Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito joked with Michael Keaton about Batman villainy during Oscars

HOLY OSCARS, BATMAN!

The co-stars of the 1990s comedy Twins (and Hollywood legends) Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito reunited at the 96th Academy Awards to present two Oscars for Visual Effects and Editing.

However, the two started their time on stage complaining about how, as two previous on-screen Batman villains, they could never get past the Caped Crusader.

DeVito played The Penguin in Batman Returns, while Schwarzenegger played Mr. Freeze in Batman and Robin.

Well, one of the most recognizable Batmans in the world, Michael Keaton, was in the crowd, and Schwarzenegger and DeVito took their villainous grievances right to Bruce Wayne himself to the delight of the crowd.

Seriously, how awesome was this? It’s really not every day that you get to see two former Batman villains finally get their opportunity to let a former Batman know what they really think in front of the world, but that’s what the Oscars are for!

This is one of those moments that makes us really grateful for the Academy Awards.

Batman Arkham trilogy on Switch has a release date now

A few months after the Batman Arkham trilogy for Switch debuted during a Nintendo Direct, Rocksteady finally announced a release date

A few months after the Batman Arkham trilogy for Switch turned up during the June Nintendo Direct, Rocksteady and Nintendo finally announced a release date for the Batman game collection. The Arkham trilogy for Switch launches on the fitting date of Oct. 13, 2023, a Friday the 13th smack in the middle of spooky season.

It’s a beefy package, too. The trilogy includes all three games, of course, along with every expansion for each. There’s quite a lot of DLC, especially for the final game, Arkham Knight, including a full Batgirl prequel, Catwoman as a playable character, and even a bundle of Batmobile race tracks if you want to take a break with some superhero racing.

Arkham Asylum is where it all started, Rocksteady said in a press release. “Featuring an original story, players move in the shadows as Batman to instill fear amongst enemies and confront The Joker and Gotham City’s most notorious villains, including Harley Quinn, Bane, Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, and Scarecrow, who have taken over the asylum [in a] unique, dark, and atmospheric adventure.”

That adventure culminates with Arkham Knight, with a boatload of DC heroes and villains turning up for the grand finale, including Oracle, Nightwing, Firefly, the Riddler, and Batgirl.

Pre-orders for the collection aren’t open yet, and there’s no price information on Nintendo’s eShop page.

Why so serious? The Dark Knight fans celebrate its 15th anniversary

Believe it or not, The Dark Knight is 15 years old.

Fifteen years ago, the modern blockbuster changed forever as Christopher Nolan’s seismic superhero/crime epic The Dark Knight hit theaters.

The film opened July 18, 2008, making a billion dollars globally and winning Best Supporting Actor at the Academy Awards for the late Heath Ledger’s iconic performance as the Joker.

The Dark Knight was a tonal game changer for the way that studios approached intellectual property, kicking off a darker, more grounded take on comic book stories and beloved franchises alike.

Whether it’s the monumental truck flip or the Batman/Joker interrogation scene, Ledger’s clown prince said it best. This movie changed things.

It’s become one of the most celebrated and revered studio films of the 21st century, and the film’s many fans wished it a happy 15th anniversary on Tuesday.

Ranking the DCEU movies ahead of The Flash, including Zack Snyder’s Justice League and Wonder Woman

The DCEU isn’t long for this world, but we’ve got plenty of movies to rank from its decade-plus run.

The DC Extended Universe is nearing its end as filmmaker James Gunn takes over DC, and it’s time to look back on the series that started with 2013’s Man of Steel.

The post-Christopher Nolan Batman movies have had their high ups and low downs.

There were great moments like the arrival of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and terrible ones like the mangled version of Justice League that fans got in 2017.

Ahead of this weekend’s The Flash, let’s take a look back at most all the DCEU movies that have come out within the past decade (with the exception of March’s Shazam!: Fury of the Gods, which we turned off after less than 10 minutes because life is simply too short).

What We Learned from James Gunn’s DC Universe Announcement (Batman! Superman! Swamp Thing?!)

DC fans can rejoice that a new wave of film and television projects have been revealed.

After months of promising big changes, the DC universe has officially received its first official reset courtesy of filmmaker James Gunn and producer Peter Safran.

Gunn, a Marvel vet, came over to DC a few years ago to take on 2021’s The Suicide Squad and found a permanent home last fall as the comic book studio’s new film and television co-chief.

On Tuesday, Gunn made his grand reveal of the studio’s first steps in its new film and television plan. He led his announcement with a pretty honest assessment of how things have been going on the DC side of the fence for some time.

“As many of you know, DC has been disconnected in film and television for a long time,” Gunn said in the video. “It’s one of our jobs … to come in and make sure the [DC Universe] is connected in film, television, gaming and animation, that the characters are consistent, played by the same actors, and it works within one story.”

The first chapter of the “DCU” will reportedly be titled “Gods and Monsters.”

Gunn added that already established projects, like Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe and Todd Phillip’s Joker films, will get the branding of “DC Elseworlds,” meaning that they’ll veer away from the newly forming “DCU.”

Gunn teased a number of big DC projects and gave clarity on some others. Let’s break down below what the highlights were.

Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy has died, age 66

Conroy brought the animated Batman to life countless times across film, TV, and video games, including the Batman Arkham trilogy

Kevin Conroy, the actor who gave voice to Batman in Batman: The Animated Series, the Batman Arkham games, MultiVersus, and in over a dozen other films, TV shows, and video games, has died at age 66 after battling an unspecified illness. Fellow actor Diane Pershing, who voiced Pamela Isley in The Animated Series, first announced the news in a Facebook post, where she said Conroy had been battling an illness for “a while,” but still tried to put in appearances at conventions and spend time with fans.

Some commenters reported that Catwoman voice actress Adrienne Barbeau had also posted about Conroy’s death on Nov. 10, 2022, but removed the post shortly after. At the time of publication, neither Conroy’s agent nor family has issued an official statement.

Mark Hamill, who voiced the Joker opposite Conroy’s Batman in Mask of the Phantasm and again throughout Batman: The Animated Series, mourned the loss of a friend in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Kevin was perfection,” he said. “He was one of my favorite people on the planet, and I loved him like a brother. He truly cared for the people around him – his decency shone through everything he did. Every time I saw him or spoke with him, my spirits were elevated.”

Conroy earned a bachelor’s of fine arts from Juilliard School and began his media career as a TV actor as Jerry Grove in Another World and Ted Kennedy in the 1983 TV mini-series Kennedy. He went on to appear in character roles in other popular ‘80s shows, including Matlock and Murphy Brown, before doing what he described as the risky move of putting his own spin on Batman for the animated series, following Tim Burton’s revival of the DC hero in 1992.

Jason Kelce called himself ‘Fat Batman’ then broke out a mask on the Eagles sideline to prove it

Swole Batman. Skinny Batman. Fast Batman. And now, Fat Batman?

Jason Kelce was apparently feeling left out by all of the Batmans on the Philadelphia Eagles.

The team’s top wideouts earned the nickname from cornerback Darius Slay back in September, when the Eagles were just 2-0 and their current standing as the NFL’s only remaining undefeated team was a mere pipe dream.

A.J. Brown was swole Batman. Devonta Smith was skinny Batman. Quez Watkins was fast Batman.

“No Robins. We’ve ain’t got no sidekicks,” Slay said at the time.

In the following weeks, the group got a cape to take the bit to the next level. But Kelce, who fancies himself as a Batman too, told brother Travis on their podcast last week he wanted the cape.

“Listen, if we score on a screen, I’m getting that cape and I’m being fat Batman,” Kelce said.

Well, that screen never came for Kelce in Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. But there were plenty of touchdowns to go around in the 35-13 blowout, including three for swole Batman. So instead of the cape, Kelce had to settle for Batman’s mask.

He broke it out on the sideline while the game was still going on, and it was the perfect prop for the Sunday before Halloween.

The Eagles are now 7-0, and this is just another example of how fun they are. Their odds to win the Super Bowl are up to +550 at BetMGM, second only to the Bills at +230.

Twitter reacts to Eagles trio of wide receivers wearing Batman t-shirts during pregame warmups

Devonta Smith, A.J. Brown, and Quez Watkins broke out the Batman T-Shirts for pregame warmups ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles matchup vs. the Dallas Cowboys

The showdown is here, and the Cowboys are in Philadelphia for an NFC East matchup against the Eagles on NBC Sunday Night Football.

After Philadelphia’s season-opening win, Darius Slay helped avoid any controversy at wide receiver by calling all three starters Batman without a Robin.

Slay labeled A.J. Brown “Swole” Batman, labeled DeVonta Smith “Skinny” Batman, and gave Quez Watkins the nickname “Fast” Batman.

On Sunday night at Lincoln Financial Field, all three players broke out the Batman tee shirts during pregame warmup, and social media exploded.

From West to Bale, a ranking of the best movie versions of Batman

Who is the best Batman?

Robert Pattinson’s first foray as the Caped Crusader with The Batman is hitting theaters March 4. He’s the latest in a long line of actors to take on the iconic superhero, and early returns are good.

Reviews are praising the film, with Rotten Tomatoes giving the DCEU addition a “Certified Fresh” rating at 85 percent. Matt Reeves directs as Pattinson’s Batman faces off against the Riddler and the Penguin with the help of Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman).

It has a long run time — an impressive two hours and 56 minutes — but 92 percent of audiences have given the movie a thumbs up.

In honor of Pattinson donning the tell-tale mask, we decided to rank some of the previous Gotham defenders. Keep in mind, this only takes into account their performance as Batman, not as Bruce Wayne, and does not include Pattinson (yet).

Robert Pattinson wore an oversized suit to ‘The Batman’ premiere and NBA fans all made the same joke

“With the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, The Batman selects….”

European audiences finally got a look at the newest caped crusader as The Batman premiered in London. That meant the stars of the film were all there, too, with actor/model/spokesman Robert Pattinson getting the full red carpet treatment before his debut as Bruce Wayne.

Now, in the world of high fashion, Pattinson’s choice to wear an oversized suit on the red carpet was seen as just the latest installment of Pattinson’s distinct personal taste.

Here’s how Liam Hess of Vogue described the outfit:

“Pattinson wore a look designed by Luke and Lucie Meier for Jil Sander—and with the couple’s reputation for delivering slick but playful riffs on tailoring staples, it was a match made in red carpet heaven. Pattinson’s oversized gray suit carried all of the grunge-inspired flair the actor likes to bring to the classic red carpet suit, worn with a sleek black turtleneck, minimalist leather boots, and a thick silver chain bracelet by Chrome Hearts.”

Once the outfit made its way over to NBA Twitter, however, basketball fans could only assume Pattinson had traveled back in time to attend the 2003 Draft.

Lest we forget, the 2003 NBA draft class featured LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Chris Kaman, Kirk Hinrich, Nick Collison, David West, Boris Diaw, Josh Howard, Kyle Korver and Mo Williams.

Hopefully the new Batman film will be just as good and Pattinson is paying homage to the greats who wore baggy suits before him.
