Anaheim Ducks at Colorado Avalanche odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Anaheim Ducks at Colorado Avalanche odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Anaheim Ducks (10-6-3) visit the Colorado Avalanche (9-5-1) Wednesday at Ball Arena in Denver. Puck drop is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Ducks vs. Avalanche odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Ducks have dropped back-to-back one-goal games after an eight-game win streak from Oct. 31 through Nov. 16. Defensive play and goaltending have been the key to Anaheim’s success as the Under is 7-2 across the past nine outings.

The Avalanche outlasted the Ottawa Senators 7-5 in a wild game Monday last time out and enter on a five-game win streak. Colorado is averaging 6.2 goals per game across the past five outings and the Over is 6-0-1 in its last seven games overall.

Ducks at Avalanche projected goalies

John Gibson (9-4-2, 2.36 GAA, .925 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Darcy Kuemper (9-4-0, 2.79 GAA, .906 SV%)

Gibson has been on the losing end of the past two starts in Nashville and against Carolina, although he allowed just five goals on 66 shots. He is an impressive 6-2-0 with a 1.86 GAA and .941 SV% and a shutout in eight November starts.

Kuemper has won five consecutive starts and has allowed three or fewer goals in nine of his past 10 outings. He coughed up five goals on 20 shots last time out Monday but still topped the Sens 7-5.

Ducks at Avalanche odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 5, Ducks 3

Money line

The Avalanche (-240) is quite expensive as it costs you nearly two and a half times your potential return. That’s not a recommended bet on a team which is scoring plenty but also giving up a lot of goals.

PASS, and play the puck line.

Against the spread

The AVALANCHE -1.5 (+110) is a much better play at nearly even money on the puck line. Colorado is putting up a ridiculous amount of goals lately. While Anaheim has started the season very well, and it has a very good penalty kill, Colorado is the play on home ice. The Ducks have dropped four straight against the Avs.

Over/Under

The OVER 5.5 (-122) is a great play, cashing in six of the past seven meetings between these clubs in Colorado.

The Over is also 5-2 in the past seven road games for the Ducks and 4-0 in the Avalanche’s last four at home. The Over is 6-0-1 in the past seven for Colorado as a favorite and it’s been scoring so frequently lately that there is an outside chance it takes care of the Over on its own.

Philadelphia Flyers at Tampa Bay Lightning odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Philadelphia Flyers at Tampa Bay Lightning odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Philadelphia Flyers (8-5-3) visit the Tampa Bay Lightning (10-4-3) Tuesday at Amalie Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Flyers vs. Lightning odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Flyers were dropped 5-2 by the Boston Bruins Saturday in their last outing and were on the short end of a 4-3 score in a shootout against Tampa Bay two games back in Philadelphia.

The Lightning outlasted the Minnesota Wild 5-4 in a shootout at Amalie in their most recent outing, and five of their last eight games have been unable to be decided in regulation. That includes the game in Philadelphia Thursday.

  • Money line: Flyers +145 (bet $100 to win $145) | Lightning -180 (bet $180 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Flyers +1.5 (-180) | Lightning -1.5 (+140)

Flyers at Lightning projected goalies

Carter Hart (5-3-3, 2.25 GAA, .932 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Andrei Vasilevskiy (8-3-3, 2.38 GAA, .917 SV%)

Hart lost to the Lightning last time out Thursday when he allowed three goals on 32 shots. C Brayden Point scored on the power play, while RW Mathieu Joseph and C Steven Stamkos also beat Hart in regulation.

Vasilevskiy turned aside 27 of the 30 shots he faced in regulation and overtime and stopped forwards Sean Couturier and Claude Giroux in the shootout for the extra point Thursday in Philadelphia.

Flyers at Lightning odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Lightning 5, Flyers 3

Money line

LIGHTNING (-180) is the play Tuesday night. They won in Philadelphia in the first meeting and they’ll top the Flyers on home ice.

Philadelphia has won just once in its last five tries against teams with a winning record while cashing in just two of the last seven against Eastern Conference opponents. In addition, the Flyers have won just three times in the past 15 trips to Tampa Bay.

Against the spread

The LIGHTNING -1.5 (+140) are worth a small-unit play on the puck line. Four of the last eight victories for Tampa Bay have been by two or more goals. On the flip side, three of the past four losses for the Flyers have been by two or more goals.

Over/Under

The OVER 5.5 (-115) has connected in five of the last six meetings between these clubs in Tampa Bay.

The Over is also 3-1 in the past four games for the Fly Guys, while the Over has hit in each of the last three for the Lightning. The Over is the best play on the board in this game.

Colorado Avalanche at Seattle Kraken odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Colorado Avalanche at Seattle Kraken odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Colorado Avalanche (7-5-1) visit the Seattle Kraken (4-11-1) Friday at Climate Pledge Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Avalanche vs. Kraken odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Avalanche ride a three-game win streak into Seattle for their first crack against the Kraken. Colorado doubled up Vancouver 4-2 Wednesday and have outscored the opposition 17-5 over the three-game span.

The Kraken were on the short end of a 4-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks Wednesday, and have lost five straight while being outscored 24-14. The good news is Seattle has scored at least two goals in seven straight.

Avalanche at Kraken odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 3:32 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Avalanche -150 (bet $150 to win $100) | Kraken +122 (bet $100 to win $122)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Avalanche -1.5 (+165) | Kraken +1.5 (-220)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 5.5 (O: -130 | U: +105)

Avalanche at Kraken projected goalies

Darcy Kuemper (7-4-0, 2.56 GAA, .916 SV%) vs. Chris Driedger (0-1-0, 3.43 GAA, .833 SV%)

Kuemper has won each start during the team’s three-game win streak and is 3-1-0 with a 2.00 GAA and .937 SV% in four November starts. He has been more giving on the road this year with 3.18 GAA on the road (compared to 2.03 GAA at home).

Driedger is confirmed to start, giving Philipp Grubauer a much-needed rest. It’s his first appearance since allowing four goals on 23 shots in a loss at the Vegas Golden Knights Nov. 9.

Avalanche at Kraken odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 5, Kraken 2

Money line

The AVALANCHE (-150) are the play against Driedger who could be a little rusty after such a long layoff. The Kraken have been able to score but haven’t been up to snuff defensively.

Against the spread

The AVALANCHE -1.5 (+165) is a good play against the very giving Kraken. Seattle has allowed a total of 24 goals, 4.8 goals per outing, over their five-game skid and that’s bad news with a game against the high-octane Avalanche on the horizon.

Over/Under

The OVER 5.5 (-130) is the play for this one. The Over has cashed in seven straight games for the Kraken, with an average of 7.43 combined goals per game in the previous seven outings for Seattle.

Winnipeg Jets at Vancouver Canucks odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Winnipeg Jets at Vancouver Canucks odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Winnipeg Jets (9-3-4) visit the Vancouver Canucks (5-10-2) Friday at Rogers Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Jets vs. Canucks odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Jets were dumped 2-1 in a shootout Thursday at the Edmonton Oilers, and now have the quick turnaround with the back-to-back. Winnipeg lost its only back end of a back-to-back this season 2-0 against the New York Islanders Nov. 6.

The Canucks lost for the fifth straight game (0-4-1) when they last played Wednesday. Vancouver has been outscored 23-8 over the four regulation losses, with G Thatcher Demko between the pipes for three of the defeats.

Jets at Canucks odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 3:03 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Jets -110 (bet $110 to win $100) | Canucks -110 (bet $110 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Jets -1.5 (+195) | Canucks +1.5 (-280)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 5.5 (O: -125 | U: +100)

Jets at Canucks projected goalies

Eric Comrie (3-1-0, 1.98 GAA, .926 SV%) vs. Thatcher Demko (5-7-1, 3.31 GAA, .898 SV%)

The Jets are likely to tab Comrie after Connor Hellebuyck started against the Oilers Thursday. He allowed two goals on 31 shots in a 2-0 loss to the Islanders in his last outing in the back end of the Jets’ previous back-to-back situation.

The Canucks are giving Demko a chance to iron out his issues, as he has dropped three straight, allowing 16 goals on just 94 shots. He is 2-4-0 with a 4.26 GAA and .863 SV% across six starts in November.

Jets at Canucks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Jets 5, Canucks 2

Money line

The JETS (-110) are playing on no rest, so there is a concern there, but they should be buzzing and able to generate offense against the skidding Demko. He has been very giving of late.

Against the spread

The JETS -1.5 (+195) are a worth a shot on the puck line for a chance to nearly double up. Demko has yielded 5.33 goals per game across his past three outings, so if Winnipeg has any energy in those legs after a tough shootout loss last night it should be able to get to him. The only concern is tired legs, not the opposing goalie.

Over/Under

The OVER 5.5 (-125) is the play, but again, the concern is the second end of a back-to-back. The Jets were blanked when they faced this situation before. That was also against a good Islanders team, not one of the most inconsistent teams in the league with a very giving goalie. It should be different this time around, so look for at least six total goals.

Detroit Red Wings at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Detroit Red Wings at Vegas Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Detroit Red Wings (8-8-2) visit the Vegas Golden Knights (9-7-0) Thursday at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Red Wings vs. Golden Knights odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Red Wings have dropped two in a row to start their current four-game road trip, losing 5-2 at the Dallas Stars Tuesday, and 5-3 at the Columbus Blue Jackets Monday. The Over hit in each of the outings.

The Golden Knights suffered a 5-2 loss at the Red Wings Nov. 7 in the season’s first meeting between the two clubs. Detroit G Thomas Greiss outdueled Vegas G Laurent Brossoit in a battle of backup goaltenders.

Red Wings at Golden Knights projected goalies

Thomas Greiss (4-5-0, 3.20 GAA, .907 SV%) vs. Robin Lehner (7-6-0, 2.93 GAA, .917 SV%)

Greiss was on the short end of a 5-3 loss in Columbus Monday, making 33 saves in the setback. He has a 1-3-0 record with a 3.31 GAA and .909 SV% in four November outings, but the lone win was against VGK Nov. 7.

Lehner turned aside 38 of the 42 shots in a 4-2 loss against the Carolina Hurricanes Tuesday, snapping his four-game win streak. He has allowed 2 or fewer goals in three of his past five outings.

Red Wings at Golden Knights odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 5, Red Wings 3

Money line

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-175) are moderate favorites and a bit risky considering the Red Wings won the first meeting in Detroit. However, VGK is on its home ice, in front of its raucous fans, and Lehner will be in between the pipes, not Brossoit. Look for Vegas to return the favor.

Against the spread

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS -1.5 (+145) are a nice value at home. Four of the past five victories for Vegas have been by 2 or more goals, so if you like Vegas to win, you should like them on the puck line, too.

Over/Under

The OVER 5.5 (-115) is the lean as the Over has hit in four straight on the road for the Red Wings, and eight of the past 10 as road underdogs.

For the Golden Knights, the Over is 5-0 in the past five as favorites, while going 5-1-1 in the past seven games overall.

New York Rangers at Toronto Maple Leafs odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s New York Rangers at Toronto Maple Leafs odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New York Rangers (10-3-3) travel to meet the Toronto Maple Leafs (11-5-1) Thursday at Scotiabank Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Rangers vs. Maple Leafs odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Rangers pushed past the Montreal Canadiens Tuesday by a 3-2 count at Madison Square Garden. The Blueshirts have won four in a row, hitting the Over in three of those outings, and five of the past six.

The Maple Leafs blanked the Nashville Predators by a 3-0 count Tuesday, winning a fourth straight game. Toronto is 9-1 in the past 10 outings dating back to Oct. 27. The Under is 3-1 in the previous four for the Leafs.

Rangers at Maple Leafs projected goalies

Igor Shesterkin (8-2-2, 2.42 GAA, .930 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Jack Campbell (9-3-1, 1.68 GAA, .943 SV%, 3 SO)

Shesterkin has won three consecutive starts, allowing 3 or fewer goals in six of his past seven outings. He is 3-1-1 with a 3.45 GAA and .908 SV% in five November starts, with the Rangers providing 4.0 goals of support in his past three outings.

Campbell turned side 21 of the 23 shots in a 2-1 overtime loss at home to the Rangers and Shesterkin back on Oct. 18. “Soup” is coming off a 24-save shutout against the Predators Tuesday.

Rangers at Maple Leafs odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Maple Leafs 3, Rangers 2

Money line

The MAPLE LEAFS (-180) are a little on the expensive side, but they’re the play against the Rangers in this revenge game. Toronto has been on fire lately, winning nine of the past 10 games, and it has won five of the past six games at home.

Against the spread

NEW YORK +1.5 (-180) is not terribly overpriced if you want a little bit of insurance. The Rangers won the first meeting in an overtime game, and two of the past three wins for the Leafs have been by one goal. New York isn’t a bad play on the puck line as an underdog if you want the insurance.

Over/Under

The UNDER 5.5 (-105) is the lean, although play it lightly. Shesterkin and Campbell haven’t allowed much this season, so the offenses will be challenged. When these two met in mid-October, we saw a total of 3 goals. Look for another Under here.

Washington Capitals at Los Angeles Kings odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Washington Capitals at Los Angeles Kings odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Washington Capitals (9-2-5) travel to meet the Los Angeles Kings (8-5-2) Wednesday at Staples Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Capitals vs. Kings odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Capitals forced overtime at the Anaheim Ducks Tuesday, but fell 3-2. That snapped a four-game win streak for Washington. The good news for potential Caps bettors is that they are 5-1 in the past six working on no rest.

The Kings were also tripped up 3-2 in overtime last time out, falling Friday at the Winnipeg Jets to close out a four-game Canadian road swing. L.A. won the previous three games, and is a sparkling 7-0-1 across the past eight.

Capitals at Kings odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 4:47 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Capitals -105 (bet $105 to win $100) | Kings -115 (bet $115 to win $100)

Capitals at Kings projected goalies

Ilya Samsonov (4-0-1, 2.93 GAA, .894 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Cal Petersen (4-2-1, 2.84 GAA, .902 SV%)

Samsonov gets the nod after Vitek Vanecek backstopped the Anaheim game. Samsonov has yet to taste defeat in regulation this season. He turned aside 26 of the 29 shots last time out in a 4-3 win at the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Petersen was on the short end of that 3-2 OT loss in the ‘Peg, and each of his three games in November have been decided by a 3-2 score in overtime, winning two of them.

Capitals at Kings odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Kings 3, Capitals 2

Money line

The KINGS (-115) are worth playing at home. Each of Petersen’s past three games have been 3-2 scores, and the Capitals lost Tuesday by the same count. That’s the predicted score here, too.

Los Angeles is the play as it enters with a whopping 11-0 win streak against Eastern Conference teams.

Against the spread

The alternate line of CAPITALS +1.5 (-350) is a little too expensive for my liking normally. Five of the past seven for the Kings have been decided by one goal, and five of the past eight for the Caps have been one-goal games. It’s not a bad play.

Over/Under

The UNDER 5.5 (-122) is the way to go here. The Caps are 5-2-1 to the Under across the past eight against winning sides, while the Kings have hit the Under in 11 of the past 13 at home, and six of the past seven overall. The Under is also 8-2 in the past 10 against Eastern Conference squads.

Chicago Blackhawks at Seattle Kraken odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Chicago Blackhawks at Seattle Kraken odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Chicago Blackhawks (4-9-2) travel to meet the Seattle Kraken (4-10-1) Wednesday at Climate Pledge Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Blackhawks vs. Kraken odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Blackhawks enter on a three-game win streak, including two victories as underdogs. Last time out was a 2-1 win over the Arizona Coyotes at home Friday. Each of the three wins are one-goal games, hitting the Under in each.

The Kraken are skidding, losing four in a row. While Seattle has averaged 3.0 goals per game, and scored at least 2 goals per game, during the losing streak, it has also allowed at least 4 goals in each outing and averaged 4.0 goals per game allowed.

Blackhawks at Kraken projected goalies

Marc-Andre Fleury (3-7-0, 3.50 GAA, .897 SV%) vs. Philipp Grubauer (4-7-1, 3.18 GAA, .880 SV%)

Fleury has found his sea legs after a rough start to his tenure in Chitown. He has backstopped back-to-back wins, including a 3-2 shootout against the Pittsburgh Penguins Tuesday against his original NHL team.

Grubauer, a Vezina Trophy finalist last season with the Colorado Avalanche, is finding expansion team life tough. He has dropped three straight games, allowing 13 goals during the span, including at least 3 goals in each loss. He enters 1-3-0 with a 3.87 GAA and .847 SV% in four November starts.

Blackhawks at Kraken odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Blackhawks 4, Kraken 3

Money line

The BLACKHAWKS (+122) are a great value on the road as they enter on a three-game win streak, lately finding ways to win. The Kraken are moderate favorites for a team struggling and playing poor defense with inconsistent goaltending.

Against the spread

The Blackhawks +1.5 (-220) have been involved in one-goal games the past three times out, all wins. Six of their last 10 games have been decided by one goal. Still, this is too expensive if you want a little insurance. If you like the Blackhawks, just play them straight up.

PASS.

Over/Under

The OVER 5.5 (-115) has been the rule for the Kraken, cashing in six straight games. It’s worth playing lightly here as the Blackhawks actually enter on a 3-0 Under run. But even Chicago’s sputtering offense should find some success in Seattle.

Carolina Hurricanes at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Carolina Hurricanes at Vegas Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Carolina Hurricanes (11-2-0) travel to meet the Vegas Golden Knights (9-6-0) Tuesday at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Hurricanes vs. Golden Knights odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Hurricanes opened the season on a perfect 9-for-9 run, but they’re just 2-2 across their last four outings, including three straight one-goal games. The Hurricanes won their most recent trip to Vegas, a pre-pandemic game on Feb. 8, 2020, by a 6-5 count in a shootout.

The Golden Knights outmuscled the Vancouver Canucks 7-4 last time out. Vegas has won three straight, averaging 4.7 goals per game while allowing 2.7 goals per outing. The Over is 5-1 in its past six outings.

Hurricanes at Golden Knights projected goalies

Frederik Andersen (9-2-0, 1.78 GAA, .938 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Robin Lehner (7-5-0, 2.83 GAA, .918 SV%)

Andersen has silenced fans that whined about the trade of Alex Nedeljkovic in a big hurry. He has allowed two or fewer goals in eight of his past 10 appearances, including 26 saves on 28 shots in a 2-1 loss at home against Philadelphia. The offense just didn’t support him very well then.

Lehner has won four straight starts, and offensive support hasn’t been an issue for him. The Golden Knights have provided a total of 21 goals, or 5.3 goals per game, in his previous four outings.

Hurricanes at Golden Knights odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Hurricanes 3

Money line

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (+110) are a golden value on The Strip as short ‘dogs. Not much is cheap in Vegas these days, but this is a value you need to jump on. Vegas has been humming offensively lately, and it really seems to respond when Lehner is in between the pipes.

Against the spread

The Golden Knights +1.5 (-230) are just too expensive on the puck line if it is insurance you are seeking. If you like Vegas, even a little, the value is playing them straight up.

PASS.

Over/Under

The OVER 5.5 (-135) has cashed in five of the past six for the Golden Knights, as they’ve posted four or more goals in four of the past six outings. VGK has just 3.1 goals per game overall, ranking a rather middling 14th, but they’re improving upon that day by day.

The Hurricanes rank ninth in the NHL with 3.5 goals per game, and the Golden Knights have been very giving. Yes, Carolina is No. 1 with just 1.9 goals per game allowed, but they haven’t faced a red-hot offense like Vegas in a while.

The Predators have ripped off three consecutive wins, scoring exactly four goals in each, while allowing a total of six goals. Nashville is also a perfect 3-0 in its last three as an underdog.

The Maple Leafs outlasted the Buffalo Sabres 5-4 Saturday, and they also enter on a three-game heater. Toronto is averaging 3.3 goals per game across the win streak while allowing 1.7 goals per outing.

Predators at Maple Leafs projected goalies

Juuse Saros (7-4-1, 2.17 GAA, .927 SV%) vs. Jack Campbell (8-3-1, 1.82 GAA, .939 SV%, 2 SO)

Saros has been on fire with a 4-0-1 record, 1.79 GAA and .940 SV% in five starts in November. He hasn’t lost in regulation across his last seven starts dating back to Oct. 23 against the Jets in Winnipeg.

Campbell turned aside 30 of 31 shots in a 2-1 overtime win Friday against the Calgary Flames last time out. He has rattled off a 5-1-0 mark with a 1.32 GAA and .958 SV% with 2 shutouts in six November outings.

Predators at Maple Leafs odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Maple Leafs 3, Predators 1

Money line

The MAPLE LEAFS (-205) are a little on the expensive side, especially facing off against a Predators side which has been pretty hot lately. This is going to be a very competitive, low-scoring game with two red-hot goaltenders, but the home side will prevail in the end.

Against the spread

The MAPLE LEAFS -1.5 (+130) is worth a look, although don’t be surprised to win this wager late on an empty-net goal, as scores should be at a premium with Saros and Campbell holding down the crease.

Over/Under

The UNDER 5.5 (-105) is the best play on the board. Nashville has managed 2.9 goals per game, ranking just 19th in the NHL, while yielding just 2.6 goals per game to rank sixth. It’s all about forechecking, defense and goaltending for the Predators.

Toronto has also had a hard time lighting the lamp, going for just 2.7 goals per game, ranking 25th, while allowing only 2.6 goals per game to check in eighth in the league.
