Georgia football tickets vs TAMU: Stats and info on price trend

Stats and info on the price trend for Georgia football tickets vs Texas A&M.

Georgia vs Texas A&M this Saturday will mark the first time the two two programs have met since the Aggies joined the SEC in 2012.

And with this being No. 4 Georgia’s final home game of the season, ticket prices are not coming cheap. However, they are cheaper now than if you were to buy them just a few days ago.

This weekend’s game is averaging $317 per ticket on the secondary market and the get-in price is currently $88, down $50 earlier this week, according to TicketIQ. The average price has gone down 21% over the course of the week.

Also, with Georgia having secured a spot in the SEC Championship Game, tickets for the conference title game have skyrocketed.

Tickets for the 2019 SEC Championship are the most expensive of any conference championship, by a lot. Currently, the average asking price for a ticket to the game on the secondary market is $1,285, up from $820 last year, and the highest it’s been this decade. The next priciest game was the 2017 Georgia-Auburn game, which settled at a $945 average asking price. The cheapest ticket in the 71,00-seat stadium is trending at $343. The next most expensive 2019 conference championship is the Big 10 Championship,  starting at $92.

The Bulldogs have a real shot at making another visit to the College Football Playoff, and with Georgia’s success comes an increase in ticket prices. Playoff tickets are up over the last two weeks, as you can see below.

Capsized cargo ship catches the eye at RSM Classic

Back in September, the Golden Ray, carrying 4,200 vehicles, listed and tumbled before capsizing off the Georgia coast.

[jwplayer m1K82kAd-9JtFt04J]

At first glance, you’re not quite sure what it is.

Then you start to wonder if it’s supposed to be there.

What exactly is that off the Georgia coast?

Viewers of the PGA Tour’s RSM Classic most certainly want to know.

RSM Classic: Scores | Photos | Tee times, TV info

Well, it’s a capsized cargo ship, a 656-foot-long behemoth named the Golden Ray.

Back in September, the ship, reportedly carrying 4,200 vehicles, listed and tumbled in St. Simons Sound shortly after leaving Brunswick, Georgia, and bound for Baltimore, before capsizing.

Twenty people were quickly rescued. Four others were pulled off the ship a day later. The ship is owned by Hyundai Glovis, based in South Korea.

During the week, the talk up and down the practice range was this remarkable sight. Golfers in the field for the RSM Classic took picture after picture of the ship and asked members of the media what they knew about it.

“That is the second most popular question I’ve been asked after ‘Can I get a parking pass?'” said Davis Love III, who shot a 2 under 68 to open his tournament week.

Removal could take more than a year

When the event is played again in 2020, the ship is likely to still be there.

The Brunswick News reported on Thursday that the Coast Guard said it’s likely to take more than a year to remove the ship, which is slowly sinking in the sand. In fact, a quarter of the ship is in sand more than 20-feet deep. That means it cannot be turned upright without breaking apart.

Crews have removed more than 317,000 gallons of oil from the ship, in an effort to stem the environmental damage. Still on board: those 4,200 passenger cars.

The cause of the capsize is still under investigation.

“It’s disappointing when I come down the 18th hole with the Commissioner of the PGA Tour, the CEO of RSM, one of his guests, and (rock star) Darius Rucker and it’s the prettiest day of the year and you see a barge with port-o-lets on it and a sunken ship in the background,” Love said.

And, for the curious, it’s been confirmed that the ship is too far out to hit with a golf ball.

Texas A&M at Georgia odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Texas A&M Aggies at Georgia Bulldogs betting odds and lines, with college football analysis, picks and best bets.

Prediction

Georgia 31, Texas A&M 14

Moneyline (ML)

Georgia (-556) looks to keep hope alive for a spot in the College Football Playoff, but it has no room for error. While the Bulldogs will win this game, risking more than five times the potential winnings is just not worth it. A&M (+395) isn’t going to pull the upset, so save the money.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Georgia to win would return a profit of $1.80.

Against the Spread (ATS)

GEORGIA (-13.5, -110) is an attractive play at less than two touchdowns. Even at a flat 14 the Dawgs aren’t a bad play if the line moves up by Saturday.

Texas A&M (+13.5, -110) has a decent passing attack, and they are 11-5 ATS in the past 16 against winning teams. However, UGA is 14-5 ATS in the past 19 against winning teams and 20-8 ATS in the past 28 SEC battles. Look for UGA to keep it rolling.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS. The projected total of 45.5 is going to be super close. If I were to lean one way, I’d say Under (-139). The Under is 5-0 in UGA’s past five overall, and 26-9-2 in the past 37 in Athens. The Under is also 5-1 in A&M’s past six on the road. However, with big-time QBs like Jake Fromm, Kellen Mond and Swift, it could easily go Over, too.

Justin Fields’ mother, high school coach come clean on decommitment from Penn State

When Justin Fields first exploded on to the scene, he committed to Penn State. Six months later, he changed his mind. What happened? His mother and coach weighed in.

Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields has come a very long way in two calendar years. In his second collegiate season at his second school, Fields is an outside Heisman Trophy candidate. Two years ago he was wrapping up his career as a high school phenom at Harrison High School (Kennesaw, Ga.).

Fields first committed to Penn State. The Nittany Lions were one of the first prominent Power 5 programs to chase Fields following a breakout 10th grade campaign, and he felt a bond with then-Penn State offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead. Despite the geographic distance from Georgia to Happy Valley, Penn State felt like a fit.

So what happened to convince Fields to head instead to Athens, Ga.? The Cleveland Plain Dealer connected with Fields’ mother and his high school coach, Matt Dickmann, to get to the bottom of his decision.

The first major driver of his decision? Concern about Moorhead’s longterm future.

[lawrence-auto-related count=2 category=26178588]

“His offensive mind for me was like, OK, you can excel under this coaching” Fields’ mother Gina Tovey told the Plain Dealer. “But we knew how good he was, and we read that he was a target for a head coaching job. As much as he said, ‘No, no, I’m not going to do it, we were like, I think it’s coming sooner rather than later, and then we don’t know what what we have.

“So that was one of the deciding factors as far as decommitting goes.”

The other major factor? A sudden tsunami of interest from the nation’s other major programs. In the end he picked Georgia, the SEC power next door, though his inability (or Georgia coach Kirby Smart’s unwillingness) to unseat Bulldogs quarterback Jake Fromm precipitated Fields’ offseason transfer to Ohio State.

That has in turn brought him full circle, to an Ohio State-Penn State where he’s suddenly lining up on an opposite sideline than he expected.

“I think coach Franklin’s a good coach, and I had a great relationship with coach Moorhead,” Fields told the media after a 56-21 victory at Rutgers. “I know a good amount of the (players), so just have having those relationships. I still talked to a few of them. They’re all great guys over there.”

7:11 ET —
What did Oklahoma do to tick off the committee I do have to ask.  The Sooners got a huge win, coming from behind to beat a previously unbeaten Baylor team, a win more impressive than any that is on the resume of Utah, Oregon, Penn State, Alabama, Georgia, Clemson or Ohio State.  Yet the loss at K-State is what is keeping them down?  Man alive, no love for the Big XII this year and I can’t say I agree with it.

7:14 ET –
Alabama stays at No. 5 and they deserve to.  I hate the idea this week that has been tossed around that if Tua is out that they’re not worthy of being a playoff team.  You can argue they don’t deserve a chance and I would, because they lost a home game to LSU and the Tigers should have to potentially beat Alabama another time to win it all.  But if they were number five a week ago and they won easily, they don’t deserve to fall, even if their star quarterback is out.  Those arguing the contrary, tell me how that worked out for Ohio State back in 2014.

Photographer knocked out during Georgia-Aurburn is okay, shares photo she got just before hit

Chamberlain Smith reported shes okay.

There was a frightening scene at Saturday’s Georgia game against Auburn involving photographer Chamberlain Smith, who was knocked unconscious after Bulldogs running back Brian Herrien accidentally rammed into her after he ran out of bounds.

Smith was taken from the field in a stretcher and brought to a hospital. But she sent a Twitter update a day later to inform everyone that although the incident was “very scary,” she ended up with “nothing more than a concussion and some bruises.”

On Tuesday, she decided to share the photo she snapped with her camera right before the collision, and it’s a good one!

Also, it’s worth mentioning Herrien has been a complete class act about the incident:

AP Poll: Notre Dame Back in Top 15

What it all means is that if Notre Dame wins out they’ll have a realistic chance at finishing the regular season in the top-10

The latest AP Poll is out after Week 12 concluded and Notre Dame moved up in that one as well, just like the Amway Coaches Poll Powered by USA Today, earlier today.

The latest poll is as follows:

Here is the new top 25:

1) LSU

2) Ohio State

3) Clemson

4) Georgia

5) Alabama

6) Oregon

7) Utah

8) Oklahoma

9) Penn State

10) Florida

11) Minnesota

12) Michigan

13) Baylor

14) Wisconsin

15) Notre Dame

16) Auburn

17) Cincinnati

18) Memphis

19) Iowa

20) Boise State

21) SMU

22) Oklahoma State

23) Appalachian State

24) Texas A&M

25) Virginia Tech

Others receiving votes:

Indiana 47, Iowa State 31, Virginia 23, Navy 13, Air Force 12, Pittsburgh 9, San Diego State 7, USC 6, Washington 6, Texas 4, Illinois 1

How high can Notre Dame get by the end of the year? It’ll need help to be in the top-10 but here are a few things to take note of:

Wisconsin and Minnesota still have to play in two weeks, while Baylor has a great chance of meeting Oklahoma in the Big XII Championship which would mean a pair of guaranteed loses ahead of Notre Dame.

It’s also worth noting Penn State and Michigan both have to play Ohio State where the Buckeyes will be favored against both, meaning two more very possible losses for teams Notre Dame is within shouting distance off.

Finally Oregon and Utah meeting in the PAC-12 Championship will mean one more guaranteed loss by one of them.

What it all means is that if Notre Dame wins out they’ll have a realistic chance at finishing the regular season in the top-10 and in turn, have an actual chance at a Cotton or Orange Bowl appearance.

Stay tuned as the Irish continue their quest for a ten-win regular season and possibly a NY-6 bowl as they welcome Boston College to South Bend on Saturday.

Watch: Kirby Smart, Georgia dance in locker room after clinching SEC East

Georgia football HC Kirby Smart and his players danced in the locker room after beating Auburn and clinching a spot in the SEC Championship.

It was a hard fought game on Saturday night on the Plains, as the Georgia Bulldogs came to town and took down rival Auburn.

It was physicality vs physicality on the field. Two schools who despise one another were going at it all night, wearing each other down with their pesky defenses.

In the end, it was Georgia who prevailed and secured a spot in the SEC Championship for the third time in a row.

Players like Jake Fromm, D’Andre Swift, Andrew Thomas, Richard LeCounte, etc. can all say they have played at Georgia for three years and have a 100% success rate when it comes to winning the SEC East.

That’s a reason to celebrate. And Kirby Smart, who has now won the East in three of his four years at his alma mater, did not hold back.

I love this team.
