Former Wisconsin G Brad Davison has perfect response to Minnesota fan blog’s criticism

Former Wisconsin guard Brad Davison is in his second season of professional basketball in LEB Oro, Spain’s second-division league.

While he’s halfway across the world, the former Badger is still active enough on X to fight back against critics of the Wisconsin basketball program and his play in college.

IT’S BRACKET MADNESS: Enter USA TODAY’s NCAA tournament bracket contest for a chance at $1 million prize.

We saw a terrific example Wednesday afternoon when a member of a Minnesota Golden Gopher fan blog posted the following on X:

“It’s the 2 year anniversary of Brad Davison playing his last college game. Cheers to all that celebrate! The Big 10 is a much safer league without him in it.”

To which the long-time Badger had the perfect response:

Davison was hated by rival Big Ten fans during his time at Wisconsin, which is a testament to his quality as a player.

It also must be noted the Badgers have finished the season ahead of the Golden Gophers for each of the last 26 years. All that while making Minneapolis and its surrounding suburbs a hub of recruiting.

Wisconsin fans enjoyed Davison’s response to the ‘celebration’ on Wednesday afternoon.

WATCH: Wisconsin basketball welcomes back Brad Davison

Brad Davison returns to the Kohl Center

Wisconsin’s final non-conference matchup ended with a win over Chicago State and a salute to a Badger basketball alum. The Badgers welcomed back Brad Davison to the Kohl Center, who gave Wisconsin everything he had over his five-year playing career.

His Badger time ended after 2021-22, a season where he scored a career-best 14.1 points per game and grabbed over four rebounds per contest.

He received quite the ovation from the Badger crowd upon his return, as the Badger faithful welcomed back a player who was always a fan favorite. Check out Davison’s return to the Kohl Center as part of Wisconsin’s final win before Big Ten play resumes at home against Iowa next week:

Badgers in contact with class of 2025 guard from Texas

The Wisconsin men’s basketball staff has been in contact with Caleb Steger, a 6-foot-4 class of 2025 guard from Dallas, Texas.

The Wisconsin men’s basketball staff has been in contact with Caleb Steger, a 6-foot-4 class of 2025 guard from Dallas, Texas. The sophomore at Jesuit College Preparatory School has just started receiving interest from college programs, so the Badgers are potentially ahead of the curve.

Steger averaged 14.3 points and 4.7 rebounds over 24 games this past season, earning himself an offer from TCU in February, his only Division 1 offer to this point.

With Wisconsin already interested, they’ll have an opportunity to get him on campus for an official visit in the coming months if they want to pursue him as an option for the class of 2025. In recent years, the Wisconsin program under Greg Gard has churned out backcourt stars like Johnny Davis and Brad Davison.

Wisconsin’s defense too much for Iowa, Badgers win 64-52 on Wednesday

The Badgers took on the Iowa Hawkeyes on Wednesday night at the Kohl Center, defeating their Big Ten opponent 64-52 in the matchup.

The Badgers took on the Iowa Hawkeyes on Wednesday night at the Kohl Center, defeating their Big Ten opponent 64-52 in the matchup.

In what was a much-needed victory for Wisconsin, he top thing that sticks out in the contest was the putrid shooting for the Hawkeyes, finishing the game 20-for-62 from the field (32.3%) and an abysmal 3-for-28 from long-range. Considering Iowa hadn’t scored under 60 points since December, the Badgers defense showed up when needed most Wednesday.

For Wisconsin, Tyler Wahl (11 points) reached double-digit points for the first time in four games while he also reeled in a career-high 14 rebounds. Additionally, Chucky Hepburn (12 points) and Connor Essegian (17 points) returned to form versus the Hawkeyes after the two guards combined for just eight points in Saturday’s loss to Rutgers.

Essegian in particular made multiple three-pointers (2-for-7), matching Brad Davison’s freshman record of 60 made threes in a season. He still has three more games to break it, which is all but a guarantee.

With the Badgers currently on the bracket bubble, the win of Iowa has massive tournament implications. If Greg Gard’s squad can continue to take care of business down the stretch, Wisconsin should be in March Madness in a few weeks.

For Wisconsin, the win raises their season record to 16-11 overall and 8-9 in the Big Ten. They’ll travel to face Michigan (15-12) on the road on Sunday.

On the other side, Iowa drops to 17-11 on the year and 9-8 in conference matchups. Their next contest will come Saturday at home versus Michigan State (17-10).

LOOK: Brad Davison has workout with Atlanta Hawks

The former Badger earns an NBA workout

Wisconsin guard Brad Davison is using the summer to prepare for a professional basketball career. Part of that journey took place late this week when the former Badger guard participated in a workout with the Atlanta Hawks.

Last season, Davison had a career year in Madison. The Minnesota native averaged 14.1 points per game while helping Wisconsin to their second Big Ten regular-season title over Davison’s Badger career.

Davison did not receive an invite to the NBA Draft Combine but will still likely have professional opportunities come his way. The former Badger posted about his workout on Twitter yesterday with the message that he is, “taking nothing for granted.”

All-American Drew Timme to attend pre-draft workout with Hawks

Timme, who was a consensus All-American, averaged 18.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 32 games.

Gonzaga junior Drew Timme will be among the draft prospects to work out with the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday, according to Kevin Chouinard of Hawks.com.
