How to watch, stream, and listen to Saints vs. Panthers game in Week 1

The season is finally here! How to watch, stream, and listen to Sunday’s New Orleans Saints vs. Carolina Panthers game in Week 1:

The season is finally here! Your New Orleans Saints will soon kick off their 2024 regular season against the division-rival Carolina Panthers in front of a raucous home crowd, and we’re eager to see if their work this offseason has paid off with improvements over last year’s results.

Here’s how you can tune in to the FOX Sports broadcast, which will be carried locally in each team’s home market. Chris Myers and Mark Schlereth  are on the call from the booth, and Jen Hale will be reporting from the sideline:

  • What: New Orleans Saints (0-0) vs. Carolina Panthers (0-0)
  • Where: Caesars Superdome, New Orleans, La.
  • When: Sunday, Sept. 8, Noon CT (1 p.m. ET)

Streaming options include FuboTV (try it free) in each team’s regional market, with fans outside that range able to stream with NFL Sunday Ticket via YouTube TV.

If you’re listening in over the radio, WWL 870 AM or 105.3 FM (and its local affiliate stations) with Mike Hoss and Deuce McAllister. The game is available on WRFX 99.7 FM The Fox in Charlotte as well as its affiliate stations.

Both teams have a lot to prove. The Panthers need to sell their fans on Dave Canales as an able replacement for well-liked but quickly-fired head coach Frank Reich, while the Saints must assure their own supporters that Dennis Allen can end the three-year playoff drought he’s found himself in. It’s going to be a long journey for each side, and everything starts on Sunday.

How to watch, stream, and listen to Saints vs. 49ers preseason game

How to watch, stream, and listen to Sunday night’s New Orleans Saints vs. San Francisco 49ers preseason game:

We’re already onto the second week of NFL preseason games with the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers kicking off on Sunday night. This will be a nationally-broadcast game carried on FOX affiliates around the country; Adam Amin and Mark Sanchez are on the call.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • What: New Orleans Saints at San Francisco 49ers
  • Where: Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, Calif.
  • When: Sunday, Aug. 18, 7 p.m. CT (5 p.m. California time)

You can stream the game for free on Fubo TV (try it here), as well as a paid streaming option on NFL+. If you’re planning to listen in over the radio, tune in to WWL 870 AM or 105.3 FM with Mike Hoss and Deuce McAllister. Fans in the Bay Area should check into KGO 810 AM for the local broadcast.

This should be an interesting matchup. The Saints were set to host the 49ers for two days of joint practices at their training camp in Irvine, but San Francisco bowed out after sustaining too many injuries over the summer. New Orleans is also dealing with a host of their own injuries but they plan on playing their starters to make up for lost reps against the 49ers. How many snaps Derek Carr and the starting offense needs remains to be seen, but their performance last week is enough proof to suggest they need the practice before the regular season begins in September.

Here’s everything you need to tune in:

  • What: New Orleans Saints at Arizona Cardinals
  • Where: State Farm Stadium, Glendale, Ariz.
  • When: Saturday, Aug. 10, 7 p.m. CT (5 p.m. Arizona time)

You can stream the game for free on Fubo TV (try it here), television coverage will be limited to local markets for both sides. Fans in and around  New Orleans can watch it on WVUE FOX 8 or neighboring affiliate stations. Joel Meyers and Jon Stinchcomb will call the game from the booth with Erin Summers reporting from thee sideline. If you’re planning to listen in over the radio, tune in to WWL 870 AM or 105.3 FM, with Mike Hoss and Deuce McAllister returning to the press box.

The Saints plan on playing their starters for at least a few drives to help Derek Carr and his teammates settle into Klint Kubiak’s new offense in a real game situation, but the Cardinals have already chosen to keep Kyler Murray on the bench throughout their preseason. We’ll see what the plan is next week when the Saints host the San Francisco 49ers for a couple of joint practices before their next exhibition game, but for now all eyes are on Arizona.

Tom Brady won’t make his broadcasting debut with Saints preseason game

Tom Brady won’t make his broadcasting debut with a Saints preseason game. He’s always looked a little rattled by the black and gold:

Is Tom Brady any good at broadcasting? That’s what we’re about to find out. FOX Sports paid handsomely to get the retired quarterback into the booth with play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt, and his first opportunity to try out this new role comes on Aug. 18 when the New Orleans Saints visit the San Francisco 49ers for a nationally-broadcast preseason game.

But Brady won’t be on the call, per former USA Today columnist Rudy Martzke. FOX Sports wants to wait and introduce him in Week 1’s regular season game between the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns, so instead it’ll be Adam Amin and Mark Sanchez on the mic for the Saints-49ers exhibition game.

It makes sense if Brady is uncomfortable seeing the Saints again so soon. They beat him more often and more handily than any other opponent in his storied NFL career, and they ran him out of the NFC South and into retirement. Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers were swept twice in the 2020 and 2021 regular seasons, and no team posted a higher career points differential against him than the Saints.

Brady will have to see them again in his new capacity at some point — their late-afternoon matchups on FOX with the Los Angeles Chargers and Rams in Weeks 9 and 13 stand out — but it won’t be this soon. And we’re imagining he’s at least a little grateful for that.

Report: NBC wants two Wisconsin football games in its primetime slot in 2024

NBC wants two Wisconsin games in its primetime slot in 2024

NBC wants two Wisconsin football games in its 7:30 p.m. primetime slot this season, according to the Action Network’s Brett McMurphy.

Those two games are Oct. 26 vs. Penn State and Nov. 16 vs. Oregon.

Related: Wisconsin full 2024 football schedule with locations, kick times and TV channels

The note comes as McMurphy released NBC’s ‘preferred primetime lineup’ for the entire 2024 season. Other notable contests include Ohio State at Oregon, Michigan at Washington and USC at UCLA.

The list is what NBC wants its primetime broadcast lineup to be, not which games will definitely be in it. More so, this release is a peak under the hood at the negotiations between Fox, CBS and NBC — the three networks that own the Big Ten’s television rights.

The timing aligns with the three networks taking turns publicly releasing some of their top games of the season.

Wisconsin has four game dates and broadcast information thus far — the three out-of-conference matchups and rivalry weekend vs. Minnesota. The marquee out-of-conference matchup vs. Alabama will be Fox Big Noon Kickoff. Badgers fans would welcome seeing both the Penn State and Oregon moved to primetime.

Social media roasted a Wisconsin legend during the Super Bowl broadcast

What did you think of JJ Watt’s hair?

Wisconsin legend and recently retired NFL star J.J. Watt’s name was trending during the Super Bowl last night, though not necessarily for the right reason.

Watt is part of CBS’s NFL coverage and was front-and-center for the network’s halftime show before Usher’s performance. The future Hall of Famer decided to switch his hairstyle in advance of this broadcast, thinking nobody would really notice.

He was severely mistaken. The internet reacted the same way: “What did Watt do to his hair?”

With that, he somehow became one of the names trending during the year’s biggest television event in the nation — and he wasn’t even playing.

Watt cleared the air afterward, again saying he thought nobody would notice:

Here was some of the social media reaction to Watt’s hair last night:
