Rams free agent Mike Thomas signs with Bengals

Mike Thomas spent the last four years with the Rams.

The departures keep coming for the Los Angeles Rams with yet another player signing elsewhere. According to the league’s transaction wire, the Bengals have signed free agent Mike Thomas.

Thomas spent the last four years with the Rams, but he contributed very little as a wide receiver. He caught 10 passes for 144 yards since 2016, playing just 238 total snaps on offense. He mostly played special teams as a gunner, using his speed in that phase of the game.

Last season, he appeared in all 16 games but played just 34 snaps on offense.

Thomas reunites with Zac Taylor, who was previously the Rams’ assistant wide receivers coach in 2017 and quarterbacks coach in 2018.

Report: Chargers agree to deal with LB Nick Vigil

The Los Angeles Chargers add some much needed linebacker depth and special teams help.

The Chargers added a member to the linebacker room on Tuesday.

LB Nick Vigil and Los Angeles have agreed to terms, according to Adam Caplan.

The contract details have yet to be announced.

The Bolts released Thomas Davis prior to the start of the new league year and they lost a few key special teamers to various, which left some spots that needed to be filled.

Vigil, the 26-year old, played the past four season with the Bengals. In 2019, he posted 111 total tackles, one sack and one forced fumbles.

Touted as one of the better coverage linebackers from this crop of free agents, Vigil amassed 14 passes defensed and two interceptions since the 2016 regular season.

Seahawks make signing of tackle Cedric Ogbuehi official

The Seattle Seahawks have now officially announced the signing of former Jaguars and Bengals tackle, Cedric Ogbuehi.

The Seattle Seahawks have confirmed yet another free-agent signing that was reported last week. Seattle has now officially announced tackle Cedric Ogbuehi is under contract.

Seattle has been busy over the last few days but followed the NFL Management Council’s request via memo, which instructed teams not to announce any new deals until contracts had actually been signed.

Ogbuehi was originally selected by the Bengals with the No. 21 overall pick in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft out of Texas A&M. After four seasons in Cincinnati, the teams decided not to exercise his fifth-year option and he became an unrestricted free agent. He then signed a one-year deal with the Jaguars in 2019.

Ogbuehi will likely provide depth on the line throughout the offseason as he competes for a spot on the roster. He also has some experience at tight end and could look to replace George Fant in that role.

The Seahawks also officially announced the signing of center/guard B.J. Finney this afternoon as well. You can track all Seattle’s reported free-agent moves here.

Bengals use franchise tag on potential Bills target AJ Green

The Bills’ path to potentially landing wide receiver AJ Green took a hit on Monday. With the deadline to franchise tag players approaching, the Bengals did exactly that, tagging Green, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

The Bills’ path to potentially landing wide receiver AJ Green took a hit on Monday. With the deadline to franchise tag players approaching, the Bengals did exactly that, tagging Green, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

It was previously expected the Bengals would do so, but what’s remained to be seen is how Green reacts to the news. Green’s tagging is the first time since 2013 the Bengals have tagged a player.

If the Bengals want to re-sign Green to longer deal, they’ll now have until July 15 to do so, or else Green will play the 2020 season on the tag. While most players don’t like the franchise tag because they want long-term contracts, Green will play for approximately $18 million next year. So he won’t be mad about that part.

While players will sometimes derail a situation once being franchise tagged, Green doesn’t seem to be that type of individual who would try to get out of it by forcing a move. However, there was some speculation that he could have returned to the field in 2019 toward the end of the season, but opted not to. He missed the entire season with foot/ ankle injuries.

In terms of the Bengals, tagging Green is likely a move for their No. 1 overall pick, which is going to be LSU quarterback Joe Burrow. Not a bad receiver for him to have. Someone Bills quarterback Josh Allen could have benefited from as well.

NFL Mock Draft includes big trade up by Chargers

Previewing the 2020 NFL Mock Draft includes big trade up in the first round by the Los Angeles Chargers

The 2020 NFL offseason is set to begin next week as teams will start signing veteran free agents. Expect some of the league’s biggest stars to switch teams and for multiple trades to occur over the next two weeks.

But today, we look at a pre-free agency mock draft that features a big trade inside the top 10 of the draft. So without further ado, let’s get to the mock draft!

1. Cincinnati Bengals: QB Joe Burrow, LSU

While there has been some uncertainty regarding where the Bengals may go with the first-overall selection, Joe Burrow is simply the best player in this draft. He should thrive in Zac Taylor’s offense with the number of weapons at his disposal.

2. Washington Redskins: DE Chase Young, Ohio State

The Redskins will surely get several offers for this pick from quarterback-needy teams, but they stay put and draft the best non-quarterback in the class in Chase Young. With an established defensive line, the Redskins add an elite pass rusher that could help them become one of the top defenses in the league rather quickly.

3. Los Angeles Chargers (via trade): QB Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama

The first big trade of the draft occurs at No. 3 as the Chargers jump ahead of the Miami Dolphins to select Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The move likely costs the Chargers two second-round picks over the next two seasons, but Tagovailoa is an elite quarterback prospect that could turn around a franchise.

With Jason Garrett now in charge of the Giants’ offense, look for him to try to rebuild the offensive line to protect Daniel Jones. Tristan Wirfs might be the best tackle in the class and can play multiple positions. He’s a Day 1 starter at either tackle spot for the Giants.

5. Miami Dolphins: OT Mekhi Becton, Louisville

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is off the board, which leaves Justin Herbert and Jordan Love at quarterback. Instead of reaching on one of those passers, the Dolphins will draft the best offensive tackle available to help protect Ryan Fitzpatrick in 2020.
