Ohio State freshman offensive lineman Josh Padilla sheds black stripe

Josh Padilla makes the official jump into the Brotherhood. #GoBucks

Black stripe alert! Another freshman lineman has been officially welcomed to the Brotherhood. Josh Padilla took another step in the right direction as he shed his black stripe earlier on Monday.

With the season kicking off in just under two weeks, Ohio State is working hard to figure out what the offensive line will look like in 2023. After losing three starters to the NFL draft this past spring there are plenty of voids to fill.

Padilla was a four-star recruit from Dayton, Ohio, and chose the Buckeyes over Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, and Notre Dame.

Padilla may not be ready to contribute much this season as a true freshman but will be an important cog in the offensive line for the next several years. He played right tackle in high school, but projects to move inside at OSU.

Ohio State football class of 2023 scouting report: Joshua Padilla

Ohio State football class of 2023 scouting report: Joshua Padilla #GoBucks

The Ohio State football recruiting class of 2023 is complete and despite some murmurs of negativity in the crowd, this class is fantastic from top to bottom. One of the studs of this class is a four-star interior offensive lineman from their own backyard in Joshua Padilla from Wayne High School in Dayton, Ohio.

Padilla is regarded as a top 230 recruit in the country and a top 15 interior offensive lineman in this class. Padilla will have an uphill battle to see the field early in his Buckeye career with Donovan Jackson, Jakob James, and Matthew Jones etched as likely starters on the interior this season, but he has some intriguing potential.

It is always fun to look at recruiting rankings. The recruiting landscape receives more coverage every year and is a very important aspect of building a program. Still, it is important to remember these players and prospects are not defined by these rankings.

I was diving into the most recent class and trying to figure out which future Buckeye is going to shine brightest and fastest but noticed that the Big Ten as a whole was pretty interesting recruiting-wise this cycle. We already dove into the quarterback position, running back position, wide receiver position, tight end position, offensive tackles, and now we dive into the interior offensive linemen.

The Ohio State football team has 18 offensive linemen on scholarship and six arrived in Columbus, Ohio, as interior offensive linemen according to 247Sports. We previously provided the list of players ranked as offensive tackles for 247Sports as well as the players listed as guards, but the following are players that held the interior offensive lineman designation.

Now the Ohio State offensive line is in a state of flux, so some of these players may wind up on the interior, and some players that are listed could be moved outside. We will just move forward with how 247Sports had them listed as recruits.

The number one player on this list shouldn’t be surprising as few interior offensive linemen came into Columbus, Ohio, with the type of hype Donovan Jackson did and now he will be expected to be a stud on the 2023 offensive line. Here is a ranking of the scholarship interior offensive linemen on the roster based on their 247Sports recruiting rankings.

What do you think about these rankings? #GoBucks

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that certainly is the case with [autotag]ESPN[/autotag] and the 2023 [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] football recruiting class.

There are certain attributes that prospect evaluators like over others, and that is why you often see significant disparities between the major recruiting services. One might like a prospect much more than the other but it still gives you a good idea of how much potential the player has.

Now that the high school season is over and the all-star games have been played, ESPN made the final update to its class of 2023 rankings. Find out below where each Buckeye signee was ranked in the top 300 and a quick takeaway of the rankings.

As we eagerly await the kickoff of the contest between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Iowa Hawkeyes, we can pass the time by monitoring some of the top high school prospects that have committed to the Buckeyes in the class of 2023. As it stands, Ohio State currently has the fourth-ranked class in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, but the hope is they will rise up these rankings.

This class appears to be offense-heavy with a few stud receivers and some intriguing offensive linemen, but the Buckeyes need to add some more defensive help. I wanted to provide a brief recap of some of the top recruits in the Ohio State class and how they have performed so far during their high school season.

The 2022 recruiting cycle is almost in the books and the Ohio State Buckeyes did very well with a consensus top-five recruiting class in the nation and what is widely considered the best class in the Big Ten by a wide margin. This class has been marked with heavy hitters like C.J. Hicks, Devin Brown, and Kenyatta Jackson.

Another big deal was the reclassification of what was supposed to be a five-star stud in the class of 2023 in Sonny Styles to the class of 2022 and he will be enrolling in time for spring, but it is never too early to take a peek at what the next class has to offer.

BOOM! Ohio State lands commitment top 2023 in-state offensive lineman

Ohio State lands its second recruit in the 2023 class.

Ohio State just landed its second recruit in the 2023 class. Four-star recruit, Joshua Padilla, let coaches know that he was verbally committing to the Buckeyes on Thursday afternoon.

Padilla is the top-rated interior offensive lineman in the state of Ohio and ranked the No. 9 overall lineman in the country according to 247Sports composite rankings. The youngster hails from Dayton and attends Huber Heights Wayne High School. He comes in at 6-foot, 4-inches and 265-pounds with room to grow.

Padilla chose the Buckeyes over other Big Ten and midwest rivals including Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, and Notre Dame. It’s always good when Ohio State can build a wall around the border and keep the best talent at home.

Padilla joins four-star tight end, Ty Lockwood as the Buckeye coaching staff looks to continue success on the recruiting trail and build another top 5 class.
