Auburn’s use of tight ends sparks four-star Emaree Winston’s interest in Auburn

The Texas commit came away from last weekend’s visit with nothing but good things to say about his time in Auburn.

[autotag]Emaree Winston[/autotag], a 2025 four-star tight end, visited Auburn last week and left with a good impression.

The Texas commit, who hadn’t visited the Plains since middle school, explained his re-kindled relationship with the Auburn staff, including tight ends coach [autotag]Ben Aigamaua[/autotag], in an interview with Auburn Undercover.

“We had never talked. Now we talk every day. I wake up and I get a Bible verse every morning. My mom loves that, I love it,” Winston said. “That means a lot because at the end of the day God comes first, and he’s putting that first.”

The Calhoun, Georgia native originally made his decision to commit to Texas because of the way the Longhorns used tight ends in the passing game. While Winston originally didn’t see that same kind of tight end development when looking at Auburn, his opinion changed last season with the emergence of [autotag]Rivaldo Fairweather[/autotag]. It also helps that his hometown is much closer to Auburn than Austin, Texas.

“When I first made my decision, it was towards the development of the tight ends. A couple of years ago they didn’t really use them,” Winston said of Auburn’s use of tight ends. “and (Auburn is) two hours from my house.”

With Winston already verbally committed to an SEC rival, it may be tough for [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and the Auburn staff to flip him in time for signing day later this year. However, it does seem like the four-star is more open to weighing his options than he was prior to his visit.

Four-star Texas commit Emaree Winston schedules official visit to Auburn

Summer recruiting efforts continue to heat up this week as a four-star SEC pledge plans to visit the Plains this weekend.

Summer recruiting efforts continue to heat up this week as a four-star SEC commit plans to visit the Plains.

[autotag]Emaree Winston[/autotag], a 2025 four-star tight end from Calhoun, Georgia, has scheduled an official visit to Auburn. According to Jeffrey Lee of On3, the Texas commit will begin his visit on Friday, May 31, lasting until Sunday.

The news of Winston’s visit comes as a surprise, as he has never visited Auburn to this point in his recruitment. Auburn tight ends coach [autotag]Ben Aigamaua[/autotag] has pursued Winston heavily, translating into a summer visit.

Winston committed to Texas last December, choosing the Longhorns over UCF and Ohio State. He opened up to On3’s Chad Simmons about his Texas commitment, saying that the Longhorns checked all the boxes.

“Texas has what I am looking for. Since I was a little kid, I wanted to play in the SEC. As a tight end, I want to be used in the offense and Texas is a great fit for that. Austin is a place I can grow and start the next chapter in my life. I have great relationships with Coach Jeff Banks and Coach Tashard Choice, too. As my recruitment progressed, things just led me to Texas. I have known for a little while that is where I wanted to be.”

Based on Winston’s reasoning for choosing Texas, it is easy to say that Auburn can present a competitive pitch to Winston this weekend. Auburn tight end [autotag]Rivaldo Fairweather[/autotag] finished last season as Auburn’s leading receiver by hauling in 38 catches for 394 yards and six touchdowns. Auburn is also a founding member of the SEC. It will be interesting to see how this weekend’s visit unfolds for the nation’s No. 12 tight end from the 2025 class.

Ohio State misses out on 2025 Georgia tight end

Another miss for the Buckeyes on the recruiting trail …

The hits continue to come for Ohio State football on the recruiting trail.

It has been a very difficult run over the last month, losing commitments, seeing top of the board targets commit to other schools. and attempts to lure prospects in the transfer portal coming up empty.

Another hit to the stomach happened on Monday evening, as 2025 Georgia tight end, [autotag]Emaree Winston[/autotag], decided to commit to Texas. Ohio State was in his final three schools, but like many others recently, the Buckeyes were left at the altar wondering what they did wrong.

He was one of the best players at his position in the country, ranking as the No. 12 tight end and 254th overall according to the 247Sports Composite Ranking.

There is some silver lining to Winston picking against the Buckeyes, as they the perceived leader for Oklahoma tight end Nate Roberts, who is rated as the No. 104 overall prospect in the same rankings.

Hopefully that decision has a scarlet and gray hue to it when it comes down.

Four-star TE Emaree Winston committs to Texas over UCF and Ohio State

Texas landed a commitment from 2025 four-star TE Emaree Winston on Monday.

Four-star tight end Emaree Winston announced his commitment to Texas on Monday, becoming the second commit of the Longhorns’ 2025 recruiting class.

Winston is from Calhoun, Georgia, and is rated the No. 8 tight end in the 2025 class and No. 119 overall recruit in the state. He had 39 total offers and interest from UCF and Ohio State, but Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns ultimately won out.

He joins four-star quarterback KJ Lacey as the only two commits so far for Texas in 2025.

According to On3’s Justin Wells, Winston developed a relationship with star tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders over the last three months and it especially caught his eye with how Sarkisian uses the position in his offense.

With Sanders likely heading to the NFL after the 2023 season, it demonstrates the value of the tight end position and reinforces that Winston has made the right choice by coming to Texas.

Texas’ 2025 recruiting class is currently ranked No. 31 overall with just two commits. More commitments are expected in the near future.

Ohio State football makes top 3 for 4-star 2025 Georgia tight end

The Buckeyes could be landing a very good tight end soon

With Ohio State football featuring tight end Cade Stover in a much more prominent role on offense, it’s been a bit easier for the Buckeye coaching staff to gain interest from recruits.

One of those is Georgia’s [autotag]Emaree Winston[/autotag], a class of 2025 tight end who stands 6-foot, 2-inches and weighs 235-pounds. The No. 12 player at his position and 253rd overall according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings visited Columbus earlier this month, and that trip left a lasting impact.

It was enough to keep the Buckeyes inside Winston’s top three, which he announced on Tuesday afternoon. His other two finalists are UCF and Texas.

Winston is expect to make a decision soon, so the Buckeyes will know if the talented tight end will be joining the 2025 class.

Georgia 2025 tight end has Ohio State in his final fix schools

The Buckeyes could be getting another Georgia tight end in the near future #GoBucks

The [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] team is working on putting the finishing touches on their 2024 class, but its sole focus isn’t necessarily on that group.

The 2025 class has just one verbal, quarterback Tavien St. Clair, and the Buckeyes are looking for pass catchers for the in-state star. One of those players could be Georgia tight end, [autotag]Emaree Winston[/autotag], who dropped his top six schools: USC, UCF, Cincinnati, North Carolina, Tennessee and Ohio State.

The 6-foot, 2-inch, 235-pound tight end is one of the best in the country. Winston is ranked as the No. 7 prospect at his position while being the 207th overall player in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Ohio State could very well be in the drivers seat in Winston’s recruitment, as they hold the only two 247Sports crystal ball picks for him at the moment.

Ohio State misses out on 2025 Oklahoma tight end who commits to Midwest power

The Buckeyes still haven’t found a 2025 tight end #GoBucks

[autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] was in the running to add 2025 Oklahoma tight end [autotag]Nate Roberts[/autotag] after being named one of his top schools and hosting him on a visit earlier this month.

The old recruiting adage of getting the last shot to impress a prospect turned out to be true this time around as Roberts’ last visit to was South Bend. The 6-foot, 4-inch and 230 pound tight end selected Notre Dame from his final contenders.

It would have been nice to see Roberts end up in Columbus but at the current moment there are multiple other players at his position that the Buckeyes are recruiting heavily.

Georgia’s [autotag]Emaree Winston[/autotag] is high on Ohio State and there is potential for [autotag]Luka Gilbert[/autotag] to stay home and play for the Buckeyes as well. The search for a 2025 tight end commit continues.
