Look: NBA 2K23 ratings for every Oregon Duck in the NBA and WNBA

The Oregon Ducks have multiple players in the NBA and WNBA represented in NBA 2K23, which launched on Friday. Here is how they are rated.

The ever popular NBA 2K video game series came out with the latest version, NBA 2K23, on Friday.

As with the Madden series on the NFL side, the release of a new video game makes the rounds on social media every single year as fans, media members, and even players themselves discuss their overall ratings and the ratings of each team.

For Oregon fans, it’s a great chance to see how former players are assessed as NBA talent, with about six weeks until the actual NBA season is set to begin.

This year’s game also features WNBA talent as well, giving fans a chance to play with Sabrina Ionescu, Satou Sabally, and Ruthy Hebard as well as Oregon’s many NBA players.

Here is a look at how each Oregon alumni in the NBA and WNBA is rated on NBA 2K launch day. These ratings get updated as the season goes on, so strong (or weak) performances will see the ratings updated accordingly.

Shaq on his advice for his son as his pro career begins: ‘Your path will never be like my path’

Shaq also discusses NBA2K23, traveling to Australia, and more.

Shaquille O’Neal has returned to the broadcasting booth for NBA 2K23, which is now available for download worldwide.

O’Neal once again appears in the video game alongside fellow Inside The NBA hosts Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith for a simulated version of the halftime show. He appears on several all-time and classic rosters that are available for play as well.

To promote the game, the four-time NBA champion partnered with Papa John’s and Mountain Dew for the MTN DEW NBA ® 2K23 Player’s Pack Bundle. This promotion gives fans an opportunity to unlock up to a million dollars worth of in-game swag.

The fifteen-time All-Star caught up with For The Win to discuss the promo. He also reflected on his experience as a producer on the Oscar-winning short documentary The Queen of Basketball, what it was like to watch his son play for the Lakers in summer league, and more.

Ahead of Friday release, Boston Celtics see several players with changed NBA 2K ratings

Ahead of the release of the next iteration of the NBA 2K series, the Boston Celtics have seen a number of individual player ratings change; are they accurate?

While the game — and its official player ratings at the start of the 2022-23 NBA season — does not drop until Friday, September 9, the creators of NBA 2K23 have leaked a number of team and player ratings including the Boston Celtics ahead of the game’s release at the end of the week.

And since it is becoming a September tradition to gripe about 2K ratings adjustments, we thought we’d share with you the ratings that have changed since the start of the summer to kick off your own Salty September. festivities, as we are dubbing it (feel free to give us better suggestions).

Let’s take a look at which player’s ratings have changed, and in which direction.

Chet Holmgren’s NBA 2K23 rating revealed

NBA 2K announced the overall rating for Chet Holmgren and other top rookies.

NBA 2K23 announced the overall ratings for the top-five picks in the 2022 NBA draft on Tuesday.

For Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Chet Holmgren, the No. 2 pick came in at 77 overall — the third-best rating behind Paolo Banchero and Jabari Smith Jr. at 78 overall each.

Now, of course, Holmgren will not play this season as he recovers from a season-ending foot injury. As a result, it’ll be hard to see Holmgren improve his rating this season. The most likely outcome is he stays at 77 for the entire lifespan of the game.

Even with that being the case, it’s still surprising to see Holmgren and the other top rookies rated so low. The good news for the other rookies is they’ll have the entire season to improve their rating.

The game is set to release on Friday, Sept. 10.

Klay Thompson savagely roasted NBA 2K23 for being ‘doo doo’ because he hates his 3-point rating

Klay Thompson is tied with 3 other players as the 2nd best shooter on NBA 2K23 and he’s not happy about it

Well, count Klay Thompson as one of the many haters out there of NBA 2K23. Thompson has a beef with the video game.

Over the last few days, NBA 2K has been releasing player ratings as they gear up for the release of the game on September 9. And, of course, every player is never happy with their rating.

Some are nitpicky like Kevin Durant, who doesn’t appreciate the fact that he’s rated as a 96 (which is extremely high) and not a 99 (which is perfect).

But then there are some who feel totally and completely disrespected. Thompson falls in that bag.

The game dropped a screenshot of its best 3-point shooters along with their ratings. Thompson’s teammate, Steph Curry, was 99 and well above the rest of the pack.

But Thompson? He was along with Demond Bane, Kevin Durant and Luke Kennard with an 88 rating. And, as one of the greatest shooters of all time, he didn’t like it. So he posted about it.

This is what he had to say.

He called NBA 2K “doo doo” and he also pulled out the “put some respect on my name” card while calling them bums. It’s honestly classic Klay Thompson.

It’s hard to blame Thompson — he is one of the best shooters ever. But at the same time, Kevin Durant and Desmond Bane have clips, too. And Luke Kennard led the NBA in 3-point percentage last year. These ratings feel reasonable.

But Klay is Klay and he’s going to feel how he feels. Honestly, if he drops more poop emojis from this? We should be here for it.

Nets’ Kevin Durant calls for explanation of NBA2K23 rating of 96

With the new NBA 2K23 game releasing soon, Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant calls for an explanation of his rating.

Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant decided to rescind his trade reiteration just a few weeks ago as he gets set to begin another year with the Nets. With the new NBA2K game coming out, Durant calls for an explanation of his rating.

Throughout this week, teams and player ratings for the NBA2K23 game have been leaked or released and the two-time Finals MVP’s rating doesn’t satisfy him.

Durant received a 96 overall rating, making him the best player on Brooklyn’s roster. The slender forward has high rankings in most offensive categories, with an 88 three-point rating.

Durant responded to his rating with a tweet, asking for reasoning that he doesn’t rank higher. He tagged the creator of the game series Ronnie2K asking, “Aye @Ronnie2K, I’m gonna need an explanation on why I’m not a 99? This has become laughable.”

The Nets have one of the best team ratings on the new NBA 2K23, listed as a top-tier team. Durant is for sure one of the highest-rated stars, but he feels as if his mid-90s rating undercuts his actual ability.

Kevin Durant demands to know why he’s not a 99 rating in NBA 2K23: ‘This has become laughable’

KD wasn’t happy.

I’m writing this post knowing full well that Kevin Durant, a frequent pot-stirrer on Twitter, is stirring the pot.

But hey, maybe not! Maybe the Brooklyn Nets star really, truly believes he should be rated a 99 overall on NBA 2K23 as player ratings are dropping o Tuesday.

Yet he’s a 96, tied for second-best with a bunch of names and just behind Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 97.

KD is fantastic, an all-time great, a first-ballot no-doubt Hall of Famer who may go down among the game’s greatest scorers.

But a 99? Now? I’m sorry, not buying it. And as he made his demands public, there was a lot of reaction:

New NBA2K leaks place Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum in tie for 5th-highest in game

While one might quibble about where Tatum is with regards to some of his peers in the league, it seems that the folks behind the popular game have gotten the Celtics star’s assessment correct for the most part.

Boston Celtics star forward Jayson Tatum finds himself among the top 11 players (due to ties) in the NBA in the recently-leaked ratings of the league’s top players in the latest ratings update from NBA2K. The St. Louis native finds himself with a new ranking of 93 — up from 90 — for this latest round of updates, good enough for a tie for the fifth-best rating in the latest iteration of the popular NBA basketball simulation game.

Tatum was behind first-place the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo (97 overall), a five-way tie for second at 96 overall for the Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic, Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid, Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, Brooklyn Nets’ Kevin Durant, and Los Angeles Lakers’ Lebron James. He was also ranked behind the Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic alone with a 95 rating, and Los Angeles Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard with a 94.

The Duke product is tied at 93 with the Memphis Grizzlies’ Ja Morant and Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler.

While one might quibble about where Tatum is with regards to some of his peers in the league, it seems that the folks behind the popular game have gotten the Celtics star’s assessment correct for the most part this far into his career.

NBA 2K23 players are shocked they can now get technical fouls for hanging on the rim too long

You can be T’d up for hanging on the rim … just like in real life!

I’m asking honestly: Does every sports video game have to be 10000% real with every aspect of the real thing?

I ask because NBA 2K23 has introduced hanging on the rim controls.

No, seriously! You can hang on the rim after a dunk! From their official site: “The controls are simple. Use one of the new rim-hang dunk gestures mentioned above when driving toward the hoop, but keep the Sprint trigger held when the player gets their hands on the rim. You’ll hang indefinitely as long as you keep the trigger held, and you can use the Left Stick to adjust the momentum of your swinging body and the Right Stick to pull yourself up on the rim.”

Cool, right? Except if you hang too long in certain situations, you get a technical foul, just like in real life.

Players had thoughts:

One of those players is superstar Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, who has been bumped up to a 93 overall rating by the gaming organization per a recent tweet.
