The final fight of a loaded week proved to be the most memorable, because [autotag]Patchy Mix[/autotag] (18-1 MMA, 7-1 BMMA) scored one of the greatest knockout highlights in company history when he flattened [autotag]Raufeon Stots[/autotag] (19-2 MMA, 7-1 BMMA) with a picture-perfect knee to the jaw knockout just 80 seconds into their main event. The nasty finish not only won him the interim bantamweight title, but he is the last man standing in the bantamweight grand prix, winning $1 million after completing the eight-man field.

UFC parts ways with Luke Sanders, four other fighters

Five fighters are no longer on the UFC roster.

[autotag]Luke Sanders[/autotag] and four others are the latest fighters to part ways with the UFC.

Multiple people with knowledge of the situation recently confirmed to MMA Junkie the roster moves after TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter and Sherdog’s Tom Feely noted that the fighters were missing from the promotion’s online fan-ranking eligibility. The people who confirmed the roster moves asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

Dana White’s Contender Series graduates Uros Medic and Aalon Cruz are set to square off at UFC 259.

A pair of Dana White’s Contender Series graduates are set to square off on March 6.

[autotag]Uros Medic[/autotag] (6-0) will face [autotag]Aalon Cruz[/autotag] (8-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at an event that does not yet have a publicly announced location or venue, but is expected to be UFC 259.

A person with knowledge of the matchup confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie following an initial report from MMA DNA.

Serbia-born Medic is undefeated in his pro MMA career with all his wins coming by finish. He earned a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series 27 in August with a first-round finish of Mikey Gonzalez.

Cruz, who also punched his ticket to the UFC through the Contender Series, saw his four-fight winning streak snapped at the hands of Spike Carlyle in his promotional debut at UFC on ESPN+ 27 in February.

With the addition, the latest UFC 259 lineup includes:

  • Aleksandar Rakic vs. Thiago Santos
  • Randy Costa vs. Trevin Jones

UFC on ESPN+ 27 medical suspensions: Joseph Benavidez facing lengthy sit after loss

Joseph Benavidez is among seven fighters facing medical suspensions after UFC on ESPN+ 27.

Tuesday, MMA Junkie acquired a list of medical suspensions from the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation, the commissioning body that oversaw the event.

In his third UFC title fight, Benavidez (28-6 MMA, 15-4 UFC) was once again unsuccessful. In Round 2, Benavidez was bloodied by a clash of heads and knocked out moments later by Deiveson Figueiredo.

As a result of injuries sustained, Benavidez was suspended 90 days by regulatory body. Public documents show a suture as a reason for suspension.

All the notable stats and figures to come out of UFC on ESPN+ 27, which saw Deiveson Figueiredo beat Joseph Benavidez in the main event.

The UFC returned to Virginia for the fifth time in company history on Saturday with UFC on ESPN+ 27, which went down at Chartway Arena in Norfolk and streamed on ESPN+.

A new flyweight champion should’ve been crowned in the main event.
