Georgia Bulldogs tight end Tre’ McKitty transferred to the University of Georgia from Florida State University.

Georgia Bulldogs tight end Tre’ McKitty transferred to the University of Georgia following the end of the 2019 college football season. McKitty left Florida State University.

McKitty projects as the starting tight end on Georgia’s roster next season. He’ll face some solid competition, but the experience he gained at FSU (played in 35 games) sets him apart from the rest of the group. The Bulldogs are replacing Eli Wolf and NFL draft selection Charlie Woerner.

Georgia added class of 2020 five-star TE Darnell Washington this offseason. Washington is projected to be McKitty’s main competitor for the starting role.  They figure to all compete with John FitzPatrick, the most experienced returning tight end, for playing time.

McKitty racked up 520 total yards at FSU. He was a three-star recruit coming out of IMG Academy. He enters the season on the Mackey Award watch list. He can block too:

UGA football player card: DL Jalen Carter

Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Jalen Carter came to Athens as one of the top players in the class of 2020.

High School: Apopka High School

Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Jalen Carter came to Athens as one of the top players in the class of 2020. Carter was rated as both a five and four-star prospect according to recruiting services.

At Apopka High School, Carter played tight end, punter, and defensive tackle. He dominated as a senior and recorded 12 sacks. He played at the same high school as NFL legend Warren Sapp.

Carter was quite impressive in camps and against stout competition. Can he hold up as well in the SEC? Not too much will be expected of him as a freshman, but he’s certainly got the talent to break into UGA’s talented front seven.

The Dawgs return Jordan Davis, Julian Rochester, Malik Herring, Travon Walker, and more along the defensive line. Carter will be fun to watch next season.

UGA football player card: DL Warren Brinson

Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Warren Brinson played high school football at the prestigious IMG Academy

Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Warren Brinson played high school football at the prestigious IMG Academy. Brinson enrolled early at the University of Georgia.

The four-star recruit will be a part of Georgia’s stout front seven. Brinson is a native of Savannah, Georgia and played football at Savannah Christian before coming to IMG Academy.

Last season, Georgia had the top run defense in the nation and allowed only two rushing touchdowns all season. Brinson will help provide depth and potential for the Dawgs. He’ll be an important player in the future.

Brinson will combine with Malik Herring, Devonte Wyatt, Nolan Smith, Travon Walker, Jermaine Johnson, Azeez Ojulari, Jordan Davis and more to form one of the top defensive fronts in the SEC next season. Dan Lanning’s defense should be a treat to watch.

Georgia football player card: K Jared Zirkel

Georgia Bulldogs kicker Jared Zirkel will be a key player to watch next season. He went to the same high school as Johnny Manziel.

High School: Tivy High School

Georgia Bulldogs kicker Jared Zirkel will be a key player to watch next season. The incoming freshman is expected to takeover Rodrigo Blankenship’s role as starting kicker.

Zirkel came to Athens as a three-star recruit. He’s regarded as one of the top kicker prospects in the class of 2020. In addition to kicking, Zirkel gained some experience as a punter in high school. He additionally made a career long field goal of 59 yards at Tivy, which is also the high school of SEC legend Johnny Manziel.

Zirkel was on a high school team that didn’t need him much. He only attempted six kicks as a senior at Tivy. Over 90% of his kickoffs resulted in a touchback as a junior.

Zirkel will compete with Brooks Buce for the starting job next season.

UGA football player card: DL Jordan Davis

Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Jordan Davis is the anchor of Dan Lanning and Kirby Smart’s defensive front.

Hometown: Charlotte, North Carolina

High School: Mallard Creek High School

Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Jordan Davis is the anchor of Dan Lanning and Kirby Smart’s defensive front. Davis came to Athens as a relatively unheralded three or four-star recruit (depending on the recruiting service). Before coming to UGA, Davis played for North Carolina powerhouse football program Mallard Creek, where he faced some of the top competition in the state.

The run-stopping defensive lineman contributed 2.5 sacks last season. Davis appeared in every game and started eight contests. Davis has recorded 43 total tackles over the first two seasons of his career. He was named a freshman All-American following the 2018 season.

Last season, Georgia had the top run defense in the NCAA and didn’t allow a single rushing touchdown to a running back. Davis was a big part of the reason why the Bulldogs achieved this impressive accomplishment.

Now, Davis will look to combine with Malik Herring, Devonte Wyatt, Nolan Smith, Travon Walker, Jermaine Johnson, Azeez Ojulari, and more to form one of the top defensive fronts in the country.

Malakius’s brother, Tavis, has played football for UNLV. Tavis also a defensive lineman. He helped UNLV go 4-8 last season.

Tyler Malakius will fight for playing time with defensive linemen like Zion Logue, Tramel Walthour, Tymon Mitchell, and more. Malakius is projected to be a back up, since Georgia is returning a lot of experience and talent along the defensive front.

Georgia Bulldogs kicker Brooks Buce played high school football at Greater Atlanta Christian before coming to the University of Georgia. Buce walked on at UGA in 2017. He’s been the back-up kicker in both 2018 and 2019.

Buce has attempted six kickoffs in his career with five of them resulting in touchbacks.

Buce was the number two kicker last season. He’ll compete with Jared Zirkel, Jack Podlesny and more to fill Rodrigo Blankenship’s role next season.

It’s unfortunate for players like Buce that G-Day was canceled in 2020. He’ll look for more game opportunities in the upcoming season.

Georgia Bulldogs kicker Jack Podlesny played high school football at Glynn Academy before coming to the University of Georgia. He made 90% of his field goals as a senior and has a powerful leg that helped him record fifty-five touchbacks on kickoffs. He additionally played soccer in high school.

Podlesny walked on to the team in 2018 and redshirted.

Last season, he made a big 38 yard kick in the G-Day scrimmage to help the black team win with over a minute to play. Podlesny is yet to see regular season action. He’ll compete with Jared Zirkel, Brooks Buce and more to fill Rodrigo Blankenship’s role next season.

It’s unfortunate for players like Podlesny that G-Day was canceled in 2020.

Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Zion Logue came to the University of Georgia as a three-star defensive end recruit. Before coming to Athens, Logue was a talented football player for Lebanon High School.

Logue redshirted as a freshman in 2019, but was able to play against both Murray State and Arkansas State. He’ll look to find more playing time next season.

Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt came to Athens after spending time at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas.

Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt came to Athens after spending time at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas.

Wyatt was a three- or four-star prospect, depending on the recruiting site, coming out of Towers High School in Decatur, Georgia. He was similarly rated coming out of Hutchinson.

Wyatt played in 12 games during the 2018 season, during which he recorded 19 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He stepped up his game last season and was a key factor in the Bulldogs’ No. 1-rated run defense. Wyatt had one sack as well last year.

The senior defensive lineman has NFL potential. Unfortunately, he was involved in an off-the-field incident this offseason. He is certainly a key factor along Georgia’s defensive front, so he would be missed if he’s out for any games this season.
