49ers inactives: RB Elijah Mitchell, RG Spencer Burford officially ruled out vs. Seahawks

The #49ers are pretty banged up for Sunday’s game. Here are the inactives:

The injury bug caught up with the 49ers heading into their Week 14 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. Of their seven inactive players,  five are out because of injury.

Here’s who won’t suit up for San Francisco:

Mitchell and Burford were both considered doubtful going into Sunday and now they’ve been officially ruled out.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan originally indicated Mitchell was dealing with some knee soreness, but his absence all week in practice and during Sunday’s game are a sign there may be more than general soreness. There’s been no official diagnosis for the RB.

Burford was a little banged up going into Week 13, but played through it. Now he’s dealing with a different knee injury that will keep him out this week.

The Eagles will face the Cowboys without key personnel, as security chief Dom DiSandro has been banned from the sidelines for the Week 14 showdown.

The NFL sent a memo to teams this week after a sideline incident involving the 49ers’ linebacker Dre Greenlaw and the Eagles’ head of security, Dom DiSandro.

“Please ensure that all members of your game-day staff understand that their role does not extend to being involved with game day altercations and that they must refrain from such involvement.”
An already intense game grew chippy after tensions escalated when Greenlaw tackled Eagles receiver DeVonta Smith after the whistle near the Philadelphia sideline.

The late hit drew a 15-yard penalty, and as players from both teams got involved in a mini-scuffle, Eagles security chief Dom DiSandro stepped in between Greenlaw and DeVonta Smith.

While separating the two, DiSandro touched Greenlaw, who took exception and shoved the Eagles’ security before things simmered down.

Greenlaw and DiSandro were ejected, and San Francisco would win 42-19.

Eagles’ safety Justin Evans to remain on IR for rest of season after 21 day practice window expires

Justin Evans will remain on injured reserve for the rest of the 2023 NFL season after seeing his 21 day practice window expire.

The Justin Evans experiment is over, as the former Saints safety will see his season end after his 21-day practice window expires.

Philadelphia activated Evans’ 21-day practice window back on Nov. 14, but that 21-day window closed on Tuesday, and Evans will remain on Injured Reserve, ending his season.

Evans was a limited participant his first week back at practice but could not practice the last two weeks.

Signed as a free agent this offseason, Evans started the first four games of the season at safety for the Eagles, logging 15 tackles (nine solo), two passes deflected, and one forced fumble in four games.
