UFC on ESPN 49 video: Nazim Sadykhov rallies to submit Terrance McKinney

Nazim Sadykhov had his game stifled by Terrance McKinney for the first round at UFC on ESPN 49. But then he turned the tables.

[autotag]Nazim Sadykhov[/autotag] had his game stifled by [autotag]Terrance McKinney[/autotag] for the first round at UFC on ESPN 49. In the second, however, he turned the tables.

After giving up a takedown to McKinney (13-6 MMA, 3-3 UFC) in the opening frame of the lightweight main card opener at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and having his back controlled for much of the frame, Sadykhov (9-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) wouldn’t allow the same to happen in the second.

Sadykhov trapped McKinney’s arm behind his back, locked in a rear-naked choke, and forced a quick tap.

Check out the replay of the finish below (via Twitter):

With nine consecutive wins on his resume, Sadykhov was thrilled to get his hand raised again and keep his climb up the 155-pound pecking order.

“It feels great. Obviously, I respect Terrance McKinney and I had no beef. … I didn’t like how he got the body lock and controlled the first round, but we got it done in the second.”

Terrance McKinney announces next UFC bout in cowboy-themed video

Yeehaw, popular UFC lightweight Terrance McKinney laced up his boots and threw on a hat for this theatrical fight announcement.

[autotag]Terrance McKinney[/autotag] is back – and apparently [autotag]Nazim Sadykhov[/autotag] is on his “Wanted” poster.

On Monday, McKinney (13-5 MMA, 3-2 UFC) announced his next bout will be July 15 vs. Sadykhov (8-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) as part of a UFC Fight Night card slated for the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The announcement came in an unorthodox video in which McKinney was dressed as a cowboy and fired dinosaur-shaped toy guns while he maneuvered throughout cow statues.

Sadykhov confirmed the booking on Twitter shortly thereafter. An additional person with knowledge of the matchup confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

“I’m a Black man and I’m looking for a ‘Black Wolf,'” McKinney said in a reference to Sadykhov’s nickname.

Jokes aside, McKinney seeks to get back in the win column after a brutal flying knee knockout loss to Ismael Bonfim at UFC 283 in January. It was the second time in three fights he was finished with strikes. In his five UFC fights to date, McKinney has not yet gone the distance.

Longo and Weidman MMA’s Sadykhov has shown to be an explosive striker during his time in the international spotlight. Following a brutal knockout win to earn a UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series, Sadykhov finished Evan Elder via doctor stoppage due to a cut.

With the addition, the UFC Fight Night lineup for July 15 includes:

  • Holly Holm vs. Mayra Bueno Silva
  • Walt Harris vs. Josh Parisian
  • Ashlee Evans-Smith vs. Ailin Perez
  • Azat Maksum vs. Tyson Nam
  • Jafel Filho vs. Juancamilo Ronderos
  • Chelsea Chandler vs. Norma Dumont
  • Carl Deaton III vs. Alexander Munoz
  • Ottman Azaitar vs. Francisco Prado
  • Evan Elder vs. Genaro Valdez
  • Viktoriya Dudakova vs. Istela Nunes
  • Albert Duraev vs. Jun Yong Park
  • Terrance McKinney vs. Nazim Sadykhov

DWCS standout Nazim Sadykhov set to make UFC debut vs. Evan Elder

Dana White’s Contender Series standout Nazim Sadykhov will make his UFC debut vs. Evan Elder, MMA Junkie has learned.

[autotag]Nazim Sadykhov[/autotag] made quite the first impression on UFC president Dana White – and now he has the chance to follow that up.

At a UFC Fight Night event scheduled for Feb. 18, Sadykhov (7-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will make his promotional debut against [autotag]Evan Elder[/autotag] (7-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC). The card does not have a publicly known location or venue at this time.

Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

Sadykhov, 28, is a rising lightweight prospect out Longo and Weidman MMA in Garden City, N.Y., who earned an opportunity on Dana White’s Contender Series in August following five finishes in six regional wins. He showed his finishing prowess in his UFC tryout, when he brutally knocked out Ahmad Suhail Hassanzada and earned a promotional deal.

Elder, 25, made his UFC debut in April when he lost a unanimous decision to Preston Parsons. The loss was his first as a professional following a dominant run on the Missouri regional scene, which mostly took place under the Shamrock FC banner.

With the addition, the UFC Fight Night lineup for Feb. 18 includes:

  • Billy Goff vs. Themba Gorimbo
  • Evan Elder vs. Nazim Sadykhov

Nazim Sadykhov ready to ’cause a sh*tstorm’ after DWCS 50 win – preferably starting at UFC 281

Now that Longo-Weidman MMA standout Nazim Sadykhov has a UFC contract, he wants to compete alongside teammate Matt Frevola at MSG.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Nazim Sadykhov[/autotag] wants to compete on the same UFC 281 card as Longo-Weidman MMA teammate Matt Frevola.

Sadykhov (7-1) earned a UFC contract Tuesday when he took out Ahmad Hassanzada in the third round at Dana White’s Contender Series 50.

“That’s Matt Frevola back there. He’s on MSG. Throw me in MSG with him over there,” Sadykhov told reporters, including MMA Junkie, after his win. “November, let’s get it.”

He continued, “I’m not gonna do these callouts yet, but trust me, I’m gonna cause a sh*t storm.”

[lawrence-related id=2572532]

Sadykhov, who’s finished all but one of his professional fights, wasn’t entirely happy with his performance but knows he did what’s necessary to impress the UFC brass.

“I feel like I let some mistakes happen, but overall, I got what I wanted,” Sadykhov said. “I got my finish. That’s what they want on Contender’s, that’s what they want in the UFC, that’s what I want. So, yes, there’s things I can say I can improve on or work on or not make those mistakes, but I got my finish.”
