Winnipeg Jets at Colorado Avalanche Game 4 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Winnipeg Jets at Colorado Avalanche odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Winnipeg Jets try to even things up against the Colorado Avalanche in Game 4 of their best-of-7 Western Conference, 1st-round series at Ball Arena on Sunday. The Avs lead the series 2-1. Puck drop is set for 2:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Jets vs. Avalanche odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Jets got smoked 5-2 in Game 2 Tuesday and 6-2 on Friday. They actually led Game 3 going into the 3rd 2-1 before Colorado exploded for 5 goals. LW Kyle Connor has been quiet since his 2 Game 1 goals with an assist and 4 total shots on goal in the past 2 games.

C Nathan MacKinnon had a goal and an assist while landing 8 shots on goal. He has a point in every series and 2+ points in 2 of the 3. The Avs appear to be finding their offensive stride at just the right time. The 3rd period of Game 3 proved they can still flip a game over on a dime.

Jets at Avalanche projected goalies

Connor Hellebuyck (37-4-1, 2.35 GAA, .925 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Alexandar Georgiev (36-15-5, 2.57 GAA, .907 SV%, 2 SO)

Hellebuyck has not been good this entire series. He has allowed 6, 4 and 5 goals in the 3 games for a 5.05 GAA and .871 SV%. He has to tighten it up or else the Jets are going home.

Georgiev has turned his play around. After giving up 7 goals in Game 1, he stopped 50 of 54 shots in Games 2 and 3. As long as he can keep the Jets at 4 or under, the Avs have a really good shot.

Jets at Avalanche picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 5, Jets 3

Moneyline

I’m not usually keen on paying -165 for a ML, but it makes sense here. The Avs can score with anyone and have scored 5+ goals in each game of the series. With Georgiev finding his stride, they’ll back to being lethal.

Take the AVALANCHE -165.

Puck line/Against the spread

After just 2 SOG in Game 2, MacKinnon roared back with 8 shots in Game 3. It’s a little chalky, but I like NATHAN MACKINNON OVER 4.5 SHOTS (-145).

Over/Under

Every game has gone Over thus far, and I don’t see any reason to believe that it won’t continue. The Over is 6-1-3 in the last 10 meetings between the teams.

Take the OVER 6.5 (-120).

Winnipeg Jets at Colorado Avalanche Game 3 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Winnipeg Jets at Colorado Avalanche odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Winnipeg Jets and Colorado Avalanche meet Friday in Game 3 of a best-of-7 Western Conference 1st-round series. Puck drop from Ball Arena is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Jets vs. Avalanche odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Playoff series: Tied 1-1

The Jets posted a wild 7-6 victory in Game 1, as Kyle Connor and Adam Lowry each scored 2 goals. Connor Hellebuyck was good for 40 saves on 46 shots to outlast the Avalanche.

In Game 2, the Avs beat Hellebuyck for 4 goals on 31 shots, as Colorado leveled the series with a 5-2 victory. The Over (6.5) barely cashed, but is 2-0 in this series, with an average of 10.0 combined goals per game.

The Avalanche had goals from Miles Wood, Artturi Lehkonen, Zach Parise, Josh Manson and Valeri Nichushkin, and some of those guys are unlikely sources of offense. Nichushkin and Wood have 2 goals and 4 points in the series, while Lehkonen is good for 2 goals and 6 points in the 2 games.

  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Jets at Avalanche projected goalies

Connor Hellebuyck (37-19-4, 2.39 GAA, .921 SV%, 5 SO – regular season) vs. Alexander Georgiev (38-18-5, 3.02 GAA, .897 SV%, 2 SO – regular season)

Hellebuyck has some ugly numbers in this series, going 1-1-0 with a 5.04 GAA and .870% in the 2 games in Winnipeg. We expected this to be a high-scoring series, but this has been ridiculous. Still, it’s unlikely that we’ll see the backup Laurent Brossoit barring an injury.

Georgiev was tagged for 7 goals on just 23 shots in Game 1, but he was much better in Game 2, limiting Winnipeg to only 2 goals on 30 shots in the win. Still, he is 1-1-0 with an unseemly 4.63 GAA and .830 SV%, but there is little chance we’ll see the backup Justus Annunen, especially since he hasn’t been quite 100 percent healthy lately.

Jets at Avalanche picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 4, Jets 3

Moneyline

The AVALANCHE (-175) is worth playing, although this is a little pricey given the high-octane offenses on both sides. The 1st 2 games showed us that we’re going to have a lot of wide-open hockey with very little defense, and no lead is safe.

The Jets (+145) are a tempting play as moderate underdogs, but Georgiev, Cale Makar and the rest of the Avs tossed a blanket on Winnipeg defensively, making the proper adjustments after Game 1, so be careful there.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Jets +1.5 (-275) would set you back nearly 3 times your potential return, if you’re searching for a little insurance, and just can’t back Winnipeg straight up. That’s not a recommended betting strategy, as the reward is just so little with a ton of risk.

AVOID.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (-110) is a good play, and it has been an ace in this series so far. We’ll see if the change of venue makes a difference, as things shift to the Mile High City. It’s unlikely to mean a slow down in offense, though.

Colorado has cashed the Over in 8 of the past 9 games since April 4, scoring 3.89 goals per game (GPG) in those 9 contests, while allowing 4.5 GPG (36 goals) in the past 8 outings.

The Jets have cashed the Over in 5 in a row, too, going for 4 or more goals in 4 of those games. Go high, until the defenses actually show up.

Colorado Avalanche at Winnipeg Jets Game 2 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Colorado Avalanche at Winnipeg Jets odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Colorado Avalanche try to rebound against the Winnipeg Jets in Game 2 of their best-of-7 Western Conference, 1st-round series at Canada Life Centre Tuesday. Puck drop is set for 9:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Avalanche vs. Jets odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

We cashed all 3 bets as the Jets held on for a 7-6 win in Game 1 Sunday. C Nathan MacKinnon had a goal and an assist, and RD Cale Makar had a goal and 2 assists. The Avs’ bugaboo rendered its head again, though, as G Alexandar Georgiev allowed 7 goals on 23 shots.

The Jets got up 6-3 a few minutes into the final period, but the Avs made it close. G Connor Hellebuyck was treated like a firing squad, stopping 40 of 46 shots. LW Kyle Connor stepped up with 2 goals in the 3rd period to keep his team afloat. The Jets have now won all 4 meetings against the Avs this season.

  • Puck line (PL)/Against the spread (ATS): Avalanche -1.5 (+200) | Jets +1.5 (-250)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Avalanche at Jets projected goalies

Alexandar Georgiev (36-15-5, 2.57 GAA, .907 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Connor Hellebuyck (7-4-1, 2.35 GAA, .925 SV%, 2 SO)

Georgiev has been a dumpster fire of late, allowing 4+ goals in 5 of 6 starts to end the regular season. He was 0-2 with a 5.66 GAA and .833 SV% in 2 starts against the Jets this year before allowing 7 goals on 23 shots in Game 1. The team could turn to backup Justus Annunen, who was bothered by an illness coming into the series. At the very least, Georgiev will have a short hook.

“Helley” was very human in this one, allowing 6 to go by but stopping 40 in the process. He struggled in the playoffs last season, going 1-4 with a 3.44 GAA and .886 SV%, which is a big cause for concern. If this series becomes a track meet, the Avs would benefit. Hellebuyck stopped 92 of 96 shots the Avs fired at him in 3 regular season games.

Avalanche at Jets picks and predictions

Prediction

Jets 4, Avalanche 3

Moneyline

The Jets showed resilience in Game 1. Colorado went up 3-2 with under 5 to go in the 1st, and they tied it 48 seconds later. The Jets scored the next 3 goals, and the Avs made a run, but it wasn’t enough.

The problem, though, is that the Jets can’t survive a lengthy track meet. They don’t have the elite players to keep up with MacKinnon, Makar and RW Mikko Rantanen. Conversely, the Avs can’t compete if their goalie is Swiss cheese between the pipes. The books like the Avalanche to counter. I don’t think they do until they hit home ice, though.

Take the JETS +100.

Puck line/Against the spread

I’m going to PASS on the puck line and go right back to the well.

Hellebuyck had 40 saves in Game 1 and 30+ saves in all 3 meetings during the regular season.

Take CONNOR HELLEBUYCK OVER 29.5 SAVES (-130).

Over/Under

We cashed an Over 5.5 in the 1st period of Game 1. The books have reacted, but I still like the Over.

The final scores of each matchup this season were 7-6, 7-0, 6-2 and 4-2. It’s not nearly as attractive as Game 1, but LEAN OVER 6.5 (+100).

Colorado Avalanche at Winnipeg Jets Game 1 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Colorado Avalanche at Winnipeg Jets Game 1 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Colorado Avalanche (50-25-7) hit the road to face the Winnipeg Jets (52-24-6) in Game 1 of their 1st-round series at Canada Life Centre. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Avalanche vs. Jets odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Avs are in the unusual spot of 3rd place in the Central Division as they struggled between the pipes, tied for 16th with 3.07 goals allowed per game. They still have a great offense, leading the league with 3.68 goals per game (GPG). C Nathan MacKinnon took his game to another level with 140 points and put his name firmly in the running for the Hart Trophy.

The Jets go as G Connor Hellebuyck goes, and they were tied for 1st with 2.41 goals allowed per game. Offensively, the Jets were 15th with 3.16 GPG and 22nd on the power play at 18.8%. LW Kyle Connor led the team with 34 goals in 65 games. The Jets beat up on the Avs this season, going 3-0 and outscoring them 17-4 in the process.

Avalanche at Jets projected goalies

Alexandar Georgiev (36-15-5, 2.57 GAA, .907 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Connor Hellebuyck (7-4-1, 2.35 GAA, .925 SV%, 2 SO)

Georgiev struggled to end the season, allowing 4+ goals in 5 of 6 starts. In one of those, he was yanked 15 minutes into it against Winnipeg after allowing 4 goals on 15 shots. He was 0-2 with a 5.66 GAA and .833 SV% in 2 starts against the Jets this year. He is 3-5 with a 2.53 GAA and .917 SV% in 9 career playoff games.

“Helley” is a front runner for the Vezina Trophy after posting the 2nd-best SV% in the league. He also stopped the 2nd-most shots with the 2nd-most wins. He struggled in the playoffs last season, going 1-4 with a 3.44 GAA and .886 SV%. His workload during the regular season came under fire, and he made 4 fewer starts this season. He is 17-23 with a 2.58 GAA and .916 SV% in 40 career playoff games.

Avalanche at Jets picks and predictions

Prediction

Jets 4, Avalanche 3

Moneyline

The Avs enter the playoffs without captain Gabriel Landeskog (knee), who doesn’t appear close to returning. LW Jonathan Drouin, who had 19 goals, is also out with a lower-body injury. They still have enough firepower to ground the Jets. The books do, too, as BetMGM has the Avs -125 to win the series, and the Jets are +105.

I’m not as confident on this Avs team. They really don’t have the confidence in goal to make a deep run. The Jets were 27-11-3 at home this season, and the Avs were just 19-16-6 away from Ball Arena.

The JETS -115 take Game 1.

Puck line/Against the spread

I’m going to PASS on the puck line and look toward the goalies.

Hellebuyck had 30+ saves in all 3 meetings this season, and I believe Colorado will come out of the gates firing.

Take CONNOR HELLEBUYCK OVER 29.5 SAVES (-110).

Over/Under

The final scores of each matchup this season were 7-0, 6-2 and 4-2. We have had 6+ goals in 8 of 10 matchups between the teams.

OVER 5.5 (-120) is my favorite bet in this game.

Vancouver Canucks at Winnipeg Jets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Vancouver Canucks at Winnipeg Jets odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Vancouver Canucks (50-22-9) visit the Winnipeg Jets (51-24-6) on the final day of the NHL regular season Thursday. Puck drop from Canada Life Centre is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Canucks vs. Jets odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Vancouver has won back-to-back games after taking down the Calgary Flames 4-1 Tuesday to cash as a -207 home favorite. With a goal in each period, including 2 in the 1st, the Canucks rolled past the Flames. Four different Canucks players scored, while D Tyler Myers had a goal and an assist in the win.

Winnipeg has won 7 games in a row after edging out the Seattle Kraken 4-3 Tuesday as a -216 home favorite. The Jets had a goal in each period, including 2 in the 1st and the tiebreaker in the 3rd. LW Kyle Connor found the back of the net twice in the victory, and LW Nikolaj Ehlers had a goal and an assist.

Both Vancouver and Winnipeg have already secured their spots in the playoffs.

Canucks at Jets projected goalies

Thatcher Demko (35-13-2, 2.44 GAA, .918 SV%, 5 SO) vs. Connor Hellebuyck (37-19-4, 2.39 GAA, .921 SV%, 5 SO)

Demko has been among the premier goalies in the NHL this season. His record is good for 6th-best, his GAA and shutouts rank 5th, and he has the 5th-highest SV%. Vancouver is 4-0 in his last 4 starts, with Demko allowing 3 combined goals in that span.

Hellebuyck has also been one of the top goalies in the league this season. He has the 2nd-best record and SV%, the 4th-best GAA, and ranks 5th in shutouts. The Jets are 5-0 in his last 5 starts, and he has allowed 10 goals total in that span.

Canucks at Jets picks and predictions

Prediction

Jets 3, Canucks 2

Moneyline

BET JETS (-130).

While this game is meaningless in terms of playoff implications, this will be a battle between 2 of the top teams in the league. Both are strong contenders for the Stanley Cup; however, the Jets have been playing stronger lately.

Winnipeg has won each of its last 7 games, including its last 3 on home ice. It has had 2 shutouts in its last 3 games and scored 11 goals combined in its last 2.

With home-ice advantage, back the Jets Thursday.

Puck line/Against the spread

PASS.

These teams are fairly matched with one another, so there is minimal value on a spread of 1.5 goals in either direction.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 5.5 (+100).

Both teams have top defenses in the NHL.

The Canucks have hit the Under in back-to-back games, allowing just 2 combined goals over that span, and held opponents to 3 goals or fewer in 7 of their last 10.

The Jets have had 2 shutouts in their last 3 games and allowed 3 goals or fewer in each of their last 8.

Winnipeg Jets at Dallas Stars odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Winnipeg Jets at Dallas Stars odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Winnipeg Jets (48-24-6) take on the Dallas Stars (50-20-9) Thursday at American Airlines Center. Puck drop is set for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Jets vs. Stars odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Jets are in, but they trail the Colorado Avalanche by 2 points for 2nd in the division. They have reeled off 4 straight wins after a 6-game losing streak. They took out the surging Nashville Predators 4-3 in overtime Tuesday. LW Kyle Connor hit the game-winner, which gave him goals in 2 straight.

The Stars have all but locked up the top spot in the Central Division with a 5-point lead on the Avalanche with 3 games to go. Any sort of point in this game locks that up. They’re also up 4 points on the Vancouver Canucks for the top seed in the West, and they could lock that up as well. The Stars are 9-1 over their last 10 games.

Jets at Stars projected goalies

Connor Hellebuyck (35-19-4, 2.42 GAA, .920 SV%, 4 SO) vs. Jake Oettinger (33-13-4, 2.81 GAA, .903 SV%, 3 SO)

Hellebuyck was awesome in the overtime win in Nashville Tuesday, stopping a season-high 45 of 48 shots fired his way. Due to the heavy work, it’s possible the Jets sit him in order to face the Avs, whom they’re chasing, Saturday afternoon. Hellebuyck is 0-3 with a 2.73 GAA and .906 SV% against the Stars this season.

Oettinger has won 8 straight starts after a 3-2 winner Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres. He had a light 19-save performance. He has beaten the Jets twice this season, stopping 25 of 26 Feb. 29 and all 27 in a 2-0 shutout Nov. 28.

Jets at Stars picks and predictions

Prediction

Stars 3, Jets 2

Moneyline

As hard as it is to sweep 4 games from an NHL team, the ducks are in a row for Dallas to prevail unless they opt to sit Oettinger. They have beaten the Jets 4-1, 2-0 and 3-2 and have won 7 of the last 9 against them.

When Oettinger is confirmed in net, take the STARS -150. If they opt to sit him, though, abort.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Jets are far too expensive for the insurance, so let’s check out a prop.

Connor has been invisible against Dallas this season. In 3 games, he has 0 goals and 1 assist with just 5 shots on goal. He knows this, and he has 4+ shots on goal in 2 of his last 3 games. KYLE CONNOR OVER 2.5 SHOTS (-140) looks very tasty.

Over/Under

Unless one of these starters sits, we’re going Under. The 3 games they’ve played against one another yielded 5, 2 and 5 goals. I’m honestly surprised it’s not 5.5.

Take advantage with UNDER 6 (-120).

Vegas Golden Knights at Winnipeg Jets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Winnipeg Jets odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Vegas Golden Knights (39-25-8) make the 3rd stop on a 4-game road trip Thursday against the Winnipeg Jets (44-22-6) at Canada Life Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Golden Knights vs. Jets odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: Golden Knights lead 2-0

The Golden Knights have picked up at least 1 point in 4 straight games, going 3-0-1 in the span. They’re coming off a 5-4 OT loss in Nashville to kick off the trip. Both games on the road trip have gone to overtime, and 3 of the past 4 road contests have needed the extra session.

The Jets are coming off a 4-3 OT loss to the Edmonton Oilers Tuesday with the Over (6) hitting at Canada Life Centre. Winnipeg erased a 2-goal 3rd-period deficit to force overtime but failed to cash as a +119 underdog.

Vegas has won both meetings as the favorite against Winnipeg this season while also covering the puck line. The Over has cashed in each outing, too, and VGK has won 6 in a row in the series.

Golden Knights at Jets projected goalies

Logan Thompson (20-12-5, 2.72 GAA, .907 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Connor Hellebuyck (32-17-4, 2.42 GAA, .920 SV%, 4 SO)

Thompson allowed a goal on 32 shots in a 2-1 OT win against the Blues to kick off the road trip Monday. He is 3-1-0 with a 2.57 GAA and .908 SV% in 4 starts and a relief appearance in March. He allowed 2 goals on 31 shots in a 5-2 win at home against the Jets Nov. 2, and he allowed 3 goals on 39 shots in a 5-3 win in Winnipeg Oct. 19.

Hellebuyck is expected to be the starting tendy. He coughed up 4 goals on 42 shots last time out, and he is winless in his past 3 starts, going 0-2-1 with 12 goals allowed on 87 shots. Hellebuyck conceded 4 goals on 25 shots in the 5-2 loss at Vegas Nov. 2, his only appearance against the defending champs this season.

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (+105) are a solid play as short ‘dogs as the road trip continues. Vegas has won 6 in a row, and 9 of the past 10 meetings, in this series, so there is no sense backing the Jets (-125).

Winnipeg is also skidding, going 0-3-1 in the past 4 games, with Hellebuyck leaking oil in the previous 3 outings, including 1 start where he was pulled. The Jets just can’t be trusted right now.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Golden Knights +1.5 (-250) will cost you more than 2 times your potential return. That’s too much risk for not enough reward if you’re looking for some insurance and just don’t want to play the underdogs straight up.

AVOID, and just play Vegas straight up if you like it.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-120) is a solid play. The Jets have allowed 17 goals in the past 4 games, surprisingly only cashing the Over in 2 of those games. That’s because the offense has had some issues lately, going for just 1.8 GPG in that 4-game span.

The Golden Knights cashed the Over last time out in Nashville, and the Over is 7-2 in the past 9 games on the road. The Over has cashed in each meeting against the Jets this season, too.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Edmonton Oilers (42-23-4) and Winnipeg Jets (44-22-5) meet Tuesday. The opening faceoff at Canada Life Centre is slated for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Oilers vs. Jets odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Edmonton is closing out a 3-game road swing. This past weekend, the Oilers were outscored 11-6 by the Toronto Maple Leafs (Saturday) and Ottawa Senators (Sunday).

The Jets are back at home after a 2-3-0 road trip. Winnipeg has been busy: those 5 games came across an 8-day span.

Oilers at Jets projected goalies

Stuart Skinner (31-14-4, 2.65 GAA, .905 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Connor Hellebuyck (32-17-3, 2.39 GAA, .920 SV%, 4 SO)

Skinner has been red hot over the last several weeks but is coming off a disastrous Saturday start against the Maple Leafs. The Edmonton netminder was pulled after 40 minutes and 5 Toronto scores. From Feb. 26-March 16, Skinner registered a tidy .941 SV%.

Hellebuyck started the Jets’ Sunday game at Washington and allowed 3 goals on 19 shots. The 30-year-old is having another Vezina-contender season, but he owns an .822 SV% over his last 2 efforts.

Oilers at Jets picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 3, Jets 2

Moneyline

Edmonton (-125) has lost back-to-back games on same-swing road trips 5 times this season. The club is 4-1 with a couple blowouts in its next-time-out efforts. Most recently, the Oilers had dropped March 9-10 at the Buffalo Sabres and Columbus Blue Jackets. They bounced back with a 4-0 rout at Pittsburgh March 12.

Winnipeg special teams have faltered of late. The Jets are 1-for-their-last-11 on the power play; Toronto and Ottawa combined to go 4 of 7 against them over the weekend.

Expected-goal differentials vs. actual point to regression is due on both sides: regression boosting the Oilers and working against the Jets. And Winnipeg’s recent slate figures to be working against the Jets’ freshness in this one. The Jets have also scuffled a bit, relatively speaking, when playing on 1 day of rest; they have gone 22-15-4.

The Oilers won 3-1 in this building back on Nov. 30 and are 2-1-0 across their last 3 visits to Manitoba.

BACK EDMONTON (-125).

Puck line/Against the spread

More juice equals less room to operate. PASS.

Over/Under

The Under cashed in both previous meetings and is the strongest value in this contest.

Both sides have been a bit loose of late. Figure this one having some well-timed playoff energy to it. And at the other end, the Jets generated just 27 shots per game on their 5-game road trip.

Five of the last 7 games in this series have hit the Under. Some of the air is out of this play after a line move: consider a partial-unit play on the UNDER 6 (-110) and full-fledged action if the total returns to its initial 6.5.

Winnipeg Jets at Carolina Hurricanes odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Winnipeg Jets at Carolina Hurricanes odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Winnipeg Jets (37-16-5) and Carolina Hurricanes (36-18-6) meet Saturday at PNC Arena in Raleigh, N.C. Puck drop is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+/Hulu). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Jets vs. Hurricanes odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Jets suffered a 4-1 loss in Dallas against the Stars Thursday to kick off a 3-game road trip. It was just the 2nd loss in the past 9 games, as Winnipeg is still 7-2-0 during the span dating back to Feb. 10. The Under (5.5) cashed against the Stars, snapping a 4-1-1 run to the Over in the previous 6 contests.

The Hurricanes doubled up the Blue Jackets in Columbus Thursday as the Under (6.5) connected. Carolina has won back-to-back games, both on the road, while the Under is on a 5-0 run, and the total has gone low at a 12-2-1 pace in the previous 15 contests. The Canes have won 4 of the past 5 outings at home, too, while the Under is 3-1 in the previous 4 at PNC Arena.

  • Over/Under (O/U): 5.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Jets at Hurricanes projected goalies

Connor Hellebuyck (28-12-3, 2.23 GAA, .924 SV%, 3 SO) vs. Pyotr Kochetkov (16-10-3, 2.35 GAA, .911 SV%, 3 SO)

Hellebuyck allowed 3 goals on 35 shots in a 4-1 loss in Dallas Thursday. He has still allowed 3 or fewer goals in 34 of his previous 35 starts, with the lone exception a 28-save effort in a 6-3 loss in Calgary. He allowed 5 goals in that setback.

Kochetkov is projected to get the starting nod. He allowed 2 goals on 30 shots in a 3-2 win at Minnesota Tuesday. He was named the NHL Rookie of the Month for February, posting a 5-3-0 record, 1.71 GAA, .940 SV% and 2 SO in 8 games in the month. He also won the award in December 2022.

Jets at Hurricanes picks and predictions

Prediction

Hurricanes 3, Jets 2

Moneyline

HURRICANES (-145) is worth a look in this matinee game at Carolina. The Jets (+120) struggled in the road trip opener in Dallas, and they’ll be playing this game at 11:30 a.m. CT, which is their local time zone.

The Canes have been hot, winning 6 of the past 8 games, going 6-1-1 in the span. Carolina has used a combination of timely offense, strong defense and good goaltending to get the job done lately.

The Jets have won 4 of the past 5 games, so this one won’t be easy. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the game need overtime or a shootout, either.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Jets +1.5 (-225) will cost over 2 times your potential return, and that’s too much risk if you’re a little on the conservative side. If you like Winnipeg, just play it straight up.

However, Carolina has won each of the previous 3 meetings in Raleigh, and it has won each of those outings by 2 or more goals, with an average winning margin of 2.3 GPG.

AVOID.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (-115) is the lean in this East-West matinee battle.

First, it’s an early puck drop for both sides on a weekend day. The legs might be a little slow to get going. Second, we have a pair of red-hot goaltenders, as Hellebuyck has allowed 3 or fewer goals in 34 of his past 35 games, while Kochetkov is the defending NHL Rookie of the Month. Goals should be at a premium.

Winnipeg Jets at Detroit Red Wings odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Winnipeg Jets at Detroit Red Wings odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Winnipeg Jets (3-3-0) take on the Detroit Red Wings (5-1-1) Thursday at Little Caesars Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+/Hulu). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Jets vs. Red Wings odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Jets are coming off a 4-2 win over the St. Louis Blues Tuesday night. LW Kyle Connor scored his 4th goal of the season, and the Jets held St. Louis to just 20 shots on goal. Before that, they took down the Edmonton Oilers, 3-2, in overtime.

The Red Wings snapped a 5-game winning streak with a 5-4 loss in overtime to the Seattle Kraken Tuesday. They have points in 6 straight. RW Alex DeBrincat leads the NHL with 9 goals, and C Dylan Larkin is 2nd in the NHL with 14 points.

Jets at Red Wings projected goalies

Connor Hellebuyck (3-2-0, 3.39 GAA, .881 SV%) vs. Ville Husso (3-1-1, 3.38 GAA, .893 SV%)

Hellebuyck has gotten off to a rough start, but he has only allowed 2 goals in each of his last 2 starts. He only stopped 18 of 20 shots against St. Louis, but he stopped RW Jordan Kyrou on a breakaway twice in the game. Hellebuyck faced Detroit twice last season, and one of them was an ugly 6-goal performance where he stopped just 16 of 22. He won the other game after stopping 23 of 25.

Husso has been a little erratic to open the season as well. He has allowed at least 2 goals in each of his 5 starts. He was touched up for 5 goals on 38 shots in the 5-4 overtime loss to the Kraken Tuesday night. Husso faced Winnipeg once last season, winning 7-5, and stopping 32 of 37 shots he faced.

Jets at Red Wings picks and predictions

Prediction

Red Wings 4, Jets 3

Moneyline

This should be a fast-paced one with both goalies having some issues thus far. Detroit is really rolling, and unless Husso just can’t hang, they should have enough firepower to get it done. The Wings have won 3 of the last 5 meetings, they’re at home and on a heater offensively. There’s a chance the Wings go with backup James Reimer, who has a 1.00 GAA through 2 starts. Detroit has gone from -105 to +105 Thursday morning. DeBrincat has become questionable due to an illness, which is likely the reason, but I still like the Wings.

Take the RED WINGS +105.

Puck line/Against the spread

I don’t like either side of the PL here.

One prop bet stands out, though. Larkin has goals in 3 straight games. If DeBrincat is out or limited, he’ll have to continue the offensive pressure.

Take DYLAN LARKIN ANYTIME GOAL +165.

Over/Under

Detroit has scored at least 4 goals in 6 straight games and at least 3 in all 7. The last 2 meetings between the teams have gone Over. Both goalies have been leaky.

I LEAN OVER 6.5 (-105).
