Ohio State freshman Austin Siereveld sheds black stripe

Austin Siereveld becomes the newest freshman welcomed to the Brotherhood. #GoBucks

Black stripe alert! On Wednesday, freshman offensive lineman, Austin Siereveld, became the latest Buckeye to lose his black stripe. Siereveld comes to Ohio State from Middletown, Ohio, and Lakota East High School.

A three-star prospect in the 2023 class, Siereveld is said to be one of the hardest workers on the team. Standing at 6-foot, 5-inches and 320 pounds, the young lineman fits the bill for what it takes to succeed in the trenches of Big Ten football.

Don’t let the three-star rating fool you. Siereveld held offers from all the big boys including, Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and more.

Siereveld becomes the 12th freshman to lose his black stripe this season as the Buckeyes are less than two weeks from the season opener against Indiana.

Current Ohio State interior offensive linemen ranked by the 247Sports composite #GoBucks

TheĀ Ohio State football team has 18 offensive linemen on scholarship and six arrived in Columbus, Ohio, as interior offensive linemen according to 247Sports. We previously provided the list of players ranked as offensive tackles for 247Sports as well as the players listed as guards, but the following are players that held the interior offensive lineman designation.

Now the Ohio State offensive line is in a state of flux, so some of these players may wind up on the interior, and some players that are listed could be moved outside. We will just move forward with how 247Sports had them listed as recruits.

The number one player on this list shouldn’t be surprising as few interior offensive linemen came into Columbus, Ohio, with the type of hype Donovan Jackson did and now he will be expected to be a stud on the 2023 offensive line. Here is a ranking of the scholarship interior offensive linemen on the roster based on their 247Sports recruiting rankings.

Four-star offensive lineman in 2023 class commits to Ohio State

BOOM! Another one for the 2023 class. #GoBucks

The Booms have been sounding off as of late for the Ohio State football program. There were a couple of verbals resulting from the annual spring game, and we now have another one.

This commitment comes from four-star offensive lineman Austin Siereveld, who announced his decision on social media Wednesday. At 6-foot, 5-inches, and 315-pounds out of Lakota East high school in Middletown, Ohio, Siereveld is ranked as the No. 20 interior offensive lineman and 351st overall prospect in the 2023 cycleĀ according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

But don’t let the less than spectacular ranking fool you. Siereveld had a lot of top programs putting the full-court press on him. He chose the Buckeyes over Alabama, Notre Dame, and others.

Siereveld’s commitment brings the total verbal commitments in the 2023 class to an even ten and keeps the momentum building towards what could be another top five to top ten class.

Notre Dame among finalists for offensive lineman who is set to announce commitment Wednesday

Any chance at an upset here?

Notre Dame received their first offensive lineman commitment in the 2023 recruiting class when [autotag]Sam Pendleton[/autotag]Ā announced he’d be attending Notre Dame on April 25.Ā  Could a second offensive lineman commitment be coming soon?

Middletown (Ohio) Lakota product [autotag]Austin Siereveld[/autotag]Ā is set to announce his college choice Wednesday afternoon and the Irish are among the three finalists along with Ohio State and Alabama.

Although finalists for his commitment it would appear that both Notre Dame and Alabama are significant underdogs to land the commitment as all five experts at 247Sports predict him to choose the Buckeyes.

Siereveld is listed at 6-5, 315 pounds and is projected to play on the inside in college.Ā  247Sports rates him as a four-star prospect and the 351st overall prospect in the 2023 recruiting cycle.

You can watch Siereveld announce his college choice today at 3:15 p.m. ET on CBS Sports HQ.

Four-star offensive lineman sets commitment date – Will he pick Ohio State?

In-state product Austin Siereveld will pick between Ohio State, Alabama, and Notre Dame on May 4.

Austin Siereveld is a four-star prospect and the No. 7 overall rated player in the state of Ohio according to 247Sports. The Lakota East High School product (Middletown, Ohio) has good size and is another in-state target for Ryan Day and company.

Siereveld named his top three schools earlier in the month and now it looks like he is ready to make his intentions known. The big offensive lineman shared on her personal Twitter account that he’ll be announcing his commitment on May 4th in the Lakota East gymnasium.

Ohio State is battlingĀ Alabama and Notre Dame for Siereveld’s commitment. While the Buckeyes have been the heavy favorite for quite some time, the Irish are making a late surge to land the O-lineman’s services.

Should Siereveld pick the Buckeyes, he would join two other in-state products on the offensive line in Luke Montgomery and Joshua Padilla.

This would be another big win for the Ohio State coaching staff in keeping the border secure.

Four-star offensive lineman has Ohio State in final three

In-state product and four-star recruit has Ohio State as a finalist.

After getting the news that Ohio State received a verbal commitment from Lakota West product, Malik Hartford, the Buckeyes some more got news from the other side of town. Lakota East (Middletown, Ohio) offensive lineman, Austin SiereveldĀ has trimmed his list and put Ohio State in the final three.

Siereveld is a four-star prospect and the No. 7 overall rated player in the state of Ohio according to 247Sports. He has good size at 6-5 and over 300 pounds.

The other two schools to join OSU as finalists are a couple of heavyweights. Joining the Bucks in the fight for Siereveld areĀ Alabama and Notre Dame.

Ohio State currently has the crystal ball precdictions in its favor. Should Siereveld pick the Buckeyes, he would join two others from the state of Ohio on the offensive line in Luke Montgomery and Joshua Padilla.

Notre Dame in final three for star Ohio offensive lineman

The Irish are still in it

It has been no secret that the Midwestā€™s best state for high school talent is Ohio. It is a state has has a large amount of players, some of which can play anywhere in the country. Lakota East 2023 offensive lineman Austin Siereveld is one of those players.

Earlier this evening the massive six-foot-five-inch and 320-pound offensive mauler released his top-3 school, Ohio State, Alabama and Notre Dame. Just a few months ago Siereveld dropped a top-6, with Iowa, Cincinnati and Michigan not making the final cut. His final three schools are clearly some of the best football teams in the nation.

It remains to be seen what Siereveldā€™s next move is, if heā€™s going to take official visits or when he will commit. What we do know is that the Irish are still in the mix for the linemanā€™s services.

Ohio State makes four-star offensive lineman’s top six

Ohio State makes four-star offensive lineman’s top six #GoBucks

The Ohio State Buckeyes had another good day on the recruiting trail as they landed in the top six schools 2023 offensive lineman Austin Siereveld. The four-star offensive lineman narrowed his final schools down to Alabama, Cincinnati, Iowa, Michigan, Notre Dame, and of course, the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Siereveld is an in-state target from Lakota East, and Ohio State’s new offensive line coach, Justin Frye, has already seen the highly touted prospect in person, attending one of Siereveld’s basketball games last month. At 6-foot, 5-inches, and 315-pounds, Siereveld is seen as a top-notch guard prospect that has the potential to see the field early on in his collegiate career.

The top recruit is already familiar with the Ohio State program not just due to being so close to the school, but because of an unofficial visit he took in October during the Buckeyes’ win over Penn State.

It’s still early in the recruitment process for Sierveld, but we’ll keep an eye on things as they progress.
