Georgia football returns a DEEP wide receivers room for the 2024 college football season
The Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver room is faced with the task of replacing Ladd McConkey and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint. Including Brock Bowers, Georgia lost three of its four leading receivers from the 2023 college football season.
Georgia’s wide receiver group is still expected to be among the best in the country. The Bulldogs return a deep core of wide receivers and added a trio of talented transfers in Vanderbilt’s London Humphreys, USC’s Michael Jackson III, and Miami’s Colbie Young.
We foresee Georgia’s offense continuing to spread the ball around with star quarterback Carson Beck. Last season, 10 Georgia players recorded over 10 receptions and we’d expect a similar number of players to do so in 2024.
How do we project the Georgia wide receiver depth chart to rank ahead of spring practice? The Bulldogs begin spring practice on March 12.
What does the Georgia football wide receiver room look like for 2023?
Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Ladd McConkey is returning to Athens for another season. McConkey, a redshirt sophomore, was the only Georgia wide receiver to finish with over 350 receiving yards in 2022. Three of Georgia’s four leading receivers were tight ends or running backs.
McConkey caught 58 passes for 762 yards and seven touchdowns in 2022. McConkey’s two-point conversion against Ohio State is a big reason why Georgia was able to repeat as national champions.
Ladd McConkey suffered a knee injury against LSU in the SEC championship, but battled through the injury in the College Football Playoff.

Ladd McConkey’s return gives Georgia more experience in the wide receiver room for the 2023 college football season. McConkey’s familiarity with Todd Monken’s offensive system is invaluable.
Georgia added Mississippi State receiver Rara Thomas and Missouri receiver Dominic Lovett via the portal earlier this offseason. The Georgia wide receiver room is likely losing veteran receiver Dominick Blaylock, who recently entered the transfer portal. Senior receiver Kearis Jackson entered the 2023 NFL draft.
Georgia relies more heavily on tight ends than most other college football programs. Georgia returns leading receiver Brock Bowers for 2023.
Additionally, the Bulldogs are expected to return Arian Smith, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, Dillon Bell, and more at the wide receiver position. Adonai Mitchell could declare for the NFL draft because he played his senior year of high school in 2019.
Georgia is loaded at the wide receiver position this year, and that’s even with superstar George Pickens sidelined for the foreseeable future with a torn ACL.
The addition of LSU tight end Arik Gilbert, who will be playing wide receiver for the Bulldogs in 2021, really pushed UGA over the hump as the 6-foot-5, 250 pounder is coming off a sensational freshman year with the Tigers.
That’s why Pro Football Focus says Georgia has the nation’s No. 3 ranked wide receiver duo.
Who is the second player to pair with Gilbert, you may ask? well, as PFF says….pick one.
If wide receiver George Pickens hadn’t torn his ACL this past spring, then the Bulldogs would be 1b to Ohio State for best receiving unit in college football. While they will be without Pickens for the 2021 season, they still have a bevy of talented options to choose from alongside Gilbert. The top candidate to be that No. 2 option is Dominick Blaylock, who has had his career interrupted by multiple serious injuries. Blaylock is recovering from his second torn ACL within eight months but is on the path to being healthy in 2021.
Georgia also returns Kearis Jackson, who looked like he was on track to break out early on in 2020, but his production failed to sustain. He went from a 90.2 receiving grade and 4.69 yards per route run through the first three contests to a 61.3 receiving grade and 1.30 yards per route run in his next seven games. He’s one of several high-ceiling, low-floor players on this team.
And don’t sleep on Arian Smith making a big impact this fall. Smith is a two-sport, world-class track star for his school. He’s going to be a dangerous deep threat one day.
No. 1 was Ohio State with Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson and Clemson at No. 2 with Justyn Ross and Joe Ngata.
Two Georgia Bulldogs were named SEC Players of the Week following a win over Mississippi State: QB JT Daniels and WR Jermaine Burton.
The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs 31-24 thanks to several key performances. Quarterback JT Daniels had a career day in the victory. Daniels was money on third down and showed incredible accuracy on deep passes.
The SEC named JT Daniels as the SEC Offensive Player of the Week. He’s sharing the award with Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver DeVonta Smith, who set a conference record for receiving touchdowns in a career against Kentucky.
JT Daniels threw for 401 yards and four touchdowns in the win over Mississippi State. It was an impressive debut performance and he’ll start again this week against South Carolina.
Daniels completed almost half of his passing yardage to wide receiver Jermaine Burton, who hauled in two touchdown passes. Burton’s 197 receiving yards helped him win the SEC Freshman of the Week award.
Burton consistently found openings in the secondary and had the best game of his young career. Burton has been open much of the season, but the ball hasn’t found him often enough. JT Daniels and Burton have nice chemistry and all of a sudden Georgia’s passing offense looks quite formidable.
Now, Georgia must work to put together a more complete game this weekend against a South Carolina team without fired head coach Will Muschamp and several key players.
The Georgia Bulldogs will be without talented wide receiver George Pickens today at Kentucky.
The Georgia Bulldogs will be without talented wide receiver George Pickens today at Kentucky. Pickens is Georgia’s No. 1 wide receiver and is a key piece in Georgia’s passing offense.
Pickens is injured and did not make the trip to Lexington, Kentucky. He’ll be missed, especially in the red zone. Kirby Smart and Georgia will look for players like Jermaine Burton, Demetris Robertson, and Kearis Jackson to step up in his place.
The Kentucky Wildcats have a good secondary, so this game could be closer than some of the experts think. Stetson Bennett and the Georgia Bulldog offense will have to look elsewhere for explosive plays in the passing game.

Marcus Rosemy, Jermaine Burton, and speedster Arian Smith are Georgia’s receiving gems from the talented class of 2020. Kirby Smart focused heavily on receivers in the class of 2020 and it paid off. They’ll look to sure up UGA’s receiver issues that plagued them throughout last season.
Rosemy should see immediate playing time next season and could be Georgia’s No. 2 wide receiver behind George Pickens. He has the capability to catch heavily contested jump balls.
This stat about Georgia WR George Pickens will get you excited about the UGA football offense in 2020.
According to Pro Football Focus (PFF) Georgia wide receiver George Pickens is the only returning receiver with 75 plus targets and zero drops in all of college football.
Pickens was a freshman phenom for the Bulldogs last year. In a run dominant offense, he caught 49 passes for 727 yards and 8 touchdowns, which earned him Coaches’ Freshman All-SEC Team honors.
A former 5-star recruit from Hoover, Alabama, in the 2019 recruiting class, Pickens was originally committed to the Auburn Tigers until flipping to the Bulldogs on signing day. He was tabbed as the No. 4 receiver in the country and the No. 1 player in Alabama, which helped make the 2019 Georgia class the No. 1 class in the country for the second year in a row.
Complete list of returning players with 75+ targets and 0 drops last season:
The sky is the limit for Pickens in 2020. Georgia made two huge off-season moves for the Bulldogs’ passing game with the singing of Wake Forest transfer quarterback Jamie Newman, who is known for a great deep ball and the hiring of offensive coordinator Todd Monken, known for his air-raid passing attack.
DawgNation should be excited for what is to come for this young offense. Injuries and drops plagued the Georgia receiving group in 2019, but Pickens should have some more help around him in 2020. Sophomore receiver Dominick Blaylock looks to return from an ACL tear and Kirby Smart and staff added four 4-star receivers in this year’s No. 1 ranked recruiting class. Not to mention 5-star 2020 TE signee Darnell Washington (6-8, 261).
Georgia football receivers George Pickens and Dominick Blaylock are due for a big 2020 college football season.
George Pickens and Dominick Blaylock signed with Georgia as five-star receivers in the class of 2019.
Georgia was able to flip Pickens from Auburn on signing day, while Blaylock was all-dawg from the start. Blaylock committed to Georgia in July of 2017 and then signed in December of 2018.
Georgia fans had high expectations for both of them, and both lived up to the hype.
Pro Football Focus spotlighted how the two finished the season with zero drops. See the tweet below.
Pickens was a superstar his freshman season, catching 49 passes for 727 yards and 8 touchdowns. He’s considered one of the top returning receivers in college football for the 2020 season.
Blaylock hauled in 18 catches for 310 yards and 5 touchdowns. He suffered a torn ACL against LSU in the SEC Championship Game.
