Last season, the Big Ten was stacked with talent at the forward and center positions, and the Wisconsin Badgers were no exception with the trio of Tyler Wahl, Micah Potter and Nate Reuvers. In fact, Reuvers made the top 15 in blocks per game in the Big Ten last season. Although the Lakeville, Minn. native struggled with consistency throughout last year, he provided valuable length for Wisconsin against some of the best big men in the country in the Big Ten.

As we continue to look back at the Big Ten’s accomplishments of last season, the conference featured some of the country’s premier scorers including Indiana forward Trayce Jackson-Davis, Illinois guard Ayo Dosunmu and Iowa center Luka Garza.

Although no Badgers were able to crack the top 10 in points per game, Wisconsin guard D’Mitrik Trice did make it into the top 15. Despite Trice not always being the most consistent scorer for Wisconsin last season, his 3-point range and clutch scoring runs were oftentimes the only offense for the Badgers down the stretch. Not surprisingly, Trice led the Badgers in both points and assists last season.

As the 2020-21 men’s basketball season is nearing its end, we begin to look back at the Big Ten Conference and the great individual performances from this season.

Despite a senior season that had its fair share of difficulties, Wisconsin guard D’Mitrik Trice was able to make the top 10 among very impressive players such as Illinois guard Ayo Dosunmu, Michigan guard Mike Smith and Iowa guard Jodan Bohannon. These players have been the most dominant at their position this season, and it is no surprise to see them leading the Big Ten in such an important category that shows their ability to create plays for their team in addition to their electric scoring.

It will be interesting to see how the Badgers will attempt to replace the playmaking ability of D’Mtrik Trice at the point guard position going into next year, especially with the entrance of backup point guard Trevor Anderson into the transfer portal.

Below are the top 10 leaders in assists from the Big Ten Conference 2020-21 season. Players from Wisconsin, Iowa, Penn State, Northwestern, Michigan, Ohio State and Minnesota have all made the list.

How to watch Wisconsin basketball vs. North Carolina

After a disappointing end to the Big Ten Tournament against the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Wisconsin Badgers will get a fresh start against the North Carolina Tar Heels in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday night.

Wisconsin will look to its two leading scorers, D’Mitrik Trice and Micah Potter, against the Tar Heels. Trice and Potter have been the go-to players for points, and Wisconsin will need both to have outstanding performances for the Badgers to advance past North Carolina to the round of 32. Although Potter and Trice played well in the matchup against the Hawkeyes, it will be important for them to be facilitators for the rest of the offense, which struggled to score in that game.

Despite both the Badgers’ and Tar Heels’ inconsistencies this season, the NCAA Tournament is a fresh start for both teams. The winner will face either the Baylor Bears or the Hartford Hawks in the second round.

After winning their opening game of the Big Ten Tournament against the Penn State Nittany Lions, the Wisconsin Badgers will advance to day three of the tournament to face the No. 5 Iowa Hawkeyes for the third time this season.

The Badgers were finally able to get it going from the 3-point line against the Nittany Lions converting over 52% of their shots from deep. Forward Aleem Ford led this outstanding shooting performance with 17 points, with 15 of them coming from the 3-point line. Ford finished the night shooting 5-6 from deep and 6-7 overall.

Despite the phenomenal play of Wisconsin throughout most of the game that allowed them to build an 18-point lead in the second half, the Badgers nearly blew yet another lead late in the game by letting Penn State close within one. Wisconsin will need to be better defensively against the talented offense of Iowa on Friday night.

The Badgers will be playing the Hawkeyes for not only a chance of redemption after their heartbreaking loss on Sunday but for a spot in the Big Ten Tournament Semi-Final against the winner of the Rutgers and Illinois matchup.

After a hard-fought victory in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament over Nebraska 72-66, the Penn State Nittany Lions will face the Wisconsin Badgers in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday night. The winner of this game will move to day three of the tournament, where they will match up against the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Wisconsin will look towards senior forward Micah Potter to provide the spark for the Badgers offense, after tying his season-high in scoring against the Hawkeyes on Sunday. Potter finished with an outstanding performance of 23 points off of the bench against Iowa, and he has been playing his best basketball of the season since he has started to come off the bench. His height will also provide a key mismatch against the Nittany Lions, who are one of the smaller teams in the Big Ten.

Although Penn State and Wisconsin split their regular-season series, the Badgers were able to dominate the Nittany Lions in their last matchup. Nonetheless, it should be another great game to watch as action in the Big Ten Tournament is starting to heat up.

For the second consecutive week, the Wisconsin Badgers have remained on the outside looking in the latest Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. After falling to both Purdue and Iowa in the last week, the Badgers only received two votes compared to 43 in the previous poll.

Wisconsin struggled shooting the ball against the Boilermakers, finishing at 40.4% overall and only 24.1% from the 3-point line. Fortunately, the Badgers were able to correct this issue against the Hawkeyes and nearly came back to upset one of the top 10 teams in the country. Despite how well they played against Iowa, the Badgers still lost both of these games ending the regular season on a three-game losing streak.

Several Big Ten teams have moved up in the latest Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll, including Illinois that moved up to No. 3 after their victory against Ohio State. Iowa and Purdue both moved up as well to No. 6 and No. 19, while Michigan has fallen to No. 4 after being upset by Michigan State. Ohio State has remained at its position from last week of No. 10.

The top 10 teams for this week are Gonzaga(1), Baylor(2), Illinois(3), Michigan(4), Alabama(5), Iowa(6), Houston(7), Arkansas(8), West Virginia(9) and Ohio State(10).

Wisconsin will face off next against the winner of the Penn State vs. Nebraska game on Thursday. The game will begin 25 minutes after the conclusion of the Indiana vs. Rutgers matchup that tips off at 5:30 p.m. CST.

On Sunday morning, the No. 25 Wisconsin Badgers will face off against the No. 5 Iowa Hawkeyes on the road in Iowa City, Iowa for their regular-season finale. The Badgers will be trying to avoid a season sweep after falling to the Hawkeyes 77-62 at the Kohl Center last month.

Although guard Brad Davison has been inconsistent throughout this season, his 15-points led the Badgers in a poor shooting performance against the  Purdue Boilermakers earlier this week. Wisconsin will need an efficient night from Davison, as well as their other 3-point threats in D’Mitrik Trice and Aleem Ford, to keep pace against the Hawkeyes’ high-powered offense that finished with an outstanding 63.2% from deep in the last matchup between them.

A win against the Hawkeyes will not only be crucial for the Badgers to avoid the season sweep but would prevent them from losing three-straight games for the first time this season. An upset against a Top-5 opponent would also be a huge momentum boost for Wisconsin heading into the Big Ten Tournament next week.

Ohio State basketball vs. Iowa: How to watch and listen to the game Sunday

Ohio State hosts the Hawkeyes trying to reclaim its winning ways as the regular season winds down. Here’s how to find the game.

After dropping two games in a row, the Ohio State basketball team finds itself in a precarious predicament. The Buckeyes have been hanging on to a No. 4 ranking and expected No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, but that is nowhere near being a sure thing at this point.

OSU played well enough to win both of its losses to Michigan and Michigan State but ultimately couldn’t close out either game allowing both opponents to take leads late in the game. I’ll give a pass against the No. 3 Wolverines, but against unraked Sparty, there was a lack of defensive focus and poor offensive positions in the final minutes.

The road certainly doesn’t get any easier as Ohio State plays host to No. 9 Iowa in a rematch from earlier in the month. The Bucks took care of the Hawkeyes in Iowa City with some sharp shooting and a well-executed game plan against center, Luka Garza.

With only two games left before the Big Ten tournament, this one seems like a game OSU needs to win to get momentum on its side again.

After yet another split week where they lost to the Iowa Hawkeyes but beat the Northwestern Wildcats, the Wisconsin Badgers have fallen three spots to No. 24 in the latest Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

The Badgers could not stop the high-powered Hawkeyes’ offense, which was able to cruise by Wisconsin with 30 points from center Luka Garza. Fortunately, the Badgers were able to figure things out against the Northwestern Wildcats on Sunday, where they had five players finish with double-digits in scoring. Wisconsin will need this scoring when they face the now-No. 4 ranked Illinois Fighting Illini on Saturday.

There has been some movement at the top of the Big Ten and the latest Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll by several teams. Following Ohio State‘s loss to the Michigan Wolverines, the Buckeyes have fallen to No. 5, while Illinois has moved into their previous spot of No. 4. Michigan has remained at No. 3, while Iowa has moved up two spots to No. 12 after their convincing victory against the Badgers.

The top 10 teams in the latest poll are Gonzaga(1), Baylor(2), Michigan(3), Illinois(4), Ohio State(5), Villanova(6), Alabama(7), Oklahoma(8), Florida State(9) and Houston(10).

The Badgers will face off against the No. 4 Illinois Fighting Illini at the Kohl Center on Saturday at 1 p.m. CST.
