A 3-star offensive lineman, Marc Nave breaks down why he committed to Kentucky last month

Marc Nave made a huge decision last month to commit to Kentucky.

Marc Nave gave his commitment to Kentucky a month ago. The offensive lineman had committed to Ohio State in early June.

It has been a whirlwind fall for Nave, an offensive lineman at Central Catholic (Toledo, Ohio). In late September, three months after he had verballed, Nave de-committed from Ohio State. By Nov. 16, Nave had given his verbal to Kentucky.

It was an opportunity, Nave said, that was a perfect fit for him.

“I would say the reason I committed to UK was because of the family atmosphere down there,” Nave told USA TODAY High School Sports.

“And the great opportunities presented to me that I wasn’t getting from other schools.”

Nave is ranked the No. 25 player in Ohio and the No. 45 interior offensive lineman in the nation according to 247Sports. He also held offers from Auburn, Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia, Indiana, Louisville, Missouri, Pittsburgh and Purdue among others.

It is a bit of a gamble for Nave. Ohio State is, well, THE Ohio State, one of the blueblood programs of college football.

Kentucky is a strong program, but Nave said he needed to follow his heart in making this decision.

“For sure it was (a risk) but I think I made the right decision due to the fact that I felt like God had a different calling for me and another place where I would be more comfortable at,” Nave said.

“And Marrow (Vince Marrow, associate head coach at Kentucky) and the UK staff stayed in touch throughout my entire commitment to Ohio State so that showed how interested they were in me.”

The 6-foot-5, 320-pound interior offensive lineman plans to enroll at Kentucky in the summer.

Three-star Marc Nave de-commits from Ohio State

Marc Nave de-commits from Ohio State football.

Ohio State lost a verbal on Saturday as three-star offensive line Marc Nave re-opened his commitment.

Nave, from Central Catholic (Toledo, Ohio), had committed to Ohio State in March as a part of their 2024 recruiting class. According to 247Sports, Nave is the No. 21 recruit in Ohio and the No. 38 interior offensive lineman in the nation.

He holds offers from Auburn, Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia, Louisville, Missouri and Pittsburgh among others.

In a Saturday afternoon post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Dave explained his decision to re-open his commitment and rescind his pledge from Ohio State.

The message seemed very much directed towards Ohio State fans. Dave wrote in part:

“I feel as if I rushed this process and I’ve prayed on it and it’s God’s will not mine. I want to thank you all and I wish nothing but the best for your program going forward.”

In the On3 2024 Industry Ranking Football Team Recruiting Rankings, Ohio State currently has the second-highest recruiting class in the nation.

Ohio State football loses 2024 in-state offensive line commit

The Buckeyes lose an offensive lineman in the 2024 class #GoBucks

[autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] will need to find at least one, possibly two more offensive lineman after the news that in-state 2024 tackle [autotag]Marc Nave[/autotag] has decommitted from the program.

The Toledo native made a March decision to join the Buckeye recruiting class, but on Saturday, Nave opted to go a different route. The tackle stands 6-foot, 5-inches and weighs 310-pounds, is ranked as the No. 44 interior offensive lineman and 644th overall prospect in his class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The Buckeyes have missed out on more than a few tackle prospects recently, which makes you wonder why the coaching staff didn’t try and keep Nave in the class.

The Ohio State 2024 class now has just three line commits, and will now reshuffle their recruiting board to find others to join the class.

A twin BOOM with your morning coffee #GoBucks

Fresh off visits to Columbus, Devontae and Deontae Armstrong again received a feel for what it would be like to continue their playing careers at [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag].

It didn’t take them long to make a decision about what was next. The short weekend trip confirmed their feelings and on Monday morning the twins announced their commitments to head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] and offensive line coach [autotag]Justin Frye[/autotag].

Deontae is rated as the No. 25 offensive tackle in the country and the 313th overall player by the 247Sports composite. Devontae is ranked as an interior lineman, ranking as 23rd-best in the country, and 353rd overall player.

Deontae announced the decision first, but his brother followed shortly afterward.

The twins join a 2024 class that has grown to six, including four offensive linemen. ([autotag]Ian Moore[/autotag] and [autotag]Marc Nave[/autotag]) are the other offensive linemen.
