Georgia Tech hires Georgia offensive analyst Buster Faulkner

UGA offensive analyst Buster Faulkner will serve as the offensive coordinator for Georgia Tech

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and new head coach Brent Key have found their offensive coordinator. Georgia Tech reportedly plucked away Buster Faulkner of Georgia’s staff to be their offensive coordinator.

Who is Buster Faulkner? Faulkner has previously served as the offensive coordinator at Middle Tennessee, Arkansas State, and most recently Southern Mississippi.

Faulkner, who is from Lilburn, Georgia, attended college at Valdosta State. Faulkner has served as an offensive analyst at Georgia for the past three seasons.

The Bulldogs have had a very innovative offense in recent seasons under Todd Monken. Faulkner was a key contributor on Georgia’s offensive staff and helped Stetson Bennett be named as a Heisman finalist.

Buster Faulkner has been serving a role where he helps offensive coordinator Todd Monken communicate to Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett.

Kirby Smart has had an excellent coaching staff for the 2022 college football season. Faulkner appears to be the first departure, however, he may still coach in the College Football Playoff. Faulkner is already hitting the recruiting trail for Georgia Tech.

Last offseason, Georgia lost defensive coordinator Dan Lanning to Oregon.

Twitter reacts: Georgia Tech fires head coach Geoff Collins

Georgia Tech fired head coach Geoff Collins. UGA football outscored Tech 107-7 in Collins’ two career games against Georgia.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have fired head coach Geoff Collins. Collins went 10-28 during four seasons as the head coach at Georgia Tech.

Collins notably changed Georgia Tech’s offensive system from the triple option to a more traditional scheme. Georgia Tech was outscored 107-7 in Collins’ two career games against in-state rival Georgia.

Collins and Georgia Tech did not enter the 2022 college football season with much momentum. The Yellow Jackets lost six straight games to end the 2021 college football season and were outscored 100-0 in their final two games.

The final straw came when Georgia Tech lost 27-10 at UCF on Sept. 24. Geoff Collins inherited a tough situation and Georgia Tech and had a positive mindset, but it was not enough to overcome the numerous obstacles he faced.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Collins’ firing:

Georgia basketball freshman transfers to Tech

Georgia Bulldogs freshman basketball player Rodney Howard is electing to transfer to rival Georgia Tech

Georgia Bulldogs freshman basketball player Rodney Howard is electing to transfer to rival Georgia Tech. Howard, a center, will provide the Yellow Jackets with some size on the interior. He’s anticipated to have to sit out for one season. Howard played in 24 games as a freshman.

Under head basketball coach Tom Crean, Howard averaged 7.3 minutes per game. He averaged 1.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.3 fouls in his limited playing time. He was a potential building block for the future and a nice piece of UGA’s great 2019 basketball recruiting class.

Howard announced his plans to transfer to Georgia Tech via Twitter:

How initially considered attending Georgia Tech when he made his decision to commit to the University of Georgia. Georgia Tech went 17-14 during the 2019-2020 season, where they were ineligible for post-season play. The Yellow Jackets finished fifth in the ACC, but they fell to Anthony Edwards and the Georgia Bulldogs in non-conference play.

Howard played at Legacy Charter High School in Greenville, South Carolina. He was a three-star center prospect in the class of 2019.

From the beginning of the 2010 to 2019, the Georgia Bulldogs posted over a .500 winning percentage against each of their rival programs.

We’ve reached the end of college football’s 2019 regular season. From the beginning of the 2010 regulation schedule to the culmination of the current year’s, the Georgia Bulldogs posted a .500 or better winning percentage against each of their rival programs.

The Dawgs won eight and lost two against in-state rival Georgia Tech, earning the past three Governor’s Cups in a row.

They went 8-3 vs. Auburn, including a victory in the 2017 SEC Championship Game, winning the past three meetings consecutively.

They posted a record of six wins and four losses vs. Florida, also winning three meetings in a row.

The Bulldogs went 8-2 in matchups against Tennessee, again with three successive wins.

Georgia’s worst rivalry record of the decade comes against South Carolina. The Bulldogs split 10 games against the Gamecocks, accumulating five wins and five losses.
