Ranking the DCEU movies ahead of The Flash, including Zack Snyder’s Justice League and Wonder Woman

The DCEU isn’t long for this world, but we’ve got plenty of movies to rank from its decade-plus run.

The DC Extended Universe is nearing its end as filmmaker James Gunn takes over DC, and it’s time to look back on the series that started with 2013’s Man of Steel.

The post-Christopher Nolan Batman movies have had their high ups and low downs.

There were great moments like the arrival of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and terrible ones like the mangled version of Justice League that fans got in 2017.

Ahead of this weekend’s The Flash, let’s take a look back at most all the DCEU movies that have come out within the past decade (with the exception of March’s Shazam!: Fury of the Gods, which we turned off after less than 10 minutes because life is simply too short).

Justice League Cosmic Chaos is an open-world DC adventure for all ages

A new open-world Justice League game from Outright hopes to offer something for young action fans and longtime DC lovers alike

If Suicide Squad seems too dark for the younger crowd, and Gotham Knights is too complicated, then Outright games hopes it has the answer with their new Justice League game, Justice League: Cosmic Chaos. Outright, makers of My Friend Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol: Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay, positions Cosmic Chaos as an entry point into the DC universe and open-world games in general.

“Working alongside DC and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to bring DC’s Justice League: Cosmic Chaos to life has leveled up the Outright Games portfolio,” Outright CEO Beth Goss said in a statement. “We wanted to create an adventure that honed in on the character traits of our Super-Villains, allowed players to experience iconic superpowers while also creating a fun experience for younger audiences to be introduced to the Justice League universe.”

Cosmic Chaos’ action seems straightforward enough for players of any age and skill level to pick up, with a range of abilities such as Superman’s and Wonder Woman’s truth-infused lasso to help dispense justice and restore peace.

Other elements are designed to appeal to longtime DC fans, such as the inclusion of classic DC villain Starro the Conqueror, a baddy the Justice League first fought in 1960’s The Bold and the Brave No. 28, with cameos from other classic Justice League heroes throughout the campaign.

Justice League: Cosmic Chaos launches March 10, 2023, for PS4 and PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Zack Snyder’s Darkseid photo doesn’t mean his ‘Justice League’ cut will be good

The movie comes out on HBO Now in 2021

Snyder fans, you were right.

After sending just one, single tweet, Zack Snyder’s unreleased cut of the Justice League movie is already so much better than the original 2017 version.

This morning, Snyder sent a tweeted out what seems to be a preview thumbnail from his cut of the Justice League movie set to debut on HBO Now in 2021.

It was a picture of Darkseid — one of the most diabolical, yet captivating, villains in DC Comic lore. He’s one of the main foils of the Justice League. His alien species is classified as “New God” and, if that isn’t terrifying enough, he’s bent on destroying all sentient life across the universe. Basically, he’s Thanos but way worse.

This picture of Darkseid and his intergalactic army sends absolute shivers down your spine as a DC Comics fan.

Now, don’t get me wrong. Seeing this picture and knowing that there is a Justice League movie coming with Darkseid in it is probably going to be the highlight of my week.

But at the same time, it’s so hard for me to actually get excited about this movie.

We’ve got to be honest about DC Comics and their cinematic universe. To this point? It hasn’t been good. And that’s putting it kindly. Their hits since the Dark Knight trilogy have come so few and far between.

Maybe the most critically acclaimed one, Jokerisn’t even a part of their main cinematic universe structure. Out of the ones that are, Wonder Woman is probably the best of them. And that was from 2017.

The original cut of the Justice League film that also came out in 2017 was, maybe, the worst film yet. Snyder was originally the director of the film but he stepped away after the untimely passing of his daughter. The film was passed on to Joss Whedon, but Snyder maintains that the product we saw was not true to the version of the movie originally intended to create.

So there’s hope for this film to be good. But as a DC Comics fan, still, you’ve been burned enough to know not to get your hopes up. After all, this is the same team that came up with the fantastic idea of giving us the B-Side cut of this movie in the first place.

Now, four years later, we’re getting the right version of this? I don’t know, bruh. Something feels off.

This movie can certainly be good — I hope it is! But I’m just not holding my breath.
