Report: Tennessee cornerback commit will official visit Notre Dame

Is a flip in the works?

It’s not quiet flipping season but [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] is getting their spatula warm.

The Irish have one of the best 2024 recruiting classes but they are looking for more top-end talent. One of those players they are working on is Tennessee cornerback commit [autotag]Kaleb Beasley[/autotag].

The 6-foot and 180 pound defender committed to the Vols this past October but that hasn’t stopped schools from recruiting him. Beasley just took an unofficial visit to South Bend but according to this report by Mike Singer of On3, an official visit will take place on the weekend of September 22nd.

Not only will Notre Dame be hosting Ohio State, Beasley will be in town also in what is turning into a massive recruiting weekend. The expectation is that many of the Irish’s top commitments will be in South Bend as well, so the Tennessee commit will get the full-court press.

Beasley is the 14th best cornerback and 150th overall player in the 2024 recruiting class according to the 247Sports composite.

Tennessee football recruiting: A look at the Vols’ notable upcoming March visits

The recruiting dead period ended Feb. 28 and the Volunteers have been actively hosting top recruits for on-campus visits throughout March.

Tennessee currently has five 2024 commitments, headlined by four-stars Jonathan Echols (athlete), JJ Harrell (wide receiver) and Kaleb Beasley (cornerback).

During March, Tennessee hosted four-star linebacker D’Angelo Barber, three-star running back Peyton Lewis, five-star edge rusher Ari Watford and four-star cornerback Jontae Gilbert.

The Vols’ 2024 recruiting class currently ranks No. 9 nationally and No. 5 in the Southeastern Conference. Tennessee’s 2024 class is on pace to be the highest-ranked for the Vols since 2015.

LSU cornerback target set to announce commitment Friday

The Tigers are one of five finalists for Kaleb Beasley.

[autotag]Kaleb Beasley[/autotag] is a six-foot, 179-pound cornerback from Nashville, Tennessee, where he stars for Lipscomb Academy.

The Mustangs are 8-0 this season and have a marquee win over Alabama 7A powerhouse, Thompson. Lipscomb Academy won the 2A state championship in Tennessee last year and they look like they are well on their way to running it back.

Recently, Beasley announced that he was going to make his college decision this Friday. He is choosing between five different schools as LSU, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Clemson all made the cut for the talented cornerback. Tennessee is crystal balled to be the winner in this recruitment race by 247Sports, and the Vols are also the favorite per On3.

Nothing is set in stone yet, though, and [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] is known to have a few tricks up his sleeve and he has been able to flip a few recruits that were favored to go elsewhere.

Kaleb Beasley includes Auburn in top 10 schools

Kaleb Beasley is one of the best players from Tennessee and he is interested in Auburn.

It is an important time for the 2023 recruiting class, as many of the top recruits announce their commitment ahead of their senior seasons.

That doesn’t mean that July is just about that class though, [autotag]Kaleb Beasley[/autotag], a four-star cornerback in the 2024 cycle, announced his top 10 schools and Auburn made the cut.

Beasley, a 6-foot, 179-pound prospect from Nashville, has five SEC schools among his top 10. Auburn is joined by Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Oklahoma. He also included Penn State, Michigan, Clemson, and Notre Dame.

He is ranked as the No. 219 overall player and No. 26 corner in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 3 player from Tennessee.

Beasley plays wide receiver and corner for Lipscomb Academy and also plays basketball for the Mustangs. While it will be tough for Auburn to pull him out of the Volunteer State, he has taken an unofficial visit to Auburn’s campus and left with a scholarship offer.

Clemson has offered a highly regarded defensive back from the Volunteer State who was one of the headlining prospects that participated in the fifth and final day of the Dabo Swinney Camp on Sunday.

Lipscomb Academy (Nashville, Tenn.) 2024 four-star cornerback Kaleb Beasley announced the offer from the Tigers via social media after working out at the Swinney Camp on Sunday morning.

Beasley (6-2, 180) is the top-ranked prospect in the state of Tennessee, No. 11 cornerback nationally and No. 101 overall prospect for the 2024 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

As The Clemson Insider reported in our Swinney Camp Notebook on Sunday morning, Beasley was greeted by Mike Reed as soon as he arrived on campus Sunday. Clemson’s cornerbacks coach and defensive assistant DeAndre McDaniel spent a lot of time honing in on Beasley. They paid a significant amount of attention to every detail and were very hands-on with him.

Clemson joins schools such as Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State and Tennessee on Beasley’s list of more than two dozen total offers.

Beasley spoke with TCI last month about what an offer from Clemson would mean to him.

“It would be a blessing, like it would be crazy,” he said. “They don’t really offer a lot of people from Tennessee as it is, and it is Clemson too. So, getting one from there would be a blessing.”

The Clemson Insider was back on hand for the fifth and final day of the Dabo Swinney Camp on Sunday, June 12. Here are our notes and observations from Sunday’s one and only session at Swinney Camp.

  • While Sunday’s session wasn’t packed to the brim with top prospects, there were definitely some notable names working out this morning that we were left impressed with, including Cummings (Burlington, N.C.) 2024 four-star athlete Jonathan Paylor.
  • While we watched Paylor work out this morning and receive the attention of Clemson wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham, we stood by his offensive coordinator, Jasmine Vinson, who made the nearly four-hour trek from Burlington this morning.
  • Even Vinson was left wowed by some of the catches his own player was making. Paylor was congratulated by Grisham multiple times for some of those acrobatic catches.
    • Paylor (5-9, 170) is a natural athlete with a track background, who plays above the rim. While he works primarily out of the slot at Cummings, according to Vinson, that’s mainly because they want to get him in space. He’s the type of receiver that can play anywhere, but you just want to get the ball in his hands.
  • Paylor isn’t necessarily expecting to be offered by Clemson, but we would be surprised if the No. 4 athlete and nation’s No. 18 overall prospect regardless of position in the class of 2024 (247Sports) didn’t at least warrant a look after today’s performance.
  • Another headliner prospect that we paid close attention to was Lipscomb Academy (Nashville, Tenn.) 2024 four-star cornerback Kaleb Beasley. As soon as he arrived on campus Sunday, he was greeted by Mike Reed.
    • Clemson’s cornerbacks coach and defensive assistant DeAndre McDaniel spent a lot of time honing in on Beasley. They paid a significant amount of attention to every detail and were very hands-on with him.
  • We would be surprised if Beasley, who currently ranks as the nation’s No. 11 cornerback in his class (247Sports Composite rankings), didn’t become the third rising junior cornerback that the Tigers offer this month, joining both Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, Va.) four-star Asaad Brown and St. Joe’s Prep (Philadelphia, Pa.) four-star Omilio Agard.
  • The last prospect who camped today that we wanted to touch on was Jesuit (Tampa, Fla.) 2024 three-star linebacker Drew Woodaz. Drew, who is the younger brother of Clemson linebacker signee Wade Woodaz, has now been to Clemson countless times in the past year.
  • After receiving an offer from the University of Oklahoma earlier this week, the younger Woodaz brother arrived on campus today and impressed with his athleticism and range during his workout. It was clear that Drew had the attention of defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Wesley Goodwin, who served as Wade’s lead recruiter, following Brent Venables’ departure to Norman.
  • Last but certainly not least, we can tell you that Pace Academy (Atlanta, Ga.) five-star defensive lineman Hevin Brown-Shuler will be visiting campus today, but he did not work out as far as we know.

Tennessee 2024 cornerback will visit Notre Dame in June

The Irish are getting an unofficial

The 2024 recruiting class is still a ways from their signing day, but that doesn’t mean that teams and recruits are waiting to make decisions. The Irish already have two commitments in that cycle, defensive end’s [autotag] Brandon Davis-Swain[/autotag] and [autotag]Owen Wafle[/autotag].

[autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] has been great during his tenure on the recruiting trail and it seems like that is not going to stop anytime soon. Yet another example of this is ‘24 cornerback [autotag]Kaleb Beasley[/autotag], a six-foot-two-inch and 180-pound cornerback who holds offers from the Irish, Georgia, Michigan, Oklahoma, LSU, Auburn and others announcing today that he will be visiting South Bend on June 5th.

The Tennessee star is not going to be easy to get out of SEC country, but the Irish are making an impression with Beasley. They are one of two non-SEC teams currently on his visit list, the other being Oklahoma. It is still early, but Notre Dame getting a visit is definitely a good sign.
