Chiefs DT Chris Jones comments on the impending return of Charles Omenihu

Kansas City #Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones comments on the impending return of Charles Omenihu | @EdEastonJr

The injury rehab process for Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Charles Omenihu is moving along well, so much so that he could be returning sooner rather than later.

Chiefs All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones provided an update on the status of Omenihu during Thursday’s press conference.

“He’s been all in on it, staying late, working out for three or four hours a day,” said Jones. “Just his commitment, him and Tiffany (Morton) doing whatever it takes to make sure Charles gets back and can excel when he steps on the field again.”

Omenihu keeps everyone updated on his rehab through his YouTube channel and often teases his return on social media. Jones shared his opinion on what the veteran defensive lineman will bring to the lineup.

“Add more versatility, not only to our room but to our defense,” said Jones. “We got a guy who can play end but also can bump down and play three-technique. And a guy who missed what? Four to six games last year still had seven or eight sacks. So you know, we can have more sacks, have more versatility to this defense.”

Omenihu finished the 2023 season with seven sacks after missing the first six games due to suspension.

Twitter reacts to Kadarius Toney’s expletive-ridden rant about injury status

Twitter users were quick to make their voices heard about #Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney’s expletive-ridden rant about his injury status on Sunday.

Kadarius Toney won’t be participating in the Kansas City Chiefs’ matchup against the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, but he gave fans plenty to talk about with an expletive-ridden post he made on social media before kickoff.

Toney, who welcomed a child into the world on Saturday, took to Instagram Live to tell fans that the Chiefs are lying about his injury status.

Check out his profane rant below, but be warned: the graphic nature of his language isn’t suitable for all audiences.

At this juncture, it is hard to tell whether Toney’s assertions are being made in good faith, or if he is merely frustrated by his status as a no-go for Sunday’s game. The Chiefs could be punished by the NFL if they are lying about their injury report but the team made it clear that Toney’s status for the game was impacted by a “personal” matter, ostensibly the birth of his child.

Fans on Twitter were quick to respond to Toney’s accusation against his team and had a variety of responses to the bizarre situation.

Check out their top reactions below:

Nick Saban gives crucial injury update on Brian Robinson jr.

Nick Saban gave an update today on Brian Robinson jr.’s injury today. Check out what he said!

Alabama football’s starting running back Brian Robinson’s status was classified as day-to-day by Nick Saban today, in a press conference ahead of the showdown against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.

Robinson suffered a rib injury late in the game against Florida on Saturday.

Before the injury, Robinson picked up 75 yards on 14 attempts, averaging 5.4 yards per carry. He added a touchdown run to bring his season tally to two.

“Got banged up a little bit in the end,” Saban said, “Bruised his ribs or something. I think he will be OK.”

In the game against Florida, Robinson and Jase McClellan were the only two backs receiving carries. This could mean we see more of Trey Sanders against Southern Miss this Saturday if Robinson can’t go.

Robinson has been the premiere back this season in what is essentially a running back-by-committee up to this point this year. He’s gained 208 yards on 37 carries to go along with the aforementioned two TDs on the year.

The Wisconsin football program is now just one day away from beginning spring practice.

The period is set to be a significant one after the program, as well as programs across the country, saw last year’s spring get canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Head Coach Paul Chryst met with the media today and discussed the new faces on the coaching staff, what the current COVID-19 protocols are like, the injury status of a few key players and how great it is to be getting back on the football field.

Here is everything Chryst said during today’s press conference:

Kirby Smart provides rehab update on Georgia football WR Dominick Blaylock

Kirby Smart provided a rehab update on Georgia football WR Dominick Blaylock while spring practices are cancelled due to coronavirus.

With no spring practices as a result of COVID-19, we have very little information regarding the health of a few key players.

Thankfully, Kirby Smart filled everyone in during a teleconference with UGA reporters on Tuesday.

During the call, Smart mentioned that had there been spring practices this year, multiple Bulldogs would have been forced to sit out due to pre-existing injuries.

One player that Georgia fans have been wondering about is rising sophomore wide receiver Dominick Blaylock, who suffered a torn ACL in the first quarter of the SEC Championship loss vs LSU.

Smart touched on his rehab, and other players’, on Tuesday:

“The great thing about rehab is you can do it anywhere,” Smart said. “Ron (Georgia’s sports medicine director) has them set up. They can come in and do check-ins with Ron. If they choose to be here in town they can do their rehab locally here and have access to everything.”

Given the severity of his injury, nobody expected Blaylock, a former five-star receiver out of Marietta, to be able to train with the team this spring. The hope remains that he will be ready to go for fall camp in August.

Smart also mentioned backup quarterback D’Wan Mathis, who is still in the process of coming back after undergoing surgery to remove a cyst on his brain last May.

“Dom and D’wan they do exactly what you ask them to do, and they know it helps the future of their careers to be rehabbing,” Smart said. “And they’re committed to doing that. And the good thing is the NCAA has allowed us to help those guys.”

According to DawgNation, Mathis chose to stay in Athens during this time so he could remain close to the trainers and football facility.

However, if he did return home to Michigan, Smart said that that would have worked as well.

“The good thing is Ron knows so many people across the country every one of these kids he can reach out to somebody and have a whole network of people where they can get their rehab done,” Smart said.
