ESPN College GameDay picks winner of Ohio State vs. Maryland

We know you have the Buckeyes winning, but do they? #GoBucks

Although [autotag]ESPN College GameDay[/autotag] is not in Columbus, Ohio for the [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] against [autotag]Maryland[/autotag] football contest, it’s still a big game.

The show’s broadcast team traveled to Dallas, Texas, to be on hand for the Red River Rivalry, as two undefeated teams, Oklahoma and Texas, face off in their final Big 12 version of the rivalry.

Analysts [autotag]Desmond Howard[/autotag], [autotag]Pat McAfee[/autotag], [autotag]Lee Corso[/autotag] and [autotag]Kirk Herbstreit[/autotag] were joined by guest picker Baker Mayfield, former Sooner and current Tampa Bay Buccaneer quarterback to make their picks for this week.

One for their games was of course the Buckeyes and Terrapins. Find out below who each of them picked to win the game today.

Fox’s Big Noon Saturday trolled College GameDay by flying Washington State flags on set

So, the Washington State controversy is still a thing for some reason.

The ongoing Washington State drama, also known as the most pointless controversy of the college football season in some corners, took another turn Saturday morning on Fox Sports’ Big Noon Kickoff.

After Lee Corso’s misinterpreted comment sparked a misinformed comment from Wazzu coach Jake Dickert — and was sorted out like normal adults would in a misunderstanding — ESPN’s Pat McAfee and Desmond Howard tried to keep the mess going last week for some reason.

Well, now GameDay’s rival pregame show is jumping into the ring. Matt Leinart led a pro-Washington State flag-waving celebration on air this week on Big Noon Kickoff because, honestly, there just isn’t a lot going on this week besides the Red River Showdown, and you’ve got to fill the air somehow.

Seeing these grown men flying flags to troll another college football pregame show is just the “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” scene from Mary Poppins, only dumber.

Look, our current sports media landscape rewards the more salacious stuff like this as it spreads out over multiple weeks.

Everyone is always mad about everything, and now, Washington State has become the fixation of college football coverage for a controversy that apparently got resolved last month. In a few weeks, this will be forgotten because the bits will wither on the grapevine, like all stupid controversies in all sports do.

It’ll turn into something else dumb, like someone doing the horns down at an actual longhorn this week and getting chased around while McAfee does push-ups or something. Go Cougars; eat at Arby’s.

ESPN College GameDay picks Notre Dame at Louisville and Week 6’s top games

Who do you have winning during Week 6?

In a shocking move, [autotag]ESPN College GameDay[/autotag] did not follow [autotag]Notre Dame football[/autotag] to [autotag]Louisville[/autotag] this weekend.

The previous two, against Ohio State and Duke, GameDay was on hand for the Irish contests. This weekend, they headed to Dallas, Texas to see the Red River Rivalry, two undefeated teams in Oklahoman and Texas facing off in their final game as members of the Big 12.

They brought in former Heisman winning Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield to be the guest picker, along with the regular crew of game pickers in [autotag]Desmond Howard[/autotag], [autotag]Pat McAfee[/autotag], [autotag]Lee Corso[/autotag] and [autotag]Kirk Herbstreit[/autotag].

Find out below who they picked to win Notre Dame at Louisville along with the rest of the best games of Week 6 action.

Who did Lee Corso and the GameDay crew pick in Week 5?

Does the GameDay crew think Notre Dame can redeem its loss to Ohio State? Or will Duke establish themselves as an ACC power player? Week 5 picks here:

For the second straight week, the College GameDay crew followed the Notre Dame football team. This team, both crews made the trip to Durham for the Fighting Irish’s battle with the Duke Blue Devils.

Does the GameDay crew think Notre Dame can avenge their heart-breaking last-second loss to Ohio State last week? Or can Duke establish itself as one of Florida State’s major threats in the ACC? Do Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, or Kirk Herbstreit think any of the top teams in the country are in trouble?

Although the Irish are on the road for this one, it still shouldn’t dull down the fact that the game against Duke is one of the biggest contest of the weekend.

The crew of [autotag]Desmond Howard[/autotag], [autotag]Pat McAfee[/autotag], [autotag]Lee Corso[/autotag] and [autotag]Kirk Herbstreit[/autotag] were joined by actor, comedian, doctor and former Duke alum [autotag]Ken Jeong[/autotag] as the guest picker for Week 5’s action.

ESPN’s College GameDay crew split on Alabama-Ole Miss picks

Alabama was picked by some, but not all, to take down Ole Miss in Week 4.

Alabama enters Week 4 ranked No. 13 in the nation with a record of 2-1. A lot are doubting the Crimson Tide and believe this could be the season where Alabama falls apart.

The Tide opens conference play with a matchup at home against Lane Kiffin and No. 15 Ole Miss.

ESPN’s College GameDay, which was broadcasting live from South Bend at the Ohio State vs. Notre Dame contest, made their picks for the biggest games of the day.

For Alabama vs. Ole Miss, the panel was split. Desmond Howard and Lee Corso chose the Rebels, while Pat McAfee, Kirk Herbstreit and guest picker Vince Vaughn chose to roll with the Tide.

When ESPN’s College GameDay first hit the road, their first trip was to Indiana for one of the most storied programs in the sport: Notre Dame.

The College GameDay crew, now looking a little different, has returned to South Bend to visit the Fighting Irish ahead of its top-10 matchup with Ohio State. They were joined by actor Vince Vaughn, donning a Notre Dame letterman jacket for the Irish faithful in attendance.

Was the home-field advantage enough to convince the College GameDay crew to pick Notre Dame? Can Vaughn match The Rock’s 8-2 record as a guest picker a week ago? Which top-5 team did Pat McAfee pick to lose? Check out the crew’s answers here.

Lee Corso wants ESPN’s College GameDay to make its first trip to Durham next week for Notre Dame vs. Duke

Lee Corso wants ESPN’s GameDay to go to Durham. Someone call Mike Krzyzewski for guest-picking honors.

ESPN’s signature college football show “College GameDay” has been broadcasting live from campuses on Saturdays in the fall since 1993. And since its creation, there’s just a handful of Power Five schools that have never been involved in GameDay, as a host or opponent.

One of them is the Duke Blue Devils.

While we all know Duke as a powerhouse in basketball, its football team hasn’t always been consistently relevant.

But this year, in their second season with Mike Elko as head coach and Riley Leonard at quarterback, the Blue Devils are pretty dang good. Heading into this week’s matchup at UConn, Duke is 3-0 and ranked No. 18 in the AP Top 25 Poll – its highest ranking since 1994.

Since Duke has never been part of GameDay as an opponent or host, that means longtime panelist Lee Corso has never had the chance to put the Blue Devil on during his weekly headgear pick. He’s lobbying for that to change.

In a video shared Saturday morning by WSJS (Winston-Salem, N.C.) host Josh Graham, Corso – who is talking with fellow GameDay analyst Kirk Herbstreit – says “I hope we go up (to Duke) … I’ll pick Duke. I don’t care.”

“I think, personally, even if Notre Dame loses today, we ought to go to Duke.”

Notre Dame plays Ohio State on Saturday in South Bend, Indiana. The Irish would still likely be ranked in the AP Poll even if they lose, creating a ranked versus ranked matchup at Durham, N.C.’s Wallace Wade Stadium on Sept. 30 (assuming Duke, +21.5 favorites on Saturday at UConn, beats the Huskies).

Later in the video, Herbstreit asks Corso, “Cameron Crazies – do they do football too?” And indeed, they do. Duke students rushed the field earlier this season when Duke upset Clemson in Week One.

Hosting Notre Dame – and College GameDay – would likely create a similar atmosphere in Durham with a rowdy crowd.

Should ESPN follow Corso’s request, choosing a celebrity guest picker for Duke versus Notre Dame should be easy. Retired Blue Devils basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski should be available.
