2023 NFL mock draft: Latest 7-round forecast for Bucs

Check out the latest seven-round projection for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2023 NFL draft

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers ended their frustrating 2022 season with a disappointing loss in the first round of the playoffs, and now face a daunting offseason full of big question marks on both sides of the ball.

A long list of free agents, along with a challenging salary cap situation, will force the Bucs to hit big on as many picks as possible in the 2023 NFL draft. Tampa Bay is set to lose some key players this offseason, and they won’t have much money to replace them with veterans, so the rookies will have to deliver.

Here’s an updated look at how all seven rounds of this year’s draft could shake out for the Bucs:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers would obviously prefer to still be in the postseason, but instead, they’ve been forced to turn their attention toward a daunting offseason full of massive question marks.

Considering their long list of pending free agents, as well as a challenging salary cap situation, it’s absolutely vital that the Bucs nail as many picks as possible in the 2023 NFL draft.

Some key veterans will be missing in the starting lineup next year, which means this year’s rookie class could be counted on to make an immediate impact on both sides of the ball.

2023 NFL mock draft: Updated 7-round projections for the Bucs

Bucs Wire editor Luke Easterling updates his full seven-round projections for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2023 NFL draft

There’s no middle ground for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers right now.

As things currently sit, it looks like the Bucs will either win the NFC South and get a home playoff game as the NFC’s No. 4 seed, or end up with a top-10 pick in the 2023 NFL draft thanks to their uninspiring record.

There’s still an outside chance the Bucs could make the postseason as a wild-card team, but it’s much more likely that they’ll win the lackluster NFC South, or fly up the draft board by losing the division over the final three weeks of the season.

Assuming they remain where they are, currently slated to pick 19th overall in the first round, here’s an updated look at how all seven rounds of next year’s draft could shake out for the Bucs:

Here’s an early look at how all seven rounds of the 2023 NFL draft could shake out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still laser-focused on finishing the 2022 season strong, and thanks to a weak NFC South, there’s still a strong chance they can take home another division title.

Things are far less clear for the franchise heading into the offseason, with a scary salary cap situation, and key players like Tom Brady and Lavonte David on expiring contracts. That should make the 2023 NFL draft even more vital when it comes to keeping the Bucs competitive in the near future.

Roger Goodell informs teams that 2020 NFL draft will be ‘fully virtual’

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell sent out a memo today to all teams informing them this year’s NFL draft will be fully virtual.

Sports leagues around the world are dealing with the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, which has put much of everyday life on hold for most people. The NFL and its clubs have been doing their best to handle the situation with the NFL draft fast approaching this month.

Most teams haven’t been able to work out of their facilities or travel for Pro Days because of travel restrictions and social distancing requirements. Despite some GMs feeling the draft should be postponed, commissioner Roger Goodell has stuck with the original draft date.

Today, he sent out a memo to teams informing them that the 2020 NFL draft will be fully virtual. Take a look at the memo below, tweeted out by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

USA TODAY releases NFL mock draft: Will Andrew Thomas be blocking for Tom Brady next season?

USA Today released its most recent NFL mock draft and had one Georgia football player going in the first round, Andrew Thomas.

It’s the start of NFL Free Agency and so far we have seen multiple big time names sign with new teams – filling prior needs and creating new ones for many franchises.

With that in mind, creating an NFL mock draft this week is a tough task seeing as how analysts really won’t have a clear picture of what needs teams will look to fill come April’s NFL Draft.

Michel Middlehurst-Schwartz of USA TODAY took a shot it anyway, releasing his most recent first-round NFL mock draft on Thursday.

This mock draft comes shortly after tons of NFL movement, including Tom Brady leaving New England and likely joining the Tampa Bay Bucs.

Middlehurst-Schwartz started his mock draft with the Bengals taking LSU quarterback Joe Burrow. This means AJ Green finally gets a real passer in Cincy. The former Georgia star was franchise tagged by the Bengals this week despite making it clear he was not in favor of that move. Maybe the addition of a superstar quarterback will help the Bengals hold on to their star wideout.

In another notable pick, he has the Dolphins taking Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa, which seems to be the most common prediction this offseason for Tua.

The first and only Georgia player to get taken off the board in the first round comes at pick No. 14:

14. Buccaneers — Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia: There likely are still forthcoming changes to be made for Tampa Bay to meld its offense into an outfit comfortable for Brady. A good starting point is upgrading the line, and the steady Thomas is likely the most pro-ready of his peers.

Thomas (6’5″, 315 lbs) was about as consistent of a left tackle as I’ve ever seen at the collegiate level. He anchored college football’s best offensive line as a junior last season and has received great reviews all year long pertaining to his draft rating.

If Thomas does end blocking for Brady in Tampa, he would join former Bulldog offensive linemen David Andrews and Isaiah Wynn as recent Dawgs to protect the future Hall of Famer.

Multiple former Georgia players go to Falcons rivals in latest NFL mock draft

Three former Georgia football players, including Jake Fromm and Jacob Eason, go to Atlanta Falcons’ rivals.

The NFL Draft is coming up in just a few months and multiple former Bulldogs are expecting to hear their names called in Las Vegas.

In the latest four-round 2020 NFL mock draft done by USA TODAY’s DraftWire, multiple former Georgia players go in round one and three guys head to the NFC South.

However, none are projected to go the Falcons, a franchise that has routinely passed up on drafting players from the in-state university over the years.

The first two picks of the draft see Joe Burrow headed to Cincinnati and Chase Young to Washington.

Andrew Thomas goes early…

Pick No. 4: Andrew Thomas to the Giants

At No. 4 the first Dawg, offensive tackle Andrew Thomas, gets taken by the New York Giants.

On Thomas, DraftWire wrote:

If the Giants want Daniel Jones to become a true franchise quarterback, they’re going to have to protect him. General manager Dave Gettleman is as old-school as they come, so don’t be surprised when he spends this pick in the trenches. Moving back would be ideal given this year’s depth at both tackle and along the interior, but if they’re stuck here, Thomas is a strong pick.

At No. 5, the Miami Dolphins take Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Kindley to Tennessee…

Pick No. 29: Solomon Kindley to the Titans

In the first round, at pick No. 29, Georgia has its second player selected in the draft. Offensive guard Solomon Kindley, one of the most consistent blockers at Georgia over the past couple of seasons, is projected to the Tennessee Titans, where he would team up with former UGA center Ben Jones.

On Kindley, Draft Wire wrote:

If Derrick Henry leaves in free agency, running back obviously becomes a strong possibility here. But if he returns, the Titans should focus on fortifying an already strong offensive line with young reinforcements. Kindley is the best of a deep class of interior blockers, and his experience against top competition in the SEC have him ready to make an impact from Day 1.

Former Bulldog goes to the NFC South in the second round…
