New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Mets (4-7) and Atlanta Braves (7-3) wrap up what was originally scheduled as a 4-game series Thursday at Truist Park following Wednesday’s postponement. First pitch for the finale is scheduled for 12:20 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Braves odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 1-1

The Mets scored an 8-7 win Monday as a heavy underdog (+195) as the Over (10) easily cashed. The Braves returned the favor 6-5 Tuesday as the favorite cashed (-176), while the Over (9) again cashed. Wednesday’s game was rained out and it will be made up Sept. 26.

After an 0-5 start, the Mets have picked up the pace with 4 wins in the past 6 outings. The Over has cashed in 3 of the past 4 games.

The Braves have won 4 of the past 5 games with 3 of the victories by 1 run. The Over has connected in 4 of the past 5 games, including both meetings in this series, while the Over is 7-2-1 in Atlanta’s 10 games.

Mets at Braves projected starters

LHP Jose Quintana vs. RHP Allan Winans

Quintana (0-1, 2.61 ERA) makes his 3rd start in 2024. He has a 1.65 WHIP, 5.2 BB/9, 7.0 K/9 in 10 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 4 BB, 4 K in 3-2 win last Friday in Cincinnati
  • Last start vs. Braves: Loss, 5 1/3 IP, 5 ER, 9 H, 3 BB, 6 K in a 7-0 loss in Atlanta on Aug. 23, 2023

Winans (1-2, 5.29 ERA in 2023) makes his 1st start in 2024. He had a 1.39 WHIP, 2.2 BB/9, 9.5 K/9 in 32 1/3 IP in his first 6 major-league starts in 2023.

  • 2023 home splits: 0-1, 8.44 ERA (16 IP, 15 ER — 5 HR), 3 BB, 14 K in 3 starts
  • 2023 vs. Mets: 1-1, 5.56 ERA (11 1/3 IP, 7 ER — 2 HR), 3 BB, 13 K in 2 starts

Mets at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Mets 5, Braves 4

Moneyline

The METS (+140) are a decent play moderate underdogs behind the veteran Quintana against the unproven Winans.

The Braves (-165) saw mixed results from Winans in his 6 starts last season, including 2 outings against the Mets. He twirled 7 scoreless innings at Citi Field Aug. 12, then he was bombarded for 7 ER, 9 H and 2 HR in just 4 1/3 IP in a loss Aug. 21.

Quintana has fired out of the gate this season, allowing just 3 ER in 10 1/3 IP in 2 starts. He has walked 6 batters, and that’s a little bit of a concern.

Run line/Against the spread

The METS +1.5 (-135) aren’t priced out of line if you’d like a little bit of insurance and would prefer not to pick them straight up.

Remember, in the past 4 victories by the Braves, they have won 3 of those games by just a single run. So, playing New York makes sense based upon that trend, too.

Over/Under

UNDER 9.5 (-115) is worth a look, as this number is quite high despite the fact we saw the Over cashed in the first 2 games of the series. Go lightly, however, with a half-unit play at most.

While the Over has cashed in 3 of the past 4 games, the Under has hit in each of Quintana’s 2 outings.

New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Mets (4-7) take on the Atlanta Braves (7-3) Wednesday in the 3rd game of a 4-game set at Truist Park at 7:20 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Braves odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 1-1

The Mets put up a fight Tuesday night, but fell just short 6-5. The Braves were up 6-0, and New York posted 3 runs in the 8th and 2 runs in the 9th. The Mets have won 4 of 6 after an 0-5 start. The bats have been frigid with 1B Pete Alonso hitting .196, and SS Francisco Lindor is hitting .089.

The Braves are navigating some serious injuries already with C Sean Murphy (oblique) and RHP Spencer Strider (elbow) already on the IL. They have one of the most talented rosters in baseball, though, and are pushing through it with 4 wins in 5 games. DH Marcell Ozuna leads the way with a .318 AVG, 5 HR and 13 RBI.

Mets at Braves projected starters

LHP Jose Quintana vs. RHP Allan Winans

Quintana (0-1, 2.61 ERA) makes his 3rd start. He has a 1.65 WHIP, 5.2 BB/9 and 7.0 K/9 in 10 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 4 BB, 4 K vs. Cincinnati Reds Friday
  • Last 5 starts vs. ATL: 0-5, 6.23 ERA, 1.81 WHIP, 22 K in 26 IP

Winans makes his 1st appearance in MLB this season.

  • He made 1 start at Triple-A Gwinnett April 2 against Louisville: Loss, 5 2/3 IP, 6 H, 1 BB, 5 K
  • 2 career starts vs. Mets: 1-1, 5.56 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 13 K in 11 1/3 IP

Mets at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 7, Mets 5

Moneyline

The Braves boast the best offense in the league with 6.9 R/ game. Take that into account with Quintana’s futility in his last 5 starts against them, and the Braves should be heavier favorites. The reason they aren’t is the unknown on the bump. However, their offense should be able to overcome that, and Quintana has allowed 2+ walks in both of his starts this year and in 4 of his last 5 against ATL.

You can take the -160 here, but I prefer the RL.

Run line/Against the spread

The Braves have covered in 4 of their 7 wins this season. They have covered this RL in 5 of their last 7 wins against the Mets. There should be a lot of traffic on the basepaths early, and it will be up to Atlanta’s pen to cash this.

I’ll take the value with BRAVES -1.5 (+120).

Over/Under

Both games in this series have gone Over, and the pitching matchup doesn’t give me any evidence to look elsewhere. The Over is 6-4 in the last 10 meetings between the teams. The Braves are 7-2-1 O/U in their 10 games as well.

Take the OVER 9.5 (-115).

New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Mets (4-6) hope to make it 3 wins in a row as they take on the Atlanta Braves (5-2) Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Braves odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Mets lead 1-0

After falling behind 4-0 in Monday’s series opener, the Mets battled back to win 8-7 thanks to CF Brandon Nimmo‘s performance. The 31-year-old clubbed 2 HRs and drove in 5 runs and DH D.J. Stewart‘s 2-run HR in the 8th put the Mets ahead for good.

Braves SP Charlie Morton went 3 scoreless innings before allowing a Starling Marte RBI in the 4th followed by Nimmo’s 1st HR in the 5th. Braves DH Marcell Ozuna blasted a 2-run HR in the 3rd inning, his 5th of the season, tied for the most in MLB.

Mets at Braves projected starters

RHP Adrian Houser vs. RHP Reynaldo Lopez

Houser (0-0, 1.80 ERA) makes his 2nd start. He has a 1.20 WHIP, 5.40 BB/9 and 5.40 K/9 in 5 IP.

  • Despite completing three 1-2-3 innings in 5 IP, he was lifted after only 67 pitches in his 1st start of year vs. the Detroit Tigers.
  • Career vs. Braves: 0-4, 4.88 ERA (27.2 IP, 15 ER 3 HR 14 BB 26 Ks in 5 starts)

Lopez (0-0, 1.50 ERA) makes his 2nd start. He has a 1.00 WHIP, 3.00 BB/9 and 7.50 K/9 in 6 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K last Tuesday vs. his former team, the Chicago White Sox
  • After 5-plus seasons in the bullpen (144 games, 3.01 ERA), the 30-year-old has transitioned back to starter (98 games, 4.70 ERA)

Mets at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Atlanta 6, New York 4

Moneyline

PASS.

Too much juice to back Atlanta on their own, but if you like the Rangers on the ML (-198) at home against Oakland with SP Nathan Eovaldi on the mound, pairing Braves ML with Texas pays roughly +125.

Run line

BET ATLANTA -1.5 (-102).

Ozuna has 4 HRs in his last 5 games and SS Orlando Arcia is the NL leader in batting average (.417). Atlanta’s lineup can become sharks in the water, with reigning NL MVP Ronald Acuna leading off and 1B Matt Olson 2nd in the NL in doubles. Once Atlanta establishes the lead, expect their bullpen, which sports an NL-best 2.68 ERA, to limit the Mets bats unlike Monday.

Over/Under

BET OVER 9.5 (-106).

The Mets have won 4 of 5 because hitters like Nimmo, who has bumped up his OBP to .395 after starting the year 1 for 16 with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk. While Lopez was effective in his 1st start, it was against the lowly White Sox.

The Braves lead MLB in team batting average (.303), and their usual top 6 hitters in the lineup (Acuna, 2B Ozzie Albies, 3B Austin Riley, Olson, Ozuna and CF Michael Harris II) all have OBPs above .300. Expect both offenses to produce enough to go Over the total.

New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Mets (3-6) and Atlanta Braves (6-2) meet Monday to open up a 4-game series. First pitch from Truist Park is set for 7:20 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Braves odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Atlanta won 10-3 last season

New York beat the Cincinnati Reds 3-1 Sunday while covering as a -114 road favorite to win the series 2-1. LHP Sean Manaea got the win, with 5 IP, 1 ER, 3 H with 6 K. The Mets have won 3 of their last 4 outings.

Atlanta picked up a 5-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks Sunday, winning the series 3-0 and covering as a -238 home favorite. Sunday’s contest was tied at 2 entering the bottom of the 4th, when CF Michael Harris II hit a solo homer to give Atlanta the lead.

Mets at Braves projected starters

RHP Julio Teheran vs. RHP Charlie Morton

The Mets signed Teheran to a 1-year deal on Friday. Teheran (3-5, 4.40 ERA) made 11 starts and 3 relief appearances as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers last season. He had a 1.13 WHIP, 1.6 BB/9 and 6.3 K/9 in 71 2/3 IP.

  • 2023 road splits: 1-4, 6.61 ERA (32 2/3 IP, 24 ER), 42 H, 5 BB, 16 K in 5 starts and 2 relief appearances
  • Career vs. Atlanta: 0-1, 8.18 ERA (11 IP, 10 ER), 14 H, 0 BB, 9 K in 2 starts

Morton (1-0, 0.00 ERA) makes his 2nd start. He has a 0.88 WHIP, 3.2 BB/9 and 9.5 K/9 in 5 2/3 IP.

  • 2023 home splits: 7-5, 3.23 ERA (75 1/3 IP, 27 ER), 62 H, 30 BB, 91 K in 13 starts

Mets at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 5, Mets 1

Moneyline

PASS.

I like the Braves (-210) to come away with the win, but they are not worth the risk of betting on as such heavy favorites. Bet on the run line and/or total instead.

Run line/Against the spread

LEAN BRAVES -1.5 (-108).

Atlanta has been the much better team to start the season and covered ATS in its last matchup vs. New York. The Braves are also 7-3 ATS in their last 10 meetings with the Mets.

New York is only 2-7 ATS to start the season, making this bet even safer. But this is only a lean because the Braves are only 4-4 ATS on the season.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 9.5 (-110).

The Under has hit in 3 of New York’s last 4 games and is 6-3 for the Mets this season. For Atlanta, the Under hit in its last outing. The Under has also hit in back-to-back Atlanta-New York matchups and is 3-2 in Atlanta’s last 5 wins vs. the Mets.

Be aware that the Over is 5-2-1 for the Braves this season.

New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Mets (59-68) and Atlanta Braves (81-44) play the finale of a 3-game set at Truist Park Wednesday. First pitch is at 7:20 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Braves odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Braves lead 9-3

The Mets have split the 1st 2 games of this series after a 3-2 loss Tuesday night. They have shown signs of life of late, going 7-3 in the last 10. They are 7 games out of the final Wild Card, which isn’t insurmountable, but still unlikely.

The Braves continue to roll full speed ahead at 7-3 in the last 10 and 19-11 over the last 30 games. They have a 12 1/2-game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East. The Braves are 15-8 against left-handed pitchers. This is the last meeting between the teams in the regular season.

Mets at Braves projected starters

LHP Jose Quintana vs. RHP Charlie Morton

Quintana (1-4, 3.03 ERA) makes his 7th start. He has a 1.26 WHIP, 3.5 BB/9 and 6.3 K/9 in 35 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 4 BB, 5 K in 4-2 win Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals
  • Last 5 regular season starts vs. Braves: 0-4, 7.83 ERA, 2.00 WHIP, 18 K in 23 IP

Morton (12-10, 3.54 ERA) makes his 25th start. He has a 1.43 WHIP, 4.4 BB/9 and 9.8 K/9 in 134 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 0 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 10 K in Wednesday’s 2-0 win against New York Yankees
  • Last 5 regular season starts vs. Mets: 2-1, 3.81 ERA, 1.58 WHIP, 32 K in 26 IP

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Mets at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 4, Mets 3

Moneyline

Quintana has been rock solid this season, not allowing more than 3 ER in any start thus far. He’ll keep the Mets in the game, but the Braves have too much at their disposal. We’re not going to pay -200, though.

Head to the Win/Total section, and take MONEY LINE AND BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE 2 OR MORE RUNS: BRAVES AND YES (+105).

Run line/Against the spread

The Mets have been playing well, but the Braves have owned them this season. The Mets are just 28-40 on the RL on the road as well. I do think they can keep it close, but it’s not something I’d like to throw down on.

One prop bet I do like is concerning Quintana. He has gone at least 6 innings in all but 1 start this year. He did so against the Braves a couple of weeks ago. QUINTANA OVER 15.5 OUTS (+100) is a good bet as he’ll just need to get 1 out in the 6th.

Over/Under

This is a pretty tall number for the caliber of pitching we should see Wednesday night. The Over is 5-5 for the Mets and 4-6 for the Braves over the last 10. It’s also 5-5 head-to-head the last 10 games.

I’ll LEAN UNDER 9.5 (-105).

New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Mets (59-67) play the 2nd game of a 3-game series against the Atlanta Braves (80-44) on Tuesday at Truist Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. ET (TBS). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Braves odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Braves lead 8-3

The Mets defeated the Braves 10-4 Monday as OF DJ Stewart, OF Rafael Ortega, and SS Francisco Lindor all homered. New York has won 5 of its last 6 contests, but it remains in 4th place in the NL East race.

In Monday’s lopsided loss to the Mets, DH Marcell Ozuna hit 2 solo HRs  for the Braves. Atlanta has lost 2 straight games, however, it is still 12 1/2 games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies for 1st place in the NL East.

Mets at Braves projected starters

RHP Tylor Megill vs. RHP Bryce Elder

Megill (7-6, 5.53 ERA) makes his 19th start. He has a 1.70 WHIP, 4.6 BB/9 and 7.2 K/9 in 86 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 5 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 4 BB, 5 K in an 8-3 home win against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday
  • Road stats: 2-4, 8.20 ERA (37 1/3 IP, 34 ER) in 9 starts
  • Career vs. Braves: 1-2, 4.66 ERA (36 2/3 IP, 19 ER) in 7 starts and 1 relief appearance

Elder (9-4, 3.46 ERA) makes his 25th start. He has a 1.21 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9 and 6.5 K/9 in 138 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 7 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 3 BB, 3 K in a 5-0 victory over the New York Yankees last Tueaday
  • Home stats: 5-1, 3.12 ERA (75 IP, 26 ER) in 13 starts

Mets at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 7, Mets 4

Moneyline

It’s hard to see the Braves losing 3 straight games, but I’ll PASS on wagering on the costly moneyline in this divisional showdown.

Run line/Against the spread

After getting blown out on Monday, I’ll take the BRAVES -1.5 (-125) at home on Tuesday with Elder on the mound. The Braves have defeated the Mets by at least 2 runs in 7 of their 8 wins against their division rivals this season.

Over/Under

OVER 10.5 (-115) is the lean in this matchup as Megill has been giving up runs often this season. Megill has surrendered at least 4 ER in 3 of his last 4 starts.

Since the start of August, the Braves boast the 3rd-best ISO (.217), the best wOBA (.372), and the 2nd-best wRC+ (132) against right-handed pitching. On top of that, the Over is 3-1 in the last 4 meetings this season.

New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Mets (58-67) open a 3-game series against the Atlanta Braves (80-43) on Monday at Truist Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Braves odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Braves lead 8-2

The Mets had a 4-game win streak snapped with a 7-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals Sunday. New York is still 23 games behind Atlanta in the NL East despite that it went 6-4 in its last 10 contests, and remains 7 games back of an NL Wild Card.

The Braves fell to the San Francisco Giants 4-3 on Sunday, snapping a 5-game win streak. Atlanta is 8-2 in its last 10 games and is 13 1/2 games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies for 1st place in the division. The Braves are expected to get a spot start RHP Allan Winans in Monday’s contest.

Mets at Braves projected starters

Mets at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 6, Mets 3

Moneyline

While the Braves should take care of business at home on Monday, just AVOID their moneyline in this game at over -200 odds.

Run line/Against the spread

BRAVES -1.5 (-115) is the play in this NL East bout as Atlanta boasts the best ISO (.240), the best wOBA (.379) and the 2nd-best wRC+ (137) against left-handed pitching since the start of July. The Braves have won by at least 2 runs in 7 of their 8 wins against the Mets this season.

Over/Under

UNDER 10 (-115) is the lean in this game despite the Braves being capable of hitting the Over themselves. However, the Over is 5-5 in the last 10 meetings overall and Winans should limit New York’s lineup for a 2nd time this season.

New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New York Mets (30-32) and Atlanta Braves (37-24) cap off a 3-game set Thursday at Truist Park. First pitch is at 7:20 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Braves odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Braves lead 4-1

The Mets have lost 5 in a row, and to make matters worse, 1B Pete Alonso left Wednesday’s game after being hit on the wrist by a pitch. He’s undergoing testing and is probably doubtful for this game. The Mets are 3-7 over the last 10 and have fallen to 7 1/2 games back in the NL East.

The Braves have won 4 in a row with 6-4 and 7-5 victories in this series. Strangely, a team that is 13 games over .500 is just 17-14 at home. They have dominated the NL East at 14-5 and hold a 3-game lead over the Miami Marlins.

Mets at Braves projected starters

RHP Justin Verlander vs. RHP Spencer Strider

Verlander (2-3, 4.25 ERA) makes his 7th start of 2023. He has a 1.14 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9 and 7.5 K/9 in 36 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 6 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, 8 K vs. Toronto Blue Jays Friday
  • Has not faced Atlanta since 2016
  • Is 1-1 with a 4.76 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 7.4 K/9 in 3 road starts vs. 1-2, 3.79 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 7.6 K/9 in 3 home starts

Strider (6-2, 2.97 ERA) makes his 13th start. He has a 1.01 WHIP, 3.4 BB/9 and league-leading 14.6 K/9 in 69 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 4 BB, 7 K Saturday against the Arizona Diamondbacks
  • He leads MLB with 113 strikeouts.
  • Has made 4 career starts vs. Mets: 2-1, 5.19 ERA, 25 K’s in 17 1/3 IP

Mets at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Mets 4, Braves 3

Moneyline

The Mets have lost 6 straight in Atlanta and are only 1-8 in the last 9 meetings overall. Case in point, right?

I’m going against conventional thinking here in believing that the Mets are due. Verlander is one of the greatest pitchers in the history of the game, and he’s going to get up for this one against a pitcher very similar to his younger self.

The Mets got to Strider for 4 ER in 5 innings his last start against them May 1. The Mets had a bullpen game that day and lost 9-8. At this price, I’m willing to roll with METS +150 to avoid a sweep.

Run line/Against the spread

The Mets are either winning or losing by multiple runs, like they have in 3 straight and 4 of 5. So while -135 is very reasonable for Mets +1.5, I’d rather run it with the ML.

I do like JV to go 6 innings here. He has gone 6 innings in 3 of his last 5 starts, and in those 2 abbreviated starts, he allowed 6 ER.

So roll with METS +1.5 (-135) or JUSTIN VERLANDER OVER 17.5 OUTS (-165).

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

These teams have combined for 9 runs in 3 of the last 4 matchups. However, there has been 9 runs just 4 times in the last 10 meetings. New York is 4-6 O/U the last 10 overall, and Atlanta is 3-6-1.

At first glance, the number looks a little tall. It’s projected to be an 86-degree evening in Hotlanta, but I anticipate a pitcher’s duel with considerable wind coming from swings and misses.

LEAN UNDER 8.5 (-115).

The New York Mets (30-31) and Atlanta Braves (36-24) meet Wednesday for the 2nd game of of a 3-game NL East series. First pitch at Truist Park is slated for 7:20 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Braves odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Braves lead 3-1

New York lost Tuesday’s series lid-lifter 6-4 and has dropped 4 consecutive games. The Mets, who have not won a season series against Atlanta since 2017, are just 13-15 since May 6.

NL East-leading Atlanta had logged a .172 (11-of-64) mark with runners in scoring position over its last 9 games. However, the Braves went 4-for-10 in such situations Tuesday and hit 4 doubles and a home run in a contest that saw them battle back from a 4-1 deficit.

Mets at Braves projected starters

RHP Max Scherzer vs. RHP Charlie Morton

Scherzer (5-2, 3.21 ERA) makes his 10th start. He has a 1.09 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 9.1 K/9 through 47 2/3 IP.

  • Owns a 2.53 ERA over his last 5 starts against Atlanta but has allowed 8 runs over his last 12 innings against the Braves
  • Has clocked a 1.08 ERA over his last 25 IP spanning 4 starts

Morton (5-6, 3.62 ERA) makes his 12th start. He has a 1.44 WHIP, 3.6 BB/9 and 10.0 K/9 through 64 2/3 IP.

  • Faced the Mets on May 1 and scuffled for 4 ER over 5 1/3 IP; owns a 5.33 ERA over his last 5 starts (2022-23)
  • Owns a 5.71 ERA and 1.62 WHIP over his last 3 starts
  • Facing a left-leaning Mets lineup and has scuffled against lefty bats the last 2 years (OPS allowed in 2022: .771, in 2023: .806)

Mets at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 6, Mets 3

Moneyline

Scherzer is a workhorse and usually fine in such situations, but he is coming off back-to-back 100-pitch efforts and is perhaps a bit more prone to fatigue after lighter workloads earlier this spring.

Morton’s recent run of pedestrian efforts has been fueled somewhat by high batting-average-on-balls-in-play (BABIP) figures, lodging a .341 BABIP on the season.

Ride the inertia of the Metropolitans’ skid and BACK THE BRAVES (-130).

Run line/Against the spread

The Mets have lost 5 in a row in Atlanta and 4 of those games have been decided by multiple runs.

There is some risk here, but aggressive players may want to split action between moneyline and run line.

TAKE THE BRAVES -1.5 (+155).

Over/Under

Both sides of this figure have some sway factors. Example: fade to the starters’ numbers, play to the bullpens’ numbers. Respecting the total and tags: PASS.

New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s New York Mets at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The New York Mets (30-30) and Atlanta Braves (35-24) swing into a 3-game NL East series Tuesday. First pitch at Truist Park is slated for 7:20 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Braves odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Braves lead 2-1

New York owns a 9-17 mark since May 6. They hit the road after a 3-3 homestand — a sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies before being swept by the Toronto Blue Jays. The Mets, who have not won a season series against Atlanta since 2017, trail the Braves by 5 1/2 games in the NL East.

The Braves are back at home after a 3-3 road trip with games at the Oakland Athlwtics and Arizona Diamondbacks. First-place Atlanta is just 4-5 in its last 9 games. Over that stretch, the Braves have been hampered by a .172 (11-of-64) mark with runners in scoring position.

Mets at Braves projected starters

RHP Carlos Carrasco vs. RHP Bryce Edler

Carrasco (2-2, 5.74 ERA) makes his 7th start. He has notched a 1.37 WHIP, 3.7 BB/9 and 5.5 K/9 in 31 1/3 innings.

  • Scuffled in 3 early-season starts and in a May 19 return from an elbow injury; owns a 1.42 ERA in 2 starts since.
  • Current Atlanta batters own an aggregate .847 OPS against him
  • Fastball velocity is thus far down more-than-a-mile-an-hour of last season’s figure and nearly 2 mph since 2020

Elder (3-0, 1.92 ERA) is tabbed for his 12th start. He owns a 1.16 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 7.7 K/9 in 65 2/3 innings.

  • Second-year MLB hurler owns a 2.21 career ERA at home
  • Has a 1.72 ERA over his last 6 starts

Mets at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 6, Mets 4

Moneyline

Carrasco has scuffled over his last 2 starts in Atlanta (2021-22); Elder has been quite consistent and of late has filed nice starts against solid offensive clubs like Baltimore, Toronto, and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The lean is a bit toward Atlanta at these prices; would want something closer to -155 to pull the trigger, though.

PASS.

Run line/Against the spread

The Mets have lost 4 in a row in Atlanta.

Both sides have played more 1-run games than average, but the risk of such a game — with Atlanta on the run line — is mitigated by the return here.

Elder owns a sparkling 57.6% ground-ball rate; that’ll help on what is forecast as a warm evening with a batter’s breeze blowing out to left-center. Look for the Braves to leverage more chances and with more power in a game that could get loose if Carrasco can be chased before the 6th.

TAKE THE BRAVES -1.5 (+122).

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

Both clubs have played a slew of Unders of late. But there are plenty of push and pull factors on both sides of this figure: PASS.
