Robert Pattinson wore an oversized suit to ‘The Batman’ premiere and NBA fans all made the same joke

“With the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, The Batman selects….”

European audiences finally got a look at the newest caped crusader as The Batman premiered in London. That meant the stars of the film were all there, too, with actor/model/spokesman Robert Pattinson getting the full red carpet treatment before his debut as Bruce Wayne.

Now, in the world of high fashion, Pattinson’s choice to wear an oversized suit on the red carpet was seen as just the latest installment of Pattinson’s distinct personal taste.

Here’s how Liam Hess of Vogue described the outfit:

“Pattinson wore a look designed by Luke and Lucie Meier for Jil Sander—and with the couple’s reputation for delivering slick but playful riffs on tailoring staples, it was a match made in red carpet heaven. Pattinson’s oversized gray suit carried all of the grunge-inspired flair the actor likes to bring to the classic red carpet suit, worn with a sleek black turtleneck, minimalist leather boots, and a thick silver chain bracelet by Chrome Hearts.”

Once the outfit made its way over to NBA Twitter, however, basketball fans could only assume Pattinson had traveled back in time to attend the 2003 Draft.

Lest we forget, the 2003 NBA draft class featured LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Chris Kaman, Kirk Hinrich, Nick Collison, David West, Boris Diaw, Josh Howard, Kyle Korver and Mo Williams.

Hopefully the new Batman film will be just as good and Pattinson is paying homage to the greats who wore baggy suits before him.
