2022 #NFL mock draft roundup: #Eagles land Sauce Gardner, top #SeniorBowl edge rusher #NFLDraft2022 #TheDraftStartsInMOBILE

The draft process started in Mobile, Alabama this weekend and after an amazing Senior Bowl weekend, several mock drafts will have a totally different look.

Players like Jermaine Johnson (Edge), Malik Willis (QB), Kenny Pickett (QB), Trevor Penning (LT) and others put on a show, totally reshifting a lot of top-50 prospect lists.

With all the attention turning towards the Super Bowl, the NFL Combine, and the start of free agency, here’s a look at the latest mock draft roundups, with Philadelphia’s attention squarely focused on a certain FSU pass rusher.

Biggest winners from 2022 Senior Bowl week

Highlighting the NFL draft prospects who made themselves money at the 2022 Senior Bowl.

Another Senior Bowl is officially in the books, and just like every other installment, this year’s week of festivities saw a handful of NFL draft prospects send their stock in the right direction with impressive performances.

Here are my picks for the biggest winners from the 2022 Senior Bowl:

Looking at the 10 players the #Philadelphia #Eagles should be most excited to watch in 2022 #SeniorBowl after a strong week of practice #TheDraftStartsInMOBILE

The draft starts in Mobile, Alabama and Saturday will officially start the process with kickoff from the 2022 Reese’s Senior Bowl at Hancock Whitney Stadium, on the campus of South Alabama.

The game will kick off at 2:30 p.m. ET and will air live on NFL Network.

The Eagles hold a good amount of draft capital with three first-round picks and the week saw all of the key personnel and staffers make the trip to Alabama to scout some of the top seniors and draft-eligible players.

Philadelphia has several positions of need and 10 players with key skillsets stood out the most.

12 Senior Bowl players who stood out as potential Lions draft picks during the week of practices

12 Senior Bowl players who stood out during practices as potential Detroit Lions draft picks in the 2022 NFL draft

The week of Senior Bowl practices wrapped on Thursday, capping off three days of hard-fought competition on the campus of the University of South Alabama. The Detroit Lions had their entire staff in Mobile to check out 130 prospects who are trying to prove they belong in the NFL.

Who were the biggest standouts from a wet week of practices? Which players here look like good fits for the Lions? Here are 12 who stood out from a Detroit eye.

Not all of the players came from the American roster, which the Lions are coaching here. A few are from the National team, which is being coached by the New York Jets.

6 potential draft targets for the Dolphins at the 2022 Senior Bowl

We may see these guys in Dolphins uniforms.

The 2021 NFL season is almost finished with just two teams waiting to match up in the Super Bowl. This weekend, not only will fans be treated with the NFL’s Pro Bowl, but they’ll also get to see Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama where some of this year’s top prospects will compete.

While the Miami Dolphins don’t have a head coach yet, their front office has been paying close attention to the practices this week and will surely be watching the game closely.

These six participants could end up being Dolphins by the time the draft rolls around in April.

Senior Bowl Day 2 Review: Rep review as Wyatt, Johnson continue to rise

On a rainy day in Mobile, several players shined despite the lack of sun. Here’s a collection of intriguing reps for several intriguing prospects on @DiabeticTyler’s radar.

Day 1 at the Senior Bowl practices brought some interesting names to the top of the heap.:

How about Day 2? Well good new for Dallas Cowboys fans as two quarterbacks stood head and shoulders above the rest. The bad news is, only one is likely to be gone before Dallas hits the clock at 24. Liberty’s Malik Willis had some impressive throws Wednesday and looked very much in control of the ball in some rainy weather in Mobile. The other QB who performed well was Western Kentucky’s Bailey Zappe, who is more of a mid-round developmental prospect. Outside of the signal callers, who saw their stock rise?

2022 Senior Bowl: 5 potential Chargers DL/EDGE who stood out from Day 2

Highlighting the guys in the trenches who might have sparked the interest of the Chargers on Day 2 of the Senior Bowl.

Day 2 of practices at the 2022 Reese’s Senior Bowl officially ended.

On a very cold and rainy day in Mobile, AL, there were a handful of NFL draft prospects who made themselves some money in the trenches.

Here are five players who stood out:

EDGE Boye Mafe, Minnesota

Explosiveness and length are two things that Brandon Staley covets at the edge defender position, which Mafe exemplified throughout his career for the Gophers and on the practice field on Wednesday. Mafe was nearly unblockable in one-on-ones and team, using his wingspan to lockout and power to push blockers into the backfield. He also showed great lateral agility and body flexibility to win.

DT Devonte Wyatt, Georgia

While his former teammate, Jordan Davis, drew most of the buzz, Wyatt was just as dominant for the Bulldogs. That carried over to Mobile, where his first-step quickness and hand usage caused problems for interior offensive linemen in one-on-ones. Wyatt’s play style reminds me of Kenny Clark when he came out of UCLA. If his ascend continues, Wyatt could find himself as a first-round pick when all is said and done.

DT Perrion Winfrey, Oklahoma

Winfrey was near the top of my defensive tackle rankings heading into the 2021 season, but his inconsistent play caused him to slip. But he’s looked like a completely rejuvenated player out here. Winfrey showed burst off the snap, foot speed, and quick hands to work into gaps and across offensive lineman’s face to produce multiple what-would-be sacks and tackles for loss.

EDGE Jermaine Johnson, Florida State

Johnson has been arguably the best player down here in Mobile, as he has won nearly every single rep. Johnson primarily flourished with his length and power to bully blockers into the backfield on Day 1. But on Wednesday, he included some finesse, including a spin move and side-scissors move. Seen as a fringe first-rounder, Johnson has shown to be worthy of a top-20 selection.

DT Travis Jones, UConn

Jones was mentioned as a winner on Day 1, but he built off that dominant performance on the second day. At his best in the run game where he remained strong at the point of attack, Jones continued to show plenty of promise as a pass rusher with a bull rush to force blockers off their spots. If he finishes the final two days with similar showings, it’s going to be hard for the Chargers not to take him with their second round pick.

Senior Bowl stock up report from first day of practice, sees Florida State’s Johnson shine

Tyler Browning (@DiabeticTyler) dives into day 1 of practice from the Senior Bowl in Mobile and looks at the top performers while providing rep highlights.

The Senior Bowl is a storied event of the NFL offseason. It serves as a landscape for NFL teams and draft media alike to come together to evaluate some of the top seniors in the nation. This year is a very interesting year and a number of options for the Dallas Cowboys are in attendance.

In 2020 the Dallas Cowboys took 3 players who were in attendance including: Neville Gallimore, Reggie Robinson II and Bradlee Anae. Last year we saw the Cowboys take Osa Odighizuwa and Chauncey Golston. Recent trends suggest the Cowboys highly value their time down in Mobile especially in the mid rounds. This is a big week, especially for the QBs; and all Cowboys fans need to be hoping they have a fantastic week to push more good player down the board to them…the bad news, it’s not off to a good start for that position group. Outside of QBs,  who saw their stock rise after day 1 of practice? Lets take a look.

Texans need to keep tabs on Florida State’s Jermaine Johnson at the Senior Bowl

If edge defender Jermaine Johnson pans out, then the Houston Texans could address something other than the defensive line in Round 1.

The mock drafts have the Houston Texans going in various directions in Round 1.

At No. 3 overall, some mock drafts have the Texans going with safety Kyle Hamilton. Others have the Texans picking Kayvon Thibodeaux if he is available at No. 3.

If the Texans find themselves in a scenario where they are picking a safety or addressing another need at No. 3 overall as they have missed out on the Thibodeaux or Aidan Hutchinson sweepstakes, they can still find a valuable edge rusher later in the draft.

According to Gavino Borquez from the Draft Wire, Florida State’s Jermaine Johnson had a good day in his first practice at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala. on Feb. 1.

Johnson was arguably the best player on the field on Tuesday. With a combination of power, his tentacle-like arms, physicality, and an array of pass rush moves, he consistently lived in the backfield. The former Florida State product raised eyebrows with a spin move on Kentucky’s Darian Kinnard in the early stages of one-on-ones, and they both got the spotlight at the end of practice where Johnson put Kinnard on the turf before losing the next two. If stays hot the rest of the week, Johnson could see himself taken in the first round.

If Johnson is able to provide a decent pass rush as a rookie, the Texans could pair him with Jonathan Greenard, who is going into his third season. Greenard led the Texans with 8.0 sacks. Houston’s real bread and butter defensively was in the takeaway department where they tied for 10th-most with 25. Throw in a playmaking safety on the backend and a solid pass rush, and maybe the takeaway total increases along with a few more sacks.

The Senior Bowl is the preliminary event in the “underwear Olympics” of the predraft season. So far, Johnson is on his way to gold.
