Florida 2024 four-star safety has Ohio State in his top five

The Buckeyes are included in his final group #GoBucks

It’s widely known that in [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag]’s defensive scheme under [autotag]Jim Knowles[/autotag], safeties make the calls and are the focal point of the strategy.

The Buckeyes are trying to find the best prospects that fit the scheme and 2024 Florida safety [autotag]Zaquan Patterson[/autotag] does that. The 6-foot, 1-inch, 195-pound defender has narrowed his list to five schools: Florida State, Miami, Auburn, Michigan and Ohio State.

Patterson is the No. 5 best safety and 73rd overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle on the 247Sports composite.

At this moment, Ohio State could have athlete commitment [autotag]Garrett Stover[/autotag] play the position, but he could also end up at linebacker. There is a need for top-end talent at safety, and Patterson is one of the top targets for Knowles and head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag].

Scout’s view: Ohio State’s newest commit, linebacker Payton Pierce

Could Pierce have a similar career as another former Buckeye from Texas? #GoBucks

It should come as no surprise that Texas linebacker [autotag]Payton Pierce[/autotag] chose Ohio State.

The Buckeyes are getting a linebacker that has an incredibly high ceiling and is ranked as one of the best players in the country. The 247Sports Composite ranks Pierce as the No. 15 best ‘backer and 151st overall recruit.

The 6-foot, 2-inch, 225-pound defender chose Ohio State over offers from Oklahoma, Notre Dame, LSU, Michigan, and others.

Pierce became the 10th commit in the 2024 recruiting cycle for [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag], who looks to have turned the recruiting focus to defense after a recent run of offensive stars.

Although [autotag]Garrett Stover[/autotag] is listed as a linebacker, he could end up at safety, which could be a similar case with Pierce. Find out below what the Buckeyes are getting from their most recent commitment.

Ohio State offers underrated 2024 defensive tackle

The big Louisianan gets a Buckeye offer #GoBucks

At the current moment, the [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] 2024 recruiting class is very heavy on offensive commitments. Of the six current verbals, just one of them, [autotag]Garrett Stover[/autotag], is projected to play on the defensive side of the ball.

There is a big need on that side of the ball and it looks like head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] and defensive line coach [autotag]Larry Johnson[/autotag] are trying to rectify the unbalanced class.

Recently they offered Louisiana defensive tackle [autotag]Jowhar Franklin Jr.[/autotag] a scholarship, his first from a team that has played in a College Football Playoff game. He is currently unranked by the 247Sports composite.

What makes this very interesting is that shortly after the Buckeyes’ offer, Franklin Jr. will be making an announcement on Saturday at noon. He already has released his top 6, but that was prior to the Ohio State offer. There very well could be an adjustment to his top list and timeframe and we will find out shortly.

Ohio State makes top 7 for Wisconsin offensive lineman

He would look good in Scarlet and Gray #GoBucks

The Buckeyes are always looking to secure top offensive line talent and have had some very good luck recently finding that in Wisconsin. Typically a very, pro-Badger area, last year [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] went into the state and signed [autotag]Carson Hinzman[/autotag], who has a bright future for [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag].

Day is looking to steal another offensive lineman from under the Badgers’ nose, [autotag]Donovan Harbour[/autotag]. Today the 6-foot-5-inch, 310-pound offensive tackle announced his top seven schools, which consisted of the Badgers, Penn State, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee, Florida and the Buckeyes. He is viewed as one of the top offensive line prospects in the country, and it’s good news that the Buckeyes have made the cut.

There are just three commits for the Buckeyes in the 2024 cycle, [autotag]Jeremiah Smith[/autotag], [autotag]Ian Moore[/autotag] and [autotag]Garrett Stover[/autotag]. Harbour would be a great addition to this group: Adding elite tackles is always a good idea.

Report: Ohio State team to beat for 2024 Washington, DC offensive lineman

Who wouldn’t want to block for Dylan?

With the 2023 recruiting cycle quickly coming to an end, many school have already started to recruit some 2024 prospects very hard. For the Buckeyes, they are off to a very good start, especially at quarterback with consensus number one overall player [autotag]Dylan Raiola[/autotag]. Indiana offensive lineman [autotag]Ian Moore[/autotag] and Ohio athlete [autotag]Garrett Stover[/autotag] round out the class and according to a report (insider) from 247Sports Steve Wiltfong, Ohio State is leading for Washington, DC offensive lineman Jordan Seaton.

The six-foot-five-inch and 287-pound interior lineman holds offers from Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, LSU, Tennessee, USC and others. Seaton is fresh off a visit to Columbus this past weekend and Wiltfong has crystal balled him to eventually join the class.

It would be another recruiting win for [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] and offensive line coach [autotag]Justin Frye[/autotag] if Seaton were to commit. Time will tell is this report is correct but at the moment, things looks very good for Ohio State with Seaton.

BOOM! Ohio State football gets commitment from 4-star 2024 safety

BOOM! Ohio State got a big commitment to the 2024 class late Monday night. #GoBucks

While the majority of you are probably hitting the sack or preparing for a Tuesday of life, the Ohio State football team got a big commitment from 4-star safety Garrett Stover.

Yes, we know what you are thinking, and it is indeed true — the 6-foot, 2-inches, 195-pounder out of Sunbury, Ohio, is related to current OSU tight end Cade Stover. The pair are cousins, and you have to believe it played a role in the class of 2024’s No. 36 athlete, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, choosing to play on the banks of the Olentangy.

Stover’s commitment makes him the third commitment in the class along with 5-star quarterback Dylan Raiola and 4-star offensive tackle Ian Moore. It ended up being a book-end day of losing one commitment and gaining one all in the same day.

We’ll continue to keep an eye on what kind of recruiting news makes its way around the Ohio State program as we near the early signing period.
