Nobody ranks Georgia lower than former Florida coach Dan Mullen

We promise former Florida head coach Dan Mullen ranks Georgia lower than anybody else

Former Florida Gators head coach and ESPN college football expert Dan Mullen ranks the Georgia Bulldogs lower than any other analyst. Mullen has Georgia as the No. 8 team in the bizarre rankings he released after Week 9. Perhaps Mullen is trying

Mullen does rank Georgia as the top one-loss team in the nation, but come on. You can’t just rank teams based on their records. Georgia has won games against Clemson and Texas, which are a better pair of wins than any of the seven teams ranked ahead of Georgia have.

Mullen then ranks Notre Dame No. 9 as his second-best one loss team. Maybe he forgot that that Notre Dame lost at home to Northern Illinois. Teams like Texas and Ohio State should be ranked over Notre Dame.

Mullen’s rankings differ greatly from the US LBM Coaches Poll, where Georgia is ranked No. 2. The one thing Mullen did not do is rank Florida in his top 25 ahead of their game on Saturday against Georgia.

Dan Mullen’s full top 10 college football rankings

  1. Oregon Ducks
  2. Penn State Nittany Lions
  3. Miami Hurricanes
  4. Indiana Hoosiers
  5. Iowa State Cyclones
  6. Pittsburgh Panthers
  7. BYU Cougars
  8. Georgia Bulldogs
  9. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
  10. Texas A&M Aggies

Mullen announced his full top 25 rankings via Instagram. We aren’t sure what is up with these rankings, but we think Mullen is trying to draw attention to the nation’s undefeated teams.

Georgia-Florida game moving out of Jacksonville

The Georgia versus Florida rivalry has a new home

(This story was updated because an earlier version included an inaccuracy.)

The Georgia-Florida rivalry is moving to Atlanta, Georgia, in 2026 and Tampa, Florida, in 2027. The rivalry is moving out of Jacksonville for two years due to stadium renovations.

The news does not come as a shock because Jacksonville’s stadium renovations have been scheduled for several years.

The 2026 edition of Georgia-Florida will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The 2027 game will be played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, per Brett McMurphy.

“It’s been talked about and debated for a long time,” said Georgia head coach Kirby Smart on the future venues of the Georgia-Florida game. “For a while, since we’ve known the Jacksonville renovation was going to occur. I think the parties involved did a great job of managing it.”

The last time Georgia and Florida played each other outside of Jacksonville was 1994-1995.

“I think Jacksonville did a great job stepping up and making it worthwhile for both universities,” Smart said. “I’m excited about the opportunity to play at two different locations, so that’ll be unique. Maybe we learn from those two experiences.”

Georgia is scheduled to play Georgia Tech in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2025, so the Bulldogs will play at least one game in Mercedes-Benz each year between 2016 and 2026 (except 2020) as long as things go according to plan.

Georgia is slated to play Florida at 3:30 p.m. ET on Nov. 2. The game will be televised on ABC. Georgia has won six of the last seven games in series history.

Social media savors Georgia’s dominant win over Florida

The Georgia Bulldogs are 8-0 after dismantling Florida, 43-20, in Jacksonville, Florida. Georgia scored 36 straight points on the Gators after allowing Florida to score an opening-drive touchdown.

Georgia put together its second elite performance of the season. The Bulldogs also looked like the nation’s No. 1 team when Georgia defeated Kentucky, 51-13.

Georgia quarterback Carson Beck threw for two touchdown passes and 315 yards in his return to Jacksonville. Beck and the Georgia offense capitalized on a few short fields and helped Georgia jump to a 26-7 lead at halftime.

Georgia added 17 points in the second half. Standout wide receiver Ladd McConkey finished with his best game of the season for Georgia.

SEC announces Week 9 college football TV schedule

Georgia and Florida play at the usual time on Oct. 28. What other SEC games will be played in Week 9?

The Southeastern Conference has set the TV schedule for Week 9. On Oct. 28, the SEC will have five games due to bye weeks.

The Georgia-Florida game, which kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET, will be televised on CBS. Georgia (7-0) and Florida (5-2) both have bye weeks before the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party in Jacksonville, Florida.

LSU and Alabama have bye weeks in Week 9 ahead of their Nov. 4 matchup. Arkansas and Missouri both have bye weeks on the Oct. 28 weekend. Missouri plays at Georgia on Nov. 4 after its bye week.

Week 9 features South Carolina at Texas A&M, Mississippi State at Auburn, Tennessee at Kentucky and Vanderbilt at Ole Miss.

Georgia looks to move to 8-0 against Florida. The Bulldogs will have to do it without star tight end Brock Bowers.

Florida HC Bill Napier talks Georgia-Florida staying in Jacksonville

“…This is beneficial for both sides in the equation.”

The future of the annual Georgia-Florida game, infamously referred to as ‘The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party’, has been a hot topic as of late with the news of the two universities’ agreement to keep the matchup in Jacksonville through 2025.

The programs were under contract through the 2023 season before accepting the option to keep the game in the city another two seasons.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has been vocal about his wish for the series to move to a home-and-home format.

“When it comes down to it, there’s a very, very basic element of everything comes back to, number one money and number two, recruiting and getting good players,” Smart said in October. “I firmly believe that we’ll be able to sign better players by having it as a home-and-home because we’ll have more opportunities to get them to campus.”

Smart says a change to the historic format depends on getting a Florida coach to ‘agree with him’.

Second-year Gators head coach Bill Napier gave his stance on the series on Tuesday at SEC spring meetings.

“We’re excited that the game is going to be in Jacksonville — with the announcement this week — three more years. You know, the reality is this is beneficial for both sides in the equation. It’s good for the city of Jacksonville as well,” Napier said. “I think there’s some economics that directly affect this decision, right? Ultimately, that’s what it comes down to. There’s advantages to being able to play a home-and-home. There’s also advantages to playing the game in Jacksonville. I think if we go forward, you know, we’ve got three more years of the current dynamic. We’re going to focus on that.”

It should be noted that the rivalry will look differently, at least in the 2025 and 2026 seasons, due to renovations to Jacksonville’s TIAA Bank Field that will begin in 2025 and last two years at a minimum, according to Jacksonville mayor Lenny Curry.

“The goal would be to play somewhere in Jacksonville,” Curry said. “Those discussions are happening, but two years is the goal. … I do know that they are considering certain sites that are local that could accommodate them for at least two years.”
