NC State at Duke odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s NC State at Duke odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The NC State Wolfpack (4-2. 1-1 ACC) face the No. 18 Duke Blue Devils (4-1, 1-0) on Saturday at Wallace Wade Stadium in Week 7 of the college football season. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ACC Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the NC State vs. Duke odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

NC State defeated Marshall 48-41 in Week 6 to cover as 6.5-point home favorites and hit the Over of 44 with ease. The Wolfpack has won 3 of its last 4 games this season and they benched transfer QB Brennan Armstrong in the win over Marshall last week and turned to sophomore MJ Morris.

Duke is coming off a bye week in Week 6 following a 21-14 loss to No. 21 Notre Dame in Week 5, in which they failed to cover as 4.5-point home underdogs. The Under of 53 also hit in the lone loss of the season for the Blue Devils. Duke enters Saturday’s ACC showdown as the No. 18 ranked team in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports

NC State at Duke picks and predictions

Prediction

Duke 24, NC State 17

Moneyline

Even though I believe the Blue Devils will secure the win on Saturday, I’ll PASS on their moneyline at -160 odds, down from an opening -175. If you can get Duke at -150 odds or better anywhere, I would be more comfortable wagering on it straight up.

Against the spread

DUKE -3 (-115) is a fantastic bet in this ACC matchup as the Blue Devils have their sights on a solid bowl game this season. The Blue Devils want to pound the rock with ailing QB Riley Leonard under center and play stifling defense. If Leonard (ankle) can’t play Saturday, that would likely mean the 1st career start for redshirt freshman Henry Belin IV.

NC State is 1-4-1 ATS compared to Duke’s 3-2 ATS record.

Over/Under

UNDER 43.5 (-105) is the lean in this contest with Duke’s style of play. The Blue Devils are holding teams to 11.2 points per game (4th-fewest in the nation) and are balanced offensively (206 passing yards per game, 199.4 rushing yards per game).

These teams are a combined 4-6-1 to the Over this season. Also, NC State and Duke are a combined 0-4 to the Over in conference games so far.

Notre Dame at Duke odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Notre Dame at Duke odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish (4-1) and the Duke Blue Devils (4-0) meet Saturday at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, N.C. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Notre Dame vs. Duke odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Fighting Irish lost 17-14 in the most excruciating way possible last week against Ohio State, allowing the go-ahead TD on the final play of regulation. The Irish still hung on for the cover at most shops, cashing as 3.5-point underdogs as the Under (55.5) connected, ending a 3-0 run to the Over.

The Blue Devils keep steaming ahead, spanking UConn 41-7 on the road last week. Not everyone was happy, as Under bettors had about the worse bad beat you’ll ever see. The Huskies scored their lone points with 12 seconds left in regulation to flip the total (45).

Duke is 3-0 ATS against FBS opponents this season, and the Over is 2-0-1 in the past 3 outings after an Under result in its upset win over Clemson on Labor Day night.

Notre Dame leads the all-time series 5-2, including a 38-7 win in its last visit to Durham on Nov. 9, 2019.

Notre Dame is No. 13 and Duke is No. 16 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

  • Against the spread (ATS): Notre Dame -5.5 (-115) | Duke +5.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 52.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Notre Dame at Duke picks and predictions

Prediction

Notre Dame 34, Duke 23

Moneyline

Notre Dame (-215) looks to bounce back after the devastating home loss. In the grand scheme of things, a 3-point setback to Ohio State, a top-5 team, isn’t going to disqualify the Irish from the playoff conversation, especially losing on the final play. It was a super-close game. However, it needs to win out, and can gather some momentum with a road win against a top-20 team.

AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

NOTRE DAME -5.5 (-110) is a great play, and it’s surprising that this line isn’t much higher.

The Fighting Irish have QB Sam Hartman and a tremendous passing attack, but the offense is well balanced, with RB Audric Estime racking up 7.7 yards per game with 5 rushing TDs in 5 games. This is a powerful type of offense that Duke +5.5 (-110) just hasn’t seen all season. You might say Clemson, but the Tigers are just 2-2, and that Duke upset on Labor Day is looking a little less impressive.

Over/Under

OVER 52.5 (-115) is the lean, as Notre Dame looks to get the offense untracked.

Notre Dame had scored 41 or more points in the first 4 games before being stymied by the Ohio State defense last weekend.

Duke has been surprisingly explosive, going for 38 or more points in each of the past 3 games, while cashing the Over in the previous 2 outings. The Blue Devils defense has allowed a total of just 35 points, including exactly 7 in 3 outings. However, facing UConn, Northwestern and Lafayette is a lot different than facing Notre Dame.

Duke at UConn odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Duke at UConn odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The No. 18 Duke Blue Devils (3-0) will take their undefeated record on the road to face the UConn Huskies (0-3) Saturday. Kickoff from Pratt & Whitney Stadium is at 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Duke vs. UConn odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

This will be just the third all-time meeting between two schools best known for their basketball Prowess. UConn won 45-14 when these teams last met in 2007 and recorded a 22-20 victory in the first meeting in 2002. However, it will have a tall task ahead to topple the undefeated Blue Devils, currently ranked No. 18 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

While Duke and coach Mike Elko come into this game undefeated, UConn and coach Jim Mora come in yet to win a game. In its first game since losing starting QB Joe Fagnano for the season, UConn lost 24-17 to Florida International as a 7-point favorite on Saturday. The Huskies also lost their first game vs. the ACC this season, falling 24-14 to NC State in their opener.

  • Against the spread (ATS): Duke -21.5 (-105) | UConn +21.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 44.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Duke at UConn picks and predictions

Prediction

Duke 37, UConn 13

Moneyline

PASS.

Neither of these numbers is worth a play, either straight up or as part of a parlay.

Against the spread

BET DUKE -21.5 (-105).

Even without QB Riley Leonard throwing a TD pass, Duke demolished Northwestern 38-14 Saturday in its third straight home game to start the season. This came just 2 weeks after Duke defeated Clemson 28-7, a game in which Leonard threw for just 175 yards.

The Blue Devils are undefeated due to their being ranked 5th nationally with 242.7 rush yards per game. The Duke offensive line will overwhelm the defense of the Huskies and this game will not be close.

While UConn might get some garbage time scores, it will not be enough to get this game to within the 21.5-point spread.

Over/Under

BET OVER 44.5 (-110).

Duke has been an effective running team early in the season and is 1-1-1 O/U this season. The only Under that cashed was the 28-7 victory over Clemson in the opener.

The Tigers’ defense is far superior to that of UConn and the Huskies will find it challenging to hold down the offense of the Blue Devils.

While Duke will get to 35 in this game, this just means UConn must get to 10. While it will take a while to do so, UConn will eventually get there and the game will go OVER 44.5 (-110) before the final whistle.

Clemson at Duke odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Clemson at Duke odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Clemson Tigers and the Duke Blue Devils open their regular seasons on Monday night at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, N.C. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Clemson at Duke odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Tigers roll into the Triangle looking to come away with yet another win over the Blue Devils. Clemson has won 5 straight meetings in the series since Duke won at Wallace Wace on Nov. 13, 2004. This is the 1st meeting between the school since Nov. 17, 2008, a 35-6 Tigers win in the upstate.

Clemson QB Cade Klubnik begins his 1st full season as the starter under center, as QB D.J. Uiagalelei transferred to Oregon State after losing his starting job late in the season to the prospect.

Duke won 9 games last season under new coach Mike Elko, including a bowl victory. The Blue Devils will be hard-pressed to repeat the showing, as the schedule is extremely difficult. Duke managed to go 5-1 straight-up (SU) at home last season, and it was 5-0 against the spread (ATS) at Wallace Wade Stadium vs. FBS opponents in 2022.

Clemson is No. 9 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll.

Clemson at Duke picks and predictions

Prediction

Clemson 38, Duke 17

Moneyline

Clemson (-500) will cost you 5 times your potential return, and that’s quite a large amount of risk for not enough reward.

While Duke (+375) isn’t traditionally a national power, it did win 9 games, and it exceeded expectations by miles. QB Riley Leonard and the offense could be quite formidable again.

PASS.

Against the spread

CLEMSON -13 (-110) might begin this game a little on the sluggish side before talent takes over and the Tigers pull away in the 2nd half.

Duke +13 (-110) protected its field well last season, winning 5 of 6 games, while covering all 5 games vs. FBS opponents. However, Leonard and the offense won’t be able to answer Klubnik and the Tigers all evening long.

Over/Under

UNDER 55.5 (-110) might be the most dramatic part of this entire game, as I expect the total to go low by a slim margin.

The Under went 3-1-1 in Duke’s 5 home games against FBS opponents in 2022. Clemson has held Duke to 83 total points in the past 7 meetings, or 11.8 points per game (PPG). The Blue Devils aren’t likely to exceed that total by very much in this one, either.

The 5th-seeded Duke Blue Devils (27-8) and 4th-seeded Tennessee Volunteers (24-10) meet Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Tip from Amway Center in Orlando is scheduled for approximately 2:40 p.m. ET (CBS). Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Duke vs. Tennessee odds as we make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

Duke routed Oral Roberts 74-51 in the opening game of the tourney, easily covering as a 5.5-point favorite as the Under (147) cashed.

The Blue Devils clamped down on the Golden Eagles, limiting ORU to just 30% (19 of 63) from the field and posting a plus-14 rebounding margin. Duke shot 48% (31 of 64) and turned it over just 8 times. G Jeremy Roach, the most experienced Duke player in terms of NCAA Tournament games, racked up a game-high 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting.

Tennessee had a close shave in a 58-55 victory over Louisiana, although it came nowhere near covering as an 11.5-point favorite while the Under (135.5) comfortably came through. Tennessee led by 18 points with 11 minutes to go, but Louisiana had a furious comeback.

The Vols shot 46% (21 of 46), but were just 57% (12 of 21) from the free-throw line. Tennessee was sloppy with 16 turnovers, and it held just a 27-to-23 rebounding margin. It will obviously have to be much better to get by Duke.

Duke vs. Tennessee picks and predictions

Prediction

Duke 65, Tennessee 60

Moneyline

DUKE (-170) isn’t priced out of line if you’d just like to pick it straight up and avoid fiddling around with the points.

Tennessee is just 6-7 straight-up (SU) and 4-9 ATS in the past 13 games. For whatever reason, the Vols are just not hitting on all cylinders right now.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread

Take DUKE -3.5 (-110) with the points, which is substantially cheaper.

The Blue Devils are on a roll with a season-high 10 straight wins, and they’ve covered a season-high 5 in a row, too. Duke was just 8-18 ATS in the 26 games prior to the impressive 5-0 ATS run.

The Volunteers are 4-9 ATS in the past 13 games and 1-5 ATS in the past 6 games against teams with a winning overall mark. In addition, the Vols are just 1-7 ATS in the past 8 NCAA Tournament outings.

Over/Under

The UNDER 128.5 (-110) is worth a look but with a half-unit wager at most.

The Under is 4-1 in the past 5 neutral-site games for the Vols and is 7-2 in the past 9 neutral-site games for the Blue Devils. In addition, the Under is 9-3-1 in the past 13 games for Duke against teams with a winning percentage greater than .600.

March Madness: Oral Roberts vs. Duke odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Oral Roberts vs. Duke odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The 12-seed Oral Roberts Golden Eagles (30-4) face the 5-seed Duke Blue Devils (26-8) Thursday in a first-round East Region game in the NCAA Tournament. Tip-off from Amway Center in Orlando is scheduled for approximately 7:10 p.m. ET (truTV). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Oral Roberts vs. Duke odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Golden Eagles rolled to the Summit League Tournament title with victories over North Dakota, St. Thomas (Minn.) and North Dakota State, winning 2 of the games by 16 or more points. It limited teams to just 61.5 PPG in the final 2 games, cashing the Under in each outing.

Oral Roberts went 1-3 straight-up (SU) against 4 teams in the NCAA Tournament field, while going 2-2 against the spread (ATS).

ORU broke brackets everywhere in 2021, upsetting Ohio State and Florida as a 15-seed, going to the Sweet 16 behind the heroics of Max Abmas and Kevin Obanor. The latter transferred out to Texas Tech, but Abmas is still in Tulsa doing his thing, and he rolled up 22.3 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 3.7 APG and 1.2 SPG, while hitting 37.3% from behind the 3-point line and 91.4% from the free-throw line.

Duke is in uncharted territory, as coach Jon Scheyer leads the Blue Devils into his 1st NCAA Tournament. He has had gigantic shoes to fill this season, taking over for Hall of Famer Mike Krzyzewski, who took his team to 13 Final Four appearances and 5 national championships.

[afflinkbutton text=”Watch Duke vs. Oral Roberts” link=”https://www.fubo.tv/welcome?irad=343747&irmp=1205322&subId1=SBW&subId2=March%20Madness&subId3=odds%20post%20HTW%20buttons”]

The new boss is the same as the old boss. Scheyer helped Duke win the ACC Tournament, winning and covering all 3 games in Greensboro. Duke has won a season-high 9 straight games heading into the NCAA Tournament, too.

Oral Roberts vs. Duke picks and predictions

PASS.

Against the spread

ORAL ROBERTS +6.5 (-112) is not going to be fazed going up against Duke -6.5 (-108). Abmas has more NCAA Tournament experience than most players on the Blue Devils roster, and he is deadly from the perimeter. While Duke has allowed just 30.8% from behind the 3-point line and allowing just 63.8 PPG, Abmas and the Golden Eagles have a strong offense to hang around all the way.

Over/Under

UNDER 145.5 (-110) might be the best play on the board in this first-round game.

The Under is 7-1 in the last 8 games overall for Oral Roberts, while cashing in 4 of the last 5 games against teams with a winning percentage over .600.

For Duke, the Under has cashed in 6 of the last 8 neutral-site games, while going 8-3-1 in the last 12 against teams with a winning percentage over .600.

ACC Tournament: Duke vs. Virginia odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Duke vs. Virginia odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 21 Duke Blue Devils (25-8) face the No. 11 Virginia Cavaliers (25-6) Saturday in the ACC Tournament championship. Tip from Greensboro Coliseum is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Duke vs. Virginia odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

The Blue Devils covered as 2.5-point favorites in Friday’s 85-78 victory over No. 13 Miami. Duke is currently on an 8-game win streak and is 4-1 against the spread over its last 5 outings.

The Cavaliers beat Clemson 76-56 Friday to cover as 3-point favorites as the Over (126.5) connected. Virginia has won 4 games in a row and 8 of its last 10 contests but is just 4-5-1 ATS along that stretch.

This will be the second meeting between Duke and Virginia this season. The Cavaliers secured a 69-62 overtime victory to cover as 6-point home favorites and the Over (126) connected on Feb. 11.

Duke vs. Virginia picks and predictions

Prediction

Duke 66, Virginia 62

Moneyline

DUKE (-135) is who I side with Saturday. The Blue Devils are getting hot at the perfect time and the Cavaliers are struggling to score consistently.

Against the spread

LEAN DUKE -2.5 (-105).

The Blue Devils have been impressive in the ACC tournament and have won 8 straight conference games. Duke is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games overall, and Virginia is 2-5-1 ATS in its last 8 games overall.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Over/Under

OVER 123.5 (-105) is how I’d bet the total despite that both squads have strong defenses. Duke has scored 77 or more points in 5 of its last 7 games and has made 76.8% of its free-throw attempts this season (23rd in the nation).

The Blue Devils are 4-2 to the Over in their last 6 games overall and the Cavaliers are 4-1 to the Over as underdogs this season.

ACC Tournament: Duke vs. Miami odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Duke vs. Miami odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 21 Duke Blue Devils (24-8) take on the No. 13 Miami Hurricanes (25-6) Friday in the semifinal round of the ACC Tournament. Tip from Greensboro Coliseum is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Duke vs. Miami odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Duke easily covered as a 5.5-point favorite when it destroyed Pittsburgh 96-69 in the quarterfinal round of the tournament Thursday. It has now won 7 games in a row and is 4-3 against the spread (ATS) in that span. The Blue Devils are just 13-19 ATS this season.

Miami snuck past Wake Forest 74-72 in the quarterfinal round of the tournament Thursday but failed to cover as a 6.5-point favorite. It has now won 9 of its last 10 games and is 6-4 ATS in that span. The Hurricanes are 18-13 ATS this season.

Miami and Duke split the season series this year with Duke beating Miami 68-66 at home on Jan. 21 while failing to cover as a 6-point favorite and Miami beating Duke 81-59 on Feb. 6 to cover as a 3-point home favorite.

Duke vs. Miami picks and predictions

Prediction

Duke 71, Miami 69

PASS.

Duke (-145) has been playing solid basketball lately, but this should be a tight game and this line doesn’t contain enough value.

ACC Tournament: Pittsburgh vs. Duke odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Pittsburgh vs. Duke odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The 5th-seeded Pittsburgh Panthers (22-10) and 4th-seeded Duke Blue Devils (23-8) meet Thursday in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals. Tip at Greensboro Coliseum is at approximately 2:30 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Pittsburgh vs. Duke odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Pittsburgh went 8-1 from Jan. 25-Feb. 25, but it enters the ACC tourney after back-to-back losses at the end of the regular season to finish 14-6 in league action. The Panthers play at a slower-than-average pace and are efficient on defense, but they have allowed 78 or more points in 4 of their last 5 games.

Duke enters the ACC Tournament on a roll. The Blue Devils went 14-6 in conference play but have won 6 straight games and are 9-2 over their last 11 outings. Duke — which is ranked 21st nationally — has held foes to a 38.4 % mark from the floor over the 6-game win streak.

Pittsburgh vs. Duke picks and predictions

Prediction

Duke 74, Pittsburgh 63

Moneyline

Pittsburgh has been off its game of late, and Duke has its defense cranked up and is perhaps hitting stride at the right time after a couple of lulls in the regular season.

The price here is near fair, but better value can be found against the number.

PASS.

Against the spread

Duke’s recent outings against Virginia Tech (81-65 win on Feb. 25) and North Carolina (62-57 win Saturday) bode well for how the Devils might handle Pittsburgh.

The Devils overcame an outlier-bad shooting performance and a 1st-half deficit to earn a 77-69 triumph in their lone regular-season meeting with the Panthers (Jan. 11 in Durham). Duke went just 6-of-27 (22.2%) from distance in that game.

DU is not a good 3-point shooting team, but it will likely improve on that performance. Where this youthful squad is really improved of late is in taking care of the basketball, getting to the free-throw line and defending at the other end. Those factors should loom large in what figures as a double-digit Duke win Thursday.

BACK THE BLUE DEVILS -6.5 (-105).

Over/Under

The Under is 5-0 in Duke’s last 5 neutral-site games and 7-1-1 in its last 9 games against foes playing .600-or-better basketball.

Pitt 3s and Devils’ 2nd-chance points are the main spiral factors in this one. That’s not a major worry though — and the pace figures to be a dialed-down.

TAKE THE UNDER 141.5 (-110).

Duke at North Carolina odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Duke at North Carolina odds and lines, with expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The Duke Blue Devils (22-8, 13-6 ACC) finish the season against the North Carolina Tar Heels (19-11, 11-8) Saturday in Chapel Hill. Tip from Dean E. Smith Center is at 6:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Duke vs. UNC odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

After these rivals, located just 7 miles apart, met in the Final Four in 2022, no one would have imagined their 2023 regular-season finales possibly being for a return trip to the tournament.

UNC came into the season ranked No. 1 in the nation with 4 returning starters and an excellent incoming freshman class. Legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski retired following 2022, but this was not supposed to happen.

The Tar Heels will likely miss the tournament unless they can win Saturday and make a deep run in the ACC Tournament. Duke is more solid in its position, but it would love nothing better than to be the final nail in its rival’s coffin.

Duke has dealt with injury and had touted freshmen not live up to the hype. While the Blue Devils are normally a good 3-point shooting team, they have only hit 33.0% on the season (245th nationally).

Duke at UNC picks and predictions

Prediction

Duke 74, UNC 71

Moneyline

BET DUKE (+150).

UNC has everything on the line at home in this game and coach Hubert Davis will have the Tar Heels ready to go. But in this season and with this team, it won’t be enough.

Duke topped UNC 63-57 as a 2.5-point home favorite as the Under (145.5) connected on Feb. 4.

This will be another close battle, but the underdog Blue Devils will win.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

This is a PASS for me, but if you would rather take the points with Duke (or do a split moneyline/against the spread wager), that’s a reasonable strategy as well.

However, I think Duke will be able to pull off the upset over its rivals and I would rather make the moneyline play and forego the less lucrative spread.

Over/Under

BET OVER 143.5 (-110).

Saturday should give us a close game with a solid pace.

The Over is 5-1 in the Blue Devils’ last 6 games against a team with a winning record. UNC has a similar streak going as it is 7-1 to the Over in its last 8 against a team with a winning record.

A close game at the end means trips to the free throw line will also be in store. This will help propel the game OVER 143.5 (-110).
