Vols to play at Austin Peay Wednesday

Vols will travel to play Governors Wednesday after home game with Dayton canceled.

It did not take long for Tennessee to find a baseball game after its contest against Dayton, scheduled for Wednesday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium, was canceled Monday.

The Fiyers opted out of the game against the No. 17 Volunteers on Monday and Dayton did not disclose a reason. The school will play its home opener against Oakland on Friday to open a four-game series.

LOOK: Big 10 players react to watching other conferences play games

During the game, 2 Penn State football players reacted to watching other conferences getting to continue with their season, while they can’t

Austin Peay and Central Arkansas opened up the 2020 college football season, and all eyes were on them, literally.

The game, which was televised on ESPN, was also the first college sporting event to happen since early spring when the NCAA made the decision to cancel all spring sporting events.

Not only that, but the college football season has been a topic of controversy all spring and summer as to what will happen.

The Big 10, PAC 12, Mountain West, and Mid-American conferences made the decision to cancel their fall season, while the SEC, ACC, and Big 12, and others continue to fight for their chance to play.

TWO of those conferences who chose to play are the Southland Conference and Ohio Valley Conference, which Austin Peay and Central Arkansas play for.

During the game, two Penn State football players reacted to watching other conferences getting to continue with their season, while they can’t.

Both Penn State tight end Pat Freiermuth and Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford feel the same way.

Can you blame them?

I can’t.

I feel for them.

They want to play the sport they love, and it’s a tragedy they can’t.

It’s a decision many players, and coaches, are fighting to get the Big 10 to change.

As of right now, the SEC is still planning to play.

Alabama will open up the season on September 26th in Colombia, Missouri to take on the Mizzou Tigers in the opening game of their conference only schedule.

2021 NFL Draft: 9 players for the Eagles to watch in the Central Arkansas vs. Austin Peay matchup

2021 NFL Draft: 9 players for the Eagles’ to watch in Central Arkansas vs. Austin Peay matchup

College football is upon us and the first official game of the 2020 college football season will be played this evening at the Crampton Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama when Football Championship Subdivision rivals Central Arkansas and Austin Peay square off in a non-conference matchup.

The 2020 Guardian Credit Union FCS Kickoff is the only game on the slate this weekend, and it pits playoff teams from a year ago with the Governors of Austin Peay (11-4, 7-1 in 2019) who won the Ohio Valley Conference for the first time since 1977 and reached the FCS quarterfinals, losing to Montana State.

Central Arkansas shared the Southland championship with Nicholls State after going 9-4.

Central Arkansas is a five-point favorite and with all of the eyes of the football squarely focused on this game, here’s a rundown of the NFL Draft prospects to watch.

***

1. Robert Rochell (#9), CB, Central Arkansas

An athletic, lanky cover man with ball skills, Rochelle is currently projected in 4th-6th round range after a 2019 season that saw him start all 13 games while leading the team in interceptions (5) for the second consecutive year.

Rochell will have all eyes on him Saturday after he landed onĀ Bruce Feldmanā€™s ā€œFreaksā€ list as the No. 12 overall player.

Feldman:Ā Get to know this dude. Heā€™s a former track stud from Louisiana who has really blossomed at Central Arkansas. NFL scouts are really intrigued by him. Heā€™s a shade under 6-1 (6-0 7/8) and weighs 197 pounds. His coach Nathan Brown says heā€™s broad jumped 11-8 (!!) and has vertical jumped 41 inches. His 40 time is 4.38, and his short shuttle is 3.98. His 60-yard shuttle time is 10.98. Those are all big-time numbers. In 2019, he broke up 18 passes and intercepted five others.

College Football (sort of) starts today – See the BetMGM Odds

College football was supposed to start a lot grander today but one game will have to do. See the matchup and the BetMGM odds for it!

Today was supposed to be different.Ā  We were supposed to be getting up with Week Zero upon us, College Gameday airing from Dublin and the college football season officially getting underway with Notre Dame and Navy being the main course.

Then a global pandemic hit, the world changed forever and college football made adjustments with some schools and conferences canceling their seasons altogether and the rest having to make a thorough change of plans.

Instead of an early start for a handful of Power Five teams we get one game this evening.

Austin Peay takes on Central Arkansas at 9:00 p.m. ET tonight on ESPN.

I won’t pretend to act like I know anything about either of these programs other than I know Scottie Pippen attended college at Central Arkansas and that they’re the one opponent North Dakota State will be playing in 2020.

For those interested, Central Arkansas is a five point favorite over Austin Peay with a the total of 45.5.

Odds courtesy ofĀ BetMGM Sportsbook.

You can watch the game tonight on ESPN to scratch that college football itch.

Gators News: August 28, 2020

Another week is nearly in the booksā€”and by the end of this weekend, August as wellā€”and all systems are “go” for fall football in the SEC.

[jwplayer nZfE78tb]

Another week is nearly in the books ā€” and by the end of this weekend, another month as well ā€” and all systems are “go” for fall football in the Southeastern Conference, as well as the Big 12 and Atlantic Coast Conferences. But the road from here to Sept. 26 is anything but a smooth one, with more potholes than a Michigan road due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

We begin today’s news with the question, “Is anyone actually thinking of tailgating amid a pandemic?” Only three Power Five schools ā€” Boston College, Duke and West Virginia ā€” have said they will not host fans at the beginning of the season, with others considering hosting partial capacity stadiums.

While we still have a week before the Football Bowl Subdivision kicks off its season, the Football Championship Subdivision kicks off its schedule on Saturday night as Central Arkansas and Austin Peay face off at 9 p.m. ET, which will be broadcast on ESPN. The match represents the first college football game played during the COVID-19 era.

Georgia basketball player picks transfer destination

At 6 feet, 8 inches, 220 pounds, Peake signed late in last year’s class. He played high school basketball at Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas.

Peake was gracious for his time at the University of Georgia, but is now transferring to Austin Peay. Austin Peay went 21-12 last season. Peake is now a little bit closer to home.

Peake played in 24 total games last season. He averaged 9 minutes per game with 2.3 points and 2 rebounds.
