Georgia DB Lovasea Carroll transfers within SEC

Georgia DB Lovasea Carrol is headed to South Carolina…

Georgia freshman defensive back Lovasea Carroll, who entered the transfer portal following the Bulldogs’ national title win, has made his transfer decision.

Carroll is headed to join former UGA coach Shane Beamer at South Carolina.

Carroll was a four-star running back recruit in the 2021 class. Coach Kirby Smart and the Dawgs staff switched Carrol to defensive back and he saw action in three games this season, including against UAB, when he recorded three tackles and a pass breakup in a blowout win.

Two other Bulldog transfers chose new homes this week.

Receiver Jermaine Burton is headed to Alabama and defensive back Latavious Brini is going to Arkansas.

Georgia interception leads to quick Zamir White touchdown

Derion Kendrick has his first pick as a Dawg and Zeus has hist first TD of the game. Dawgs are rolling.

Georgia couldn’t have asked for a better start to the second half versus South Carolina.

Transfer cornerback Derion Kendrick nabbed his first interception of his UGA career and then star running back Zamir White had a 15 yard run , followed by a five yard rush into the endzone to put the Dawgs up 33-6 early in the third quarter.

Georgia is moving the ball at will right now and the Gamecocks don’t have an answer. South Carolina starting quarterback Zeb Noland left with a hand injury early in the first half and Luke Doty has had to step in without much practice.

Watch: AD Mitchell catches first career TD, puts Georgia up 21-6 over South Carolina

Watch freshman AD Micthell catch the first touchdown of his career.

Georgia’s offense is full of big plays tonight versus South Carolina in Athens.

Quarterback J.T. Daniels already tossed a 43 yard touchdown to Jermaine Burton and just followed it up with a 38 yard bomb to freshman receiver Adonai Mitchell

That’s Mitchell’s first career touchdown catch and certainly will not be his last.

Daniels and the Bulldogs are rolling right now after a few hiccups early in the second quarter. Stetson Bennett made an appearance under center and threw an interception. Daniels has seemingly steadied the ship and moving the ball at will and is 5 of 6 on third down so far.

Watch: JT Daniels shows he’s back with a TD bomb to Jermaine Burton

JT Daniels is dealing against South Carolina right now…

No. 2 Georgia has taken an early 14-3 lead over South Carolina in Athens.

First it was a 23 yard touchdown by junior running back James Cook on the Bulldogs first possession and next, a 43 yard touchdown pass from quarterback J.T. Daniels to wideout Jermaine Burton.

That’s two scores on two possessions and I know it’s only mid-way through the first quarter, but Daniels is back and looks to be just fine coming off a core injury that caused him to miss last week against UAB.

Georgia injury report ahead of UGA vs South Carolina

Georgia is once again dealing with multiple injuries ahead of kickoff. Here’s an updated injury report for Saturday night’s matchup vs. South Carolina.

UGA takes on South Carolina this Saturday night in the SEC opener.

It hasn’t all been peaches and cream for No. 2 Georgia. The injury bug has bitten the Bulldogs early and often so far this season.

This week Georgia lost reserve inside linebacker Rian Davis to a knee injury suffered in practice. Davis underwent successful surgery and is expected to be out for the year.

Star quarterback J.T. Daniels is still nursing a core injury that could keep him sidelined for a second game. Coach Kirby Smart did say on Wednesday that Daniels feels the best he has and his recovery is moving in the right direction.

Daniels did split first-team reps with backup Stetson Bennett in practice this week. Knowing Smart, we won’t find out who will start under center until Saturday.

On the outside, star receiver Dominick Blaylock is close to taking the field after working his way back from an ACL tear suffered last year. Smart said Blaylock is almost 100% but it’s a ‘confidence thing’ for the redshirt sophomore.

Kearis Jackson, the leading pass catcher a year ago, only returned punts against Clemson and UAB but should be back to catching passes soon. We could see both Blaylock and Jackson back versus South Carolina.

Fellow wideout George Pickens is rehabbing an ACL tear suffered in the spring, and LSU transfer Arik Gilbert is still not with the team due to personal reasons.

Tight end Darnell Washington and defensive back Tykee Smith are both out of their walking boots this week after undergoing foot surgeries a month ago. Smart said both have performed weighted running, indicating a return to the field sometime in the coming weeks.

What South Carolina media is saying about Georgia

Georgia takes on South Carolina in the SEC opener on Saturday night. Here’s what the Gamecocks’ media is saying about the Bulldogs.

No. 2 Georgia meets South Carolina in Athens on Saturday night in the SEC opener. UGA is coming off a 56-7 thrashing of UAB and the Gamecocks come to town after a 20-17 win over East Carolina.

Here’s what South Carolina’s media is saying about Georgia.

5 reasons why Georgia beats South Carolina

UGA takes on South Carolina Saturday night in Athens. Here’s 5 reasons why Georgia walks away with the win.

Georgia is set to take on South Carolina this Saturday night. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. for the SEC opener, which will be the first night game in Sanford Stadium since 2019.

The Gamecocks come to Athens in rebuilding mode. Former Georgia assistant Shane Beamer is at the helm, replacing new Georgia special teams coordinator Will Muschamp in Columbia.

South Carolina is led by graduate assistant quarterback Zeb Noland as former starter Luke Doty is recovering from an injury suffered in fall camp. The Gamecocks are coming off of a 20-17 win over East Carolina in week-two.

On the other side, Georgia is dealing with its own quarterback injury problems. Star J.T. Daniels missed last week with a core injury and Stetson Bennett, who stepped in and played great in Daniels place versus UAB, is dealing with a minor back injury.

Coach Kirby Smart was optimistic about both Daniels and Bennett’s status in his weekly press conference on Tuesday, but we probably won’t know who will lead the Bulldogs until Saturday.

Even with the offensive questions, Georgia’s defense is good enough to make up the slack.

Here’s five reasons why UGA beats the Gamecocks this weekend.
