New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Mets (4-7) take on the Atlanta Braves (7-3) Wednesday in the 3rd game of a 4-game set at Truist Park at 7:20 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Braves odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 1-1

The Mets put up a fight Tuesday night, but fell just short 6-5. The Braves were up 6-0, and New York posted 3 runs in the 8th and 2 runs in the 9th. The Mets have won 4 of 6 after an 0-5 start. The bats have been frigid with 1B Pete Alonso hitting .196, and SS Francisco Lindor is hitting .089.

The Braves are navigating some serious injuries already with C Sean Murphy (oblique) and RHP Spencer Strider (elbow) already on the IL. They have one of the most talented rosters in baseball, though, and are pushing through it with 4 wins in 5 games. DH Marcell Ozuna leads the way with a .318 AVG, 5 HR and 13 RBI.

Mets at Braves projected starters

LHP Jose Quintana vs. RHP Allan Winans

Quintana (0-1, 2.61 ERA) makes his 3rd start. He has a 1.65 WHIP, 5.2 BB/9 and 7.0 K/9 in 10 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 4 BB, 4 K vs. Cincinnati Reds Friday
  • Last 5 starts vs. ATL: 0-5, 6.23 ERA, 1.81 WHIP, 22 K in 26 IP

Winans makes his 1st appearance in MLB this season.

  • He made 1 start at Triple-A Gwinnett April 2 against Louisville: Loss, 5 2/3 IP, 6 H, 1 BB, 5 K
  • 2 career starts vs. Mets: 1-1, 5.56 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 13 K in 11 1/3 IP

  • Moneyline (ML): Mets +135 (bet $100 to win $135) | Braves -160 (bet $160 to win $100)
  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Mets +1.5 (-145) | Braves -1.5 (+120)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 9.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Mets at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 7, Mets 5

Moneyline

The Braves boast the best offense in the league with 6.9 R/ game. Take that into account with Quintana’s futility in his last 5 starts against them, and the Braves should be heavier favorites. The reason they aren’t is the unknown on the bump. However, their offense should be able to overcome that, and Quintana has allowed 2+ walks in both of his starts this year and in 4 of his last 5 against ATL.

You can take the -160 here, but I prefer the RL.

Run line/Against the spread

The Braves have covered in 4 of their 7 wins this season. They have covered this RL in 5 of their last 7 wins against the Mets. There should be a lot of traffic on the basepaths early, and it will be up to Atlanta’s pen to cash this.

I’ll take the value with BRAVES -1.5 (+120).

Over/Under

Both games in this series have gone Over, and the pitching matchup doesn’t give me any evidence to look elsewhere. The Over is 6-4 in the last 10 meetings between the teams. The Braves are 7-2-1 O/U in their 10 games as well.

Take the OVER 9.5 (-115).

New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Mets (4-6) hope to make it 3 wins in a row as they take on the Atlanta Braves (5-2) Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Braves odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Mets lead 1-0

After falling behind 4-0 in Monday’s series opener, the Mets battled back to win 8-7 thanks to CF Brandon Nimmo‘s performance. The 31-year-old clubbed 2 HRs and drove in 5 runs and DH D.J. Stewart‘s 2-run HR in the 8th put the Mets ahead for good.

Braves SP Charlie Morton went 3 scoreless innings before allowing a Starling Marte RBI in the 4th followed by Nimmo’s 1st HR in the 5th. Braves DH Marcell Ozuna blasted a 2-run HR in the 3rd inning, his 5th of the season, tied for the most in MLB.

Mets at Braves projected starters

RHP Adrian Houser vs. RHP Reynaldo Lopez

Houser (0-0, 1.80 ERA) makes his 2nd start. He has a 1.20 WHIP, 5.40 BB/9 and 5.40 K/9 in 5 IP.

  • Despite completing three 1-2-3 innings in 5 IP, he was lifted after only 67 pitches in his 1st start of year vs. the Detroit Tigers.
  • Career vs. Braves: 0-4, 4.88 ERA (27.2 IP, 15 ER 3 HR 14 BB 26 Ks in 5 starts)

Lopez (0-0, 1.50 ERA) makes his 2nd start. He has a 1.00 WHIP, 3.00 BB/9 and 7.50 K/9 in 6 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K last Tuesday vs. his former team, the Chicago White Sox
  • After 5-plus seasons in the bullpen (144 games, 3.01 ERA), the 30-year-old has transitioned back to starter (98 games, 4.70 ERA)

Mets at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Atlanta 6, New York 4

Moneyline

PASS.

Too much juice to back Atlanta on their own, but if you like the Rangers on the ML (-198) at home against Oakland with SP Nathan Eovaldi on the mound, pairing Braves ML with Texas pays roughly +125.

Run line

BET ATLANTA -1.5 (-102).

Ozuna has 4 HRs in his last 5 games and SS Orlando Arcia is the NL leader in batting average (.417). Atlanta’s lineup can become sharks in the water, with reigning NL MVP Ronald Acuna leading off and 1B Matt Olson 2nd in the NL in doubles. Once Atlanta establishes the lead, expect their bullpen, which sports an NL-best 2.68 ERA, to limit the Mets bats unlike Monday.

Over/Under

BET OVER 9.5 (-106).

The Mets have won 4 of 5 because hitters like Nimmo, who has bumped up his OBP to .395 after starting the year 1 for 16 with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk. While Lopez was effective in his 1st start, it was against the lowly White Sox.

The Braves lead MLB in team batting average (.303), and their usual top 6 hitters in the lineup (Acuna, 2B Ozzie Albies, 3B Austin Riley, Olson, Ozuna and CF Michael Harris II) all have OBPs above .300. Expect both offenses to produce enough to go Over the total.

New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Mets (3-6) and Atlanta Braves (6-2) meet Monday to open up a 4-game series. First pitch from Truist Park is set for 7:20 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Braves odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Atlanta won 10-3 last season

New York beat the Cincinnati Reds 3-1 Sunday while covering as a -114 road favorite to win the series 2-1. LHP Sean Manaea got the win, with 5 IP, 1 ER, 3 H with 6 K. The Mets have won 3 of their last 4 outings.

Atlanta picked up a 5-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks Sunday, winning the series 3-0 and covering as a -238 home favorite. Sunday’s contest was tied at 2 entering the bottom of the 4th, when CF Michael Harris II hit a solo homer to give Atlanta the lead.

Mets at Braves projected starters

RHP Julio Teheran vs. RHP Charlie Morton

The Mets signed Teheran to a 1-year deal on Friday. Teheran (3-5, 4.40 ERA) made 11 starts and 3 relief appearances as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers last season. He had a 1.13 WHIP, 1.6 BB/9 and 6.3 K/9 in 71 2/3 IP.

  • 2023 road splits: 1-4, 6.61 ERA (32 2/3 IP, 24 ER), 42 H, 5 BB, 16 K in 5 starts and 2 relief appearances
  • Career vs. Atlanta: 0-1, 8.18 ERA (11 IP, 10 ER), 14 H, 0 BB, 9 K in 2 starts

Morton (1-0, 0.00 ERA) makes his 2nd start. He has a 0.88 WHIP, 3.2 BB/9 and 9.5 K/9 in 5 2/3 IP.

  • 2023 home splits: 7-5, 3.23 ERA (75 1/3 IP, 27 ER), 62 H, 30 BB, 91 K in 13 starts
  • Career vs. Mets: 6-6, 3.58 ERA (118 IP, 47 ER), 107 H, 43 BB, 120 K in 21 starts and 1 relief appearance

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Mets at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 5, Mets 1

Moneyline

PASS.

I like the Braves (-210) to come away with the win, but they are not worth the risk of betting on as such heavy favorites. Bet on the run line and/or total instead.

Run line/Against the spread

LEAN BRAVES -1.5 (-108).

Atlanta has been the much better team to start the season and covered ATS in its last matchup vs. New York. The Braves are also 7-3 ATS in their last 10 meetings with the Mets.

New York is only 2-7 ATS to start the season, making this bet even safer. But this is only a lean because the Braves are only 4-4 ATS on the season.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 9.5 (-110).

The Under has hit in 3 of New York’s last 4 games and is 6-3 for the Mets this season. For Atlanta, the Under hit in its last outing. The Under has also hit in back-to-back Atlanta-New York matchups and is 3-2 in Atlanta’s last 5 wins vs. the Mets.

Be aware that the Over is 5-2-1 for the Braves this season.

Arizona Diamondbacks at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Arizona Diamondbacks at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Arizona Diamondbacks (4-5) hope to avoid a 3-game sweep as they take on the Atlanta Braves (5-2) Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Diamondbacks vs. Braves odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Braves lead 2-0

Arizona shot out to 6-0 lead in the 1st inning against Braves SP Max Fried on Saturday, but blew it and lost 9-8 as a +177 road underdog. The D-backs have lost 4 of 5 after starting the season 3-1.

Braves 3B Austin Riley had 3 hits and delivered the go-ahead single in the 8th inning while DH Marcell Ozuna went 3 for 5 with a 2B, HR and 4 RBI. The 33-year-old leads Atlanta with 4 HRs and 10 and RBIs.

Diamondbacks at Braves projected starters

RHP Ryne Nelson vs. LHP Chris Sale

Nelson (0-1, 13.50 ERA) makes his 2nd start. He has a 3.38 WHIP, 13.50 BB/9 and 6.75 K/9 in 2.2 IP.

  • Had a 2.66 ERA in 20.1 IP in spring training
  • Just 43 of his 76 pitches in his 1st start vs. the New York Yankees landed in the strike zone
  • Career vs. Braves: 1-1, 3.86 ERA (11.2 IP, 5 ER 2 HR 5 BB 5 Ks in 2 starts)

Sale (0-0, 3.38 ERA) makes his 2nd start. He has a 1.31 WHIP, 3.38 BB/9 and 11.81 K/9 in 5.1 IP.

  • The 35-year-old proved he can still throw heat in his 1st start as he struck out 7 vs. the Philadelphia Phillies
  • Faced Arizona last season as a member of the Boston Red Sox, earning the win as he allowed just 1 ER, 4 H in 5 IP with 3 K

Diamondbacks at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Atlanta 6, Arizona 5

Moneyline

PASS.

Too much juice to lay on the Braves by themselves. Nonetheless, if you believe Philadelphia wins once again on the road in Washington as I do, pairing Atlanta ML with the Phillies (-158) pays out roughly +140.

Run line

BET ARIZONA +1.5 (-110).

The D-backs have lost 3 straight 1-run games and I expect it will be 4 after they are swept in Atlanta. However, this is still the defending NL Champions getting a run and a half at close to even money so I will take my chances rather than laying a run and a half on the home team.

Over/Under

BET OVER 9 (-115).

Since June 4 of last season, 5 of the 6 games played between these teams have gone Over, with the last 5 being played at Truist Park. Each lineup features so many heavy hitters: Arizona 2B Ketel Marte has homered in 3 straight games while 2023 NL MVP Ronald Acuna Jr. and 1B Matt Olson each have OBPs over .350 just to name a few.

According to Arizona manager Torey Lovullo, Nelson was leaving his secondary pitches over the plate in his 1st outing on April 1. That could be a recipe for disaster against these dangerous Atlanta bats, especially at Truist Park, which calculates out as the 6th-most favorable ballpark for runs.

Arizona Diamondbacks at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Arizona Diamondbacks at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Arizona Diamondbacks (4-4) and Atlanta Braves (4-2) battle Saturday at 7:20 p.m. ET as they continue a 3-gme series at Truist Park. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Diamondbacks vs. Braves odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Braves lead 1-0

The Diamondbacks lost Friday’s opener — their 1st road game this season — by a 6-5 score to the Braves in 10 innings. They lost to the New York Yankees by the same score in 11 innings Wednesday and tote a 2-game losing skid into Saturday’s contest.

The Braves were down 5-2 late in Friday’s game, but they rallied with 1 run in the 8th inning, then 2 in the 9th to knot the score at 5-5. The Atlanta bullpen pitched 6 scoreless frames in the comeback.

Diamondbacks at Braves projected starters

RHP Brandon Pfaadt vs. LHP Max Fried

Pfaadt (1-0, 1.80 ERA) makes his 2nd start. He has registered a 1.00 WHIP, 0.0 BB/9 and 10.8 K/9 through 5 IP.

  • Last outing: Win, 5 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 0 BB, 6 K in 5-1 win vs. Colorado Rockies Sunday
  • Owns a 5.52 ERA, 1.39 WHIP across 101 career innings

Fried (0-0, 40.50 ERA) is tabbed for his 2nd start this season. He owns a 7.50 WHIP, 40.5 BB/9 and 13.5 K/9 through 2/3 IP.

  • Last outing: No-decision, 0.2 IP, 3 ER, 2 H, 3 BB, 1 K in 12-4 win at Philadelphia Phillies last Saturday
  • Career vs. Diamondbacks: 1-0, 2.50 ERA (18.0 IP, 5 ER), 20 H, 4 BB, 15 K
  • Has clocked a 3.06 ERA, 1.17 WHIP in 140 career games

Diamondbacks at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 5, Diamondbacks 3

Moneyline

PASS: the Braves are whittled down to a pick ’em on the RL, and there is less juice to wade through.

Run line/Against the spread

The Braves went 52-29 at home last year, logging a plus-102 run differential along the way. Overall, they won 33 games by 5 or more runs.

They are 8-3 across their last 11 games against the D-backs; 6 of those 8 wins have been by multiple runs.

Pfaadt was frequently barreled up a year ago when he posted a 5.72 ERA. In the small-sample department, he registered an 8.66 ERA across 4 starts made on 5 days’ rest, which is his interval coming into this turn at Atlanta.

Fried is a consistent sort, so we should expect a solid bounce-back after his troubled season debut. He’s tough on lefties and righties alike, which is key because he will likely see a slew of right-handed bats Saturday.

FanDuel Sportsbook has a better tag here, with less outlay for us as bettors. BACK THE BRAVES -1.5 (-108).

Over/Under

The last 17 Atlanta home games against Arizona have seen the Under cash 11 times.

The analytics indicate both offenses being out too far over their skis through the early going. Both, for instance, have big batting-average-on-balls-in-play figures with runners in scoring position.

TAKE THE UNDER 9 (-110).

Arizona Diamondbacks at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Arizona Diamondbacks at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Arizona Diamondbacks (4-3) and Atlanta Braves (3-2) meet Friday at 7:20 p.m. ET as they open a 3-game series at Truist Park. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Diamondbacks vs. Braves odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting of 2024; split last year’s series 3-3

The Diamondbacks have played all their games thus far at home. On Wednesday afternoon, they wrapped up a 3-game series with the Yankees, falling to New York 6-5 in 11 innings.

The Braves last played Tuesday, falling 3-2 at the Chicago White Sox. Atlanta and Chicago had their Wednesday meeting rained out, and Atlanta had an off day Thursday, so the Braves open Friday with 2 days’ rest.

Diamondbacks at Braves projected starters

LHP Tommy Henry vs RHP Spencer Strider

Henry (0-1, 11.25 ERA) makes his 2nd start this season. He allowed 5 ER on 6 H and 2 BB with 4 K in 4 IP in his debut vs. the Colorado Rockies Saturday; Arizona lost 9-4.

  • Owns a 4.76 ERA across 140 career IP
  • Has never faced the Braves

Strider (0-0, 3.60 ERA) is tabbed for his 2nd start. He allowed 2 ER on 3 H and 2 BB with 8 K in 5 IP in a no-decision at the Philadelphia Phillies last Friday, a 9-3 Braves win.

  • Owns a 3.37 ERA through 66 career games
  • Has held opposing batters to a .428 OPS across 11 career March/April games
  • Career vs. Diamondbacks: 1-1, 4.96 ERA (16 1/3 IP, 9 ER), 11 H, 7 BB, 27 K in 3 starts

  • Over/Under (O/U): 8.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Diamondbacks at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 5, Diamondbacks 3

Moneyline

PASS: better leverage can be had on the RL.

Run line/Against the spread

Atlanta clocked a league-best .870 OPS against southpaws in 2023. The Braves went 52-29 at home last year, logging a plus-102 run differential along the way. Overall, they won 33 games by 5 or more runs.

The Braves are 7-3 across their last 10 games against the D-backs; 6 of those 7 wins have been by multiple runs.

Be wary of using surface ERA when looking at past performances against a franchise. For example, per ESPN, Spencer Strider has held current Arizona batters to an aggregate .438 OPS. And its a whiff-heavy .438 OPS.

FanDuel Sportsbook has the best tag here: BACK THE BRAVES -1.5 (-134).

Over/Under

The last 16 Atlanta home games against Arizona have seen the Under cash 11 times.

The Braves and Diamondbacks rank 1st and 4th, respectively, in OPS through the 1st week of the season. But both clubs have some peripheral numbers that would indicate a dose of regression being due. Atlanta has registered an overall .359 batting average on balls in play and a .480 BABIP in high-leverage situations. Arizona has filed a .321 BABIP overall and a .439 mark when leading off innings.

Both offenses have thus far enjoyed generous home-run/fly-ball rates. With Strider being 1 of the mound particulars and both bullpens getting a day of rest, TAKE THE UNDER 8.5 (+100).

Atlanta Braves at Chicago White Sox, ppd.

Wednesday’s Atlanta Braves at Chicago White Sox was postponed due to bad weather in Chicago.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

Update 3:27 p.m. ET: Wednesday’s game between the Atlanta Braves and Chicago White Sox has been postponed with a forecast of persistent rain and snow in Chicago. The game has been rescheduled for June 27, which was an off-day for both teams.

Original column below (published 8:46 a.m. ET)

The Atlanta Braves (3-2) and Chicago White Sox (1-4) meet Wednesday for the finale of this 3-game series. First pitch from Guaranteed Rate Field is set for 2:10 ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Braves vs. White Sox odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 1-1

Chicago picked up a 3-2 win Tuesday while covering as a +159 home underdog. SS Paul DeJong broke the 1-1 tie in the 7th inning with a solo HR. LHP Garrett Crochet pitched 7 innings, allowing 1 ER on 3 H with 8 K.

Atlanta relievers A.J. Minter and Pierce Johnson both pitched 1 inning and allowed 1 ER. The Braves have lost 2 of their last 3.

Braves at White Sox projected starters

RHP Spencer Strider vs. TBD

Strider (0-0, 3.60 ERA) makes his 2nd start. He has a 1.00 WHIP, 3.6 BB/9 and 14.4 K/9 in 5 IP.

Braves at White Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 4, White Sox 3

Moneyline

PASS.

I like the Braves (-330) to win here, but they are not worth the risk of betting on as such heavy favorites, especially with how they have struggled vs. Chicago (+265) recently. Bet on the spread and/or total instead.

Run line/Against the spread

LEAN WHITE SOX +1.5 (+142).

Chicago has covered the spread in 4 of its 5 games this season and has covered the spread in 3 of its last 4 matchups vs. Atlanta. The Sox are also 3-1 overall in their last 4 matchups with the Braves.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 8 (-110).

The Under has hit in 2 of Chicago’s last 3 overall and is 3-1-1 for the White Sox to start the season. The Under has also hit in 2 of the last 3 Atlanta-Chicago matchups and is 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings overall.

Be aware that the Over has hit in 3 of Atlanta’s 1st 5 games to start the season.

Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Atlanta Braves (2-0) take on the Philadelphia Phillies (0-2) in the finale of a 3-game set Sunday at Citizens Bank Park at 1:35 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Braves vs. Phillies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Braves lead 2-0

Atlanta mopped the floor with the Phightin’ Phils Saturday afternoon in a 12-4 final. DH Marcell Ozuna and 2B Ozzie Albies each homered and drove in 3 runs. They only got 2/3 of an inning out of starter Max Fried, but RHP Jesse Chavez pitched 3 solid innings to lend a hand.

RHP Aaron Nola was tattooed for 7 ER on 12 hits in 4 2/3 IP in the loss Saturday. 2B Bryson Stott went 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs. The Phillies’ top 3 hitters, DH Kyle Schwarber, SS Trea Turner and 1B Bryce Harper, are a combined 2 for 18 (.111) to start the season.

Braves at Phillies projected starters

LHP Chris Sale vs. LHP Ranger Suarez

Sale went 6-5 in 20 starts last year with a 4.30 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 2.5 BB/9 and 11.0 K/9 in 102 2/3 innings.

  • Went 5-4 with a 4.24 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 9.9 K/9 in 11 road starts with the Boston Red Sox last year vs. 1-1 with a 4.37 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 12.3 K/9 in 9 home starts
  • Beat the Phillies in his only start against them last year with 6 IP, 3 ER, 7 H, 1 BB and 10 K

Suarez went 4-6 in 22 starts last year with a 4.18 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, 3.5 BB/9 and 8.6 K/9 over 125 IP.

  • Had trouble at home last year: 1-3 with a 5.45 ERA, 1.41 WHIP in 12 starts vs. 3-3 with a 2.75 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 10 starts on the road
  • Has decent numbers against ATL in last 5 starts: 1-1, 1.82 ERA, 26 K in 29 2/3 IP

Braves at Phillies odds

  • Moneyline (ML): Braves -140 (bet $140 to win $100) | Phillies +115 (bet $100 to win $115)
  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Braves -1.5 (+120) | Phillies +1.5 (-145)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 8.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Braves at Phillies picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 5, Phillies 3

Moneyline

The Phils’ big bats are struggling, and facing a lefty with as good of an arsenal as Sale isn’t exactly what the doctor ordered. That said, Suarez has pitched well against Atlanta. He held it to 1 run and struck out 7 in 6 IP in his lone start against it last year. So I think he’ll keep them in it, but Atlanta is just too much.

Take the BRAVES -140.

Run line/Against the spread

The Braves have outscored the Phils 21-7 in the 1st 2 games. Their lineup is so deep, and as long as Sale doesn’t walk the park, BRAVES -1.5 (+120) remains at a solid value.

Over/Under

We’ve had 30 runs in the 1st 2 games, and I think we regress to the mean a little Sunday afternoon. I’d probably wait and see if the total reaches 9 before you strike.

Otherwise, LEAN UNDER 8.5 (+100).

Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Philadelphia Phillies (0-1) welcome the Atlanta Braves (1-0) to Citizens Bank Park Saturday for the 2nd game of a 3-game series. First pitch is set for 4:05 p.m. ET (FS1). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Braves vs. Phillies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Braves lead 1-0

The Braves finished atop the NL East a season ago with a 104-58 record. That was their best season since winning 106 games in 1998. Atlanta finished a strong 52-29 both on the road and at home, and it kicked off its 2024 season with a strong 9-3 win over the Phillies Friday, scoring all 9 in the 7th and 8th innings.

The Phillies were able to capitalize on 6 scoreless innings from ace RHP Zack Wheeler. Philadelphia held the lead for most of the game after a 2-run 5th. With a plethora of strong bats like SS Trea Turner and 1B Bryce Harper, it will again have playoff aspirations, finishing last season 2nd in the NL East with a 90-72 record. The Phillies were 49-32 at home in 2023.

Braves at Phillies projected starters

LHP Max Fried vs. RHP Aaron Nola

Fried (8-1, 2.48 ERA) made 14 starts in 2023. He owned a 1.13 WHIP, 2.1 BB/9 and 9.3 K/9 in 77 2/3 innings.

  • 2023 road splits: 6-0, 1.71 ERA (47 1/3 IP, 9 ER — 3 HR), 9 BB, 56 K in 9 starts
  • 2023 vs. Phillies (excluding playoffs): No-decision, 5 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 6 K in 1 start, a 7-6 road win in extra innings Sept. 12

Nola (12-9, 4.46 ERA) made 32 starts in 2023. He finished the season with a a 1.15 WHIP, 2.1 BB/9 and 9.4 K/9 in 193 2/3 innings.

  • 2023 home splits: 6-3, 3.29 ERA (87 2/3 IP, 32 ER — 20 HR), 28 BB, 97 K in 14 starts
  • 2023 vs. Braves (excluding playoffs): 0-0, 3.50 ERA (18 IP, 7 ER — 3 HR), 4 BB, 20 K in 3 starts
  • Philadelphia was 1-2 in his regular-season starts in 2023 vs. Atlanta

  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Braves -1.5 (+125) | Phillies +1.5 (-150)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 8 (O: -115 | U: -105)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Braves at Phillies picks and predictions

Prediction

Phillies 4, Braves 3

Moneyline

BET PHILLIES (+114).

Prior to the 8th-inning explosion, the Phillies held the Braves to just 2 runs through 7 innings in the series opener. Philadelphia has another strong pitcher on the mound and was significantly better at home than it was on the road last season.

The combination of Turner and Harper going 0 for 7 from the plate again is unlikely, so expect more production from the Philadelphia offense. Atlanta struggled for most of the game and is facing a familiar Nola Saturday.

Expect Philadelphia to come alive, and back PHILLIES (+114).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

There’s just no real value here.

The Phillies are too expensive to take and not worth the value against a high-octane Braves side. Atlanta has some value with Fried on the mound, but it didn’t show enough in the majority of Friday’s win to take as a run-line favorite.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 8 (-105).

The starting pitchers in the 1st game of the series combined for 11 IP and 2 ER. Nola and Fried are certainly capable of repeating those types of performances. Philadelphia was 39-41-9 O/U at home a season ago.

Take away the top of the 7th inning, when Atlanta scored 7 runs, and there would’ve been just 5 runs scored Friday. Expect the high-quality pitching to own the spotlight here, and back UNDER 8 (-105).

Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Philadelphia Phillies welcome the Atlanta Braves on Friday after Thursday’s Opening Day game was postponed. First pitch from Citizens Bank Park is set for 3:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Braves vs. Phillies odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Braves won 8 of 13 regular-season meetings last season

The Braves finished on top of the NL East last season with a 104-58 record, also the best record in the MLB. They went 52-29 on the road. Atlanta earned a 1st-round bye in the playoffs before being eliminated by the Phillies 3-1 in the NLDS.

Philadelphia finished 2nd in the NL East last season with a 90-72 record, 14 games behind the Braves. The Phillies went 49-32 at home. They fell 1 game short of the World Series, losing 4-3 against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NLCS.

Braves at Phillies projected starters

RHP Spencer Strider vs. RHP Zack Wheeler

Strider went 20-5 with a 3.86 ERA in 32 starts last season. He had a WHIP of 1.09 and in 186.2 IP, he had a 4.8 K/BB with 281 total strikeouts.

  • In his 2nd season as a starter, Strider went from 11 to 20 wins
  • Pitched 55 more innings in 2023 than 2022; ERA jumped from 2.67 to 3.86

Wheeler was 13-6 with a 3.61 ERA in 32 starts last season with a WHIP of 1.08. In 192 IP, he had a 5.4 K/BB with 212 total strikeouts.

  • Entering 10th season and is coming off a career-best .684 W% and his 5.4 K/BB tying a career high.
  • Eclipsed 200 strikeouts for just the 2nd time in his career

Braves at Phillies picks and predictions

Prediction

Phillies 6, Braves 5

Moneyline

BET PHILLIES (+105).

While Atlanta should have the better season overall, Philadelphia has a true home-field advantage opening up the season in front of its fans. The Phillies have a sour taste in their mouth from how last season ended and will look to come out swinging. They bested the Braves in 4 of the final 5 matchups between the 2 last season.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

There is no value here.

Over/Under

BET OVER 7.5 (+100).

While Friday will be a battle between 2 aces, the Phillies and Braves both have good offenses. At even money for a lower total, this is worth a wager. The Braves had an Over record of 91-68 last season and will be looking to pick up where they left off. Four of the last 6 games played between these 2 has resulted in more than 9 runs.
