Here’s where 49ers ranked in attendance for 2023

It’s going to be hard for the #49ers to get much higher on the NFL’s overall attendance ranking:

The 49ers entered the 2024 season as a true Super Bowl contender. Their biggest question mark, Brock Purdy’s surgically repaired elbow, didn’t even need the entire preseason to get an answer. San Francisco was one of the NFL’s best teams on paper going into the season and they continued to be that throughout the season.

Despite the offseason hype and continued strong play, the 49ers couldn’t crack the top of the NFL’s attendance leaderboard for the 2023 season.

One problem here for San Francisco is that Levi’s Stadium is on the smaller side. Just 13 stadiums have a lower capacity than Levi’s.

Because of that, the 49ers’ place in the attendance ranking suffered in 2023. Here’s the full rank:

Bobby Wagner responds to streaker’s police report

Wagner is not amused by the streaker’s action, and showed no remorse for his actions.

The Los Angeles Rams have seen their share of drama so far in 2022, but none as bizarre as what has occurred between starting linebacker Bobby Wagner and a streaker who interrupted their Monday night matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. After running onto the field with a device that emitted copious amounts of pink smoke, the streaker was summarily tackled by Wagner and a teammate before being escorted into the custody of law enforcement per standard procedure.

Today, news broke that the hooligan had filed a police report against Wagner, alleging that he was the victim of a “blatant assault” by the pair of Rams, which may open the door to legal recourse depending on the results of the Santa Clara Police Department’s findings.

Wagner responded to the report’s filing on Wednesday, saying that he had been apprised of the situation.

“I’m aware of it,” Wagner said. “[But] I’m more concerned about the security guard who got hurt trying to chase him.”

His total disregard for the safety of the streaker is on-brand for a player who put a swift end to stadium shenanigans in primetime. Especially on the road, players must always be aware of their surroundings and the behavior of fans who may be quick to make their mark on the game unnecessarily.

In the event that Wagner faces any legal trouble over the incident, the Rams organization would likely provide any council necessary to make sure any charges brought against him would be quickly dismissed. After a loss on the road, potential court proceedings are the last thing that the team wants its star players to worry about, especially as they head into the meat of their grueling 17-game schedule.

Fan leveled by Bobby Wagner at Levi’s Stadium is seeking legal recourse

The streaker who was leveled by Wagner on Monday night filed a police report against the #Rams linebacker

One of the more bizarre aspects of the Los Angeles Rams’ Week 4 loss was an incident that occurred between a streaker and starting linebacker Bobby Wagner. Just before halftime, the fan made his way onto the field, and was subsequently subdued by Wagner with a ferocious hit that swiftly ended his 15 seconds of fame.

Armed with a pink flare-like device, the fan was arrested, and few thought much of the situation until Wednesday afternoon when the streaker filed a police report with the Santa Clara Police Department.

Whether his report will lead to any formal investigation is unclear at this juncture, though it would seem he will still be held liable for his disruption of Monday night’s game regardless of the outcome. He and his representatives are claiming that a “blatant assault” by Wagner and another Rams player took place, but the veracity of their statement in the eyes of the law is to be determined.

While Los Angeles would have much rather come out victorious in the matchup and spared the streaker, the legacy of this incident is sure to continue causing a stir in the media in the weeks to come. If any charges are formally filed against Wagner and his teammate, the franchise will likely get their legal team on the case to mitigate any recourse the unruly fan might have.

A fan carrying a pink smoke flare ran onto the field late in the first half of Monday night’s showdown between the Rams and 49ers. The fan evaded security as he made his way toward the Rams sideline. He didn’t get far up that sideline though. Rams defensive end Takk McKinley started chasing the fan and nearly got to him, but Rams linebacker Bobby Wagner stepped in and leveled the field invader. Security took over from there to neutralize the threat.

Sean McVay on fixing Rams’ issues on the road against 49ers: ‘This game is going to be different’

McVay knows the #Rams’ recent road record against the #49ers and is looking forward to the challenge of facing them in primetime.

Following their torrid start to the 2022 season, the Los Angeles Rams are heading into their Monday night matchup against the San Francisco 49ers with the wind at their back. Despite countless injuries and a particularly challenging schedule, the team has thrived so far this year, but one variable has tainted the narrative of their Week 4 primetime matchup; their abysmal record at Levi’s Stadium in recent seasons.

Los Angeles has lost their last three of their matchups against San Francisco on the road, in a streak that dates back to 2019. Head coach Sean Mcvay is acutely aware of the challenges presented when playing the 49ers on their home turf and told reporters on Monday about the reverence he has for the their roster and coaches, and what he knows what it will take to end the Rams’ losing stretch.

“I think the main thing is they’re a really good football team,” He explained of San Francisco. “They’ve done a good job [against us]. Which year do you want to talk about? We could talk about all those different games, but I think at the end of the day what it boils down to is they’ve played well, they’ve made the plays in crunch time… They’ve always been a good, tough, physical team that has great players, great coaches in all three phases and that’s why we’ve always had such respect for these guys.

“But we know that this game is going to be different than the other ones. We’ve got to be able to show up, play well in that three-hour window, or three and a half hours, however long it takes. That’s what our focus and concentration will be solely focused on. No different than when we had to play them for the third time last year.”

The 49ers might not be the Super Bowl caliber squad they were in 2020, but McVay’s comments made it clear that he does not see San Francisco as an easy target. Los Angeles will be forced to rely on a slew of relatively unproven players after sustaining a plethora of injuries the last two months, and their coaching staff will likely need to amend their gameplan to compensate for the team’s inexperience.

In primetime, and with their lead in the NFC West at stake, the Rams will rely on McVay’s creativity and savvy to win in San Francisco on Monday night. If those veterans who have remained unscathed can pick up whatever slack is left by the younger talent, Los Angeles should be able to put themselves in a position to pick up their third win of the season with the whole nation watching.
