Wisconsin basketball 2024 signee climbs high school scoring leaderboard

Jack Robison, a Wisconsin men’s basketball signee, moved up to third on Lakeville North Basketball’s all-time scoring list following his senior season.

The 247Sports three-star committed to the Badgers’ program on Nov. 11, 2023, after being recruited by head coach Greg Gard and assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft. The 6-foot-6 small forward visited UW five times from October 2021 to October 2023.

The Lakeville, Minnesota native also snagged offers from Minnesota, Nebraska, Northern Iowa and South Florida.

Robison’s high school is notorious for producing future Wisconsin men’s basketball players. Nate Reuvers, a member of the 2019 Big Ten title team, started over 100 games for Greg Gard. Fifth-year player Tyler Wahl and freshman big man Nolan Winter also donned the Panthers’ uniform before collegiate hoops.

Through March 15 of this past season, Robison averaged 21.9 points per game off 52.5% from the field. The future Badger could bolster Wisconsin’s wing next season alongside Max Klesmit and AJ Storr.

Four-star Wisconsin guard commits to Big Ten school

Nick Janowksi, a four-star class of 2024 guard from Pewaukee, Wisconsin committed to Nebraska on Friday.

Nick Janowksi, a four-star class of 2024 guard from Pewaukee, Wisconsin committed to Nebraska on Friday. The 6-foot-3, 200 pound athlete was offered by the Badgers but chose to go elsewhere for college. The three-time state champion will join Fred Hoiberg in Lincoln.

In what has been a consistent trend for Wisconsin basketball, the team looks likely to once again fall short of the hopes and dreams of fans who want them to get one of the top in-state recruits. The program has shifted to being more commonly associated with Minnesota players (Tyler Wahl, Steven Crowl, Nolan Winter) than those that are homegrown in the cheese state.

As of right now, the only commitment that Greg Gard and his staff have gotten from the class of 2024 is 6-foot-6 three-star forward Jack Robison from Lakeville, Minnesota, home of Tyler Wahl and Nate Reuvers.

Wisconsin Badgers 2022 NBA Summer League Recap

Five former Badgers showcased their talents in the NBA summer league; let’s see how they fared:

The University of Wisconsin has only two players signed to guaranteed NBA contracts entering the 2022 season, Frank Kaminsky and lottery pick Johnny Davis, who was the first player selected during the Greg Gard era.

However, this summer, former Badgers Vitto Brown, Nate Reuvers, Micah Potter, and Aleem Ford also had a chance to showcase their talents in front of NBA scouting personnel in Las Vegas.

Summer league offers a little something for everyone who partakes. For rookies, it’s their first chance to get a taste of the next level. For other young players, it’s an opportunity to show their growth from one year to the next. For journeymen that have scratched and clawed their way to be in Las Vegas, it’s a last-ditch effort to make the leap from overseas to the association.

With summer league wrapping up last week, BadgersWire examines how all five former Wisconsin Badgers standouts played in Las Vegas:

Former Badgers forward signs a two-year professional deal in Italy

This former Badgers forward is enjoying a successful professional career overseas:

Former Wisconsin Badgers forward Nate Reuvers wrapped up a successful rookie season overseas where he averaged 10.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game for Cibona en route to a Croatian League Championship.

Reuvers has since parlayed that success into a two-year deal with Italian club Pallacanestro Reggiana, who plays at the highest level of competition in all of Italy.

The Minnesota native is the University of Wisconsin’s all-time leader in blocked shots (184) and was a third-team All-Big Ten selection in 2019-20 when he averaged 13.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks – earning a share of the Big Ten regular-season title.

Last season, the Big Ten was stacked with talent at the forward and center positions, and the Wisconsin Badgers were no exception with the trio of Tyler Wahl, Micah Potter and Nate Reuvers. In fact, Reuvers made the top 15 in blocks per game in the Big Ten last season. Although the Lakeville, Minn. native struggled with consistency throughout last year, he provided valuable length for Wisconsin against some of the best big men in the country in the Big Ten.

Former Wisconsin big man Nate Reuvers has hired an agent and will pursue a professional basketball career, affording to his tweet from earlier today.

His decision to turn pro comes after initially entering the transfer portal on March 26.

Reuvers finishes his Wisconsin career as the program’s career leader in blocks and was an important piece in their 2020 Big Ten regular-season championship.

With him, D’Mitrik Trice, Aleem Ford, Micah Potter and Trevor Anderson all gone from the program, Wisconsin basketball has some work to do in the transfer portal before they take the court again in November.

Wisconsin F Nate Reuvers will transfer for his final year of eligibility

The Badger forward is in the portal

Wisconsin senior forward Nate Reuvers will be taking his free year of eligibility, he just won’t be spending it as a Badger.

The Wisconsin forward has entered the transfer portal, with the news first reported on Friday night by ESPN’s Jeff Borzello:

Reuvers struggled to find his rhythm in 2020-2021, averaging 8.3 points per game compared to over 13 points per game as a junior. The Minnesota native has one year of eligibility left.

The Badger forward signals towards moving on

While there has yet to be any official statement from Wisconsin on whether or not forward Nate Reuvers will return to the Badgers next season, the senior did make an Instagram post yesterday that sounded like a goodbye.

Reuvers mentioned he is “excited for the next step” in his journey:

Brad Davison’s career night propels Wisconsin past North Carolina in the round of 64

The Wisconsin Badgers beat the North Carolina Tar Heels 85-62 tonight thanks to a career night from Brad Davison and a stellar all-around

Wisconsin entered their NCAA Tournament first-round matchup with the North Carolina Tar Heels with the opposite of positive momentum.

The team had lost four of its last five, nine of its last 14 and were struggling due in large part to inefficient nights behind the arc. Plus, if any more of a reason for doubt was needed, the program’s record in Mackey Arena—Purdue’s home stadium and location for the game—stood at a whopping 4-42.

Tonight, all of the negatives suddenly became positives as the Badgers beat the Tar Heels 85-62 thanks to a 48-percent shooting performance from three, 51-percent shooting performance from the floor and a stellar all-around defensive effort.

North Carolina’s strengths entering the contest were exactly what the Badgers struggled with—a big, athletic team who makes their mark on the offensive glass. But Wisconsin stood tough, out-rebounding the Tar Heels 37-34, recording five steals and blocking eight Tar Heel shot attempts.

The specific positives were plentiful, with Greg Gard perfectly setting his team up for success thanks to new rotations that saw Micah Potter and Nate Reuvers play at the same time, D’Mitrik Trice continuing to lead the team on the offensive end, Tyler Wahl continuing his stellar defensive efforts, Jonathan Davis scoring at will and, obviously, Brad Davison putting up 29 points on 10/15 shooting and 5/7 from three.

Davison, for the first time in a while, was shooting the ball with confidence, bailing out bad offensive possessions with deep threes and providing a spark plug to a Badger offense that struggled with inconsistency much of the season. His performance tonight, on the stage he did it on, should be put up there with the best of his Wisconsin career.

Wisconsin will now prepare for a round of 32 matchup with 1-seed Baylor, one of the nation’s top teams and another group that will present real challenges to the Badgers’ style of play.

But for now, it’s time to appreciate Wisconsin’s winning effort tonight. The win was the program’s first in the NCAA Tournament since 2017 and provided a glimpse of what Badger fans saw during the 2019-2020 run to the top of the Big Ten.
