WATCH: Tom Izzo, Juwan Howard, and Michigan State basketball players’ media sessions following MSU’s win over Michigan

On Saturday night, Michigan State basketball earned one of their most satisfying wins of the season, taking down their rival, Michigan, in Ann Arbor 73-63.

This was an important one for MSU for many reasons. This team now has won three conference road games, something that has been extremely hard for them, and many other teams, to come by this season.

It also featured another dominant performance from Malik Hall (18 points), who, along with Tyson Walker (19 points), led the Spartans in scoring. This has been extremely encouraging sign as Michigan State approaches March.

After the game, Tom Izzo, A.J. Hoggard, Tyson Walker and Malik Hall all spoke to the media, and you can find each of those interviews below, which were recorded and posted on YouTube by SpartanMag.com. Juwan Howard, Tarris Reed Jr. and Nimari Burnett also spoke to the media, and their session was recorded by UMHoops.com.

3 Takeaways from Michigan State basketball’s win at Penn State

3 Takeaways from Michigan State’s win at Penn State

Michigan State went on the road and got a huge victory over Penn State, taking down the Nittany Lions, 80-72.

While a convincing performance, you can tell Tom Izzo wasn’t entirely satisfied, but all in all, a win is a win and the Spartans made it relatively stress free for Spartan Nation.

The win also posed as a huge Q2 victory for MSU, further bolstering their NCAA Tournament resume, something that needs to continue to improve for the Spartans to feel good on selection Sunday.

Check out three takeaways from MSU’s big win:

LOOK: Penn State HC Mike Rhoades compliments Malik Hall

Penn State head coach Mike Rhoades had high praise for Malik Hall after the game on Wednesday:

Michigan State went on the road and took out Penn State in State College, defeating the Nittany Lions, 80-72.

The Spartans wo the contest despite MSU only getting 10 total points from Tyson Walker and AJ Hoggard. It was Malik Hall who picked up the slack.

Malik Hall had a career high 29-points in the matchup and carried the Spartans to a massive Q2 victory on the road.

Penn State head coach Mike Rhoades spoke on Hall after the game, calling him a beast. Check out his full quote:

Michigan State basketball players react to win over No. 10 Illinois

On Tuesday, Michigan State basketball suffered one of their more disappointing losses of the season, dropping a game against Minnesota on the road that they had a lead in late in the game. On Saturday, we saw a motivated and energized MSU team handle business at home against No. 10 Illinois, beating their rivals 88 to 80.

After the game, a few of the Spartan players talked to the media about the victory and gave their thoughts on an exciting day for the program. You can see some of their quotes, along with a few social media posts they sent out, and a nice message from a Spartan legend below.

Rutgers men’s basketball falls to Michigan State due to second half collapse

Rutgers men’s basketball had a disappointing loss at Michigan State.

Rutgers men’s basketball lost on Sunday, a 73-55 decision at Michigan State. Rutgers was able to keep the game close in the first half before the Spartans took over in the final 20 minutes.

The loss drops Rutgers to 9-7 (1-4 Big Ten).

Michigan State was led by Malik Hall and Tyson Walker in their second straight win. Hall scored more than 10 points for the second straight game, adding 15 to his resume. Walker continued to be a scoring machine with 13 points. He has scored at least 10 points every game this season.

In this matchup, Rutgers only turned the ball over 10 times, but Michigan State built their lead on three-pointers. The Spartans shot 48 percent from beyond the arc.

While Rutgers was unable to build on their win over Indiana, there were still a few bright spots. Aundre Hyatt led the way with 14 points and Mawot Mag added 12 of his own. In his last three games, Mag has scored 49 points.

However, that was not enough to stop Michigan State. In the second half, they outscored Rutgers 45-33. That included a 19-0 run in a four-and-a-half-minute span that put the game out of reach. As a result, Rutgers is now 1-4 in conference play.

With their 16th game of the season in the books, Rutgers will shift its focus to its next game against Nebraska on Wednesday. The Cornhuskers are 3-3 in conference play this season.

Michigan State basketball F Malik Hall questionable vs Wisconsin

Malik Hall is questionable for MSU’s game against Wisconsin:

Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo mentioned that Malik Hall was dealing with the flu and it has kept him out of action for this past weekend at practice. Now, ahead of the Spartans Tuesday night clash with Wisconsin, the team has released its availability report and it is Hall that is listed as questionable to play in the game.

Of note in the availability report, Jaxon Kohler is still out with his foot injury.

The Spartans and Badgers will tip off just past 7 p.m.

Michigan basketball analyst omits Malik Hall from top players list

A Michigan basketball analyst isn’t too fond of Malik Hall:

Malik Hall has been a key cog of Michigan State’s basketball program over the past four seasons, and the Spartans got a huge boost when the veteran decided to come back for one more fifth and final year in 2023-24.

Former Michigan basketball player, and current analyst, Ant Wright has been very involved in the Big Ten basketball scene on Twitter. In his latest edition, Wright ranked the top five power forwards in the conference. The list consisted of new Michigan PF, Tennessee transfer Oliver Nkamhoua in the top spot followed by Coleman Hawkins (Illinois), Dawson Garcia (Minnesota), Tyler Wahl (Wisconsin) and Donta Scott (Maryland), leaving Hall off of the list.
