money line instead.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (+100) is the lean at even money. Kuemper has been very giving lately. That trend continues against the red-hot Panthers offense.

However, Bobrovsky will have a similar performance like he had against the Penguins. The Avalanche offense will get it going early and often in this one. This is going to be a fun game.

Boston Bruins at Philadelphia Flyers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Boston Bruins at Philadelphia Flyers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Boston Bruins (1-0-0) face the Philadelphia Flyers (1-0-1) Wednesday at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Bruins vs. Flyers odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Bruins kicked off the regular season with a 3-1 victory against the Dallas Stars on Saturday behind G Jeremy Swayman. C Brad Marchand notched the first goal of the season on a penalty shot, while LW Jake DeBrusk had the game-winning tally. Marchand also added an empty-net goal, showing the B’s still have plenty of firepower.

The Flyers routed the expansion Seattle Kraken 6-1 Monday. G Carter Hart bounced back nicely after allowing four goals in a 5-4 shootout loss against the Vancouver Canucks in the regular-season opener Friday.

Bruins at Flyers projected goalies

Jeremy Swayman (1-0-0, 1.00 GAA, .964 SV%) vs. Martin Jones (15-13-4, 3.28 GAA, .896 SV%, 1 SO in 2020-21 with San Jose Sharks)

Swayman was outstanding in his season debut, turning aside 27 of 28 shots in Saturday’s 3-1 opener against Dallas. Only C Luke Glendening beat Swayman, and the B’s never trailed.

Jones will make his team debut with the Flyers after spending the past six seasons with the Sharks. He hasn’t had a winning season since the 2018-19 season when he was 36-19-0 with a 2.94 GAA and .896 SV%.

Bruins at Flyers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 5, Flyers 2

Money line

The BRUINS (-145) hit the road for the first time this season, and the moderate favorites are the play behind Swayman. Not only was he outstanding in the opener, but he was tremendous in his rookie campaign. He was 7-3-0 with a 1.50 GAA and .945 SV% with two shutouts, including a 1-1-0 record, 2.53 GAA and .923 SV% in two starts against the Flyers last season.

Against the spread

The BRUINS -1.5 (+160) are worth a small-unit play at plus-money. Jones makes his Philly debut, and he’ll be looking to impressive. But we’ve seen plenty of goaltenders, who changed teams in the offseason, have disastrous results in their first outing. Swayman already looks locked in, and the offense was impressive against Dallas.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-125) is the best play on the board here. It’s still obviously a small sample size, but we have had the Over hit in each of Philly’s first two games with a total of eight total in two home dates against Seattle and the Vancouver Canucks. Boston has the best offense Philly has seen to date.

St. Louis Blues at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s St. Louis Blues at Vegas Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The St. Louis Blues (2-0-0) face the Vegas Golden Knights (1-1-0) Wednesday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Blues vs. Golden Knights odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Blues have fired out of the gate with a pair of high-scoring wins. St. Louis opened its season in Colorado, winning 5-3 Saturday to cash as moderate underdogs, and it won 7-4 at Arizona Monday as heavy favorites.

The Golden Knights opened at this venue against expansion Seattle, settling for a narrow 4-3 win last Tuesday. They hit the road for Los Angeles, and the Kings dusted the Golden Knights 6-2 Thursday. Vegas has enjoyed a couple of days of rest, looking to regroup.

Vegas also has some big skates to fill, as LW Max Pacioretty will be out until around Thanksgiving due to a foot ailment, while captain RW Mark Stone is a question mark due to a lower-body ailment.

Blues at Golden Knights projected goalies

Jordan Binnington (2-0-0, 3.50 GAA, .879 SV%) vs. Robin Lehner (1-1-0, 4.21 GAA, .887 SV%)

Binnington has won each of his two starts, but he has coughed up seven goals in the two outings. He turned aside 22 of the 26 shots he faced last time out in Arizona, but the offense powered the team to a win to mask his shaky outing.

Lehner hasn’t been particularly sharp in his two starts since taking over the top job following the trade of Marc-Andre Fleury to Chicago. He was knocked around for four goals on 31 shots in L.A. last time out.

Blues at Golden Knights odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 5, Blues 3

Money line

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-130) are back on home ice, and that should snap them back on track after a shaky outing against the Kings. The Blues (+105) have won each of their two games, but the defense and goaltending hasn’t been up to snuff.

St. Louis hasn’t had a lot of luck against Vegas, going 1-6 in the past seven meetings and 1-5 in the past six trips to Sin City. The favorite has also cashed in 14 of the past 17 meetings overall, making VGK look all that much better.

Against the spread

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS -1.5 (+175) are worth a small-unit play at plus-money. They were 11-7 against the Blues last season and are looking to make a statement at home after a slow start.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-120) is the best play in this one. It’s not all about the trends, although that should make you feel confident. The Over is 9-2-1 in the past 12 meetings and 5-1 in the past six in Vegas. But the Over is also 2-0 for both teams, with the Blues averaging 6.0 goals per game so far, and the Knights averaging 3.0 goals per game while yielding 4.5 goals per outing.

Colorado Avalanche at Washington Capitals odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Colorado Avalanche at Washington Capitals odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Colorado Avalanche (1-1-0) face the Washington Capitals (1-0-1) Tuesday at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Avalanche vs. Capitals odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Avalanche opened with a 4-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks Wednesday, but they suffered a 5-3 setback against the St. Louis Blues Saturday. This will be the first road game of the season for the Avalanche.

The Capitals routed the New York Rangers 5-1 Wednesday in their season opener, pushing against the total, before falling 2-1 in overtime against the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning Saturday.

Avalanche at Capitals projected goalies

Darcy Kuemper (1-1-0, 3.09 GAA, .902 SV%) vs. Vitek Vanecek (1-0-1, 1.44 GAA, .938 SV%)

Kuemper replaced Philipp Grubauer, who is now the primary backstop with the expansion Seattle Kraken. The free-agent ‘tender stopped 32 of the 34 shots he faced in a win over the Blackhawks before coughing up four goals on 27 shots against the Blues.

Vanecek was exposed in the expansion draft and could have been a teammate of Grubauer’s, but the Caps traded for him back. He has been sharp, turning aside 23 of 24 shots against the Rangers, and 22 of 24 shots against the Lightning.

Avalanche at Capitals odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Capitals 4, Avalanche 2

Money line

The CAPITALS (-115) are a strong play at home against the Avalanche. Washington is still missing C Nicklas Backstrom (hip), and it could be a while before he returns, but the rest of the team is healthy and hitting on all cylinders.

Better yet, the Avalanche, already missing star C Nathan MacKinnon due to a COVID-19 result, will be without LW Gabriel Landeskog as he serves the final game of a two-game suspension for a boarding incident against the Blackhawks.

Against the spread

The CAPITALS -1.5 (+185) are worth a roll of the dice, although you might be biting your fingernails in the final minute or two hoping for an empty-net goal. This is only worth a small-unit play, but the bet is a good value. Vanecek is playing with a lot of confidence right now.

Over/Under

UNDER 6.5 (-122) is the lean here. With no MacKinnon and Landeskog, goals will be at a premium for the Avs, especially with how well Vanecek is playing out of the gates. The Under is 1-0-1 for the Caps so far, and Washington has allowed just 3 total goals across the first two contests.
