5 Philadelphia Eagles who are underrated entering the 2020 NFL Season

5 Philadelphia Eagles who are underrated entering the 2020 NFL Season

The Philadelphia Eagles enter the 2020 NFL season with a solid team that has postseason potential and room for more if some big-name stars are able to remain healthy.

The Eagles are stacked at several positions but there are several key players that enter this upcoming season criminally underrated.

Here’s five Philadelphia Eagles that are underrated entering the 2020 NFL season.

Dallas Goedert

TE Dallas Goedert

Ertz is the big dawg in terms of name recognition and status, but it’s Goedert who helps make the engine go via pass-catching and run blocking. Goedert is a top-ten tight end and we’ll have every right to demand significant compensation when his turn arises. At times last season, Goedert had earned an 81.4 PFF grade that ranked seventh at the position despite not being a deep threat. On targets of less than 10 yards downfield, Goedert was PFF’s third-highest-graded tight end, and he was second in yards after the catch per reception at 8.6. Combine that with his run blocking prowess and Howie Roseman has a decision to make.

7 Eagles starters who need to step up during the 2020 NFL season

7 Eagles starters who need to step up during the 2020 NFL season

The 2020 NFL Season will be a historic one for many reasons and with the Eagles looking to make the playoffs for the fourth straight season, several big names will need to rise to the occasion.

With the Eagles set to be in salary cap hell, here are seven Philadelphia starters who need to step during the 2020 season to ensure the greatest success.

Derek Barnett

Barnett had his fifth-year option picked up by the Eagles after a 2019 season that saw him rack up unnecessary penalties while appearing in 14 games and recording 6.5 sacks, 30 total tackles, 10 tackles-for-loss, 22 quarterback hits, and two forced fumbles.

Barnett, who has missed 12 games over the past two seasons, has 14 career sacks in his brief career, far below the expectations for the former first-round pick.

Jim Schwartz and the Eagles will need the versatile defensive end to finally live up to his enormous potential.

Instant analysis of the Eagles picking Jack Driscoll in round-4

Instant analysis of the Eagles picking Jack Driscoll in round-4

The Philadelphia Eagles added some depth to the offensive line when they selected former Auburn offensive guard Jack Driscoll at the end of round-four.

An athletic and versatile player, Driscoll is a developmental prospect who’ll likely need a year or so to fill out his frame.

Here are three takeaways from the Eagles adding Driscoll.

1. Driscoll has been consistent

A durable, consistent performer, Driscoll has 40 consecutive starts under his belt at Auburn and played more than one position.

Michigan OL Cesar Ruiz on the Philadelphia Eagles radar?

The Philadelphia Eagles have the top offensive line in the NFL and a huge reason for that success is solid drafting, with accrued depth.

With the Eagles losing Halapoulivaati Vaitai to the Detroit Lions in free agency and Jason Peters still on the open market, the Birds could look to restock the offensive line.

A player of interest for Howie Roseman and the Eagles appears to be Camden, New Jersey native and Michigan center, Cesar Ruiz.

Ruiz has been linked to the Eagles for months now and 6ABC’s Jeff Skversky is reporting that the interest is real.

The number one rated center in the draft, Ruiz can play multiple positions and could be looked at as the eventual replacement for All-Pro center, Jason Kelce.

Kelce has made it known that he’s playing on a year to year basis after battling injuries the past few seasons.

Ruiz could also serve as a significant upgrade to left guard Isaac Seumalo, who is viewed by many as the weak link on the Eagles offensive line.

Ruiz told Jeff Skversky that his mother would be very happy if he became a member of the Eagles, because of the short distance to Camden.

At Michigan last season, Ruiz earned second-team all-Big-10 honors and started all 13 games for the Wolverines. Ruiz started 31 games at all five positions for the Wolverines and his versatility could only enhance the Eagles depth on the offensive front.

4 positions for the Eagles that don’t need much attention in 2020

The Philadelphia Eagles are set to make sweeping changes to their roster, but they can be confident in what they have in certain positions.

The Eagles will likely overhaul things at wide receiver and cornerback, but there are several key positions that will only require minor changes or some subtle additions.

Here are four positions for the Eagles that don’t need much attention during the 2020 offseason.

1. Quarterback

Carson Wentz is coming off arguably his best and most complete season as a pro. Wentz started all, 16 regular-season games, became the franchise’s first 4,000-yard passer and led the Eagles to another division title.

Nate Sudfeld didn’t play this season, but he’s still a capable quarterback and will probably be better served to return to the Eagles rather than seeking a starting spot in free agency.

Eagles clear cap space for 2020 by restructuring contract of 2 starters

Brandon Graham restructures contract to free up cap space for Eagles

The Eagles are in the hunt for a playoff spot, but that doesn’t mean that general manager and cap guru, Howie Roseman isn’t behind the scenes working his magic.

According to Field Yates of ESPN.com, the Eagles freed up cap space on the final day allowed, by reworking the contracts of Brandon Graham and Isaac Seumalo.

According to Over the Cap, Graham earned a base salary of $1 million in 2019, with a $2.5 million signing bonus and $3.5 million of his salary counting against the cap.

During free agency, Graham signed a three-year contract extension with the Eagles worth $40 million with $27 million in guaranteed money.

Seumalo recently signed a three-year contract extension worth an estimated $15.9 million in 2019 to keep him with the Eagles through 2022.

Eagles ever-improving LG Isaac Seumalo named to PFF’s NFL Week 15 Team of the Week

Isaac Seumalo named to PFF’s NFL Week 15 Team of the Week

Isaac Seumalo has come a long from that Week 2 thrashing he suffered at the hands of Grady Jarrett and the Atlanta Falcons.

The least known member of the Eagles starting five on the offensive line, Seumalo has worked and improved and the determination is paying off. Seumalo was solid in the Eagles win over the Redskins and has gotten better every week.

In Week 15, Seumalo got the ultimate honor, grading out so well that he was named to Pro Football Focus’s NFL Team of the Week.

LG ISAAC SEUMALO, PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
The much-maligned left guard has actually been very solid over the second half of the season. The image of him getting worked over for eight pressures against the Falcons in Week 2 can be difficult to get out of your mind, but from Week 6 on, Seumalo has been the ninth-highest-graded guard in the NFL.

Emerging middle linebacker and undrafted rookie, T.J. Edwards also made the team for his special team’s contributions on Sunday.
