Elite Ohio 2024 cornerback Bryce West is down to two rival schools

Will West stay home or play for the Buckeyes rival? #GoBucks

It has become an [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] and Michigan battle for Ohio 2024 cornerback [autotag]Bryce West[/autotag].

The 5-foot, 11-inch and 175 pound Cleveland Glenville star was set to make an official visit to USC this weekend but that visit will not happen. West has announced that he is down to the two rival schools and will make his decision between them.

West told On3’s Chad Simmons that “it’s a battle between Michigan and Ohio State,” as he took his official to Ann Arbor last weekend. West’s visit to Columbus is set up for June 23rd, so the Buckeyes will get the last shot at impressing the cornerback.

Hopefully the final impression is enough to convince West to stay home and play for the Buckeyes.

Top 2024 CB target eliminates USC, down to Michigan football and the Buckeyes

Let’s beat the Buckeyes again!

Michigan will have a good showing again this weekend when it plays host to some big names for official visits, but the Wolverines are coming off a gigantic recruiting weekend last week.

The Wolverines had two five-stars on campus, plus some priority targets. One in particular was Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville cornerback, Bryce West.

West was on campus on June 9 for the weekend, and it appeared he hit off with the recruits and Michigan commits. West was scheduled to visit USC this weekend, but he canceled the visit with the Trojans according to On3. He announced the battle to land him is down to Michigan and Ohio State.

West, a four-star, is the 49th-ranked player in the 2024 class according to the 247Sports composite. He is the No. 4 cornerback in the cycle and the top-ranked player in the state of Ohio.

According to the recruiting services, the Buckeyes have a big lead for West. Seven crystal ball predictions are in for West to select OSU. The On3 recruiting prediction machine gives Ohio State a 97.2% chance to land West.

But Michigan has won one big battle with the Buckeyes on the 2024 trail thus far. The Wolverines landed four-star running back Jordan Marshall, an Ohio native, over the Buckeyes. The maize and blue have four Ohio commitments in the class.

Highly coveted cornerback has Ohio State in top seven

Bryce West would be a huge win for the Ohio State secondary. #GoBucks

The Ohio State recruiting class is coming along nicely thus far. Currently, the Buckeyes have the No. 4 overall class according to 247Sports. Although heavy on the offensive side of the ball, the coaching staff is looking forward to hosting a number of highly touted defensive recruits in June.

One of those who will be taking an official visit to Columbus is cornerback Bryce West. West recently narrowed his list down to seven schools with OSU making the cut. Others on the list include some big hitters in Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, Texas A&M, and USC.

West is an Ohio native hailing from Cleveland Glenville High School. Traditionally, Glenville has been a pipeline to Ohio State. And as of now, things are looking good for the Buckeyes as 247Sports has seven crystal ball predictions for West in favor of the Scarlet and Gray.

West is the No. 4 cornerback and No. 43 overall player in the nation according to 247Sports composite rankings. If Ohio State could land both West and Arron Scott, the No. 6 ranked cornerback, it would be quite a haul for a team that has struggled in the secondary the past few seasons.

West has official visits set with Michigan this weekend, USC on June 16, and Ohio State on June 23.

4-star CB Bryce West names top schools

Four-star cornerback recruit Bryce West names his top schools including Georgia and Ohio State

Four-star cornerback recruit Bryce West is considered the top ranked recruit in Ohio, so he is a major recruiting target for the Ohio State Buckeyes. West, a member of the class of 2024, recently announced his top seven schools.

The four-star defensive back put Ohio State, Georgia, Michigan, Alabama, USC, Oregon, and Texas A&M in his list of top schools.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound cornerback is the No. 4 player at his position in the 2024 recruiting cycle. Bryce West is the No. 43 recruit in the nation, per 247Sports.

West has recently visited Ohio State and Oregon. He has an official visit planned with the Michigan Wolverines from June 9-11. The elite defensive back recruit is also a great track athlete. West has excellent speed.

Bryce West plays high school football for Glenville High School in Cleveland, Ohio. Here’s a look at a race from one of West’ recent indoor track events:

Ohio State is currently favored to land a commitment from Bryce West, per 247Sports.

No. 4 CB in 2024 class puts Ducks among top schools

No. 4 CB in 2024 class puts Ducks among top schools

Demetrice Martin, Chris Hampton, and Dan Lanning have been doing a great job of recruiting some of the most elite defensive backs in the nation this past cycle, and it looks like they might not be done on that front either.

4-star cornerback Bryce West is among the top players available at that position in the 2024 class, and he recently listed his top 7 schools, keeping the Oregon Ducks in the mix with teams like Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, and Michigan.

West is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 4 cornerback in the class, and the No. 43 player overall. He is also rated as the No. 1 player in the state of Ohio, and is currently heavily projected to commit to the in-state Buckeyes.

West took a visit to Eugene back in March, and if Lanning and the staff play their cards right, they could be in the mix to get an official visit from the blue-chip CB as well.

Michigan football makes top group for other top 2024 priority in Ohio

Can #Michigan overcome the odds and steal him away from Ohio State?

Michigan football is working overtime to secure players from the state of Ohio. The Wolverines currently have four commits from the Buckeye State – offensive linemen Luke Hamilton and Ben Roebuck, defensive lineman Ted Hammond, and running back Jordan Marshall.

The top priority is now securing one (or both) of the top-flight cornerbacks, which is easier said than done. Both Aaron Scott and Bryce West have offers from in-state school, Ohio State, and the Buckeyes covet both in the worst way.

Scott already put the Wolverines in his top group, and now West has as well. Michigan has struck out with most Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville prospects (the high school coached by Ted Ginn Sr.), and hasn’t reeled in a player from the storied program since defensive end Frank Clark. However, the four-star cornerback released his top seven on Wednesday, and the maize and blue made the cut, along with OSU, Georgia, Alabama, USC, Oregon, and Texas A&M.

The scouting report via 247Sports’ Allen Trieu:

Has enough size and measureables to project to a high major level. Has a track background and has run as fast as 10.93 in the 100-meter dash and 6.96 in the 60-meter dash. Also has offensive snaps and has shown himself to be a breakaway threat as a running back. Has played man for his school and also shown he can do that in a camp or workout setting. Shows good ball skills. Will put his nose in the action and lay a hit. Doesn’t show a single elite trait but is solid in every area. Continuing to add polish while building upon his quicks and long speed, which are already good, are keys for his developmental future.

Ohio State is currently the overwhelming favorite, with seven predictions all indicating he’ll remain in-state and play for the Buckeyes.

However, the Wolverines can make a big push when West arrives in Ann Arbor for his official visit, which begins this weekend, starting on June 9.

Michigan football in top group for a big Ohio target

It’ll be tough to beat out Ohio State, but Michigan is making it interesting!

Michigan has done a great job at grabbing fantastic talent in the 2024 recruiting class. The Wolverines are starting to shift their focus back on Ohio and the maize and blue are generating some buzz from the Ohio recruits.

The Wolverines already have four Ohio natives committed to them for the 2024 cycle, including one of the top-ranked running backs in the country, Jordan Marshall.

Michigan is also in the running, if not leading, for three other top Ohio targets. Edge Brian Robinson and corners Aaron Scott and Bryce West. West just announced his top seven schools he will consider and Michigan made the cut. Ohio State, Oregon, Texas A&M, USC, Alabama, and Georgia round out the final seven.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, West is the top-ranked player in Ohio. He is the 43rd overall player in the 2024 cycle and the fourth-best corner. The 5-foot-11 corner plays high school football in Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville.

The Buckeyes will be tough to beat to get West. There are currently seven Crystal Ball predictions in on West to end up at Ohio State.

Here is Allen Trieu’s scouting report on West via 247Sports.

Continuing to add polish while building upon his quicks and long speed, which are already good, are keys for his developmental future.

West is scheduled to take an official visit to Michigan this weekend on June 9. Afterward, he will take visits to USC (June 16) and Ohio State (June 23).

One of Michigan football’s top 2024 CB targets from Ohio sets official visit

Gotta pull out all the stops on this one! #GoBlue

Michigan football is working overtime to try and lure a pair of defensive backs from the Buckeye state to play their college football in Ann Arbor.

Whether or not the Wolverines are succeeding, that remains to be seen, but both Aaron Scott and Bryce West are giving the maize and blue strong consideration.

We already got news of 2024 cornerback Terhyon Nichols from Cincinnati (Ohio) Withrow setting an official visit on June 23, and Scott has been a frequent visitor to Ann Arbor. But West appears to be a little more of a longshot.

Yet, he set up an official visit and will be in Ann Arbor on June 9. The four-star cornerback will visit USC the following weekend, and Ohio State the weekend after that.

West hails from traditional OSU-feeder Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville, coached by Ted Ginn Sr. The last prospect Michigan football brought in from Glenville was former edge rusher Frank Clark in 2011.

Ranked the No. 47 player in the country per the 247Sports Composite, West is thought of as a heavy Ohio State lean. He’s got seven 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions, all indicating he’ll eventually become a Buckeye.

The evaluation from 247Sports’ Allen Trieu:

Has enough size and measureables to project to a high major level. Has a track background and has run as fast as 10.93 in the 100-meter dash and 6.96 in the 60-meter dash. Also has offensive snaps and has shown himself to be a breakaway threat as a running back. Has played man for his school and also shown he can do that in a camp or workout setting. Shows good ball skills. Will put his nose in the action and lay a hit. Doesn’t show a single elite trait but is solid in every area. Continuing to add polish while building upon his quicks and long speed, which are already good, are keys for his developmental future.

It will be a tough pull, but a solid visit — of course, West has made plenty — could help the Wolverines make a push for the elite cornerback.

Ohio State football commit trying to help recruit another in-state target

Nave Jr. wants to see West link up with him in Columbus #GoBucks

It wasn’t that long ago when in-state offensive lineman [autotag]Marc Nave Jr.[/autotag] committed to Ohio State. He knew where he wanted to go and a spring visit helped seal the deal.

Now that Nave is in the fold, he’s looking to keep some of the best recruits from leaving the state. The lineman isn’t just looking at his own position group or even his side of the ball; he’s looking for the best prospects.

Enter Cleveland Glenville cornerback [autotag]Bryce West[/autotag]. He is rated as the No. 4 player at his position and 49th overall in the county according to the 247Sports composite.

The defender is on Nave’s list of players he would like to see join him in Columbus, and Nave has been going hard after him to try to add him to the 2024 class. See this tweet as proof.

West holds numerous offers from all across the country and is a priority Ohio State target, and Nave is doing his best to help out.

5-star CB Bryce West to take visit to Oregon this spring

5-star CB Bryce West is expected to take a visit to Eugene later this spring.

The Oregon Ducks seem to be in good standing with one of the top cornerbacks in the 2024 class.

5-star cornerback Bryce West, the No. 5 CB in the 2024 class and No. 26 overall player in the nation will reportedly be taking a visit to Eugene this spring, according to a report from 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong. West is rated as the No. 1 player in the state of Ohio and says that the Ducks have been making a heavy push for him recently, working hard to get him on campus.

At the moment, Oregon has a 2024 recruiting class that ranks inside the top 10 nationally, and they will work hard to try and add some star power over the coming months as they get into the start of the 2023 season.
