Former Georgia Bulldogs and Washington Huskies quarterback Jacob Eason may be in for a larger role this season with the Indianapolis Colts. Eason is starting with the first-team offense following Carson Wentz’s foot injury.

Wentz, who is looking to avoid surgery, is resting and rehabbing his foot at the moment. The Colts received Carson Wentz in a blockbuster trade from the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason. The Indianapolis Colts started Philip Rivers last season, but he retired following their playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Carson Wentz was projected to start for the Colts. Now, the Colts are looking to find a suitable replacement if his rehab does not go well.

Jacob Eason has experience as a starting quarterback in college with Georgia in 2016 and with Washington in 2019. Eason has a powerful arm, but sometimes makes questionable decisions. He does not have much NFL experience.

Eason has the talent to start in the NFL. Will he be ready if Carson Wentz is out?

Fortunately for the Colts, Eason will have much of training camp and the preseason to prepare and get reps. Brett Hundley, Sam Ehlinger and Jalen Morton are Indianapolis’s other options at quarterback. Hundley has the most NFL experience.

Update: Carson Wentz elected to undergo foot surgery, which is expected to sideline him through anywhere between Indianapolis’s regular season opener and Oct. 25 (week seven of NFL season).

Former UGA QB Jacob Eason top-10 in Madden 21 throw power rating

Former Georgia football QB Jacob Eason makes the top-10 in Madden 21 QB throw power rating.

Electronic Arts has released their player ratings for Madden NFL 21, stirring up the pot in the NFL social media world.

Former Georgia quarterback Jacob Eason, who was drafted in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts, made it into the top-10 for quarterback throw power.

Eason made it to the No. 7 spot, behind some legendary Super Bowl champions and league MVPs.  Accompanying Eason on the list is another former Dawgs quarterback Matthew Stafford, who got the No. 3 spot.

Eason has always been known for his big arm, one of the biggest upsides to his game.  His near game winning touchdown pass against Tennessee in 2016 proved to Bulldog fans and football fans across the country that this kid can throw the ball.

WATCH:

Many were surprised by a lot of Maddens’ lists, with two rookie quarterbacks in the top-10 for throw power.  Eason is currently listed as the No. 3 quarterback on the Colts’ roster behind Philip Rivers and Jacoby Brissett.

Every quarterback drafted before Georgia’s Jake Fromm

Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Jake Fromm was selected 167th in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. What seven QBs went before him?

Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Jake Fromm was selected 167th (fifth round) in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. Fromm fell further than expected in the NFL Draft due to his subpar junior season and concerns over his physical talent.

Fromm is a proven winner who had Georgia in the College Football Playoff conversation in three straight seasons. Turnover at the wide receiver position disrupted his junior season in Athens. His lack of arm strength hurt him big-time. Now, he’s anticipated to back-up

So who are all the quarterbacks taken before Georgia’s Jake Fromm? Here’s the entire list:

Former Georgia QB Jacob Eason drafted by Indianapolis Colts

Former Georgia football QB Jacob Eason was taken by the Indianapolis Colts in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Congratulations to former Georgia quarterback Jacob Eason, who was taken #122 overall by the Indianapolis Colts in the fourth round of the NFL Draft.

Eason, the former number one overall player in the class of 2016, started his true freshman year at Georgia and did a fine job.

He lost the starting job his sophomore year to Jake Fromm. Eason stuck around during the 2017 season and provided nothing but support to Fromm and his teammates amid a national championship run.

After the 2017 season, Eason transferred to Washington. He sat out the 2018 season but started in 2019, throwing for 3,132 yards, 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

In Indianapolis, Eason will have an opportunity to sit behind NFL veteran Phillip Rivers, who joined the Colts this offseason after a long career with the Chargers.

At 6-foot-6 231 pounds, and with an absolute cannon of an arm, Eason has all the tools to be a successful NFL quarterback.
