The Miami Marlins (44-75) visit the Philadelphia Phillies (69-49) Tuesday. First pitch from Citizens Bank Park is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Phillies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Phillies lead 4-3

The Marlins snapped a 3-game losing streak with a 7-6 win over the San Diego Padres Sunday as +177 home underdogs. 3B Jake Burger and RF Jesus Sanchez each had 2 RBIs, while SP Max Meyer allowed 4 ER in 6 1/3 innings to pick up the win.

The Phillies have lost 3 games in a row after falling 12-5 against the Arizona Diamondbacks Sunday and failing to cash as -125 road favorites. 3B Alex Bohm led the way on offense with 2 RBIs, and LHP Cristopher Sanchez allowed 7 ER in 4 2/3 innings to pick up the loss.

Marlins at Phillies projected starters

RHP Valente Bellozo vs. RHP Taijuan Walker

Bellozo (1-1, 3.05 ERA) makes his 5th start. He has a 1.02 WHIP, 2.2 BB/9 and 8.3 K/9 through 20 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 5 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 4 K in 6-4 home victory against Cincinnati Reds Wednesday
  • Never faced Phillies before

Walker (3-3, 5.60 ERA) makes his 11th start. He has a 1.49 WHIP, 3.6 BB/9 and 7.3 K/9 through 53 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 4 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, 3 K in 5-4 loss against Diamondbacks June 21
  • Career vs. Marlins: 6-2, 3.26 ERA (77 1/3 IP, 28 ER), 72 H, 21 BB, 76 K in 12 starts — last outing in May

Marlins at Phillies picks and predictions

Prediction

Phillies 4, Marlins 3

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no value on the Phillies’ moneyline Tuesday.

Run line/Against the spread

BET MARLINS -1.5 (-140).

The Phillies have what it takes to win Tuesday in their 1st game back home in 10 games, but with Walker returning to make his 1st start since June and Bellozo coming off a scoreless 6 innings, the Marlins will keep it close. Miami has scored 7 or more runs in back-to-back games, while Philadelphia has scored 2 or fewer in 2 of its last 3.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 9 (-115).

While the Marlins have scored 7 or more runs in back-to-back games, they had scored 4 or fewer in 6 of the previous 8. Philadelphia has scored 2 or fewer runs in 2 of its last 3 games while allowing 4 or fewer in 5 of its last 8. Expect a pitchers’ duel that will lead to the Under hitting Tuesday.

Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Miami Marlins (29-52) and Philadelphia Phillies (53-28) play the 2nd game of a 4-game series Friday. First pitch from Citizens Bank Park is slated for 6:20 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Phillies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 2-2

The Marlins won the series opener 7-4 Thursday as 3B Jake Burger broke a 4-4 tie in the 8th inning with a solo home run. LF Bryan De La Cruz also had a bases clearing double and scored on 1B Josh Bell‘s double. LHP Tanner Scott pitched a perfect 9th inning to earn his 11th save.

The 7-4 loss to the Miami Marlins was the least of Philadelphia’s concerns because 1B Bryce Harper limped off the field after making the final out and LF Kyle Schwarber left the game earlier in the 9th inning with left groin tightness. DH Trea Turner went 2-for-4 with 3 runs scored and C Rafael Marchen had a solo HR. Despite the loss, the Phillies are 31-13 at home.

Marlins at Phillies projected starters

RHP Kyle Tyler vs. LHP Cristopher Sanchez

Tyler (0-0, 4.50 ERA) makes his 3rd appearance and 2nd start. He has a 1.17 WHIP, 4.5 BB/9 and 4.5 K/9 in 6 IP.

  • Only start: No-decision, 4 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 2 K in 6-4 win against the Seattle Mariners Sunday
  • Called up from Triple-A Jacksonville on June 22
  • Has pitched in 9 career MLB games in 3 seasons

Sanchez (5-3, 2.67 ERA) makes his 16th start. He has a 1.28 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 7.5 K/9 in 84 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 7 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 4 K in 4-1 victory against the Arizona Diamondbacks Sunday
  • Only start vs Marlins: No-decision, 5 IP, 0 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 4 K in 3-2 home loss on Sept 8, 2023

Marlins at Phillies picks and predictions

Prediction

Phillies 6, Marlins 2

Moneyline.

PASS.

The Phillies (-245) will bounce back in a big way on Friday night but I’m not going to pay almost 2 1/2 units. I’ll put my money down on the run line.

Run line/Against the spread

BET PHILLIES -1.5 (-118).

If you want an easy winner, whenever you see the Marlins face a lefty, put your money down on their opponent. Miami is 4-24 against southpaws and have an under .600 OPS for the season. They are also 6-17 against their NL East division rivals. Six of their last 7 losses have been by 2 or more runs. In fact, 5 of their last 7 losses have been by more than 3 runs which brings the alternative run line of Philadelphia -2.5 (+138) into play.

Over/Under

PASS.

I don’t love the trends toward this bet. I’m going to stay away because they are 5-4-1 against the Over in their last 10 meetings.

Also, in the last 10 games Miami is 5-5 against the Over and the Phillies are 4-6.

Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Miami Marlins (28-52) take on the Philadelphia Phillies (53-27) Thursday in the opener of a 4-game set at Citizens Bank Park at 7:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Phillies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Phillies lead 2-1

The Fish dropped 2 of 3 to the Kansas City Royals this week, and they scored just 4 runs in the 3-game set. The Marlins are 29th in baseball with just 3.5 runs per game and 26th with a 4.58 ERA as the wheels continue to fall off.

The Phillies have won 4 of 5 games after going 2-1 against the Detroit Tigers this week. The loss was against emerging stud RHP Tarik Skubal, who led the way to a 4-1 victory. Other than that, the Phils scored 6, 8, 4 and 12 runs  during the stretch. 1B Bryce Harper is hitting .500 (13-for-26) with 3 HR and 9 RBIs over the last 7 days.

Marlins at Phillies projected starters

LHP Trevor Rogers vs. RHP Zack Wheeler

Rogers (1-8, 4.90 ERA) makes his 16th start. He has a 1.55 WHIP, 3.8 BB/9 and 7.2 K/9 in 75 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 6 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 5 K Friday against Seattle Mariners
  • Last 5 starts vs. Phillies: 0-4, 9.58 ERA, 2.03 WHIP, 20 K in 20 2/3 IP

Wheeler (9-4, 2.73 ERA) makes his 17th start. He has a 0.96 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 9.7 K/9 in 99 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 7 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 0 BB, 8 K Saturday against Arizona Diamondbacks
  • Last 5 starts vs. Miami: 1-0, 4.18 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 27 K in 28 IP

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Marlins at Phillies picks and predictions

Prediction

Phillies 6, Marlins 1

Moneyline

The Phillies are rightfully massive favorites in this one, and there’s no chance we can risk 3:1 for them to win.

Instead, let’s go with BRYCE HARPER OVER 1.5 H+R+RBI (-130).

Worried about him facing a lefty? He’s hitting .312 against them as opposed to .301 against righties. He’s also a .338 hitter at home vs. .264 on the road.

Run line/Against the spread

No thanks to the 3-run requirement to cash a Phils RL Thursday. Instead I’m going with ZACK WHEELER UNDER 7.5 K’s (-165).

Yes, the Marlins swing at everything, but 8 K’s is a lot for him. He has done it just twice in his last 8 GS, and he has fewer than 8 K’s in his last 4 GS against Miami.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

It’s expected to be 84 degrees with a 9-mph gust blowing in from left-center. Both teams are 4-6 O/U in their last 10. Wheeler has allowed more than 2 ER just once in his last 7 starts. I think this one stays UNDER 8 (-115).

NL Wild Card Series Game 2: Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies Game 2 odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Miami Marlins visit the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday hoping to extend their NL Wild Card Series. First pitch at Citizens Bank Park is slated for 8:08 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Phillies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Series: Phillies lead 1-0

The Marlins rallied from playing sub-.400 baseball in July and August for a 17-10 September finish and a spot in their 1st full-season playoffs since 2003. But Miami starter Jesus Luzardo faltered in Tuesday’s opener, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. Now the Fish need to win to avoid an early exit.

Philadelphia’s pitching was shaky down the stretch, and the club registered a 4.47 ERA over its last 30 games. But RHP Zach Wheeler and 3 relievers were sharp in allowing just 1 run Tuesday. And the Phillies offense created 4 runs despite going just 3 of 14 with runners in scoring position.

Marlins at Phillies projected starters

LHP Braxton Garrett vs. RHP Aaron Nola

Garrett went 9-7 with a 3.66 ERA in the regular season. He logged a 1.15 WHIP, 1.6 BB/9 and 8.8 K/9 in 159 2/3 innings over 30 starts and 1 relief appearance.

  • Last start: Loss, 4 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 2 K in 11-2 road loss vs. New York Mets last Wednesday
  • 2023 road stats: 6-3, 2.85 ERA in 79 IP across 15 starts; benefited from a .273 batting average on balls in play
  • Last 5 starts vs. Phillies: 2-1, 4.50 ERA in 24 IP
  • Has never pitched in the postseason

Nola went 12-9 with a 4.46 ERA this season. He registered a 1.15 WHIP, 2.1 BB/9 and 9.4 K/9 in 193 2/3 innings across 32 starts.

  • Last start: No-decision, 6 2/3 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 8 K in 3-2 home win vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Sept. 26; owns a 2.60 ERA, 1.04 across last 3 starts
  • 2023 home stats: 6-3, 3.29 ERA in 87 2/3 IP across 14 starts
  • Last 5 starts vs. Marlins: 1-2, 3.77 ERA in 31 IP
  • Owns a 4.92 ERA in 25 2/3 postseason innings

Marlins at Phillies picks and predictions

Prediction

Phillies 4, Marlins 3

Moneyline

The Marlins being over .500 with a scoring profile of 4.12 runs per game (RPG) while allowing 4.46 RPG makes them a fade lean for the series. The Fish went 33-13 in 1-run games to tilt the scales back the other way, but they are perhaps, at their base-talent level, an under-.500 club.

The Phils went 49-35 across June, July and August. If Miami sees the Philadelphia bunch as it played during that stretch, then the Phillies are a bargain at -180, let alone where this one is priced.

The Phils hit lefties and righties alike. Miami, however, sports a more dangerous lineup vs. port-siders (.755 OPS). They own a .711 OPS against right-handers.

The bullpens make for a green check in the Philadelphia column. Including Tuesday’s win, the Phils are 22-11 over their last 33 games at home.

This season, Garrett has clocked 16 IP against Philadelphia. Over those frames, he’s yielded 5 HRs and 12 ER. Nola’s surface numbers were dinged by opponents getting by with a .340 batting average on balls in play.

And then there is the extra-rest issue with which both hurlers are dealing. Over his career, when Garrett pitches on 6-plus days’ rest, he has experienced some control problems while allowing an .805 OPS. Nola’s case is the opposite: the veteran right-hander has held foes under a .600 OPS on such rest the last two years; for his career, he’s yielded just a .624 OPS on long rest,

BACK THE PHILLIES (-150).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

Consider a Phillies -1.5 play if the return gets to +145 or greater.

Over/Under

No signals pointing to value on either side of this total. PASS.

NL Wild Card Series Game 1: Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies Game 1 odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Miami Marlins visit the Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday to open their NL Wild Card Series. First pitch between the NL East foes at Citizens Park is slated for 8:08 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Phillies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Marlins won 7-6

Miami rallied after playing sub-.400 baseball in July and August to go 17-10 in September. That was good enough to earn the 2nd NL Wild Card and get the Marlins in their 1st full-season playoffs since 2003.

The Phillies won 90 regular-season games (90-72), finishing 2nd in the NL East and 5 1/2 games ahead of the 84-77 Marlins. However, September was a slowdown for a club that went 49-26 over a 75-game stretch from June 3-Aug. 29. After Aug. 29, Philadelphia played just .533 ball (.16-14). Pitching was the culprit, with the Phils logging a 4.47 ERA over those last 30 games.

Marlins at Phillies projected starters

LHP Jesus Luzardo vs. RHP Zack Wheeler

Luzardo went 10-9 with a 3.63 ERA in 32 regular-season starts. He  registered a 1.22 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9 and 10.5 K/9 in 178 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 7 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 10 K in 2-1 road win vs. New York Mets Thursday
  • 2023 road stats: 5-5, 4.48 ERA in 70 1/3 IP
  • Career vs. Phillies: 3-0, 3.26 ERA in 30 1/3 IP
  • Notched a 3.06 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 35 1/3 IP over his final 6 starts
  • Owns a 5.91 ERA in 10 2/3 postseason IP over 2 starts and 1 relief appearance (2019-20)

Wheeler made 32 starts in the regular season. He authored a 13-6 record with a 3.61 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 1.8 BB/9 and 9.9 K/9 in 192 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 4 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 5 K in 3-2 home loss vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Thursday
  • 2023 home stats: 5-2, 4.13 ERA in 89 1/3 IP
  • Career vs. Marlins: 10-2, 2.48 ERA in 141 1/3 IP
  • Is 1-3 with a 2.78 ERA across 35 2/3 IP across 6 starts in postseason play (2022)

Marlins at Phillies picks and predictions

Prediction

Phillies 4, Marlins 3

Moneyline

The Marlins being over .500 with a scoring profile of 4.12 runs per game (RPG) while allowing 4.46 RPG makes them a fade in a vacuum. The Fish went 33-13 in 1-run games to tilt the scales back the other way, but they are perhaps at their core an under-.500 club.

If Miami sees the Philadelphia bunch as it played in the summer, then the Phillies are a bargain at -180, let alone where this one is priced.

The Phils hit lefties and righties alike. Miami, however, sports a more dangerous lineup vs. port-siders (.755 OPS). They own a .711 OPS against right-handers.

For the bullpens, put a green check in the Philadelphia column.

The Phils are 4-1 across their last 5 series openers and are 21-11 over their last 32 games at home.

PHILLIES (-165) is the value side here.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

With respect for the low total and the Marlins’ penchant for playing tight ones. There is some value on a Phillies -1.5 (+130) wager for people who prefer the run line.

Over/Under

No O/U lean for the teams. The pitching here is solid, and the probability this one lands on 6, 7, of 8 runs is high. PASS.

Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Miami Marlins (73-69) and Philadelphia Phillies (78-63) wrap up their 3-game set at Citizens Bank Park Sunday. First pitch is slated for 1:05 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze Fanduel Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Phillies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: tied 5-5

The Marlins look to win their 3rd straight series on Sunday. Miami has won 7 of their last 9 games by outscoring their opponents 55-42. The Fish are 33-37 on the road this season.

The Phillies have struggled to get a win streak going, losing 5 of their last 9 games. The pitching has failed to keep them in ball games allowing more than 5 runs per game over this stretch. Philadelphia is 42-27 at home this season.

Marlins at Phillies projected starters

LHP Steven Okert vs. LHP Ranger Suarez

Okert (3-1, 3.44 ERA) makes his 2nd start and 57th appearance. He has a 1.15 WHIP, 3.6 BB/9 and 11.2 K/9 in 52 1/3 innings.

  • Last appearance: No-decision, 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 0 BB, 2 K in relief in 3-2 win at the Philadelphia Phillies Friday
  • 2023 road stats: 2-1, 3.00 ERA (27 IP, 9 ER), .198 OBA in 28 appearances

Suarez (2-6, 3.91 ERA) will make his 19th start. He has a 1.44 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9 and 8.3 K/9 in 101 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 4 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 5 K in 4-2 victory at the Milwaukee Brewers on September 3

Marlins at Phillies picks and predictions

Prediction

Marlins 5, Phillies 4

Moneyline

BET MARLINS (+160).

I think this game is closer than the odds would lead you to believe. The Marlins are playing more consistently than the Phillies and I believe they can win this game. I also love the +160 you are getting for a pretty even matchup on Sunday afternoon. Don’t bet the farm but go with a half unit.

Run line/Against the spread

AVOID.

I am not going to touch the run line. I don’t believe the Phillies cover and the -134 odds for the Marlins getting the 1 1/2 does not entice me either. I’ll just stick with the moneyline.

Over/Under

PASS.

My lean would be the under but I am not confident enough to take this bet. In their 10 meetings this season, these teams have gone Under this total in 7 of them.

Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Miami Marlins (73-68) will play the 2nd game of a 3-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies (77-63) on Saturday at Citizens Bank Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Phillies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Marlins lead 6-5

The Marlins edged out the Phillies 3-2 on Friday in the series opener. OF Jesus Sanchez delivered a 2-run homer as a pinch hitter in the 6th inning to tie the game and C Jacob Stallings smacked a solo shot in the 7th frame for the win. Miami has won 7 of its last 8 games and is 4 1/2 games behind Philadelphia for 2nd place in the NL East and is a half-game back of the Arizona Diamondbacks for the final NL Wild card.

Phillies SS Trea Turner continues to impress as he went yard for his 8th home run in his last 8 games. Philadelphia is 5-5 in its last 10 contests and currently holds the top Wild Card spot in the NL.

Marlins at Phillies projected starters

Marlins at Phillies picks and predictions

Prediction

Phillies 5, Marlins 4

Moneyline

While the Phillies are expected to secure the win at home on Saturday, I’ll PASS on their moneyline at nearly -200 odds. Look to the spread and/or total instead.

Run line/Against the spread

MARLINS +1.5 (-120) is the play in this divisional showdown as Cueto and Nola have both been shaky this season. The Marlins have either won or lost by a single run in 7 of their 11 meetings against the Phillies this season.

Over/Under

UNDER 9.5 (-120) is the lean in this contest as Nola has performed much better at home this season (3.17 ERA at home, 5.66 ERA on the road). The Under is also 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these clubs this season.

Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Miami Marlins (72-68) and Philadelphia Phillies (77-62) meet Friday  to kick off a pivotal 3-game set. First pitch at Citizens Bank Park is set for 7:05 p.m.E.T. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Phillies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 5-5

Miami is coming off a home series win, taking 2 out of 3 from the 1st-place Los Angeles Dodgers. The Marlins have won 6 of their last 7, including a 4-game sweep of the Washington Nationals. They’ll be coming into this series  with a 4-game road win streak.

Philadelphia is also coming off a strong showing, taking the rubber match (as a -118 favorite) and series win in a 3-game set over the San Diego Padres. The Phillies have won 6 of their last 10, and 4 of their last 5 games started by Cristopher Sanchez.

Marlins at Phillies projected starters

RHP Eury Perez vs. LHP Cristopher Sanchez

Perez (5-4, 2.86 ERA) makes his 17th start. He has a 1.08 WHIP, 2.86 BB/9 and 10.87 K/9 in 78.2 innings.

  • Coming off an up and down start against the Washington Nationals when he gave up 3 ER in 4.2 IP
  • Miami has won 2 of the last 5 games he’s started
  • First time facing Phillies in 2023

Sanchez (2-3, 3.48 ERA) makes his 15th start. He has a 1.04 WHIP, 1.44 BB/9 and 8.28 K/9 in 75 innings.

  • Coming off a shaky start vs. the Los Angeles Angels: ND after giving up 5 runs (3 earned) in 4.2 IP
  • Phillies have won 4 of his last 5 starts
  • First start vs. Marlins in 2023

Marlins at Phillies picks and predictions

Prediction

Phillies 5, Marlins 3

Moneyline

Both teams are fighting for NL Wild Card spots, and each is coming in with some momentum. It’s a big tossup as to which streaky offense will show up. Too many question marks on both sides.

STAY AWAY.

Run line/Against the spread

Again, too many mixed signals here to feel comfortable on either side of the fence. On paper, the Marlins surely have the pitching advantage, and are bringing in relatively hot bats, but the Phillies generally find a way to win, specifically behind starter Sanchez.

AVOID

Over/Under

Although both offenses have looked good, especially as of late, look for this to have potential to be an under-the-radar pitching matchup. With the playoffs right around the corner, each offense will have to do the little things to push runs across. Although the Marlins have hit the Over total in their last 6 games, and the Phillies have done the same in 20 of their last 29, I’m going with the underrated pitching duel here.

BACK UNDER 9 (-110).

Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Miami Marlins (4-7) play the 2nd outing in a 3-game road series against the Philadelphia Phillies (4-6) Tuesday. First pitch at Citizens Bank Park is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Phillies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Phillies lead 1-0. Phillies won the season series 12-7 in 2022.

The Marlins were slammed 15-3 in the series opener in Philadelphia on Monday. The Marlins have dropped 3 of the past 4 games overall and have cashed the Over in 3 of those outings, too. The 15 runs allowed were the most all season, but Miami has yielded 5 or more runs in 6 of the past 9 games.

The Phillies broke out the whooping stick Monday, easily producing the most runs they’ve had in a single game this season. Philadelphia had averaged just 2.9 runs per game (RPG) across the previous 8 games since posting 7 runs in the season opener March 30 in Texas.

Marlins at Phillies projected starters

LHP Jesus Luzardo vs. RHP Aaron Nola

Luzardo (1-0, 0.71 ERA) makes his 3rd start. He has a 0.95 WHIP, 3.6 BB/9 and 10.7 K/9 through 12 2/3 IP.

  • Allowed 1 ER on 5 H and 1 BB with 10 K across 7 IP in a no-decision against the Minnesota Twins Wednesday
  • Yielded just 2 ER on 4 H and 2 BB with 9 K across 7 IP in a no-decision Sept. 6 in Philadelphia in his only start against the Phillies in 2022

Nola (0-1, 7.45 ERA) makes his 3rd start. He has a 1.45 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9 and 8.4 K/9 through 9 2/3 IP.

  • Coughed up 3 ER on 7 H and 1 BB with 5 K across 6 IP in a loss on the road against the New York Yankees Wednesday

Marlins at Phillies picks and predictions

Prediction

Marlins 6, Phillies 5

Moneyline

The MARLINS (+135) were horrendous in Monday’s series opener, but Tuesday is a new day. Nola has been poor for the Phillies so far, and being back in the bandbox which is Citizens Bank Park won’t be super helpful to snapping the right-hander on track.

The Marlins are 8-3 in the past 11 games following a loss while the Phillies are 1-5 in the past 6 games after a win and 1-5 in the past 6 tries against a left-handed starting pitcher.

Run line/Against the spread

The MARLINS +1.5 (-155) aren’t priced out of line if you’d like a little insurance, and just can’t bring yourself to play the underdog straight up.

However, Miami is just 3-6 on the run line as an underdog so far this season so proceed with caution, but the Phillies are 1-3 on the run line as a favorite so far this season.

Over/Under

OVER 7.5 (-110) is the lean in this battle in the City of Brotherly Love.

The Over is 3-1-1 in the past 5 games on the road for Miami and is 7-1 in Philadelphia’s past 8 games inside the NL East. The Over is also 4-1 in the past 5 games for the Phillies against teams with a losing overall record, too.

RHP Sandy Alcántara vs. LHP Matt Strahm

Alcántara (1-0, 1.84 ERA) makes his 3rd start. He has a 0.75 WHIP, 3.1 BB/9 and 4.3 K/9 through 14 2/3 IP.

  • Went 14-9 with a 2.28 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 2.0 BB/9 and 8.1 K/9 in 228 2/3 IP across 32 starts in 2022.

Marlins at Phillies picks and predictions

Prediction

Marlins 3, Phillies 2

Moneyline

BET MARLINS (-130).

Alcántara has picked up right where he left off last season as the 2022 NL Cy Young Award winner. Strahm has struggled vs. Miami in the past and Philadelphia’s pitching staff has the 4th-highest ERA this season at 5.68.

Miami is 4-0 in its last 4 games vs. left-handed starters and should be able to take advantage of this Phillies team that has underperformed to start the season.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

It is unlikely that Philadelphia would lose back-to-back home games by multiple runs. Philadelphia should hit, but there is no need to pay the higher price on the run line when Marlins’ moneyline is the better play. Bet Marlins moneyline and/or the total instead.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

BET UNDER 8 (-110).

The Under is 9-4-3 in Miami’s last 16 games and 4-1-1 in Miami’s last 6 on the road. These teams tend to play low-scoring games vs. each other, with the Under hitting in 8 of the last 10 meetings, and Monday’s matchup should stay under the total once again with Alcántara on the mound.
