Eagles unofficial depth chart ahead of wild card matchup vs. Buccaneers

We’re looking at the Philadelphia Eagles unofficial depth chart for their Wild Card matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Eagles have a chance to write a new chapter on this season, and the journey will start at Raymond James Stadium against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-8) on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.

It’ll be a rematch of a Week 3 clash that also took place on a Monday night, as Philadelphia came away with a 25-11 win that wasn’t as close as the score indicated.

On that night in September, the Eagles ran for 201 yards, and Hurts passed for 277, dominating the time of possession. It started an identity crisis for Philadelphia, as they struggled going 1-for-5 in the red zone.

The Eagles’ defense limited Tampa Bay to 41 rushing yards, forced two takeaways, and held Mayfield to 146 passing yards with two quarterback sacks.

With kickoff fast approaching, here’s an updated depth chart for Monday night courtesy of Philadelphia’s PR staff.

Rookie defensive tackle and No. 9 overall pick Jalen Carter was dominant in limited pass rush opportunities, while the Eagles secondary adjusted without Avonte Maddox in the slot, moving James Bradberry and Sydney Brown around the field.

In that matchup, Tampa finished with 174 total yards and was 5-10 on third downs.

Fast forward four months later, and the two teams will meet for a second time this season after the Buccaneers won the NFC South, securing the fourth seed.

Bucs RB Chase Edmonds activated off Injured Reserve

Help is on the way for Tampa Bay’s running game as a veteran returns to the backfield.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have some fresh legs in the backfield for their Thursday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills.

The team announced on Wednesday that running back Chase Edmonds has officially been activated off Injured Reserve back to the active roster. Cornerback Derrek Pitts was waived by the team in order to make room for him. Edmonds was required to sit out at least four games on IR, but got an extra week of rest due to the team’s bye week coming in the middle of that period — as a result, he may be more rested than most coming off IR.

Edmonds only has four carries this year, but he currently leads the team in yards per carry with 5.0. He’s a veteran back who has produced in the past, so he has an opportunity to take the No. 2 running back role behind RB Rachaad White. It’s unknown how much he’ll be used against the Bills, but the team certainly needs a spark in the run game.

Bucs RB Chase Edmonds designated to return from IR

The Bucs could be getting back some help for their running game sooner than later.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be getting some help for their running game.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday that the Bucs are designating running back [autotag]Chase Edmonds[/autotag] to return to the active roster from injured reserve. Players have a 21-day window to be activated back to the active roster, and if they are unable to return by that time, the player cannot come back to the team for the season.

That shouldn’t be a problem for Edmonds, though, and he could be ready as early as the team’s game against the Buffalo Bills Thursday night. IR demands that a player misses four games, but not four weeks — as such, Edmonds was able to do part of his recovery during the bye week, so it’s possible he could be healthier than most coming off IR. It is a short week, however, so if the team didn’t want to risk it, he could return for the team’s next game against the Houston Texans in Week 9.
