See it: Giants’ full 2023 NFL draft class

The 2023 NFL draft has come and gone for the New York Giants, so here’s a quick look at their seven-player draft class.

The 2023 NFL draft has officially come and gone and after multiple trades, the New York Giants ended up with seven total picks.

With those picks, the Giants came away with multiple Day 1 starters, a few role players, and several depth guys. Overall, general manager Joe Schoen addressed most of the team’s remaining needs and significantly improved their roster overall.

Here’s a quick look at the Giants’ entire 2023 draft class:

Giants select Jordon Riley: 3 things to know

The New York Giants selected Oregon’s Jordon Riley in Round 7 of the 2023 NFL draft, so here are three things to know about their newest DT.

The New York Giants selected Oregon defensive tackle Jordon Riley with the 243rd pick in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL draft on Saturday in Kansas City.

Here are three things to know about the newest member of the Giants.

2023 NFL draft: Giants select Jordon Riley in Round 7

The New York Giants added a massive body to their D-Line rotation in Round 7 of the 2023 NFL draft, selecting Oregon’s Jordon Riley.

The New York Giants and general manager Joe Schoen entered the offseason with concern over their depth along the defensive line.

Despite adding several bodies throughout free agency, Schoen decided to continue piling on quantity during the 2023 NFL draft. And with pick No. 243 overall in Round 7, they selected Oregon defensive tackle Jordon Riley.

Riley is a massive body at 6-foot-5 and 338 pounds. Here is a brief background (pre-Oregon) courtesy of Sports Illustrated:

Jordon Riley is a transfer from Nebraska. Before Nebraska, Riley spent one season at Garden City CC, appearing in nine games. He finished with 26 tackles, two sacks and 3.5 TFLs. Became a leader on a Garden City defense that limited opponents to 289.0 yards of total offense and 125.0 rushing yards per game. At Nebraska last season, he saw action in 10 games, recording seven tackles and one TFL. He was also a part of the Academic All-Big Ten team in 2021.

Don Smalley of Ducks Wire also offered this take on Riley following his pro day:

Oregon Ducks defensive lineman Jordon Riley was most likely not on NFL scouts’ immediate radar, but after the Oregon Pro Day event held inside the Moshofsky Center, Riley might now be a blip on that radar screen.

The big 6-foot-5, 338-pounder showed his speed and agility with good times in the 40-yard dash and in the 10-yard split. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to show his strength as he skipped the bench presses.

But there’s much more to being an effective defensive lineman than raw feats of strength. There’s technique, determination and drive to get to the opposing quarterback or to make a big play when the team needs it the most. It’s called intangibles and Riley has plenty of those and then some.

Riley joins a rotation that includes A’Shawn Robinson, Rakeem Nunez-Roches, Leonard Williams, Dexter Lawrence, and D.J. Davidson.

15 late-round prospects Broncos could target in 2023 NFL draft

Here’s a quick look at 15 late-round prospects the Broncos could target in the 2023 NFL draft.

The Denver Broncos do not have first- or second-round picks to use in the 2023 NFL draft, so in order to have a great class (barring a trade up), general manager George Paton will have to find gems in the mid and late rounds of the draft.

The Broncos currently have five draft picks: Nos. 67 and 68 overall in the third round, No. 108 in the fourth, No. 139 in the fifth and No. 195 in the sixth. Denver does not currently hold a pick in the seventh round, but the club might acquire additional picks through draft-day trades.

Paton has made six trades through his first two drafts with the Broncos, trading down four times. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him trade down again this year to add more picks.

Today, we’re taking a quick look at 15 prospects that Denver could target in the fifth, sixth and seventh (late rounds) of the 2023 NFL draft.

Broncos host DL Jordon Riley on top-30 visit

Broncos draft prospect Jordon Riley is projected to be a late-round pick or undrafted free agent candidate.

The Denver Broncos recently hosted Oregon defensive lineman Jordon Riley on a top-30 visit, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. NFL teams are allowed to host up to 30 non-local prospects at their facility leading up to the draft each offseason.

Riley (6-5, 338 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash in 5.28 seconds and a 10-yard split in 1.89 seconds at Oregon’s pro day. He started his college career at North Carolina in 2017 before transferring to Garden City Community College in 2019.  Riley later transferred to Nebraska ahead of the 2020 season.

After two years with the Cornhuskers, Riley was a graduate transfer to Oregon ahead of the 2022 season. He totaled 21 tackles (1.5 behind the line), one pass breakup and a half sack in 13 games with the Ducks.

Riley is projected to be a late-round pick or undrafted free agent later this month. The Broncos do not currently hold a pick in the seventh round, so they might be looking at Riley as a UDFA candidate.

The 2023 NFL draft will be held in Kansas City from April 27-29.

Assessing Jordon Riley’s performance at Oregon Pro Day

Oregon defensive lineman Jordon Riley had a nice Pro Day and now scouts have the big 338-pounder on their radar.

Riley is projected to a free agent and hopefully he gets the chance to enter an NFL camp and show off those intangibles and get signed to a contract.

Oregon Ducks land transfer DL Jordon Riley from Nebraska

Jordon Riley is a massive transfer, quite litterally. The former 3-star DL stands at 6-foot-5, 330-pounds and is transferring to the Ducks.

The Oregon Ducks picked up another big player out of the transfer portal on Sunday night, receiving a commitment from former Nebraska Cornhuskers’ defensive lineman Jordon Riley.

Riley is a massive 6-foot-5, 330-pound lineman who was a former 3-star commit out of North Carolina. He played for two years at Nebraska after transferring from North Carolina in 2019. Riley has played in 7 career games with 14 total tackles.

The depth that Riley added to Oregon’s defensive line is important to note, as it gives the Ducks a solid second-line behind the returning starters from last season. We will have Brandon Dorlus, Popo Aumavae, Keyon Ware-Hudson, Bradyn Swinson and a few others returning, as well as the transfer of Sam Taimani from Washington and a nice class of incoming recruits.
