Jets send five club reps to Oregon Pro Day Tuesday

The Jets will have several team reps on site for the Oregon Pro Day on Tuesday.

The New York Jets are making their presence felt in Eugene, Oregon on Tuesday as the team sent five club members to Oregon Pro Day.

Per Jim Nagy of the Senior Bowl, the Jets will be helping position workouts at quarterback, wide receiver, defensive line and defensive back.

While it’s unlikely the Jets land quarterback Bo Nix in the draft, wide receiver Troy Franklin, running back Bucky Irving, offensive lineman Jackson Powers-Johnson, defensive lineman Brandon Dorlus and defensive backs Khyree Jackson and Evan Williams could very well be on their boards.

This comes on the heels of the Jets having a presence in Corvallis, Oregon Monday for Oregon State’s Pro Day, namely offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga, a very strong candidate to be the selection at No. 10 for the Jets.

Oregon Ducks pro day set, with Bo Nix, Troy Franklin, other set to showcase skills

The Oregon Ducks will reportedly host their pro day in early March as players like Bo Nix and Troy Franklin look to improve draft stock.

We are getting into the part of the football calendar where attention turns to the NFL draft, and the hundreds of players who are hoping to be selected by an NFL team this spring.

While the date for the NFL combine has been set for early March, and the draft will obviously take place in late April, we are starting to see dates be set for pro days across the nation as well.

According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Oregon Ducks pro day will take place on March 12th in Eugene, where players like Bo Nix, Troy Franklin, Bucky Irving, Jackson Powers-Johnson, Brandon Dorlus, Khyree Jackson, and several others will look to improve their draft stock.

The pro day will take place a little more than a week after the NFL combine, so it will offer a good chance for players to improve on their initial marks.

With Nix being among the top quarterback prospects in the draft this year, you can bet that there are going to be a ton of eyes on Eugene for the event.

Assessing Jordon Riley’s performance at Oregon Pro Day

Oregon defensive lineman Jordon Riley had a nice Pro Day and now scouts have the big 338-pounder on their radar.

Oregon Ducks defensive lineman Jordon Riley was most likely not on NFL scouts’ immediate radar, but after the Oregon Pro Day event held inside the Moshofsky Center, Riley might now be a blip on that radar screen.

The big 6-foot-5, 338-pounder showed his speed and agility with good times in the 40-yard dash and in the 10-yard split. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to show his strength as he skipped the bench presses.

But there’s much more to being an effective defensive lineman than raw feats of strength. There’s technique, determination and drive to get to the opposing quarterback or to make a big play when the team needs it the most. It’s called intangibles and Riley has plenty of those and then some.

Riley is projected to a free agent and hopefully he gets the chance to enter an NFL camp and show off those intangibles and get signed to a contract.

Assessing Ryan Walk’s performance at Oregon Pro Day

Ryan Walk’s impressive pro day may have improved his standing among the NFL scouts who attended the event in the Mo Center.

There are many reasons to have these so-called “Pro Days” at various campuses nationwide. NFL scouts get to see up close what the potential draft picks can do and write down whatever measurements they need to in order to make a decision come draft time.

But sometimes an athlete catches their eye that the scouts weren’t necessarily expecting to shine. Oregon offensive lineman Ryan Walk may have been one of those athletes.

Walk is projected to be a undrafted free agent, but after the Oregon Pro Day, he did nothing but improve his status among those watching.

He completed the most bench presses and had an impressive time in the 40-yard dash, crossing the finish line in just over five seconds. Should Walk go undrafted, after today, he will have teams offering him a free-agent contract shortly after.

Assessing Bennett Williams’ performance at Oregon Pro Day

Oregon defensive back Bennett Williams had a nice showing at the Oregon Pro Day, which should improve his chances landing with an NFL team this spring.

With 31 of the 32 NFL teams represented with scouts (the Los Angeles Rams had better things to do apparently), Oregon conducted its Pro Day with players who did and did not go to the NFL Combine earlier this month.

Among those who did not go to Indianapolis was defensive back Bennett Williams, who had a nice day in front of the scouts.

He managed to have the second-fastest 40-yard dash and did the second-most bench presses.

Williams is projected to be either a late-round draft pick or a free agent, but with a good showing today, he may have slightly improved that status.

Naming the biggest winners from Oregon’s 2023 Pro Day

The future Pro Ducks showed out in front of NFL scouts on Tuesday. Here are our biggest winners from the 2023 Oregon Pro Day.

The Oregon Ducks 2023 Pro Day took place on Tuesday morning at the Moshofsky Center in Eugene. It was a toned down version of the NFL Combine, where 12 former Ducks took the field in front of a large group of NFL scouts to show what they can do.

Various players went through a couple of jumps, the 40-yard dash, cone drills, and on-field position drills. In the end, their afternoon of work was boiled down to a large set of numbers, and a few pages of notes written in a notebook that several scouts will take back home to their respective coaches.

The entire spectacle may seem excessive to some, but it is virtually one of the biggest job interviews that some of these players will ever have. For guys like Chase Cota, Benett Williams, and Jordan Riley, among others, what they were able to put on tape at the Pro Day may got a long way in convincing an NFL team to give them a shot with a draft pick or practice squad invite in the future.

All in all, 12 guys took the field for Oregon on Tuesday:

  • Christian Gonzalez
  • Noah Sewell
  • DJ Johnson
  • Benett Williams
  • Jordon Riley
  • Chase Cota
  • Alex Forsyth
  • TJ Bass
  • Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu
  • Ryan Walk
  • Adam Barry
  • Karsten Battles

Which of those players had the best days and likely made the best impression on the scouts who were tuned in? Here are our picks.

Official measurements and times for all players at Oregon Ducks Pro Day

Here are all of the measurements and times for the 12 Oregon Pro Day participants on Tuesday.

One of the biggest job interviews of these young men’s lives is now over.

Now there’s nothing left to do but sit and wait for what’s to come.

The Oregon Ducks Pro Day took place on Tuesday at the Moshofsky Center in Eugene, giving 12 former players from Eugene a chance to showcase their talent and abilities to prospective NFL teams and scouts who were in attendance.

We got to see known quantities like Christian Gonzalez and Noah Sewell strut their stuff in position drills on the field, while others like Ryan Walk and Chase Cota put up some impressive numbers in the 40-yard-dash and jumps.

All in all, it was a successful day for the Ducks, and a day where we saw former Oregon great Penei Sewell in attendance, while current Oregon QB Bo Nix took part in some throwing drills for Cota.

Here are the official times that were released after the day.

The Oregon Ducks held their annual Pro Day on Tuesday at the Moshofscky Center next to Autzen Stadium, where scouts from all over in the NFL came to take a closer look at some of the best that Oregon had to offer.

It offered an opportunity for 12 former Ducks who are graduating to showcase their talents and potentially convince NFL teams to take a chance on them at the next level.

Cornerback Christian Gonzalez was the main attraction, of course, after likely solidifying his spot as a top 10 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. However, guys like Noah Sewell and DJ Johnson were able to try and improve their scores from the NFL Combine, while others like Chase Cota, Jordon Riley, and Bennett Williams were able to put some numbers on the record after not receiving combine invites.

The official times and numbers have not yet been released for the event, so check back on Ducks Wire later today for that information. In the meantime, here are some of the best pictures from the event.

Philadelphia Eagles sign Devon Allen after impressive Pro Day

The Philadelphia Eagles liked what they saw from Devon Allen at the Pro Day and signed him to a contract for the 2022 season.

That Pro Day really paid off, quite literally.

Devon Allen, who hasn’t played football in six years because of injury and that little event called the Olympics, has been signed by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Several Pro Ducks and possible draft selections worked out at the Moshofsky Center April 1 in hopes of catching the eye of NFL scouts with the hopes of being signed for the 2022 season.

It’s not a sure thing, but it worked out for Allen. He battled leg injuries in the past, but after medaling in the Olympics and Track World Championships, Allen proved he is completely healthy and ready to move on to a football career as either a wide receiver or kick specialist or a combination of both.

The Eagles have a history of dealing with Oregon personnel as they once hired Chip Kelly and have had Kiko Alonzo and Kenyon Barner on their roster.

Official 40-yard dash times and results for current and former Ducks in Oregon’s Pro Day

Official measurements and 40-times have been released for the Oregon Ducks Pro Day.

For the most part, a pro day in college football is broken down into two chunks, one where you take the heights and weights of players, measure their jumps, and time how fast they can run. The other half is spent with the players going through drills, throwing and catching footballs, and showing what they can do in between whistles.

You can decide which portion is more meaningful to tell whether or not a player can succeed at the next level.

While the game-flow section may be more beneficial for scouts, the takeaways are often subjective and stray away from data points. The measurements, on the other hand, are nothing but data points, and often what we take heading into the NFL draft.

For the Oregon Ducks, the official “stats” were released on Friday night. Here is how the 11 current and former players who participated fared on Friday afternoon:
