Wisconsin basketball receives no votes in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

Wisconsin basketball receives no votes in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll:

The Wisconsin Badgers have struggled, dropping six of their seven games over the last few weeks. This includes three-straight losses last week to Northwestern, Maryland and Illinois that caused Wisconsin to lose all 17 of its remaining votes in the latest USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.

Elsewhere around the Big Ten, Illinois and Indiana, both jumped back into the poll at No. 25 and No. 22, while Purdue retained its throne as the No.1-ranked team in the county. The Hoosiers and Fighting Illini have gone undefeated over the past week and have emerged atop the Big Ten below the Boilermakers.

The USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll top 10 for this week includes Texas(9), UCLA(9), Kansas(8), Arizona(7), Kansas State(6), Alabama(5), Virginia(4), Houston(3), Tennessee(2) and Purdue(1).

The Badgers will have an opportunity to get back on track this week with a matchup on Thursday against an Ohio State squad that has lost back-to-back games.

Wisconsin vs. Illinois: Stream, injury report, broadcast info for Saturday

How to watch the Wisconsin Badgers at home against the Illinois Fighting Illini on Saturday afternoon:

The Wisconsin Badgers play the Illinois Fighting Illini on Saturday night, and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

The Badgers are hoping to have starting guard Max Klesmit return for this matchup, since he has missed the last two games recovering from a hit to the face suffered against Penn State. Wisconsin has struggled to defend in the two matchups in his absence and fell in both games on their road trip.

Even though Klesmit’s return will be important for the Badgers, they will need to see more out of their bench that has only scored a combined 13 points in their losses to Northwestern and Maryland. Their depth has been a huge weaknesses throughout this season, but with the probable return of Klesmit, Jordan Davis will likely come off of the bench to help create some offense in Wisconsin’s second unit.

Hopefully the Badgers can get things back on track at the Kohl Center against Illinois, and avenge their 79-69 loss to the Fighting Illini earlier in the season.

PHOTOS: Wisconsin falls to Illinois 79-69 on the road

Photos from Wisconsin basketball’s 79-69 road loss to the Illinois Fighting Illini:

The Wisconsin Badgers were not able to get it done on the road against the No. 24-ranked Illinois Fighting Illini in a 79-69 loss. The Badgers were without their leading scorer, Tyler Wahl, and forward Carter Gilmore started in his place.

Wisconsin had two players finish with over 20 points in forward Steven Crowl(20) and point guard Chucky Hepburn(22); however, the rest of the team only combined for 27 points. The Fighting Illini got hot from deep in the second half and converted 52.6 % of their three-pointers on the day. This proved too much for Wisconsin, and Illinois was able to build a comfortable lead to put away the game.

The Badgers will hopefully get Wahl back soon since they have games next week against Michigan State on Tuesday and Indiana on Saturday.

How to watch Wisconsin basketball against the No. 24-ranked Illinois Fighting Illini:

The Wisconsin Badgers play the Illinois Fighting Illini on Saturday afternoon, and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

The Badgers are heading on the road to face off against a reeling Illinois Fighting Illini squad, who are coming off a 73-60 upset loss to Northwestern. However, Wisconsin may be missing their leading scorer, Tyler Wahl, after he injured his ankle in the first half against Minnesota on Tuesday night. Wahl has also missed the Badgers’ Thursday practice.

Luckily, Wisconsin can rely on forward Steven Crowl since he has emerged as a consistent playmaker for the Badgers. He has even been their leading scorer over the last three games averaging 19 points per game.

Despite the question marks around the availability of Wahl, it should be a great game to watch as the Badgers will try to knock off another ranked Big Ten team.

What No. 2 Texas is facing against No. 17 Illinois on Tuesday

Watch for these players when Texas takes on Illinois on Tuesday, 6 p.m. CT on ESPN.

Texas will face its first test away from the Moody Center on Tuesday. The Longhorns (6-0) travel to Madison Square Garden to compete with the No. 17 Illinois Fighting Illini (6-2).

Chris Beard’s team is still battle tested after securing Top 10 wins over the Gonzaga Bulldogs and Creighton Bluejays. Nevertheless the Illinois game will be a different challenge altogether.

Aside from the neutral site test, Texas will have the unenviable task of stopping Terrence Shannon. Chris Beard’s former Texas Tech player is averaging over 19 points per game on the season.

Baylor transfer Matthew Mayer is another familiar face on the Illini. The defensive pest is struggling this season on the offensive end, but could give the Longhorns trouble with suffocating defense.

Illinois would be the cherry on top of a No. 1 seed caliber nonconference resume for Texas, but the Longhorns’ opponent will have other plans.

Here’s a look at Illinois’ starting five.

How to watch, listen and stream Wisconsin basketball against No. 18 Illinois:

On Wednesday night, the No. 11 Wisconsin Badgers will head on the road to face off against the No. 18 Illinois Fighting Illini to battle for first place in the Big Ten.

Wisconsin will need a stand-out performance from guard Jonathan Davis, who leads the team in points, rebounds and assists. A look at the Big Ten basketball scoring leaders in 2020-21

As we continue to look back at the Big Ten’s accomplishments of last season, the conference featured some of the country’s premier scorers including Indiana forward Trayce Jackson-Davis, Illinois guard Ayo Dosunmu and Iowa center Luka Garza.

Although no Badgers were able to crack the top 10 in points per game, Wisconsin guard D’Mitrik Trice did make it into the top 15. Despite Trice not always being the most consistent scorer for Wisconsin last season, his 3-point range and clutch scoring runs were oftentimes the only offense for the Badgers down the stretch. Not surprisingly, Trice led the Badgers in both points and assists last season.

Below is the ranking of the top 15 players in points per game from the Big Ten Conference 2020-21 season. Players from Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Michigan State, Ohio State, Purdue, Nebraska, Penn State and Maryland have all made the list:
