Patriots Wire staff game picks and scores for Patriots-Saints game

Patriots Wire staff make their Week 5 game picks

An ugly shellacking at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys last week has the New England Patriots faced with a must-win game on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

It would feel like a nail in the coffin to have the struggling Saints march right into Gillette Stadium in Week 5 and hand the Patriots their fourth loss of the season. New England is in desperate need of a rallying cry kind of performance, and they’ll have to do so without September NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month Christian Gonzalez and star linebacker Matthew Judon.

This game is expected to be mostly a defensive battle with both teams ranking near the bottom of the league in scoring offense. Here’s the full round-up of Patriots Wire staff picks for the Week 5 matchup:

Jordy McElroy (2-2) – Patriots 21, Saints 17

Danny Jaillet (4-0) – Patriots 17, Saints 27

Cam Garrity (2-2) – Patriots 17, Saints 14

Michael Braithwaite (1-3) – Patriots 16, Saints 15

Who do you have in Sunday’s game? Can the Patriots overcome the losses on defense? How will Mac Jones respond to being benched for Bailey Zappe last week? You can find us on Facebook and Twitter.

Who did Lee Corso and the College GameDay crew pick in Week 4

Who picked Colorado to upset Oregon? Which top-5 team will lose, according to Pat McAfee? Check out the College GameDay Week 4 picks.

When ESPN’s College GameDay first hit the road, their first trip was to Indiana for one of the most storied programs in the sport: Notre Dame.

The College GameDay crew, now looking a little different, has returned to South Bend to visit the Fighting Irish ahead of its top-10 matchup with Ohio State. They were joined by actor Vince Vaughn, donning a Notre Dame letterman jacket for the Irish faithful in attendance.

Was the home-field advantage enough to convince the College GameDay crew to pick Notre Dame? Can Vaughn match The Rock’s 8-2 record as a guest picker a week ago? Which top-5 team did Pat McAfee pick to lose? Check out the crew’s answers here.

Patriots Wire staff game picks and scores for Patriots-Eagles game

The official game picks and scores from the Patriots Wire staff are in!

Gillette Stadium will serve as the backdrop for the New England Patriots’ regular season opener against the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

On paper, this seems like an easy matchup for the Eagles. They are the far more talented football team, and the Patriots’ offensive line has been held together by paperclips and glue sticks throughout training camp and the preseason.

With that said, this is the first game of the season, and the Eagles are coming off a Super Bowl loss. The stingy and talented Patriots defense combined with Bill O’Brien returning as the offensive play-caller in New England creates all sorts of trap potential for this game.

But is that potential good enough for any of the Patriots Wire staff writers to actually pick the Patriots to win the game? Here’s the full round-up of picks for the Week 1 matchup:

Jordy McElroy (0-0) – Eagles 20, Patriots 24

Danny Jaillet (0-0) – Eagles 31, Patriots 17

Cam Garrity (0-0) – Eagles 27, Patriots 21

Michael Braithwaite (0-0) – Eagles 21, Patriots 24

What are your thoughts on Sunday’s game? Will the Patriots pull off the upset at home? You can find us on Facebook and Twitter.

Final score prediction for Commanders vs. Browns, Week 17

Our pick is in for Week 17. Commanders or Browns?

The Washington Commanders are in the driver’s seat for the NFC’s No. 7 and final spot. It’s pretty simple for Washington, win the final two games of the season, and you’re in.

Unfortunately for the Commanders, they’ve had multiple chances to cement a playoff berth in recent weeks but haven’t won a game since Nov. 27. Despite their recent struggles, the Commanders remain alive.

Now, Washington’s hopes ride on the right arm of Carson Wentz. Can Wentz lift Washington’s offense to a win over the Browns and momentum heading into the Week 18 season finale against the Dallas Cowboys?

We make our picks for Sunday’s game between the Commanders and Browns.

College Wire editors make their SEC Title game predictions

Score predictions and MVP picks for the SEC Championship game from the SEC editorial team.

And then there were two teams remaining.

After 13 weeks of college football, we have the SEC Championship game between the LSU Tigers and the Georgia Bulldogs. For the fifth time in the game’s history, these two teams will square off. LSU holds the 3-1 edge in the previous four matchups. The last was in 2019 when the Tigers won 37-10.

None of the four games were close; all were decided by 20 or more points. Why should this year be any different?

For the final time before bowl season arrives, the College Wire’s SEC editorial staff make their game picks.

Can LSU pull off the improbable or does Georgia win the SEC for the first time since 2017?

Saints overwhelmingly backed to beat Rams in Week 11 expert picks

Worried about a jinx? Week 11 expert picks show the Saints are overwhelmingly backed to beat the Rams on Sunday:

Huh? The latest NFL expert picks are in for Week 11, and the New Orleans Saints have a large crowd backing them up at NFL Pickwatch. A stunning 72% of game picks surveyed from around the league’s media landscape like the Saints to win at home and cut their losing streak off at two games. Just 28% of experts like the Los Angeles Rams in Week 11 as of 9 a.m. ET on Friday.

While the Saints are in dire straits, the Rams might be worse off. Both squads have only won three games this season, and L.A. has been struggling to shift gears on offense even before superstar receiver Cooper Kupp went down with an injury. Their offensive line has been shuffling on a weekly basis, and quarterback Matthew Stafford is working his way through the final stages of concussion protocol. Their defense has looked toothless at times even when healthy.

So while many observers may like the Saints to win this game, it’s probably going to come down to the wire. New Orleans is managing a ton of injuries on both sides of the ball; four of their five starters along the offensive line have been listed on the injury report this week, as well as both defensive ends and top cornerback Marshon Lattimore. Neither team is close to full strength. We’ll see who comes through on Sunday.

Week 10 NFL game picks suggests Saints-Steelers will be a toss-up

Week 10 NFL game picks suggests Saints-Steelers will be a toss-up

We’re on to Week 10’s slate of NFL games, but Sunday’s matchup between the 3-6 New Orleans Saints and 2-6 Pittsburgh Steelers isn’t easy to figure out. Neither of these teams have played inspiring football through the first half of their seasons. They’re both dealing with shaky quarterback situations, inconsistent-at-best defenses, and some baffling coaching decisions. To top it all off, the game will be played during a cloudy, windy 41-degree Sunday afternoon at Pittsburgh.

So it’s going to be ugly. And nobody seems to have an idea of which squad will walk away with a win — just 56% of experts surveyed by NFL Pickwatch this week like the Saints to win on the road, with a strong 44% minority favoring the Steelers coming out of their bye week.

That’s a better differential than the Saints have seen in recent weeks, but that goes to show just how dire of straits both teams find themselves here. And it makes sense seeing as they’ve won a combined 5 of their last 17 games. It’s shaping up for a sloppy, mid-November slugfest between two teams hoping to avoid their seventh loss on the season so far.
